Impressed
Traded Mercedes C300 and a Ram 1500 Hemi, and traded both on the Sierra. Mine is an SLE Doublecab with the All-Terrain package and 5.3 V8. I've only had it for 1000 miles so can't really comment on reliability, but truck is very solid going down the road, whisper quiet, smooth, luxurious and just a joy to drive. Its actually more comfortable than the 2011 Mercedes was. The 8" touchscreen stereo with Bose speakers (not listed on sticker or GMC site for SLE, but came with my All-Terrain) sounds great, but the bluetooth and USB connections to my iPhone 5s are a bit flakey. No NAV in my truck, but OnStar works well. Drove 400 miles yesterday, heated bucket seats very comfortable.
Better than expected
First off, there was no pull-down selection for my particular truck, which is an SLE trim, 4x4 double cab with the 5.3 liter V8, so I selected SLT, which is actually close in my case as my truck has the All-Terrain package that includes most of the SLT upgrades (except the leather seats). While cloth, the seats in the All-Terrain SLE are buckets with a great seat heater feature that allows heating the entire seat, or just the back which I love on very long drives. This truck is very comfortable, with a smooth and quiet ride and excellent (for a truck) handling. Steering actually has pretty good feel and the truck corners quite flat. The seats as mentioned above are heated and are very comfortable, with firm padding that holds up well on long drives. The steering is perfectly weighted, though like in all GM full-sized pickups I've ever driven, the steering wheel is an inch or so off-center (just they're design). I thought this would bother me, but honestly it doesn't. Fuel economy tops 20 MPG if I keep speed under 75, but at 85 it drops to about 18 MPG and in town about 15 MPG, with my average over 35,500 miles at 16.2 MPG. I have had no issues whatsoever with this truck. Thus far I've changed oil a few times, wiper blades once and thats it. Everything still looks and feels like new, which is more than I can say about the vast majority of vehicles I've owned over the last 30 years. Highly recommended.

Multiple problems with 2014 GMC all terrain
28,000 noise from the front left wheel at low speeds. navigation is inconsistent. I use my phone before the on board nav. Don't waste money on this feature. Very rough shifting. Braking is rough. A/C went out at 5,100. I researched this problem and it is a national epidemic for the vehicle. It is unfortunate that GMC would not take ownership of the problem. Instead the owner incurs the cost. For future GMC owners I would highly suggest researching other vehicles. This is my third CHEVrolet/ GMC and based on this vehicle, it will be my last. Still having problems. Misfire in number 7 led to cool pack replacment. Automatic start stopped working.

Big Blue GMC True
Being a truck, gas mileage is great. Pulls my boat with ease and has power to spare. The color (blue) is beautiful and interior seating (with leather) is very comfortable. Easy to access all necessary controls, and even has adjustable pedals which are linked to the memory seats, mirrors, etc. Now being 70, I am able to provide all my own maintenance and vehicle care. Have owned over 80 vehicles and have owned mostly GM products the past 12 years. This truck has not disappointed me at all! Overall I am fully pleased with my truck and do not over expect what is not possible. My dealership(Jim Ellis) Buick/GMC Mall of GA has always been a great place of service! Having owned and driven this truck since 2017 I have been completely satisfied. Dealership support is excellent and no problems ever. I would purchase a vehicle from them again if needed.... As a mechanic I do all my own maintenance and this vehicle is very easy to work on. I LOVE MY GMC~~

PILE OF JUNK
PILE OF JUNK is putting mildly. The reason I waited until know before writing a review was because I wanted people to get an idea of the long term reliability rather than the short term review. I purchased the truck new in 2014. At around 45,000 miles the radiator went. Shortly after that the A/C went. Then the clincher was the transmission went at 110,000 miles. This truck was babied from day one. I never used it to plow or carry heavy loads. When I tried to contact GMC regarding these matters I didn't even get a call back. The gentleman who replaced my transmission (not the dealer) said that this truck is really no more than a truck shell on a SUV chassis. After driving it for the past 4 years I think he was right. I now have suspension issues and noises I can't even identify. Tomorrow is going to be a great day since I'm trading the PILE OF JUNK in for a 2019 Dodge Ram.I have been now driving the RAM for one year and absolutely love it

