The Winner
Lot of searching, analyzing, reading reviews —mostly Car and Driver— we settled on r EX-L 8. Cargo space for us is enough. Got it with roof rails if we want to mount a carrier. Rides pretty good and our mechanic gave it high marks. He steered us away from the Acadia, Explorer, and Terrain. We liked the Grand Cherokee-L and the comparable Highlander, but the trim. Packages we wanted priced us out. We got a good trim package with the Honda, Not much room for haggling, though. 3rd row is kids only. Just bought it.

Owned 3 months.
Ok so we had it for 3 months. It’s a 24’ EXL. It’s just ok. I will break this in half and give the good and the bad. Good: More room in the middle, 3rd and cargo than anything else, it is comfortable and fairly quiet. The radio sounds good and the larger screen is easy to operate to find what you want. The BAD: It EATS GAS!!!! 18MPG average! Our pathfinder from before with same engine size averaged 21MPG. Just terrible. You would think it has power for that but no. It just kinda lumbers up to speed because the thing is so heavy. The climate controls are difficult to operate. It forces you to have the rear air on all the time every time you hit sync which I find annoying. The heat doesn’t perform well when realy cold out due to a draft from poor insulation around the doors that it can’t keep up with. The rear air lacks in its ability to circulate due to being on the console only and not in the roof like others. For some reason it has paddle shifters. Why?? They are in the way and hit your hands while trying to drive highways. Other than that it has an overall weak feel. It doesn’t feal solid or mechanically sound. It already is making clunking noises when backing out of the driveway and then going into drive. I don’t feel it will last a long time like I hoped. I should have stuck with the Toyota.

Satisfied
Updated review. Initially, I gave Pilot one star because its transmission was failed to be replaced and the ride on bumps seemed harsh. However, after getting used to it, I like this SUV, it has all I need to live or travel. Engine is great.. ride is good, utility is great, style is great too.
