Bad Panel Blank Screen for 2020 Honda CRV Sport

S.R., 02/24/2022
2020 Honda CR-V LX 4dr SUV (1.5L 4cyl Turbo CVT)
2 of 3 people found this review helpful

Six months after buying the 2020 Honda CRV Sport, I was having a blank screen with no controls working for heat, defrost or even air condition. Very big safety issue. I was told oh all the CRV from 2018 up have problems with the screen panel. I had to go threw services under warranty, thank god I had that, for two years. This year 2022 they did the wiring still a problem so now today a new screen panel was put in. Wish me luck because I was told today they don’t have screen problems since 2018 and that is why the employee not there anymore. I was told by the same person a week prior that the employee went back to John Deere to work. Nanaimo Honda tries hard, but once you buy a vehicle there no turning back if you have problems. The vehicle is all yours and you have to drop it off and get a ride home which is good, when problems occur. Make sure you get a warranty. I wish they would have replaced my SUV when it first started happening. They say it won’t happen again. We will see.

The CRV EXL is a GREAT vehicle!

This is our 5th CR-V. Living in the Northeast, this vehicle is great in the snow, has great comfort, and has Honda sensing safety including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and pre-collision assist. The 1.5 liter turbocharged engine is smooth and paired with the CVT transmission (no shifting). In addition to "Eco" mode, the EXL includes automatic "stop engine" when vehicle is warmed up and at a complete stop, both for net increased gas mileage.

The touring edition has all the bells & whistles at an amazing price. Only issue is the road noise I feel due mostly to the tires that come with it. Turn wood grain and leather seats with wonderful lumbar are sumptuous. Honda needs to offer a fully tan interior as tan seats with black carpet defeats the purpose of anything other than black as it does everything. There is a slight tick in idle from tire engine but only heard outside. Drives well, the safety features for driver work amazingly well and are beneficial. Comfort is my main factor in choosing this beauty as most newer seats hit my head in just the right spot to point my eyes looking to my knees. This one is just perfect, & if not the headrest is actually reversible!

Touring, Exterior LED lights. Comfortable seats for long travel, leg room in backseat, gas mileage near Accord millage rates. Easier area to load/haul than Accord, capable of light towing. Should be easier to load and take bike to grandkids home to ride bikes with them. Plus walk away locks is a great feature. As my daily driver, it should be easier get in and out of as my arthritis gets worse. Looking forward to having the awd and greater road clearance next winter. The 0% Interest is what motivated us to purchase now. Wished it had the dash pop up for the speed limit signs, heads up display, and vented seats like the upper end Accords. If price is right down the road interested in Hybrid Pilot, with the upper end Accord features noted above, and the battery warranty that Toyota is giving. Preferred gear shift over push button shifting.

I love it, but there are a few things that bug me

2020 Honda CR-V Touring 4dr SUV AWD (1.5L 4cyl Turbo CVT)
1 of 1 people found this review helpful

UPDATE: Feb'25: Still satisfied with the vehicle. Had my first alignment -- tires weren't wearing evenly despite regular rotation -- and just replaced the wiper blade inserts. The infotainment screen still beeps and goes dark on occasion but very rarely now. Going in for the passenger safety seat sensor recall in a few weeks. Fit and finish remains solid, gas mileage good. UPDATE: Feb'24: Still liking the car and it's performing well. I don't like the front end of the newer models so whenever I think of trading it in I remember a) it's paid off, and b) I don't like the new look. It's not a car I'm over the moon in love and gushing excitement, but it's a loyal companion that comfortably meets my needs and is nice to drive. UPDATE Aug'23: I've come close to considering a trade but have stayed with my Honda. It's still solid, comfortable, and so far has performed beautifully in city and highway driving. A few things still bug me but I've learned to live with them (for now). HOWEVER, Taking car into service to check AEB system - was driving along when suddenly the audible and visual alarm to brake was activated, and the car slowed down. I was the only one on the street. This was very scary -- first time, but I got rid of a previous vehicle (Nissan) when the same thing kept happening. Let's hope the Honda service folks can address this. UPDATE Jan'23: Still think the HondaLink app is useless. Still can't set up automatic "Driving and can't text" messages. Phone problems cited in my Jul'22 update still occur but not frequently. Car remains solid with no creaks or rattles. Still love the sunroof although I wish it was a full pano. Heat and A/C work well although getting the right setting for clearing interior windows of fog is tricky. Love the Auto headlamps and rain activated windshield wipers. There is a bit more road noise than I'd like, and I still don't like the blind spot warning indicators on the side mirrors. They are hard to see unless I turn my head. UPDATE: Jul '22: I still experience a few of the phone problems -- beep beep volume slide lever appears and then screen goes blank -- but not nearly as many as before I upgraded my phone. I just gave up trying to find a way to send an automatic "Driving, can't respond now" message to incoming texts. Still disappointed with some of the creaky technology I've cited in previous reviews. I've had the car for 15 months now and remain basically happy with the purchase, although I sometimes think about trading it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE Jan '22: Still love the car. Bought a new phone and that seems to have solved most of the issues I had with compatibility, although I still haven't figured out how to send an automatic "Can't text I'm driving" reply. I still don't like the location and size of the blind spot warning lights (this is the first thing I'd change on the car), the HondaLink app is still useless to me, but I've learned to contort to access the fuel filler door latch. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Purchased new 2020 CR-V Touring with AWD. Really like this car! Acceleration is good and the interior is very roomy and comfortable, vehicle is easy to maneuver. Love the lumbar adjustment of the driver's seat! Fit and finish are excellent and it feels solidly constructed. Only a few things bug me: 1) blind spot warning on side mirrors is small and not easily visible. Prefer what Nissan Rogue SL has that are farther forward and large, separate from side mirror, to be easily seen, 2) Infotainment system doesn't like my phone and will occasionally just shut off the display after much beeping and blinking of brightness selector, requiring me to shut off phone or Bluetooth connection (although this has happened when phone is on but Bluetooth isn't on), 3) won't import my phonebook because according to the Honda owners website my specific phone/service provider is not yet supported, 4) HondaLink app is useless and archaic, 5) fuel filler door latch is inconveniently located, requiring much fumbling and bending over to see/access. I'm still learning -- ordered the paperback owner's manual and it's huge!!! I am one of those people who likes to read through the owners manual and keep it in the vehicle for reference. I swore I wouldn't buy a car that has the automatic start/stop feature but I quickly learned to shut it off each time I start the car - it's a habit now so no big deal. I'm happy with my purchase but hope the nuisance of the phone issues can be overcome.* I intend to own this car for a long time. *NOTE: I had a 2019 Nissan Rogue SL AWD and the phone use was an easy one-step, totally compatible Bluetooth link to make/receive calls and control text access . The Nissan Connect app was very robust. I assumed Honda would be an equal or better offering. Can't even set up an automatic "Driving, can't text" message in the CR-V or place a call through the car's Bluetooth.

