Used 1999 Honda Accord Coupe Consumer Reviews
I Love My Honda!
I've always had VWs..all models...never thought I'd switch, but when I test drove my Honda, I fell in love with the comfort and ease of driving this car...it flies. Plus, I love the leather interior and the beauty. That is not prevelent with the VWs. Honda is a smoother drive and since I keep my cars for about 12 years, Honda is the way to go...I researched this. Honda's have a great safety record and low maintenance record also. My kind of car. I'm loving it.
Wouldn't drive anything but a Honda
I really do love this car! The styling still looks current, and it's fun to drive. It gets great gas mileage, and it has plenty of room for me and four friends. It is a great car for my commute back and forth to college. It provides the functionality of a sedan with the sportiness of a coupe. I've never had a serious problem with it other than the brake switch going out-- the brakes still worked, but the taillights didn't come on. It was repaired under warranty. Other than that, it has not given me a single problem. I'll drive it till the wheels fall off.
My '99 Accord V6 Coupe
My family has owned many Hondas, all of which have been very low maintaining vehicles, except for a big problem in my '99 transmission. The car used to be my moms. She had to replace the tranny at just below 100,000. Very disappointing coming from Honda, one of the most reliable manufacturers out there and way above German and American made cars. Now at almost 170,000 miles and up to that I've been noticing the transmission problems again, and just today it went totally out of gear, and then back in after I jabbed the gas a few times about three seconds later. Not been a fun experience driving in fear with this car... possible my driving habits don't help it either.
Sa-Weet!
Just let go of our 99 Accord EX V6 black/black coupe for an 04 black/black Acuras TSX. I can only hope that the Acura now lives up to the departed Accord. The Accord was a blast! Always got looks, always delivered smooth and fast performance, never any troubles, etc. It hasn't travelled far, we sold it to a family member, so I'm sure we will see it for at least several more years.
Most reliable car I've ever owned
Got this my car back in 2002 w/ 24,000 miles. Now it has over 80k and I'm amazed how reliable this car is. Aside from the required maintenance, the only problems I had is changing the light bulbs, squeaky shocks on the front driver, & annoying rattles in the trunk. That is it, I bought a 5spd so I have non of those trans problems. Thinking of getting a new car, but cant really part w/ my reliable Honda.
Do not believe what you read
In short this car has been completly rebuilt (V-Tec system, ABS system, brakes 2X, power sun roof motor, fan motor, leaks in the trunk) by honda and they have simply been the worse company to deal with. The transmission is now gone, but they refuse to warranty it. I have written letters to Honda with no response. All I can say is NEVER AGAIN. I have owned 7 Honda's and 3 Acura's. I will not make this mistake again.
Honda Magic
This is the best car ever. We love it and people always comment on it. It's a head turner and fun to drive. This is the 7th Honda we've bought in our car buying career. We just bought an '88 Civic (#8) with 260,000 miles with no fear for our college son. My '90 Accord has more than 300,000 miles and is still running strong. We LOVE Hondas!
Blue Coupe Honda
Reliable Car. 4 Cylinder engine which makes for a slow take off. Lately one very hot days, over 99 degrees, my car has been having trouble starting. Have taken the car to the dealership and they have not found any problems. Car tends to idle too high sometimes. But have not had any major problems from this car.
Sweet ride
It's a great car, has great pick up an handling. Was purchased for my daughter about yr an half ago for transportation to school an getting around. Now she's going to college in anot her state soon. Truly a great car

Overall a good car
I wanted Honda reliability but was a little disappointed, overall a very good car though. Two guys I worked with have 98's (the year this version was redesigned), while they have a lot more miles, I used that as a gauge of problems I could expect. Alternator and battery failed at only 35K miles ($700) which I thought was pretty bad and it needed brakes prematurely soon after that, but that's been about it - almost 10 years old, needs new motor mount but no other repair issues. It's powerful, fairly quiet, agile, excellent handling and braking. Gas mileage drops al lot if you go 70+ MPH. The clear coat finish on the wheels is wearing a little prematurely being in FL most its life.
