Perhaps my best Accord!
I just posted yesterday, but I still have more things to say! I drove my 93 EX today and noticed that it just might be better than the 99 EX-L I owned in the early 2000s! My 93 may not be as big and comfortable, but it's definitely on par with that 99!! The 5 speed brings all 142 horses to life and the styling still holds up today! I have a factory cd player in there and the factory speakers still thump! I know the car is nearly 20 years old, but next to this car and the legend, name another 18-20 year old car that looks this good... Exactly.
9 years old and still running great
Great car! The exterior is still in great shape, the design itself is holding up pretty well although the front seems to be aging better than the back of the car. Interior is well- thought out with plenty of places to place your things and easy to use controls. Even though the engine is a 4 cylinder, it has good pickup and handling is simple and nice.

Dependable
Love my car. (Yes I do own a lot of cars) Very dependable, nearly 181,000 miles on the odometer. Over these past 12 years I've replaced my timing-belt ($310 bucks!!!!!) Moonroof motor ($799.99!!!!) But she's running strong.
First car!
And I love her! She's really sensitive. You only need to to tap on her and she just goes! With the Ford Taurus we got, you have to really push down to go anywhere. I love the size because it's really easy to handle and I get a great feel of the car. I'm really happy with this Honda.
Great car
Great car inside and out. It has everything you need nothing you don't. I have had the car for almost a month and I have never had any problems. Great 9!!! year old car!
great car
I bought this car with 83000 miles in 2004 from a friend and had a full paint job and service, its a beautiful pearlized green. One year later I'm still getting offers for up to $5000. Wouldn't part with it for anything. It runs great and look great. love this car!
Accord is #1
I've had my Accord since I bought it new in 1993. It is ultra-reliable. I've replaced only tires, brakes, and exhaust in 15 years of ownership. I plan to sell it in the next month or so. Having bought the car for $13,000 and considering it's resale value of about $2000 there is no better value in the automotive industry. Can't wait to get my hands on the 2009!
251,000k and running!
I drive to work 80 miles round trip 5 days a week and the car has 251,000 miles and still running strong, need I say more!
Honda's New Car - The Honda Lemon
Bought the car in 2001 with 46,000 miles. In 1 1/2 years, I increased the mileage to 90,400. I went thru the following in a span of 3-4 mths: Radiator replaced, timing belt & water pump replaced(I can understand about timing belt & water pump); new valve-covered gasket. The transmission dropped. Yes, a Honda transmission failed. Can you believe it?! I rebuilt the transmission & replaced oil-covered gasket. I think the car just sat & sat during its first 8 yrs. without anyone changing the fluids or driving it much. 3-4 mths. & $3000 later, I think I have rebuilt a new car, but I have renamed this 1993 Honda Accord a 2002 Honda Lemon.
Red Honda
I've had the Honda for 7 years and it has performed beautifully. Only oil changes, one brake linning job, new windshield wipers, tires - only one major repair: carborator
Great Automobile
I've always loved the timeless styling of this generation of Accords. It also is the perfect size IMO (new cars are getting way too big). Amazingly, even with 87k miles, my black 10th Anniversary Edition Accord's automatic transmission shifts almost as smooth as my 2000 Camry XLE V6. My Accord's ride is a harsher than my Camry, but the Accord is much more "fun" to the drive.
Reliable, Reliable
I bought the car new, and loved it from that day. My family had it for 7 years, 120,000 miles, and never expierenced a problem with that automobile. We finally replaced the EX Accord with an Odyssey EX. One would be suprised at how peppy the 140hp I-4 is. I reccomend this car!
Had to say goodbye, so sad
This was my husband's car, well on 12/18/09 a budget rental truck slammed into the pass. side. She had 209k and NO signs of breakage coming soon. We drove away straight as an arrow, but it would cost more to fix, believe me we thought about it. THIS IS THE MOST RELIABLE CAR EVER!! I personally own a 91 accord wagon, had it for 12 yrs. she always starts, I have the oldest car at work, but it always gets me there. We were planning on giving it to our 15 yr. old son, nothing more important then knowing your child has a reliable car to get them home. But we decided to part it out and say good bye to the work horse. Definitely will always own Hondas.
grumpy honda
Grumpy car. Doesn't like to start in the winter. Expensive to fix when the AC broke 2 times and a pain to fix when the car would randomly stall and not start again on hills. Espically during rush hour. The gear shift occasionally decides not to budge, leaving me without a ride. And the trunk and windows leak. otherwise, not bad
11 years of pure driving bliss!
