Better than all the rivals
This truck is actually fun to drive. Adequate power from the V6, Nice brakes and steering that actually gives feedback. The interior although a bit dated is nice enough. I previously owned a 2016 Colorado but stepped up to the Canyon. All in all a great truck!

2020 Canyon All-Terrain 4x4
After intensively researching new midsize trucks, I felt it was clear that the Colorado/Canyon twins were the best options (although I prefer the "truckier" front end of the Canyon). The V6/8 speed combo works fantastically well together in the city and on the highway-- it never feels out of breath, even in steep mountain driving. The Canyon drives and handles much smaller than it is-- making it very livable in parking garages and street parking-- and ride quality is superb for a truck. After owning the truck for 7 months now, I'm impressed to note that it gets 20-21 mpg in mostly city driving. That's better mileage than the V6-powered midsize car it replaced. Get one. You'll love it.

2021 AT4 GMC Canyon
I've got a little over 2K on my 2021 Canyon AT4 Quad cab short bed. There is nothing I don't like about this mid size pickup. Really glad with the redesign body in 2021 vs. prior years. The ride is smooth, seats are firm and comfortable. Enjoy the remote start. Have had to get use to actually putting a key into the ignition again. The tow rating of over 7K fits with our towing needs and we do have the tow package. The milage is quite good and auto 2/4x works great.

Reliability, thumbs down
Liked the vehicle a lot initially, great off road manners other than the low front air dam, which can be removed. But it threw a rod @ 5000 miles during normal highway driving, getting jerked around by GM with the truck at a dealer 800 miles from my home, ordering a new engine.

Ready to trade in my 2020 Canyon
This truck is...disappointing. Mainly due to the glitchy electrical system. Radio issues, cruise control issues, power seat issues, shifting gear issues, and brake issues. And it is only 2 months old!!!
Stay away from the 2020 GMC Canyon
Transmission and electrical issues on my brand new GMC with only 4K miles. GMC and dealer know of the issues but won't do anything to fix. Stay away from this vehicle.

2021 GMC Canyon Elevation 2WD POS!!!!
My transmission is already having issues. When I put it in reverse it jerks really bad. You can definitely hear metal banging. This started with less than 230 miles on the truck. Not it has 707 miles and today on the freeway at 55 mph it stated shaking violently. I went straight to the dealership where I purchased it. They advised me it was the steering column linkage. The dam truck has a floor shifter lol. This truck looks expensive but it's a real POS!!!! I bought on 05282021, the dealership won't even give me a loaner vehicle to check the vehicle out for 2 weeks. Besides that to top it off the paint on the left fender has a major manufacturer defect. Tge paint is messed up and they said they have a body shop will repair it. Keep in I bought this truck brand new with 6 miles on it. Vehicle purchased a Suburban Buick GMC Cadillac of Costa Mesa, Ca I'm extremely upset and disappointing that they would rather me drive an unsafe vehicle for 2 more weeks and jeopardize my safety and my families. If anyone from general motors corporate reads this please help me thank you

My last new vehiclel!!
I ordered my new 2021 Canyon and it took about 8 weeks to arrive at Bocker Motors in Freeport IL. I have about 200 miles on it as I write this,,,,Its the top of the line and listed out about $49,050 with tax and license...Only 2 things I wish was better is a tinted windshield and a better finish cover up of the pinch weld seam on the bottom of cab.The new colored interior in Lt. coaco is wonderful...ride is good and optional intake and exhaust sound great...I got a white one and reason was I didn't like the colors offered ,,also the $1000 up charge for colors may be a deal breaker for some buyers,,I never owned a white vehical before,,[non-permissible content removed].....The new front end looks bold and makes truck look bigger also....

great truck
Purchased my Canyon AT4 in February 2021 and have about 3K miles on it so far it has been a great truck. I downsized from a full size 2018 Sierra and the Canyon works great for me as I mostly use it to tow my bass boat. I like the size of the truck as it is easier to get it in and out of my single door garage. It tows my bass boat great with al the power I need from the V6! The only complaint I have is the door pocket storage is useless and I wish it had a CD player as I have a ton of CD's that I have not burned to a USB. If you like a truck ride then the AT4 is what you want as I like that type ride in a truck.