Which One Is Better?

We have our 2020 Honda CR-V and our 2021 Toyota RAV4. So which one is better??? Simple answer: We love both equally. The CR-V feels roomier inside with plenty of leg and cargo space. While the RAV4 has more pep when you stomp on the accelerator. We love the styling of the taillights on the CR-V better and the grill on the RAV4 better. Both vehicles hold their own in our opinion. We declare a tie and both are winners.

I was recently hit my a drunk driver over the past weekend. My car spun, hit a few trees and flipped several times and I only walked away with a scratch. After climbing out of my vehicle LITERALLY EVERYONE was so in shock that I was alive. I wish there was a way that I could submit the picture to you guys so you can see that if it hadn’t been for the safety features I wouldn’t have made it out. 11/10 would recommend and my next vehicle will definitely be another Honda CR-V! (SN: not sure if it makes a difference but I had the hybrid touring AWD)

Only disappointment is that Android auto does not support my cell phone, a Huawei honor 8x. From what I've read, the seems to be more of a Huawei problem then a Honda problem. However, Honda customer service said that they have not tested with the honor 8x. If Android auto is important, then probably want to check whether your phone has been tested. I'd buy the car again anyway. Now thinking about replacing my phone.

Back seat belt behind drivers seat makes it difficult to impossible to buckle three people because the middle seat belt overlaps the buckling mechanism for the right seat Beale behind the driver. If you buckle a seat belt in the middle, you can not buckle the seat belt directly behind the drive at all. This backward dual seat belt makes this car a 4 passenger car, not 5.

Lesson learned, Do your research. I did a general research to find the best car to meet my needs and stopped looking when I found this one. I now am regretting my decision to buy before thinking of everyday life. Like having a button to push to open the trunk during these times when you are to stay in your car while purchases are loaded in for you. It confused me when I pushed unlock/open the trunk, and nothing happened. After reading the manual, I see that option is only available in the two highest trims. It's something that I wouldn't normally look for in a car, but now I question why that simple function isn't standard. Lame. Now I have to get out and manually open it for people. Also, the auto idle having to be manually turned off each time is a bit annoying. Should be the other way around imo, turn on when needed, not turn off manually every time. I've had this car for three weeks now. It's fun to drive and Iove the seats!

I purchased a Honda CR-V six months ago, I was happy then not happy. The car was fine, it was me, I wanted more, I deserved more. I went back to Rock Honda and did the unthinkable, I gave back my auto and purchased another CR-V with upgrades. I was ecstatic and now satisfied. My motto, get what you deserve, don't accept less, even with your auto.

I decided against the 2020 CR-V for the simple reason, that the front fascia was needlessly changed, and not for the better. The fact that the CR-V is Honda's best selling vehicle, and that the CR-V has been officially praised as the best compact SUV, should tell you just how revolting I find the change

My family and I was drove this 2020 Honda Crv Ex from SF to LV and LA and back to SF, it is approx 1450 miles (total gas up US$150), I am so surprise this small engine definitely provide enough power and with some high-tech design (ACC,LKAS......) This trip I feel so comfortable. Thank you Honda.

3 years low mileage and problematic

So upset over my 2020 Touring. I loved it up until this point. My previous CRV had battery issues at 3 years but that was it. Year 3 with this one my Control Module (Panel ) went out and the part has been on back order. Discouraging to say the least.

I love the style, the drive. It's not so low that you hit your head climbing in and not so high you pull a muscle getting in and out. It's reliable and makes me feel secure.

This is my 3rd Honda. I just love the brand. This new one, with back up camera, heated seats, and other features, really appeal to me. The ride is so smooth, as well.

Did a lot of asking Honda owners how they liked their cars. Everyone said they loved them. I agree

2.0L turbo

I had three Honda Pilots before but downgraded to the CR V this time around. I don’t like the CVT and slower acceleration, everything else is fine. A 2.0L turbo trim would be great!

I drove Honda products for years and found that the CRV was my favorite. My husband and son complained about leg room so I tried the Nissan Rogue and then the Mazda CX-5. After 3 years with the Rogue and 4 years with the CX-5, I was definitely ready to return to the Honda CRV! I had quite a surprise when I returned. I found the CRV Touring to be larger and have so many upgrades from what I had previously. My husband says it is more comfortable and is excited about taking a long trip in it. I am just happy to be back in the CRV and in the Honda Family once again!

I love my new car with the EX L trim. It has everything I wanted at a reasonable cost.