Honda got it all right with this sweet little machine! This is an amazing little sports sedan in sheep's clothing. The extremely smooth 140 horsepower 16 valve dual overhead cam engine sings when the RPMs get above 3,000 plus and it just keeps on a pulling. The entire design of the car is brilliant as it sits low with a low dash and big glass so the driving position, instrumentation and view out is perfect. The suspension and steering make it a blast to drive especially when tied to the 5 speed manual. The interior is smart and sporty and makes most new cars pale in comparison. I love this car because it's the best of all worlds and cost next to nothing to maintain.
Reliable Car
I've had my "top of the line" Honda (Accord SE) for about half year. I purchased it with 125K and it's been allright. I had to replace front suspention springs and struts, but other than that, it's very reliable car. I also enjoy the gas mileage on the highways. It's significantly worse in town though! I'd recomend the Accord to all of you who want relatively cheap but reliable car that will last :-)
Can't complain
Bought this Ex, 4 door with 67,000 miles on it in 97. gas milage 25-26 mpg around Houston, I've got 227,000 miles on it now, nice road feel, better cloth interior than the 2003 accord. 300,000 miles? no prob. change the timing belt ever 90,000, oil every 4,000, use mobil one synthetic.
What a Great Car!
I've owned this car for over 9 years and have put over 140,000 miles since purchase. It always starts, always runs well, and even with over 160,000 total miles on the car, there are still no rattles or squeaks! Only 1 expensive repair for the ABS computer chip, but it was covered under the warranty. Didn't have to replace the alternator until 130K miles. This car has proven Honda reliablility to me. It still runs quiet, never stalls in cold weather, and gets excellent traction in the snow. With normal maintenance, I still get over 27 miles per gallon.
Great car!
Bought a 93 Accord SE sedan in April, 2002 with 90K miles on it. It now has 101K and rides and looks great! And the resale value is unreal. Think hard before you buy another American car! This one should last a long time.
Great little Honda
We bought this 1993 SE sedan in April 2001. It was a great car other than axles and radiator nothing else really went wrong. I sold the car to a Honda junkyard in summer 2003. A man in an old toyota truck pulled out right in front of me. I was going about 40mph the car held up great. It had 179,164.3 miles on it when it died.
Best OLD car I've ever owned!
I bought this 6 year-old from a dealership back in 1999 w/ 43K miles on it. Now, it's at 85K. Got a great deal with my 91 Accord EX trade-in. Ever since, I just love the car. Got all the features that most cars today don't have as standard...e.g. leather, Bose, dual airbags, ABS, moonroof, CD- changer, etc...Had no mechanical problems except the "MAIN RELAY --> NO START" problem. But I fixed that. Gives great gas mileage on the freeway, performs well, especially with strut- bar. I still think this is Honda's best built car.
Absolute Best Car I've Ever Owned
Buy one. Watch for external rust, but other than that, it will be the best car you can have. Love this particular body style. Solid, solid, solid.
Awesome Car
We are the original owners and after 128,000 miles this is by far the best car we have ever owned. We just sold it to a family member and bought a new 2003 Accord. Imagine that!! Being an engineer (read car nut) I have done all preventive maintenance myself and frankly that is all we have needed to do. The car has been extremely reliable. Feels as tight and responsive as when new. Use Mobil1 synthetic, car uses no oil at all.