Nice looks, but quite a step backwards...
Just purchased my new 2014 GMC Sierra with all the bells and whistles just a step below a Denali and wow, this thing looks nice, but really it is very similar to a truck I had many years ago. There are a few pieces of technology that are a nice upgrade (when they work), but they also skimped on some of the basics. As shown below some of the items that were standard items years ago are not even options today. The iPhone USB interface is hit or miss with IOS 8.0.2. Sometimes when making/receiving calls you get hand free, sometimes you have to use the phone itself. Also the heads up display is just a red flashing light, no information shown. Maybe next year...
Great Truck
I've had my Sierra SLE 4X4 All-Terrain for three months now, though I've only been driving it for one of those months as it was rear-ended by a Hummer (no frame damage) and in the body shop for a month, then I was away for three weeks of military duty. Still in those 5 weeks of driving I've put over 8,000 miles on the truck and have a pretty good idea of its capabilities and performance. The truck remains an absolute joy to drive, no squeaks, supremely comfortable seats and quiet ride. Fuel economy up to 24 MPG at 75 MPH which is OUTSTANDING for a V8 4X4.
Rusting Frame & Terrible Headlights: UPDATED 2020
I bought my 2014 GMC Sierra Z71 double cab 4wd 5.3L new in October of 2014. It had come off the line in September. Since then I have noticed that there are numerous rust spots on the frame. Everywhere there are edges, welds, holes, brackets. etc. I don't care for this. As of this date 11/15/2018 the vehicle only has 21,220 miles on it. I run this through the car wash at least twice a month. I bought a new 2001 and when I sold it in 2014, it did not have these rust spots on the frame. Don't know what effect this is going to have down the road, but I worry about towing a trailer like this. I wonder how the brake lines will hold up. Also the projector headlights are terrible in bad weather. With no high beam, the lights are almost useless. Have to drive with fog lights on all the time. UPDATE: The dealer replaced the headlight bulbs with upgrade bulbs and realigned them. MUCH BETTER. Also, dealer applied special coating to the frame and rusted brackets. Looks better than new. this was done in 2018. As of 2020 frame still looks like new. Vehicle now has 28,992 miles on it. UPDATE MAY 2021: Frame stills looks great. Truck has given me NO problems of any kind. Milage is 30,340. Update 11/2022. Truck has been great. No further rust issues once fixed. No issues at all. Truck now has 35,400 miles on it. Runs and looks great. Get lots of positive comments on the emerald green color. Glad I bought it. Update 06/05/2024 Truck now has 41,124 miles on it. Runs super. No problems there, however developed water leaks from the high mount stoplight and sirus rubber roof antenna. Stained the interior inside roof all across the back, and had water actually dripping on me from the upper console. Have ten year extended warranty, but none of this was covered by it. Cost over $2,000 to repair. Not happy with this.

2014 GMC Sierra All terrain SLT
I think you owe us an apology. You seemed to think the 2014 GMC sierra was a decent truck. I would like to let you in on the problems that most of the people are having with these trucks. Many rattles inside truck,FM radio can't hold a strong signal even sitting still, I have the Bose system and all I get is very nice sounding static.(think it is on purpose to make us buy XM) The headlights are so dull we are afraid to drive at night as they only light about 3-4 car lengths ahead even on high beam (no actual high beam light just a filter that moves to let out more light). Rear shocks that leak and make noises. Water leaks to the interior. Power rear sliding windows that the cables break and
Paint? Headlights? Mileage?
Upgraded from 08 Denali and it was a big mistake. Old denali all will drive 6.2 engine mileage 13.9mpg New SLT 2 weel drive 5.3 engine mileage 15mpg at most with their promises on paper 16-24 Headlights are total garbage and dangerous to drive in dark situations, and finally the metallic paint looks like factory forgot to mix the paint before and just painted the way it is. If you have same rtuck and your opinion is diffirent than mine let me know.

Great Truck
Great truck, quiet, versatile, and decent fuel economy for a truck. Best truck I've owned to date. I'm the second owner of this truck, and at 105,xxx miles I've only had one issue, the condenser had a leak and was replaced. I now have ~ 113,000 miles, replaced the front brake pads and all tires. This truck is solid. I had to replace the rear driver side power door lock since my last update. The truck know has ~125,xxx miles. Just recently had some paint flake off my driver side rear door as well . starting to see some paint bubbling on the rocker panels. At ~ 134,xxx miles I am also starting to see some rust in the fender wells of the box. no mechanical issues since last update.