It’s a beaut Clark
I bought the 2021 GMC Canyon Elevation 2wd. I absolutely love it! This is my first GMC and I have to say the inside is probably the nicest I’ve ever had on a truck. I have the v6 which has plenty of power. The truck looks great also! I also think it makes you feel like your driving a full size truck. Compared to my 2017 Nissan Frontier.Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a new truck.

Nice Truck until you buy one
I have the 4x4 Denali Crew Cab, it has a lot of nice features. However, GMC started charging a monthly fee to use their phone APP, I think it's $15.00 a month for something that was previously free. You can't send destinations to it or use the remote lock or start unless you pay a monthly fee. GM Charge for Extra fee for updated maps for navigation. That's on top of OnStar subscription or Sirius XM. My navigation won't recognize Estes Park or other destinations it routes me to Estes Parker? or Colorado Texas. The voice recognition to tell it to call someone doesn't work properly or at all so hands free to change navigation or to make a call while driving doesn't work. In the mornings after the vehicle has sat when taking off it's starts out ok then the power drops like a delay in shifting or loss of power. I've Had GMC dealership look at this today and they say nothing is wrong with it and the navigation issue is just software. The leather seats are basically seat covers and they are hard as a rock. The Chrome on the Side Mirrors look nice but I photograph wildlife from my vehicle which the chrome creates terrible reflections and ruins my photos. I'm just about ready to trade it in for other make entirely. I'm tired GM charging extra monthly for things that should be included on the vehicle it's approaching $50,000 for the vehicle. I'm tired of the hands free system not working which is a safety issue. My 2014 Sierra did not have those issues the phone controls etc. worked fine. If you invest this much in a small truck you want all the bells and whistles to work, not just release something and hope you can eventually get it to work.

I specifically ordered my 2021 in 2020 and received it late October. 2WD crew short box with the 2.5 gas 4cyl and the 6 speed auto. I've put 54k kilometers on my truck already and it's been flawless. I've towed with it and loaded the box right up completely maxing out my payload. Not a problem. For a cheap near no option truck I am very impressed. 74k miles on the clock and it's still awesome 👍

2021 Canyon AT4...Great looks, Awful reliability!
On the good side, the truck looks great! Mine is dark gray with red accents and all the bells and whistles! I’m always getting positive comments on it...that’s where the good stops however. First issue: My check engine light came on at just over 600 miles prompting my online diagnostics to tell me to take my car in for service within one day. It was the Engine Control Unit (basically the onboard computer). It took about 4 days to get a new one and a day for the repair. Second issue: This ones not a big deal, but it shows a quality control issue. I noticed a part just dangling from the front end one day (roughly 700 miles at this point). It looked to be a very cheaply made sensor and I couldn’t quite get it back in its place. Another trip to the dealership! It was outside temperature sensor. The tech was able to plug it back in after about an hour. Probably a good time to mention that this a 42,000 dollar truck with cheap plastic materials. Third issue: My fault for not catching this immediately, but I was parking outside on gravel and didn’t notice the fluid leak! Got my garage built and after the first night of parking on clean concrete, there it was...a puddle of oily fluid! 3k miles at this point by the way! Another trip to the dealership! The fluid was coming from the front differential plug. I was told that that the drain plug had been improperly machined at the factory (45 degree angle vs. straight up and down), so that when the drain plug was installed it was, of course, mis-threaded! So they had to replace the entire casing. As I write this, they have had my truck for 19 days! GM initially shipped them a bare casing...none of the other necessary parts to properly fix it! After another shipment, they still did send everything that was needed! I mentioned quality control earlier...there is a big problem here! I’m now being told it will be another 3 days! Makes me wonder what is really going on with this repair! Fourth issue: This one is unresolved at present. Under normal driving conditions (no towing, hauling, etc.) when going up or down hills the transmission doesn’t shift properly leading to high engine RPMs (3500-4000). This is an 8 Speed transmission! The shop foreman stated that this was normal. Really? I really wanted to love this truck, but now I’m just wondering what’s going to happen next. Another extremely frustrating thing is trying to deal with GM customer service! It’s a 1-800 number that leaves you wanting to set yourself on fire! I can’t count the number of times I was disconnected, waiting for a rep! When I finally got to speak to someone, I couldn’t understand them or got disconnected while on hold! They had my number, but never bothered to call me back! Their motto is “Professional Grade”...it should be “Amateur Hour”!