Big Disappointment
Reasonably comfortable. Fairly quiet. Not much fun to drive. Very expensive to own. It gets 19/24 mpg. This for a 2.2 4-cylinder is ridiculous. Parts for this car are surprisingly costly. For instance, most car manufacturers will use two formed-rubber hoses (~$20) for the cooling system. Honda uses somewhere around 10, making the hoses alone ~$80. Another example: Honda designed the front brakes such that you must re-build the entire front-end to replace the rotors (a very high wear item). Other manufacturers keep the rotors on this two small screws. This makes a ~$200 repair closer to $800. Big disappointment overall. As the cost of ownership is equal, I'm selling this and buying a BMW.
Still "According..."
This will was my fourth accord that I purchased in September of 2010. I owned a 91 EX coupe 5 speed in high school (3 years), a 99 EX-L sedan 5 speed for 4 years, a 91 LX sedan 5 speed for 5 years (that one had idling issues btw), and now I'm back to my roots with my EX, which was only! The performance is good considering it's age but I don't think it was faster than my 99 vtec. My only problem is that it isn't too comfortable but that's b/c I was spoiled by the roomier EX-L and I'm 6ft with long legs! lol. I know some have had the misfortune of owning a lemon, but Honda has been good to me for the past 12 years! When I finish school, I plan on an 06-07 V6 sedan 6 speed!
Update on 3 year old review
Since I wrote the last review on this car, things have only gotten much worse. Car now has 142k miles. Things that have had to be replaced so far: CV joints 2X, tie rod ends, upper ball joints and control arms, rear engine mount, A/C, ABS, rear rotors, front rotors 2X, exhaust 3X, oil pressure switch, oil pan gasket, power antenna, rear window seal, 6 headlamps. This car is much faster than its suspension can handle. I had heard that Honda built very reliable cars. This is 10 times over the WORST car I've ever owned.
225,000 miles & tearing up the highway
I run my cars hard with no mercy and this car is awesome like all the Honda's I've owned! 225,000 miles and still tickin'. It'll still cruise at 80 mph for hours without worry.
Best Car I Ever Had
This car ran like it was new when it was 16 years old with 190k miles. Its life was cut short by an accident, but I loved this car. Many cars (even newer ones) make noises or everything just seems flimsy, but this car ran and felt great. I chose not to buy a Honda again because I believe they have actually become overrated. I loved this car, but the prices for cars like this have become outrageous in the past few years. It was a great car, not a magical car that never will die or require maintenance.
Great car
Bought this car last summer and its been sweet. Fuel economy is pretty good and its rather zippy for such an old car with low horsepower and torque. I've had no problems except with a broken door-handle but that was there when we bought it. I'm planning to upgrade the exaust and intake very shortly to give it a little more boost. Planning on having this car for a long time. (It only has 74000 miles on it).
I love my Honda!
I've owned this car for 9 years & love it. It has never left me stranded & loks as good today as it did when I bought it many years ago.
Happy
My Honda has 190,000 miles and still going strong. I had to replace the entire front end and 3rd gear just went out, but I believe this was from lack of care from the previous owner. I'm getting around 36 mpg on the highway. This car takes a licking and keeps on ticking
Trusted Old Friend
I bought the car new, and was looking for a reliable vehicle. I haven't been disappointed. In the 9 years it has been driven, I can count on one hand the number of times it has refused to go (battery twice and starter once). The interior has held up well, but the paint shows signs of age--hurried along by exposure to weather and a detailer who power buffed the finish. Now the clearcoat is peeling. I've kept up with the preventive maintenance, so at 157,000 miles it is still mechanically sound.
Best car you'll ever own
I rescued my 1993 LX after a friend of mine was about to let her go to a dealership trade in. That was 15k miles ago, at 155k. I'm up to 170k now, and have loved every minute. I've had a few easy fixes (main fuel relay, rubber trim, valve adjustments, etc), but no way can I complain. Especially not with 37mpg on the highway, a decent ride, and fair enough handling for a front drive sedan.
Love this car
I just sold my 99 Passat and needed cheap transportation until I find the convertible of my dreams. I bought this one owner car with the original tires (replace yesterday due to rubber rot). What a sweet car, I have people beggin me to sell her to them. It didn't look so great under the car port with two flat tires, dead battery and an inch of dirt but today she looks like a brand new 9 year old car.
