Traded 12 Acadia AWD Denali for 17 AWD Denali
After test driving a new Acadia compared to my 2012, I had mixed emotions liking some things, missing others. My wife on the other hand loved it and for the first time ever asked that we upgrade to this model after she drove it. It was easier to control, see out of, and more comfortable. I debated it for a while liking the improved gas mileage, ability to select FWD or AWD, and yes improved comfort! What I missed was silly like folding mirrors, HUD, and cargo aka sheet of plywood. I wanted a rare black on tan which no one had because black seats are freakin hot so we ordered ours. I took great liberty and loaded it with every option available as I plan to drive this for a long time. I have the technology, cargo, floor liner, exterior, performance ride & handling, dual sunroof, info\navigation, 6 passenger, read headset dvds, and trailer hitch. It came in on a thrs and we drove to FL on friday. Let me tell you how impressed we were with it! It handles like a car even loaded down with luggage, kids, and pets! We no longer have that top heavy roll in the mountains or off ramps, the mileage improved from 13mpg to 24 (remember I said loaded down versus empty). The cruise control is easy, the braking warning is handy, and the lane drift not only warns you but actually corrects the vehicle if you dont respond which is very cool and a nice safety feature. The visibility is great but I am catching myself using the 360 camera system more and more, the screen shows a split of rear view and a top down virtual image like the commercials show which help if you are blindly backing up say you are parked between two large SUVs or trucks. That has saved the wife and me so many times now it isnt funny but valuable! The engine has more horsepower than before and it is pretty quick for this leadfoot living in the city of the Indianapolis 500 and braking is impressive for a SUV again better than the old model. As others have mentioned I do get the occasional transmission delay when turning and accelerating at low rpm but that is a larger technical issue now with computer controlled trannies. Yes they need to improve it but again, if you give it a little juice it quickly responds and throttles you into gear so more of a nuisance than issue. I have yet to trailer anything yet but the crossrails are actually wider and longer than the old model due to their engineering and we haul kayaks and bikes off the hitch a lot without any issues. It is very quiet and comfortable inside. I love the heated\cooled seats in tan which reflect a lot of heat in summer and the heated steering wheel is nice this artic winter. Driving 15hrs to FL I was never uncomfortable and these seats are wider with more adjustments than the old model including heated rear seats! Another improvement is the leg room in the rear. The old model sat flat in the back meaning your feet just a few inches below your rear and your knees were high in the air which was uncomfortable. They fixed that with lower interior wheel wells so your knees are now down even with your rear-end and much more comfy! I do miss my heads up display still but the dash is well done and you dont really need it and I wish the mirrors reclined automatically but I accept it. The only real complaint that I have is the narrower body where I can no longer get a sheet of plywood into it but someone asked me why am I hauling lumber in it anyway. I look forward to see if they make any improvements in the coming models like a 10speed transmission and I am intrigued by the slightly larger traverse so wouldn't an Acadia XL be a neat idea like the yukon and yukon xl?

Very Pleased
Well handling, efficient vehicle. Test drove a Honda Pilot. Liked the feel and handling of the Acadia better than the Pilot.

Awesome Vehicle
I downsized from a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT All Terrain to a 2017 GMC Acadia SLT1 All Terrain. The new version of the Acadia (interior) is a smaller version of the Sierra. I love them both. Awesome vehicles. I have the upgraded version of the Acadia with the 20" tires/rims. Handles great. AWD feature had the Acadia handle well in the snow. Very comfortable leather bucket seats. Electronics sync with phone. Never have to touch the phone once its plugged in. GMC did a fantasic job with the downsized 2017 Acadia.

