I purchased my 2006 Honda Pilot 2WD six months ago as the 2nd owner. My Pilot had 218,000 and I put 12,000 miles on it in six month using it as a daily driver and for Lyft. I have replaced the alternator thus far. I am satisfied with my Pilot thus far. It cranks all the time and drives well. I'm hoping to get 300,000 miles.

Safety ratings won me over

I bought my Pilot just 5 months ago with 42,000 miles on it. It lacked some of the exterior style elements of the competition, but the interior features seem to fit our lifestyle better. The determining factor was the safety rating. This vehicle won out, hands down! Lucky for me, because last week I totaled my poor Pilot. This vehicle did exactly what it was supposed to do. Protect the occupants. My car's front end was totally smashed, the hood was folded nearly as high as the roof and I was protected in the cab. Other than bruises from the restraints and air bag deployment I am fine and totally amazed. So now the painful part, finding another one.

We bought this 2006 Honda Pilot with 14,000 miles on the odometer and could not be more pleased. The Pilot now has 216,000 miles on it and runs as good as the day we bought it. Maintenance over the years has been brakes , rotors , a timing belt at 140,000 miles. Other than standard upkeep , the radiator was replaced ( pin hole leak ) and an alternator around 200,000 miles. We still make comfortable trips from Ma to Nyc.It is still the vehicle of choice when transporting the grandchildren to various functions ,soccer and hockey games. We have even had two adults in the third row seat for one of our evenings out. We will now look at a 2016 Pilot because my daughter wants this one. Great Car. Hope the new Pilot is as good.

The pilot that could

The pilot that could do anything arrived in my Facebook marketplace search and for only $3600. It had 174557 miles on it and needed some tlc on the inside (headliner, a good scrubbing, and some Apple CarPlay) but it is somehow one of the most comfortable cars I have ever driven. Now some 17 months later we are knocking on the door of 190,000 miles and the pilot is still going strong, makes me really appreciate the simple engineering approaches made by the design team at Honda in the early 2000’s. We have the ex-l 4WD trim and I have to say, this pilot has done it all so far and has not gotten stuck ever. This is the pilot that could, the pilot that could do anything if you just bought one. Our pilot is the first Honda for us, and will not be the last, and with a baby on the way it makes me feel good that we have a car that will meet our growing family’s needs well I to the future. I just took it on a bachelor weekend from Jacksonville Florida to Asheville North Carolina and, being stuffed with 6 men and all of their gear, it didn’t only get us there and back but it returned -17mpg. Not too shabby. If you are reading this and considering buying one of this vintage, do it.

This is a dependable, low maintenance car that drives beautifully even after 10 years and over 170,000 miles. My two boys grew up in this Pilot. It's taken us to soccer matches, water polo tournaments and family vacations throughout the years. This has been reliable daily commuter and a comfortable long trip choice for our household. The maintenance has been reasonable and it has never stranded us. All repairs have been in line with the expected life of its parts and we kept it on schedule with recommended service cycles.
