I am stunned at how much Honda jammed into this compact car! It doesn't ride, feel, handle or sound like a small car. There is plenty of room in the seats and I am a big fella. The cargo area is enormous. The technology has improved to such an extent that this vehicle feels and rides like a mid-size car. Simply amazed. Go Honda!

EX Hatchback is a fantastic car!

After a year and a half with the Civic I couldn't be more pleased with it! I STILL look forward to getting into it and driving. Everything about this car exceeded my expectations. I was just looking for a small commuter car with an inexpensive entry cost but what I got was an exceptionally good, sporty hatchback. The engine and CVT were WAY better than I expected and I have zero complaints about the power or power delivery from the CVT. The interior is surprisingly spacious in front and in the rear. The quality of the interior materials is better than anyone would expect and there is a lot of storage inside. The ride is unbelievably comfortable AND sporty at the same time. However, my son's Sport Coupe is even more sporty and planted in corners but you do feel the bumps a little more. The hatchback has an incredible amount of cargo space with or without the rear seats folded. It has so much standard equipment as part of the Honda Sensing package that it literally made a co-worker regret her decision to purchase an Audi A4 after she rode in it. The infotainment system works well and is pretty intuitive. My only complaint is that getting Android Auto to work required some fiddling around. The heated seats are extremely comfortable and I had no complaints after several 500 mile trips. There have been zero problems or trips to the dealership for recalls. Overall I cannot recommend the Civic enough for anyone looking for an affordable, fun and reliable car, no matter what your age (I'm 57 and I have driven everything from trucks to luxury cars).

Purchased the Hatchback Sport Touring model. Love the vehicle. Wish it had USB ports for rear passengers. Car does ride low so getting in and out could be difficult for some. Currently getting a combined gas mileage of 34 mpg. Love that! 3 driving modes to pick from: Eco, Standard, and Sport. Would definitely purchase the vehicle again. 👍🏻👍🏻

The perfect everyday ride

I have owned a mix of Accords and Civics over the past 20 years as my daily drivers (my wife has had Toyota, Mazda and Subaru, so I know those as well) and I think that this is the best all around car I have owned. It is vastly superior to my 2011 Civic in all ways except the entertainment system (still a bit confusing and no CD) and rear visibility. The hatchback configuration allows this to operate like a mini SUV (without the off road), but the handling and acceleration is top notch. The small size makes it a great car to commute into the city, but it is also fun for weekend trips to the mountains. Great mileage, looks good in black (to hide those ugly fake "air grills") and very reasonably prices. Honda cars are very reliable, so this one really falls into the sweet spot of price, performance, utility and reliability. Please not my ratings are relative to the car category/price. I know a BMW would have far better acceleration, handling, etc.

Bought my 2019 Honda Civic Sport Touring Hatchback 1.5L CVT 180Hp in May 2019. Started with 34 miles on it and now has around 1450 miles. I put a K&N performance intake system and a SiriMoto Strut Brace and the only thing I can say is wow! Throw this car into sport mode and it will throw you back in your seat! Even better, put this car into ECON mode with cruise control you'll average 36-38 MPG. I have almost nothing negative to say about this car. My only complaint (and its not even Honda's fault) is sometimes Apple Carplay will randomly disconnect mid-drive for no reason which can be frustrating, and the infotainment system isn't the greatest but it definitely should not be the deciding factor in buying this car. The Sport Touring Hatchback is an absolute joy to drive and I plan on keeping this for a very long time!

I came from a small sports car that I loved but needed a more practical car as a daily driver. Wanted something that had good room, good handling, decent acceleration and good economy with low emissions. (And a decent price) The Civic checked all the boxes. Tried 3 hybrids, Mazda 3 hatch and sedan, Audi A3. Liked the Golf but mileage wasn't up to par. Traded the car recently-- found a super low mileage '18 Audi A3 that I really liked at a great price.

Incredibly pleasantly surprised with everything about this vehicle. The gas mileage, the acceleration, the smooth ride and excellent handling, huge interior space and advanced technology features, outstanding overall ride for both City and Highway. It's a combination of a sports car and a touring car and Honda it's a very high mark with their efforts. While the ride to be a little quieter, there is nothing to complain about with this fantastic car.

It is not worth the daily pain and suffering

After just 3 months of dealing with extreme back pain, horrible neck pain, numbness in my legs, knees, hips, feet, and ankles, I have decided to sell my brand new 2019 Honda Civic at a big loss. The angle of the base seat cannot be adjusted which means for most people your knees will be higher than your hips. This will cause you to hunch or slump naturally, and causes pinched nerves in your lower back and herniated disks. The bottom seat bolsters are short and extremely stiff. If you raise the seat, it doesn't raise linearly on the manual seat version, it pushes you forward, further reducing thigh support. The head rests are actually a head restraint system that was made to keep your head forced forward and down which is excellent when involved in a collision but will actively give you "text neck" and is actively causing me unrelenting agony any time I am in the car. And with an hour long commute, I am in the car a lot. I wish I had done more research on it instead of purchasing because Honda's have a reputation for being reliable. Please do not buy this car if you have any sort of commute, It will take a toll on your body more than you are expecting and it is not worth the pain and suffering. If I could go back in time and change my car I absolutely would. http://www.hondaproblems.com/uncomfortable-seats/