Ok, did nickle & dime us a bit
Got this 5spd from my wife when she went mini-van for the kids. I sold my auto trans 1992 Accord. This one has been a good car, except for two major repairs. We had to do the AC 2 seasons ago for a few thousand, brakes once, and a new radiator (blew out on me and almost left me stranded). Other than that, pretty reliable and durable car. At 122K still on original timing belt!
Excellent Vehicle
My 1993 Honda Accord 4Dr LX Sedan is a perfect vehicle to drive. Japanese cars will always dominate other vehicles. This Accord has a perfect engine, transmission, performance, and etc. I recommend this vehicle to other car buyers out there.
SUPER
I HAVE HAD A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE WITH THIS CAR. I WOULD RECOMMEND THE CAR TO ANYONE.
My
I bought my Accord with 19,000 miles on it a year and a half old. Since then I've put on 157,000 over nine years of trouble free ownership. Nothing has needed replacement on this vehicle other than normal wear and tear (muffler, brake pads). Biggest tips: Mobile 1 synthetic evern 4k, and cross drilled front rotors. For some reason the rotors extend the life of the pads while giving the predicted benefit of enhanced stopping power.
Good car
Great little car. Fun to drive with Honda reliability. Styling isn't great but could be a little more exciting. I love the headlights its like having giant Hella lights on the front
Can't complain #2
I now have 324,000 miles on my EX Automatic Accord. Since my last review I have put on 100,000 miles. my repairs: new tires, antenna inside replaced, break pads, front window from rock chips, valve cover gasket. I still drive it fast, handles well, and will write again my next 100,000 miles..No car payments for more years to come, YEA!!
A great car
I am now selling my 1993 Honda Accord because, with our kids gone, we have one car too many... but I part with it with great regret. Mileage is good, and it has had no major mechanical problems. Very, very reliable. I have never kept a car with 131,000 miles, but this one drives as good as ever.
Ode to a great car
I bought this car new in 93 the cruz- contol shorted out and caught the car on fire 9-15-02, it had 280,000 + miles and never gave me 1 problem until its sucide, well the fireman helped as they had to chop the hood off to fight the fire, their dmg is what totaled it..reg oil chg & svc will keep a honda going, I saw a prelude with 850,000 miles on it. I am very sad for my loss.
Review
I bought this vehicle brand new and I haven't had any major problems. It drive about 85-90% as good as it did when I purchased it. I also give credit to an excellent mechanic who has been very conscientious about the care of my Honda.
awesome little car
I truly enjoy owning my little 93' accord, it's fun to drive and it goes... well lets just say realy fast!
1993 Accord SE is excellent
I love the car. I bought it at 190k miles and it has been running excellent. I guess it will last for another 10 years.
love but it leaks...a lot!
i've spent very little money to maintain this great car and it has been very reliable and fun.
Trust My Car
I bought my car brand new with 7 miles on it in March 1993, now 11 years later and 205,000 miles, it still has as much power as it did the day the day I bought it. I have not had any problem with the engine in any way, except the manufacturer defect of the distributor (which was recalled). We do maintain it, with regular tune-ups and oil changes every 3 thousand miles. The only thing we have done, (aside from interior, mostly cosmetic problems) is regular maintenance with only 1 battery and of course tires.
Doesn't get any better
My experience with my '93 honda has been nothing less than perfect. I am the original owner and it has proven to be the most reliable, dependable vehicle I have ever owned. My Accord now has $185,000 miles on it and the motor is still going strong. I love it so much it is going to be hard to part with it. I just purchased the 2003 Accord. Go figure, from a 1993 to 2003, if that doesn't say anything I don't know what does.
BEST USED CAR TO BUY
I can't believe how good these cars are. I bought a used one with 190,000 miles on it. Everyone thought I was crazy to pay $3500 for it but let me tell you. Now I have 250K on the car and IT STILL RUNS LIKE NEW. I will never sell this car, Cheap on gas, but you do have to fix few common problems every now and then. CV axes, radiator, speed sensor, and oxygen sensor. THAT's it. And only every 60K or so... not bad. So don't just keep reading this, go and buy one. You will love it.