Rust, water and break dust...
Beautiful luxo Blue color. Really nice looking truck. Loaded to the moon. Lots of storage and a lock box under the console. Decent height... But does everything work? No. No it doesnt. I had it a week and the 3rd break light was cracked and leaking water. Read up on it... common problem. Noticed the paint pealing on the bottom of the front passenger door. Looked that up... common in vehicles manufactured in Fort Wayne. Of course that's the sticker in my drivers door. Can we talk about the excessive brake dust? To the point where there's so much heat coming from the brakes that my custom rims are peeling... Alsowhen applying the brakes on the highway there's shaking coming from the rear. The AC doesnt work anymore. Went on a highway ride, about an hour and a half and anything that touched the lower half of the truck...chipped the paint. It looks like it was sand blasted. The threads on the steering wheel are coming loose. The exhaust rattles bad when going from 20mph to 30 mph. Frame is rusty. There are rust spots in the wheel wells. I haven't looked into this yet but I currently smell antifreeze. I still have my 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd and it doesnt have any of these issues. She has a little bit of surface rust. I wish I rebuilt my 2500hd instead of buying this GMC. I got ripped off for sure. Total lemon. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear.

Frustrated GMC owner
I have had my GMC Sierra for 2.5 years. Overall I have been pleased with this truck. The truck has a smooth ride and is a pleasure to drive on long trips. My only gripe up until recently is the poor visibility of the headlights. Six weeks ago I had an accident with a deer which caused damage to the grill and a condenser located behind the grill which made the vehicle inoperable. I went to my local body shop where the parts were ordered. A day later the body shop informed me that the condenser was back ordered and according to the GMC parts dealer it was on national back order. I waited a week at which time the body shop informed me that the GMC dealer could not give them any time frame on when the back ordered part would be available. I then contacted the GMC dealer where I purchased the vehicle and had it serviced regularly to inquire about the back ordered part. The parts department advised me that the condenser was on national back order and they had no idea when it might be available. I contacted GMC directly and was told they had no information. So after six weeks of frustration and no help from GMC my truck sits in the drive way as I continue to wait for some kind of response from GMC. My family and I have been long time owners of several Chevrolet and GMC vehicles. this will be my last GM vehicle. As soon as my lease ends this October I will be looking to purchase a Ram or Ford Truck.

Love The GMC
The truck has been great! I purchased with 29k miles on it and I have put 20k on it from a 50.1 mile trip to work everyday. The truck rides and drives great. With the 6 cylinder engine I have been getting an average of 20.2 mpg. Not the greatest but I believe it's better than the same truck with the 5.3 motor. I did my research and I thought, do I really want a full-size pick-up with a 6 cylinder engine/ Through the research it can tow the same amount as the 5.3L but at a cheaper price initially for than the 5.3L, plus I don't tow a lot. With that being said; the smaller engine theoretically should have cheaper maintenance costs and being the base model with the smaller rims the tires are cheaper too. This exact model definitely seemed the biggest bang for my buck. I still have not purchased tires because the tread is still good and it did well in the 4 ft. snow storm. The only money I have put into it are brakes, rotors and a headlight unit upgrade for $365 that I installed myself as well as running boards that weren't present at the time of buying the truck.

3 radiators in 95k miles
95k miles on the truck, so far 3 radiators ( same issue all 3 times leaking at seam between radiator and endcap, no warranty coverage, thanks GM!). Also 1 A/C condenser also no warranty coverage! Truck rides good and is quite inside but reliability is awful compared to my three prior half ton GM trucks. Headlights are also awful especially when it is raining. I will be selling truck ASAP and going to another brand would not recommend

Rusting away to nothing after 5 years
Beware of undercarriage corrosion if you live where roads are salted. My truck spent 5 years in Vermont, has a good history of regular services and has been kept clean. It still looks great, but the frame and most of the underside look like unprotected metal that has spent a few years in the sea. There was little/no factory protection. It will be dangerous in a few years. The dealer applied some rust preventative per a TSB but it's already failed. I've basically been told to "live with it" by the dealer and the zone rep. I'll never buy another GM product.

