Perfect except for gas mileage

Bought this brand new. It has hauled LOTS of cargo/building supplies or a spouse, three dogs in cages and a weeks worth of camping gear with room to spare. Added a roof rack/basket for even more room. It has worked tirelessly with little complaint or problems. The rear window opens separately from the tailgate which has been a godsend when hauling long cargo like 2 x 4 x 10's. The only item replaced was the left-front visor light unit where the whole unit had to be replaced, not the light itself. I'm not a fast driver nor do I do a lot of off-road driving (except for search and rescue calls) and the Pilot was up to the task there as well. I've never had any issue with the ride or lackluster pickup. My only complaint was the gas mileage--that I knew was marginal going in to the sale. I have easily gotten my money's worth from the Pilot and am selling it mainly because I am interested in a more fuel efficient vehicle (a CRV hybrid). At 93000 miles--I'm quite satisfied.

I did what a previous blogger did...and that was to buy a 2015 Pilot before they changed the body style. I like boxy because that is why I drive an SUV...for practicality. The 2015 has practically as much volume in back as a Yukon. You can't beat Honda engines for reliability. Bells and whistles aside, the most important attribute any vehicle can have is that is gets you from point A to B. Why waste your day off chasing mechanical problems. The few times I have had mechanical problems with Honda products over the years the parent company stepped up and made things right. I wish our U.S. auto industry would learn that lesson. They should be making the finest cars in the world but they keep losing out to more motivated manufacturers. This my third Pilot and no complaints.

Great dependable, spacious, still trying to figure out all the technology in it. Wish it got better gas mileage, but It has all the features we were looking for in a large SUV.

ASk a friend who use to be machanic at honda now head mechanic at acura , he said it was transmission, not getting right info from computer .he decribed it perfect told that to honda goes in one ear and out the other. i traded a perfect honda 2011 pilot in for this . i want that one back. HOnda service has not done anything helpful . as soon as i can afford to get rid of this i will.

Little less than 20k and many electrical problems

2015 Honda Pilot EX-L 4dr SUV w/Navigation (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

At less than 20k miles - Driver power seat only moves back and forth plus lumbar support, up/down and recline stopped working - just found out today Passenger side up/down stopped working- just found out today glass hatch stopped working (door button/remote/button on the rear door)- fixed by dealer 3-zone climate control stopped displaying the setting status on the middle display. The rear still works fine. - waiting on dealer ordered parts The car is pretty loud on highway, but nice in town and city express ways. It's bulky but relatively easy to maneuver because of its tight turning angle and responsive steering. This car won't win any drag race but the target buyers wouldn't care about it either. It has enough power with the responsive transmission to easily move around the towns and cities. Tried the 2016 Subaru Forester and 2015 CR-V, but are much smaller with adequate power. But the CVT they have making the acceleration hectic and less predictable, which is horrible on stop and go city traffic, or making left turn on intersections. The MPG figure as pointed out by so many already, not very green or Honda like (CR-V come to mind). But there's nothing new here, even the 2016 new Pilot is still horrible in this department. If you care about MPG, this is not your car for sure. The main drawing power for me is the square boxy look and feel (while driving) of the yester-year. Its truck-like road manner matches the look as well. This is what my family happens to appreciate - the quiet and smoother and longer mini vans and Mazda CX 9/Highlanders give them sea sickness. Also, I found the Pilot easier to handle on highway than Toyota Highlander and Camry. The Toyotas are bit over sensitive to steering and make driving it a bit nervous on crowded multi-lane highways. Pilot somehow feels more stable in similar situations, as clumsy and boxy as it is. As for alternatives, the 4-runner is less practical for our purposes, too expensive and we are not into off-road. The GMC/Ford/Chevy are much bigger than we need and more expensive as well, with questionable reliability (had many Americans in the past to prove my doubts). But, the recent sleuth of electric problems on the Pilot makes me wonder about Honda's reliability. I do hope that these problems are just my one time bad luck and things will be rosy from here. I am holding my breath with fingers crossed...

Bearing failed under 36,000 miles

Purchased a Honda Pilot 4WD Touring back in 2016 at a Honda dealer, comes with 9,000 miles, certificate used car etc. Was running great, then after a trip, humming noises and vibrations happened. Took back to Honda dealer, got the bearing replaced, also tires replaced due to uneven worn out in one side. Even that it still under warranty (< 36,000 miles). The bearing failure seemed a common problem for all Honda vehicles. I owned another vehicle i.e Honda Accord 2010, it's also had a bearing failure after 60,000 miles, and had to pay to repair. There may be a design problem, which is weight balancing is one side heavier than the other, and that caused one side bearing worn out faster than other side.

Snazzy Honda Pilot

Our first Honda was a Odessy 1996 we were so in love with this great car it fit every need with space mileage & Style. We racked up over 400,000 miles it was a great car with four doors. Style change with Odessy didn't meet our needs. We bought a 2015 Honda Pilot our love for Honda grew. We added a Honda civic to our home. Two of our children have Honda Pilots a 2015 & 2016. Honda Pilot 2015 body style still wins by a million!

Wonderful car, DO NOT TRUST NAVIGATION SYSTEM. It will add hours to your trip, take you miles away from your route, then return you to your route, an hour latter 5.minutes down the road from where it took you off. TERRIBLE feature.

I bought the 2015 Model year because I saw the style of the 2016 and it looked more like a mini-van than an SUV. I also had concern about purchasing the 2016 that is full of technology. I have learned it is best for the manufacturer to work out the bugs in the first few model years before diving into that generation. This was especially true with the tech they were introducing in 2016. Well my 2015 has driven in a blizzard with snow tires and never got stuck when we were the only ones out there. It has also gone across country on I-80 in a whiteout and again had no issues. We love the reliability the looks, the comfort and the utility of this vehicle. Too bad they changed the body and can’t get the top trim fully loaded in the 8 passenger config like ours. Not sure what we will do when we retire it. Have 80k on it now and will keep for another 5 years at least.