Tight fit, complicated software

We got this car new for my wife about a year and a half ago. The good: Great mileage, lots of pep, good sound system. Lots of cargo room. Very cool paint job (cosmic gray, I think it's called). Interior build is solid, lots of plastic on the outside, but I guess that's the trend. The bad: Hondalink software is overly complicated, simple is better in vehicle interactive systems. I'm not a big guy, but getting in and out is like strapping on an F-18. Once you're in, it's fine, but access and egress are a pain (wife is much smaller and does not have a problem, so take that into account). Visibility borders on lousy thanks to thick windshield side posts and placement of a large rear view mirror. Sits too low to the ground for me, headlights of oncoming vehicles are really in your face. My wife finally got a booster sear since the seat does not go up far enough. She didn't really notice on the test drive since it was daytime. Lesson learned! The air conditioning system needed to be worked on twice in the first year, bad compressor and then low refrigerant. Honda is known for using mediocre parts from sub-contractors, and gets lots of recalls. We had a Toyota Camry with 300,000 miles on it before the Honda. Bottom line: I'd think twice before buying another Honda. I'd get a Toyota in a heartbeat.

Biggest Issue - the funky new console at your knee

John, 07/05/2019

While I love most everything about my new Honda Civic Hatchbeack EX, I do not love the little console holder next to my right knee while driving. All is fine while driving, but when you put in on cruise, bring your foot off the pedal, and raises your knee to rest your leg, that pesky console is jamming the side of your knee. It is the most uncomfortable thing imaginable. Did nobody test drive it on cruise and have this problem? So I open for suggestions on how to remedy this: 1. Put a pad on it so it does not poke into the side of my knee. 2. Cut it out... that is no good, cause its a new car. 3. ???

If you want a fast car that can carry a lot too, get the VW GTI. It has wicked acceleration. The Honda is pretty decent in that regard too. there is no turbo lag and the car feels light on the move with excellent steering feedback and braking. I've barely broken in the engine and can't wait to give the pedal shifters a go. Update 26-August-2020 After 18 months I can say that I really love this car! Its the perfect vehicle for everyday driving as well as weekend jounts of spirited excursions. Just a couple of small observations: 1. Why.have all.lights as LEDs yet use regular bulbs in the fog lamps? 2. Right driver side mirror should have traffic indicator that lights up when you use the blinkers to change lanes to the right. If there's an audibl warning on top of that, it will be really useful. 3. Why must I run the engine for 4+ hours and do several updates using USB drive just to update the maps I. The navigation system? HTH

2019 Civic Sport Hatchback 6MT

Lame standard equipment. This model does NOT include Apple CarPlay. It is NOT standard on the Sport Hatchback as it claims in this article (unless you buy the Sport Touring model at close to $30k which is only available with a CVT). Perhaps this article is about the Canada version, which IS different than the USA models. In truth, the radio in the Sport hatchback and the LX models are pitiful (USA spec models). Any FM radio reception is hopeless and there is no satellite radio option either. A huge disappointment coming from a 2015 Accord Sport. UPDATE 8/31/21 I use the Fuelly app for fuel usage, etc.. I used 87 octane only. 34k miles, average mpg was 37.7, best tankful yielded 40.7. Economy does drop with less highway mileage. My overall rating is greatly influenced by the lack of standard features in this particular model. I have since replaced the Civic with a small SUV (since I'm retired and no longer commuting close to 100 miles a day). The Civic was extremely low to the ground and sucked in the snow and the center exhaust does not allow a hitch for a bike rack. Message to Honda: put the exhaust back where it belongs and give us your sweet 6 speed manual in more models. I left the Honda family because your CVT is horrible. UPDATE 8/31/22 Overall, I miss the Civic 6MT greatly. CVT or automatics are horrible to live with, and seriously, is maybe 1 or 2 more mpg worth it to be stuck with a CVT? The new (2022) Civic with the 6MT looks awesome and I would buy another in a heartbeat, but not with the markups out there. I've heard of more than a few SI's out there recently with up to $10k markup with every available option thrown on as well. AND, I've only found ONE Civic on a Honda lot with a 6MT, an SI marked up $3,500 and every option you can think of tacked on. Every dealer is milking the snot out of these 'supply chain' issues to the max. They disgust me. And put a spare tire in all the Civic models. I recently read a review on a new Civic where even a temporary donut spare is no longer included. Seriously? C'mon Honda.

Do not buy this car unless you purchase an extended warranty to cover the ac system. The coolant used is corrosive and destroys the ac system. Honda knows about the problem and will split repair costs with you 70/30 or 80/20. However, it is an ongoing problem and if you keep the car, it will happen again and again. Honda doesnt have it listed as a recall. Will not buy honda again.

We have a 2019 Honda Civic with 32000 miles on it. The paint on the passenger door handles and passenger side mirror cap began flaking off a month ago. We took it to the dealer, but they would not cover it. Call customer service; they won't do anything either. A four-year-old car that is driven by a single person with the passenger side not even used regularly should not be having this issue. The service department at the dealer agreed and told us they were seeing paint issues because Honda had changed its formula to be more environmentally friendly. So the solution is to pay 1600 for new parts (not respray), throw those parts into a landfill, and not think about the emissions for creating and delivering the new parts? Honda isn't the company it used to be, and the quality they were known for isn't there. If you are reading this, save the money and later hassle factors and look elsewhere. Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, etc - there is a reason they are growing market share...

Great little car. Many safety features. Improvements made by Honda has reduced road noise. For a smaller car, pretty smooth ride too. Fun to zip around in. So easy to park…. I don’t know about you, but parking spots seem to have shrunk and I’m glad to not be trying to park a big truck! (Love trucks tho)