Rolling Dissapointment...
I have owned my GMC Sierra Denali for around 4 years. I have to say, it has been in the shop just a smidgen outside of warranty two times and has honestly been a tremendous disappointment. GMC stepped in after some social media prodding and covered the cost of one repair since it was a known issue (ac lines rubbing and rupturing) but rather than pay for a recall and install a simple bracket they just roll the dice. I also had to pay the $200 diagnostics at the dealership... ALSO, my trailer brake system malfunctioned and I have had multiple electronic issues from the power stearing dying mid trip to the back up camera freaking out. Now, this went away after the trailer brake control that I had never used was replaced but it wasn't covered. It was $800 all said and done. The door seals on the driver side door are misaligned and have been to the dealership twice to no resolution. It is more noisy than a blow dryer in my ear on the highway. Also, this model was rushed out not featuring the 3G, NFC charger, or other features that were advertised. The 2015 did however add them, along with the AC bracket. Furthermore the resale value is trash. I admit, I bought a Denali... I know it is an overpriced SLT with a stamp that makes it cost more, but still.. The fair trade in is laughable. I will drive it as long as it functions as a result, and have bought my last truck form GMC (my last sierra started fouling plugs every week with oil getting in, I should not have given them a second chance. (2009-2014 RIP)

Loved it until it started to break down
I have a 6.2L Denali which I loved until transmission and engine failed before hitting the 70K miles and i really take care of my cars!!!!!
Great truck
I bought my truck two years ago with 150,000 miles, I'm almost at 200,000 now and it still runs great. I haven't had many issues with it especially considering the mileage. I only had to take it to the dealer once to get the A/C fixed but other then that the only complaints I would have are the occasional check engine light for an O2 sensor that always ends up going away and it does have a little shake at highway speeds but its nothing that really bother me. When I first bought the truck the headlights were AWFUL but after I replaced the halogen bulbs with better ones I haven't had any visibility issues. I have no regrets buying this truck and would definitely recommend it.

Vilified transmissions or poor truck drivers?
I like this truck a lot and I've tried them all, starting with a '87 Nissan, a '98 Ford, '00 Toyota Tacoma, a '04 chevy silverado, and '06 dodge ram (now a different co? What gives?) and this GMC is a powerful, comfortable, and reliable steel safety cage of a truck - we have an ACTUAL horse farm, tow REAL horses and tractors, and I live in SF, so I go out to Petaluma and back, three four times a week, up the grade to the GG Bridge in traffic, driving around the streets of SF in a truck too big to live here. So. To say this is hard working truck is putting it lightly. This is the best truck I've had, mostly because all truck companies make huge advances every year. 29,000 miles in, I'm having some power loss on the hills of SF, a reluctance to go from gear to gear as traffic allows. Not real problems, mind you, but a general sense that I'm headed into the realm of transmission problems (hardly ever the actually transmission but the transfer cases and whatnot). My problem is something that can generally be rectified with a tune up, but I came on here to look at other folks issues with their 2014 sierras, just in case there was an issue others knew about that I should have checked out. Turns out I'm probably better off on the web boards. The reviews here are iffy. I'm surprised at the number of reviews details folks' issues with the Nav System and the headlights. You know you can change those out, right? Doesn't really affect the truck's performance. Obnoxious, but then, I'm equally surprised by the amount of folks' thinking they have problems with the transmission or the engine being hesitant at lower speeds - it occurs to me that there are more people in big trucks who aren't really knowledgeable about how to drive them. So, I write all this to beg those of you who are looking at trucks to ignore warnings about the engine or transmission being weak or unreliable or the front end being wonky - and remind potential truck buyers that opinions are [non-permissible content removed], everybody has one. I highly doubt anyone who was looking for a hard working truck and bought this one has anything bad to say about the 2014 GMC Sierra. But, if you were looking for a flashy fancy truck, you're right, probably should have stuck with the Ford.

No need to trade
Only concerns are long wheelbase when it comes to parking. That's my only complaint. Mine has 6.2 aluminum engine which is not listed in the options for this review with aftermarket Borla cat-back exhaust system. Enjoyed the engine brake feature. Did not really need to trade up, however my wife pushed me into it. Now I have an '19 equivalent (plus) model and am not real happy with it. Should not have traded up.

Love my RCSB truck
I currently have 110,000 miles on my truck and have had no problems with it. No air conditioner problems or transmission problems as I have seen in the other reviews. The only option I was able to choose was the 4.3. However I have the 5.3 SLT 2 wheel drive. The only thing negative I would say about it is that it holds 9 quarts of oil.

