Product Choices
2017 Acadia (including Denali trim) is not available with directional signal lights in the exterior mirrors--nearly all other vehicles offer that. Limited color choice in Denali trim, most are extra cost. Six-speed automatic when industry trend is to eight and nine speeds. Front seats could use a thigh extender, a feature found on the Toyota Highlander. Premium radio only comes with eight speakers--competition offers more. Many folks still have their CDs; why not offer an optional CD player, as some competitors do?
Re: Apple CarPlay
Final update 8+ years later w/101,000 miles. Again, this was not a used SUV at the time of purchase. Traded for a new car. Given 10k for the trade. No mechanical or other problems. The Acadia has served my family and I well over the years. 5-stars! Would highly recommend for your family. Update 6+ years: My Acadia was not used as the title shows; it was brand new when I bought it in 2017. It's over 6-years-old now and I just replaced all 4 tires. Recently, my engine light turned on. Took it to the dealer and the engine and battery are fine. Learned that the upper and lower active grill shutters have failed. Both are not opening and closing causing those codes to set, (turning the engine light on). Replacement $800. Yes I'm annoyed but $800 is cheaper than a new vehicle. Otherwise, no major problems since my purchase. Fingers crossed! Update 5 years: 5 years in, still love the Acadia. No mechanical issues. Car play has improved. I would suggest, however, to GMC to add a dimmer to car play for dusk to night driving. Update 4 years: My Acadia is 4-years-old now, & I’ve had no issues with it at all. There was a recall on it pertaining to the back middle seat seatbelts which was repaired in less than 45 minutes. Apple car play is much better, and I’ve been happier with it. I still love my SUV, & I’m planning to keep it until it stops running on its own. :) Update 2 years: This year, my truck is now 2-years-old & I still love it. The only problem that I had with it is that the engine would not shut off almost a year ago. This problem was rectified by my dealer on the same day. The dealer provided me with a loaner car, the 2019 GMC Terrain (very nice truck), and they fixed the part. There have been no other challenges. Also, I’ve learned that if your cell chargers are even slightly damaged or old, they will not work well in the vehicle with Apple CarPlay. That was the problem below. Since my last comment, I’ve replaced my chargers several times and the sound system is all good. And remember, the new Acadia’s have an engine system that shuts off when you stop. That’s not an engine problem, just learn how to manipulate your way around it. The engine shut off is great! This truck gets fantastic mileage; I have a college student, we drive this truck to drop her off & pick her up on a tank of gas there & back. Good luck! I’ve owned my 2017 Acadia for 9 months and I love it. It’s large enough for the 5 of us and very comfortable. My husband is 6’4” and he’s very satisfied with the comfort level in the driver and passenger seats for his legs. We drove it about 17 hours to Florida and all passengers were just fine in reference to comfort, space, & electronics. That’s what we love about this SUV. I waited awhile to write this review after that trip to “just see” if I’d have any challenges with it and I do, unfortunately. Albeit small, but worrisome to say the least. The problem lies within my USB ports AND Apple CarPlay. The USB ports have gone bad which shouldn’t happen on a 9-month-old car, but they have & I’m having them repaired at my next oil change. This vehicle is still under warranty which is good, but there’s no reason that this should be occurring. Neither port works well and my CarPlay shuts off and on periodically. One other comment: Some reviewers fail to realize that the engine on the new GMCs shut off when you come to a full stop. Learn about your transmission folks! I have learned techniques to deal with the engine shut off at lights, while parking, & when gidlocked in traffic. You’ll get used to it. There were other SUVs that I straddled the fence with including the Chevy Traverse & the Toyota Highlander, but they didn’t compare to the Acadia me. I’ve also owned a GMC Denali Yukon which I traded for another car. The Yukon, although beautiful on the exterior, is NOT larger than the Acadia nor is it better on gas - far worse! I hope that this helps! You won’t go wrong with the Acadia.