Love It - But Not Really a Denali
As far as the mid-size trucks go, the Canyon Denali is tops in the luxury department. However, as nice as it is, I don't feel like it lives up to the expectation one should have when purchasing a Denali. Something as simple as having to physically insert a key in the ignition feels antiquated. Having to press unlock on the key fob, versus the truck sensing it's presence and unlocking when you pull the handle is missing. The leather seats are quality until you look for adjustments. Everything with the base of the seat is electric but the tilt for the seat back is an old mechanical handle. Speaking of seats, there is no position memory at all. Not only does it not sense your key fob and return to your driver specific settings, there are no memory settings at all. Manually readjust everything with driver changes. The leather work inside is very nice, but there is still too much plastic in obvious areas where other luxury packages would include leather. The woodgrain inserts are not wood and are VERY obviously plastic. Don't misunderstand. Relative to all other mid-size offerings, it is still a very nice truck and I do not regret the purchase at all. However, it simply falls short of the look/feel/quality that should come with the Denali badge.

Best truck I have owned!
I purchased my 2021 GMC Canyon Denali Black onyx brand new without ever opening the door. I had it delivered to my house, signed papers and took it for a drive! I knew nothing about it! I love the truck! I have driven the truck from coast to coast and it was very comfortable! I did remove the running boards and the front air dam, thought they looked hideous. Only issue was a dead cell in the battery. The truck tows my camper with ease and handles very well! I now have 10,000 miles and I am super happy with my purchase! Yes, it lacks some luxury equipment but oh well, the enjoyment of driving it makes up for it! The v6 is strong and has a nice exhaust note. The electronic rear locker works beautifully! Would definitely buy again!

Would give 0 stars if possible.
Have owned vehicle for 113 days. It has been in the shop for 36 of those days!! Non-stop electrical issues! The center console is a complete nightmare! Volume will randomly max out and you can’t turn it off! Only way to get it to stop is by turning the vehicle off, you can’t do that on a highway. The center console also constantly restarts and if you happen to have your phone plugged in it can hard freeze your phone. Also reported transmission issues with hard shifts and clangs and gmc’s response was it just does that! Customer service is also a nightmare, they tell you they will call back in 24-48 hours, your lucky to get a call back in 2 weeks. I am currently in the buyback process they never respond and refuse to provide a rental car when they work on my car. (Btw I payed for extended warranty and rental protection). I will posting all videos of the truck messing up for proof of my complaints. Just don’t buy this truck! Get anything else and avoid gmc in general!

Outdated truck
This truck was more expensive than a Tacoma and lacks many of it's features. Has more repair bills and problems gas mileage is poor, transmission clunks and shakes around town ride is terrible so sorry I bought it, and can't wait till I can afford to get rid of it. Don't buy you will be disappointed like me.
It's an eye turner !
Nice truck rides very good. The wife loves it too. What I like is it's a true mid-size , not a little tin can.

Denali - Just a little more luxury
Ride is very comfortable. We took long trip with wife and kids and wife remarked how plush it was. My only wish is for a Tech Upgrade: there’s No adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist (I’ve since come to appreciate not having push button start, since thieves know how to use it). And it lacks a lot of rear seat storage. After two-years, it has held up well with no issues. Power is strong for passing and from the start. I’ve no mechanical or quality issues.

Love my truck
I bought this truck with under 8000 miles on the odometer. Now has 22,500. So far, zero issues. I have only owned Mazda, toyota, lexus, infiniti, nissan's and honda's up until now. This has been my son's truck because as a single mom, we needed a truck for the normal homeownership things and towing ability. After driving his truck around the last couple of weeks, I decided I'm trading in my Infiniti SUV for a car for him and I'm driving this truck! All in all it's a great truck! Fuel mileage in town is okay unless I sit and idle letting the engine run, hwy mileage I'm getting 24. The seats are a little stiff, but I believe that to be the AT4 trim. I'm going to get seat covers with some cushion and that should resolve. The truck handles well on snow conditions and off road. The deciding factor for me on keeping this truck vs my infiniti is value. It is holding it's value EXTREMELY well while the QX60 seems to lose value by the day! The truck is also rugged enough for me to feel comfortable to load landscaping items, top soil etc and not worry about messing up the back. I am going to change the headlights to LED, add a Tonneau cover so I can throw bags in the back and add at least a driver's seat cover and this truck is everything I need. A full size truck won't fit in my garage nor would it have the maneuverability of the Canyon. Happy with this purchase

Tough but stylish
Why buy a larger truck when this has it all. Sharp looking too.
Dash lights not working
These trucks have been rock solid since day one, my 1991 has same motor (3.6), honestly you can't kill them. My 2021 Canyon has some type of electrical problem with the dash lights not working on the sensor or the switch. The dealer had it for a full day, checked all the modules and said every seems to be OK on that end. But lights still don't work properly. I'm wondering if it is the main ground like the issue on the 2001 - 2008.