Slow learner
Do not buy a GMG. My husband and I have purchased for GMC’s and each time the problems we encountered we thought was something we had done. The most recent a 2014 has had nothing but problems. One driver vehicle and maintenance regularly, yet it has been nothing but a problem. I strongly advised against purchasing this vehicle unless you’re just Going for a cosmetic appearance. Yes they are the prettiest trucks in my opinion but the transmission is faulty and now the engine. Again, this is our third no actually are four brand new GMC never will I ever purchased another GMC truck. Talk to your mechanic or a mechanic before you purchase one of these vehicles

2014 GMC Sierra TW 1500 6ft Bd
I purchased this vehicle brand new had 5 miles on it when it came off the lot. First issue i had drive shaft was unbalanced truck Vibration at 65 mph 2nd issue i was heading home after work once after dark sitting at red light all gauges started jumping back and fourth oil pressure dropped to - O then jumped back to 45 psi. The traction control light kept coming on after even after changing the switch on rear right wheel. Lights Lamps would go off and truck would shutdown but would restart. Taking it to the dealer about 10 or 11 times they claimed they couldn't find the issue. 2017 my wife drove it to work one day and on her way home the power steering locked up she went into a ditch going into a corner and ended up in a ditch hitting a Calvert total the truck out. After my insurance company paid the truck off and took the truck 3 weeks later I got a letter in the mail from GM recall on the electric power steering to take it to my nearest dealer. I called the dealer asked them about the recall issue they said if the power steering fails it could locked up the steering and you couldn't control the vehicle. Well needless to say it was a little too late for that. I only had 15 months left on the truck so money was down the drain..

Everything that I wanted in a truck and more.
I had certain needs" and certain "wants" when I went looking for a truck in 2014. My GMC Sierra 1500 met then all plus gave me some nice extras that I didn't even know were available. As I'm a big guy (6'4" and 265 lb.) I needed a vehicle with legroom. This had it aplenty. Also had programmable (2) settings to return the seats to where I wanted after someone had moved them. Discovering heated AND air-conditioned seats (leather) was a nice surprise. Indirect lighting in the truck bed was, as well. A 120VAC outlet for household gadgets was also a very pleasant find. One of my "needs" was power folding (along with adjustable) mirrors as I couldn't get this big baby into my garage without folding the mirrors and it was a pain to have to get out and walk around to do this on my previous truck. After 10 years with this vehicle that only thing I was disappointed in was that the OnStar feature was not upgradeable from it's 2G to 5G so I lost the "friendly OnStar folks" to ask where the closest McDonald's is or the closest sporting goods store, etc. The GPS still functions but it has to be programmed manually. Gas mileage is pretty decent and it even runs fine on the "low-grade" 82 octane "ElCheapo" fuel available at some stations. In short I still love my truck!

Transmission Problems Galore
I purchased this truck with 80k miles on it. It's a good looking truck with a lot of nice features on it, bt don't be fooled, you are stepping into a land mine transmission & engine problems. I had to replace the transmission at 140k miles, had to replace faulty engine valve springs before that. These repairs cost over $7,000. I don't have the time or money to deal with this GM peice of garbage anymore. My next stop will be at a Toyota Dealer, at least I can get some reliability.

It gets a bad reputation that it doesn't deserve
The 2014 Sierra is a truck that gets a bad reputation that I think it doesn't deserve. I have put this truck through hell and back, and it still works without issue. It says I have the 4.3L (I don't, I have the 5.3L with the 6-speed tranny), the 5.3L is a solid engine, and the 6-speed is the best transmission I would argue as it doesn't suffer from the Chevy shake. The only legitimate criticism of this truck I think is the cylinder deactivation/AFM garbage. This is what keeps this truck from getting 5 stars for me. Luckily, I did an AFM delete on it and I haven't had any issues with a misfire since. I recommend the base model, as there is less electronics that will go wrong on the truck, and it still looks pretty nice for being 12 years old. Another thing I will say is, the fuel efficiency on this truck is actually pretty horrendous, anything telling you that It gets 16-18 MPG in the city is WRONG. If you can put up with bad fuel economy (its a truck, what do you expect), then I say choose the 2014 Sierra.

Best Truck I've ever owned.
I've owned at least one of everything including a Jeep J10. At 112,000 miles. I've not let the dealer work on it, U don't let them install problems. Where your GM product is made also makes a difference. U don't want it made in Michigan or Mexico. This one was made in Ft Wayne ID. As GMs go the finish is better than the two new trucks made in Flint. My new Ford, The Ford Motor Company would not fix. The new Dodges were disasters. Now It's a FIAT " Fix It Again Tony". Radiator cracked, AC lines broke, heater sometime leaks rain. The computer gets confused. Turn engine off and restart it. Head light are useless in the rain. ABS and Traction Control Quite when I installed LED Headlamps. Rear view mirror day/night toggle broke. Transmission shifts hard. Heater/AC does something different every time I start this truck. Radio losses it's setup with aloud pop.