Live with your mistakes
PRO’s; “New, October 1 st, 2018 Acadia Denali,” Love the looks, performance ok, (V6), fuel economy, ok, (19 mpg city & 26 mph hwy avg), all of the bells & whistles, 2 free oil changes. The CON’s; it rides like a truck, a rough riding one. I have a 2010 Sportstrac Limited that rides and drives much better that my Acadia. Dealer has said there isn’t any way to fix the ride, they even lowered the tire pressure down to 30 psi & it didn’t help, just made it handle worse, vehicle continues to creep towards the left lane, (dealer said the fixed the issue, not so, outside fumes enter into the cabin, especially diesel & exhaust from vehicles in traffic, that’s even with the controls set on circulation. For the $49,980 I spent on it I could have bought 2 Foreign cars. At least I wouldn’t expect them to have the aledged quality that GMC advertises. I made a big(expensive), mistake but I garrentee it won’t happen again !. PS:It is a 2018 not 2017, had front end alignment, tire pressures from 30# to 35#, rebalanced all tires, no help. UPDATE: At 20,000 miles there are a couple of thing that has changed. #1 the latch for the rear sun roof shade has been broken for 3 months. Dealer continues to tell me it’s on back order. #2 the blower fan motor makes a low squealing sound, ever since it was brand new. #3 there is a noise the sounds like it’s coming from the drive train, like a bearing is slowly grinding itself up. #4 the automatic adjusting rear view mirrors will not return to the original setting after backing up, you have to manually reset them to see out of them correctly. Dealer says they can’t duplicate any of the sounds & they can’t duplicate the mirror issues. Dropped 1 star on the overall rating. Like my previous statement, biggest mistake I’ve made in purchasing a GMC product, won’t happen again. “ UPDATE”, The driver side rear view mirror is suppose to reset To your pre set position every time you back up. It will not return to the original setting. I’ve had it in the shop numerous times. There was a clicking sound coming from the left front when turning to the left, thought it might be a CV joint. Dealer said that the left front lug nuts has a recall on them, just the left front wheel, really. Still have grinding noise coming from trans / motor. Dealer said it sounds like the new ones or they can’t duplicate the issue. It’s about time they come up with a new saying, I’ve heard this one on every issue since 2018, boy want a piece of junk, a $48,987.00 piece if junk. This is the 2 nd GM vehicle that I have owned since 2013 and I have bought my LADT GM vehicle. The first was a 2013 Terrain Denali. After 4 air conditioning replacements and a rebuilt engine because of bad rings I traded for another piece of junk, the 2018 Acadia Denali. Rest assured there WONT be another GM mistake ! ! !. Now there is some type of electrical issue with it because the battery has been replaced 2 times already. The alternator gauge will show approx. 12-13 volts for a extended period of time, the radio will automatically change stations and will put a bunch of strange numbers on the touch screen. I took a picture of the screen and showed it to the service Mgr. He says they don’t have a clue how to fix it. They keep telling me that my battery is under warranty and to just have it replace when it goes dead again. This has happened 2 times and has left my wife stranded. Car has to be jumped started to get it back to the shop. “UPDATE”: the radio makes a clicking sound and then changes the entire screen on the dash. I have to reprogram the stations every time. Dealer says they can’t find anything wrong with it. I had to turn the automatic rear view mirrors off because they wound NEVER stay where they were set but the drivers rear view mirror still has a mind of its own. Every time I get in it the mirror changes position. I was rear ended 6 months ago, got it repaired, tried to trade it only to find out that there is a carfax report on my vehicle and the trade value was reduced by 6-7 thousands dollars. Looks like I will keep my suv until the wheels fall off of it. All of this has been a very valuable learning lesson for me. I have tried to trade my Acadia for anything that is comparable in size & accessories but NO dealer would offer more than rough trade, (NADA), so it looks like I will be driving it until the wheels fall off. I did buy an extended warranty on it and I have had to use it numerous times in the past year. At least the extended warranty fixed the issues each time. With the prices for a different vehicle I have reached a decision and that is I have learned to be comfortable being uncomfortable. I’ve had my Acadia in the shop to fix the drivers rear view mirror fixed for the last 4 years. It never goes to its previous setting. They work on it and say it’s fixed and within 2 weeks it’s right back like it was before. This is very dangerous unless you reset the mirror before you drive it. I paid 45 + thousands dollars for this ? Bottom line is I will not ever buy another GMC from this dealer in Dickinson Texas.