6 Weeks and DONE!
I had my FIRST, brand new, 2020 Colorado for 4 weeks when I noticed it began to jerk. My husband tried convincing me it was because it was a 4 cyl but no, not even. Two weeks later, it jerked while driving 70 on the highway and I drove it directly to the dealership and demanded a loaner. They had my NEW truck for 4 weeks before informing me it needed a "NEW", new alternator. By this time, I hadn't even made my first truck payment yet. I demanded a replacement vehicle and was told by the repair department manager that that was not possible and GMC does not do that. I wrote a negative review on the dealership, filed a complaint with my credit union loan department then contacted the dealership's general manager directly. Within two weeks, they found me a New 2020 Canyon, transferred my step bars to the new truck, sprayed my bed AND gave me a rubber, sprayed floor lining. I was happy with the replacement and the speed of it but I still have it in the back of my head how the alternator went out on a brand new truck. GMC was always my go to vehicle. Not i question them.
Updated review. Still same uncomfortable and issue
I am one year into my g m c Canyon Evolution Edition and I still hate it. The first car ever had to buy seat cushions and a back cushion. The ride is even more uncomfortable than it was before the cabin noise is awful. And of course that mean that I have to adjust the side view mirrors all the time and there's no way to do that other than rolling down the window . Since there are no Adjusters inside the cabin . I am still having electrical issues now the center console display will disappear and then come back. First trip to mechanic quote "couldn't find anything ' I go back next week. The truck looks good is that is about it. I highly advise anyone to get something else.

Love It!!!
I have approx. 500 miles on my 2021 GMC Canyon Elevation Std and I love it. I got the Dynamic Blue with black wheels, installed GMC black side steps and a spray in bed liner. It turns heads where ever I go. I Have ordered a tonneau cover and a black front grill guard. I also have the v-6 and tow pkg. It's a great truck, performance and looks all in one

Stuck throttle in 4 low
When the truck is in 4 low and transmission locked in 1st gear the throttle will stick between 1700-2200 rpm’s. That is with my truck and two others I test drove.

I bought a lemon 2020 GMC Canyon
I have had my 2020 GMC Canyon into the dealership multiple times to get repaired for clunking and chattering which you feel through your seat while ordinary driving down the road. The first time in they said not much they can do and will wait on a firmware update which should fix the issue. Second time in they said they found a bulletin describing this issue and GMC recommended changing to a heavy weight oil be added to the Torque converter this didn’t fix the problem. Now I’m bringing it back in for a third time hopefully they will take this issue more seriously and fix this problem for good, if not I’m going to demand GMC to look into this major defect in their Canyon trucks.

5 cylinder Canyon for sale.
My Canyon has 21,000 miles on it. Then it died! It did not run without keeping my foot on the pedal til I got off the road. Turns out the rocker arm and spring broke and so the valve got bent. It has been in the shop for 4 weeks now waiting for a head gasket. It seems they can’t find one to fix it. GMC always send me an email asking if my day is good. Really! I missed my vacation and have not had a truck for 4 weeks. Do they not make head gaskets anymore!? I had a Ford that never let me down but I wanted a smaller truck so I chose the Canyon Denali. Boy am I disappointed. And all I get from GMC is that they will fix it as soon as they get the part. I was also worried about the fact that if one valve went out what was to prevent the other valves from going out. I thought they should replace all the rocker arms and springs but they said they only fix what’s broken and I’m still waiting 4 weeks later for that fix.

Great truck when it started
Beautiful truck with lots of extras, comfortable and spacious. It had a great ride and superb towing capabilities. That saying, it had electrical drain that would kill the battery within a few days. The truck was in the shop (at two different dealerships) for months at a time because the drain could not be located. It is possible that the drain was eventually fixed, but by that time we were in the process of a buy back by General Motors.
