I just like hachbacks
I started out convinced that i'd never like a japanese car. I was in the market for a sub-compact hachback, so i gave it a test drive. My whole outlook on japanese cars changed that day. The Civic SiR (Civic Si in america) hase a very nice short throw "raly style" shifter and exelent throtle response. It corners as if on rails and sports some of the best front seats in any car. The sterio is quite impresive for a facory unit, the rear seat is surprisingly roomy. All in all: this is one sweet ride.
this is an economy car?
800 miles on the odometer and I am still smiling everytime I drive this car. The suspension is a bit harsh on NYC streets, but then again what suspension isn't in this city? I'm really impressed with how the car feels so connected to the road. I've driven other econoboxes before (Corolla, Impreza) and none of them have the same "feel". The front seats are second only to the ones found in more expensive German models.
Not the fastest, but the best in class
Some people says the new Si is slower than it's predescessor, it's not. Although it has the same number of peak HP (160), power is present earlier on lower rpms, making this car far more driveable than the 00 model.
A Little More Than You Think. Need More
My first Civic purchase and I'm enjoying it. The ride and handling are far better than the Lx, Ex line and the interior is as attractive/comfortable as you'll find in a twenty thousand or less car.
2003 Civic SI
Have had the car for about 6 weeks already have put 2,000 miles on it. Each day the car becomes more fun to drive, fit and finish quality are excellant, don't listen to the negative reviews, buy one and you will love it.
SI LOVERS
I LOVE THIS CAR, THE HANDLING THE SHIFTER, JSUT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE HAS COMMENTED ON IT... IT'S A NEW FEEL AND NEW LOOK. THE SEATS HOLD ME IN PLACE WHEN I'M FLYING THROUGH THE TURNS. ONLY THING I DONT LIKE IS THE TIRES, THEY CHIRP IN 2ND AND THE WHEELS NEED TO BE A BIT BIGGER. I DID HAVE ONE PROBLEM THE MOONROOF LEAKED.. HAD TO BRING IT BACK...BUT THEY DID THAT QUICK AND GOT IT BACK TO ME
Very nice, fun and comfortable
I had a great buying experience with this car, and Edmunds TMV helped out too. I ended up paying Less than TMV. This car has been a blast to drive, even while still breaking in the engine. I've had nothing but positive comments from friends and family. The only thing I've noticed about this car so far is how the electric assist steering feels different, but it's easy to get used to. I would highly recommend this car to someone who enjoys having a small 'peppy' car. It's no drag racer, but it's certainly quite fun to drive.
Very Nice Car
This car is the greatest!
Si Grows Up !
No longer a high-strung peaky hot rod, this new Si is aimed at a new market. This is the most European Honda ever sold here. Designed in Germany, built in England, this car is all a GTI should be, but isn't. The flat torque band pushes drivability far beyond any prior Si. The new 2L is perhaps the smoothest 4-pot made today and the 5 speed is the best of any FWD Honda. Other hatches may be hotter, but none can beat the refinement, smoothness, reliability and precision of the Si. If engineering excellence matters more to you than loud exhausts, slamming your ride or drag racing, this is the Si you've waited for.
Look out for the "Rally" Shifter
I have had issues my new si. When I has my car for 2 weeks the shifter when out. Then it took letters to the pres, vp, gm, and corp. honda to get my car fixed in just sort of a month. ever since the fuel economy had been worse, first and reverse slip a few times a week, 3rd randomly grinds. also the shift knob loosened and my cruise control is out more than it works. this was my first honda and if things do not improve maybe my last. also barber honda in bakersfield doesn't know what customer service is. consider yourself warned.
Sporty Sophicticated Rice Rocket
Finally the hatch is back, with the added convinience of a beefy engine powerplant. This car likes to be reved up and kept up there, afterall thats when it all comes to live. Hit 5000rpm and the beauty of Honda's i-VTEC propels you to the end of the rpm red line. Nice little car, but a bit pricey for what it is, no wonder people opt to pay a couple of thou more and get the Acura RSX.
Godd Value
This car is not a street racer but it is very fun to drive. The price and the usual reliablity of Honda made this an excellent buy!
Sporty and practical
If VW's GTI is too square or the new Mini S is too pricey, the Civic Si is for you. To be honest with you the MINI is a lot more fun to drive with go cart feel. But for the price you can not beat the Si. Very solid fit and finish through out and very reliable. I was in a car accident in mine and we rolled. The Civic saved my life. The area aroung the driver remained intact.
2003 Si
Excellent car, fun to drive. Not the quickest of its class (spec v, cooper s, RSX) but responds well to modifications, if speed is your thing. Excellent build quality for such an inexpensive car. City mpg is outstanding(almost 30), thanks to the improved iVtec system.
Amazing car!
We just purchased our Si. We also looked at Mini and VW GTI. This car is far and away the best value of the three, arguably the best built, most likely the most reliable, and an absolute hoot to drive.
North American 2002 Civic Si Disappoints
I have owned six Honda Civic hatchbacks including this one. This one pleases me because of its design, build quality and presumed reliability, but disappoints greatly in straight-line acceleration. Honda has no right calling this a performance car when it weighs 2750 lbs, has only 160 hp, and has such anemic 0-60 and 1/4 mile times! I finally broke down and bought it as a new one-year-old car because the dealer discounted it so heavily (sales must have been poor). I do not recommend this car to anyone who is looking for lively acceleration! I will have to add my own hp improvements.
SI really buitl European
Excellent car. I wish I could say the same for the dealership, Brad Barker in Bloomington, Il. My experience is they are very dishonest and the used car sales manager has a temper like I have never seen from a professional.
