The Acadia SLT-1 is a great suv

The Acadia SLT-1 is a great suv. It rides smooth and quiet. The spacious interior is wonderful for family trips. Each passenger has personal space, a cup holder, front and rear air, and USB ports. This instrument panel looks nice and is easy to use.

Great for the first 15,000

Factory tires are a joke and made with softer rubber. GM is aware and it was the discretion of the dealership to share the info. At 18,000 miles I had 4 bald tires. They cover a portion of it under warrenty. The tire guy has to call Michelin with the mileage and size of tread if any. We did get 70% off new ones. Two days later I started experiencing the "SHIFT TO PARK" error. It's in park and I try to shut it off but it doesnt register being in park. This prevents the car from locking and causes nonstop dinging that will ultimately drain your battery. You have to turn it on/off again multiple times, jiggle the stick, hit the brake until it magically decides it's good. It now happens EVERY time I shut it down. There is no fix. Again GM is aware and left it to the discretion of the dealership to share the info. Now i'm stuck in a lease for a PITA car that I can't properly use. Save yourself the heartache - buy something else!~

We love our Denali

My wife found the new Acadia while I was buying my Canyon. She loved the new down size as she had a Terrain and never likes the larger Acadia size. The Denali we found was on a very good rebate and made for a super buy. We got everything on it. One item many dealers do not have on most Denali models is the electronic tuned handling suspension. We almost did not get it till we drove one and it was well worth the money. It turns sport mode into a SSEI like touring sedan handling with a better ride. As for the third row and storage criticism it is not an issue for us as we folded the third row when we bought it and never used it since. The space is more than our Terrain was and suits us fine. The only issue is the latch on the sun roof cover in front. It is plastic and breaks even not using it. I made my own catch in Aluminum. We are please and would not hesitate again to buy one. 2/11/19 To update we are still thrilled with our Acadia. The roof latch was replaced with an improved latch and no other issues have been experienced. Still would buy it again in a heartbeat. Now in 2020 still happy with the Acadia. Only real issues were the sun shade latch breaking. It was covered under warranty. The OE Michelin tires were flat worn out by 20,000 miles. Went to Goodyear Weather Ready with much better results.

Transmission shifting issues and GM doesn't care!

Like others have stated here, my 2018 Arcadia Denali came out of the show room with issues shifting from 2nd to 3rd. There seems to be a long delay regardless of how the throttle is handled. Took it to two separate dealers in WI. Said there were no codes set and no issues to address and sent me on my way. I opened a case with GM and the "senior" customer rep told me that if there dealer says there is nothing wrong with it, they can't "or won't?" do anything about it. I hate driving this thing not knowing how or when it is going to shift is so unpredictable. My body gets thrown forward upon acceleration waiting for the gear to kick in. I have had people riding with me thinking I am pressing on the brake at the same time. Very annoying. The last dealer I went to for this issue, I had to listen to a shpeel from the tech accusing me of not knowing how to drive this car! Telling me all kinds of stories about this particular 6T transmission just so I don't come back again complaining. Long story short, this is my very first GM vehicle and it will my last one. GM only cares about selling cars and doesn't care to stand behind their products and certainly customers are never right. Luckily for me, this is a lease and in two more years I will drop it back in the dealer and never look back to GM for anything. I don't even know how they are still in business with this attitude.

Pros- The safety features are really nice, lane assist is my favorite for long drives. Cons- There is almost no trunk space at all with third row in use. I repeat, if you plan to use the third row you will only be able to fit a few bags of groceries in this thing. Our family also owns a 2014 Buick Enclave, which is a better vehicle even being 5 years older. More space, better ride, nicer interior etc. My last vehicle was a 2017 Ford Explorer. It beats the Acadia in every category I can think of. Since the Acadia is a company provided car, this review is without bias. Also, upon delivery my transmission sprung a leak and lost all its fluid stranding my wife and kids (it only had 20 miles on it). The dealership near me was an absolute nightmare to deal with.