No See the CD!! and a lot of other things too
ASTOUNDED to find on driving home in my new Acadia that there is NO CD PLAYER!!!! WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED had I known this! As it is, this will be a transition car as very disappointed in quality. Have wanted Acadia for several years, had Terrain SLT2 that was a great car but just a little too small and seats too firm. But this Acadia does not have near the quality of my 2012 Terrain, materials inside are cheap and unsubstantial, leather seats feel like velour cloth not leather as are so limp and sticky. Another WTH????? were they thinking when they moved the remote liftgate button from the overhead console to the drivers door at knee level--totally inaccessible to anyone but the driver. Not helpful when you come out with your arms full, as your fob is in your purse and no one in the car is going to climb over the console and reach down almost to the floor to pop the liftgate, or jump out and run back to open it either. Totally inaccessible. Also could not believe that a $46000 car does not have height adjustments on the seatbelt anchor positions on the posts...but I guess it is only women and children that appreciate those. And how many years will it take to figure out how to get those back row seats to lie flat, like every other car company except probably Chevy and Buick. Those big seatbacks sure eat up the cargo space I want, sticking up in the way. The center console is tiny, the doors have 2 very small cubbies that nothing will fit into. On a positive note the graphics are very nice on the touchscreens although hard to find everything. And it is a relief to have the fuel door on the driver's side instead of the passenger. To sum up, this could be the last time I buy domestic, my friend has a Highlander and it was about same price, same options and much more impressive vehicle in terms of quality, design and the SPACE is unbelievable! Where do they put the wheel wells, because there is no big hump on each side like in the GMs? It even has a little shelf under the dashboard and full bins on the door, but I guess all that plastic is needed to strengthen the door on the Acadia, it apparently isn't strong enough to allow for larger spaces. Another negative is the door mirrors, they are high and wide, in conjunction with the front post and airbags, when I turn I cannot see where I am going--I am totally blind. This is characteristic of most modern cars, the mirrors used to be level with the bottom of the window, now the bottom of the mirror is above the window bottom and blocks the view any direction except straight..(I tried to find a car without this problem but couldn't). And much more engine and road noise in this Acadia than the Toyota. I looked at the Colorado and the Traverse before buying this Acadia and the interior quality was underwhelming in them as well. Already missing my old Terrain, at least it had a V6, which is not an option any more, and it looked like a quality vehicle. So long Detroit! I got some more space but I'll be eating crow around my friends until I can afford to unload this turkey.

Not what I expected
Have owned the AWD Denali for 5 months now and wish I could trade it in. It has absolutely no storage or luggage space. I have to fold back seats down just to go to grocery store. The Acadia died within the 1st month of having it as they said there was a glitch in the software and whole vehicle just lost all power. Good news was I was home and not out somewhere. Still does not run correctly, has loud rattle in front drivers side, terrible handling around curves and on road.

Love my Acadia
This is a great vehicle. Wanted power with V6 and got it. You want to know how to operate wipers etc? Read your manual! Or ask your dealer. I’ve read so many negative comments it makes me think the people have stock in foreign car companies or just dont know a fantastic vehicle when they are in one. Every vehicle has possibly minor problems-they are a mirage of mechanical parts. Fix it, quit grumbling and get over it. Foreign cars are not immune to repair! Im so sick of comparisons to foreign junk. People only recall bad not good. I love my dual sunroof and yes it sits up high enough to see the road ahead better than most vehicles. Shall I say the bigger the truck the smaller the man? Ouch. Awd no prob on my hilly driveway or Michigan pothole roads in the winter! Love love love my heated seats-wonderful. Using your turn signal as you ALWAYS should-mirror alerts you to blind spots (always double check as well). Rear back up camera excellent visual. Push a button rear hatch opens. I have an app on my phone that starts the vehicle. Roof rack, fold back mirrors and a sleek look. I see many happy drivers on the roads! I am one of them! See me smile! Oh and for all who say support troops, support USA and buy American based and built. That means Ford and GM. Sorry ye old jeeps. (We cant control where all the parts are made but figure ALL the vehicles share many of them-thats why many recalls are across many brands). Thanks for allowing me to express my opinion. Safe and happy travels!
