What a great Ride!
We love our new Honda! -- From the incredible interior, to the futuristic styling of the exterior, this car is great. Our first road trip we loaded up our two kids and headed from Greenville, SC to Philadelphia PA! -- We used a whopping 4 tanks of gas (this would have been one way in our old wagon) and had plenty of room for our luggage, kids, junk, etc. This car is more spacious and comfortable than previous hondas. The Navigation system is awesome...we ran into traffic in DC, chose "Avoid Route" and drove right around a 2 hour delay -- and lost no time at all! What a great RIDE!
Ideal Companion
After more than two years of ownership and more than 40k on the odometer, our 06 Civic EX w/Nav remains an ideal companion. The car offers sharp handling, hi-revving, if slightly underpowered engine, sharp hi-tech and roomy interior, comfortable, firm seats and superb navigation and voice recognition systems. Even after extensive and rather heavy use, the interior exudes a high-quality feel of a much more expensive sedan. The ride is European firm and the wind noise at high-way speeds is pronounced. Still, we are thrilled with our decision to have purchased a Civic. For a price of an econo-box, we received a sophisticated, sharp, reasonably sporty vehicle that continues to delight
It's a Lemon - Many Parts Have Failed
Many parts failed: rear wheel bearings- 28K; rear shocks-38K; A/C compressor- 15K; now, front strut-55K; horn-56K; Nav system--stopped working for 1 day, came back the next (54K); visors, break-3X (told they weren't made for Arizona)-15K,34K, 51K; cruise control- often won't engage (told that brake pedal part fails, so "just push down hard on brake" - 39K); ft. brake calibers-defect (22K); recall-starter- fire danger-40K. Honda North America will not stand behind product -says " "...it's too bad...not our problem, it's yours." This is our 3rd Honda, 2nd Civic - never had any real problems until this. Car REALLY slow from start, but then ok; 4-wheel disk brakes shudder and under-responsive.
Great Car - EXCEPT.
I've had this car for almost two years and I still love it except for ONE thing. At 25,000 miles I had to replace all four tires (Bridestone Tourenza) because of flat spots, cupping and feathering. Bridgestone basically said "tough luck" and Honda said that it's obviously a tire problem. In researching this situation I am not alone with this problem. It IS the cars fault due to some faulty struts and suspension components (mostly at the rear). Now I have 4 premium Michelin's and, believe me, I'm keeping a close eye on them for irregular wear. Other than that, this is a great car to drive and is fantastic on gas! I always get 38-40 mpg on the highway, even at 75 mph with the AC on! Nice!
Excellent Quality for the Money
A lot of car for the money, very nice body lines, Total redesign of exterior and interior is nice but could be improved in the seating design with a wider bucket seat, should also come with tinted windows from factory to avoid cheap window tint film installations. Stay away from the Bass Speaker Option it is way over priced and very poor sound quality. Stereo system is weak.
