UPDATE ON MY 2021 GENESIS G90 V6 SEDAN
My 2021 Genesis G90 currently has 17,650 miles on the odometer after owning the car for 31 months. Continues to drive and handle as well as it did the first day I brought it home from the dealership. I have not brought the car in for any warranty work nor has it been in need of anything except for oil/filter changes since my last update. I did have to put new tires on front and back at 14,000 miles, but I put Michelin’s on with mileage warranty and expect to double the mileage on the tires. Still the best luxury car I have ever owned or leased - and that includes Mercedes S Class, BMW 7 series, etc. worth every penny I paid for it!

Moving from the A8 to the G90
Drove a fully loaded Audi A8 for the past 3 years and decided to check out the G90. Had it about a month so far and very happy with it. All the toys of the A8 and quieter, smoother ride. Doesn't have the brand recognition yet but seems to have everything else at a lot less money!

Excellent work, Genesis!
Just got a Porto Red 2020 G90 V8 and love it! Have previously owned a 2011 Genesis V8, a 2015 Equus V8, a 2017 G90 V6 Turbo and a 2019 G70 V6 Turbo. They’ve all been fine cars and performed extremely well but, except for the G70, the styling has been conservative to the point of being almost anonymous. NO MORE! The G90 now has a strong, distinctive visual personality that I really like. This is a powerful, good handling, world class luxury car, not a pretend sport sedan. For me, it’s close to the ideal luxury car because it offers near S-Class quality and capability for $46,000 less (similarly equipped) and, in my opinion, looks better. It definitely does not have the prestige of an S-Class but it’s also not pretentious, which is a plus. Excellent work, Genesis!

Finest Luxury Car In the World that Nobody Knows
This is the finest luxury sedan in the world that nobody knows about. This is because Genesis totally botched the product launch of this vehicle and all the marketing dollars go now only to SUV's and not sedans. I ordered my 2019 5.0 Ultimate model in July of 2018, and it took 7 months to arrive. It didn't come in until the end of January 2019 in the color and configuration I wanted. That being said, my insurance company tells me this is the 24th car I've insured in 40 years of driving, but it most assuredly is the best by far. All I can tell you is everything is just........Right. Car and Driver calls it the "zen catacomb" and I would totally agree with this description. The car only has a few nitpick items, and none of these should stop you from buying the car. The turning radius is huge, due to the long wheelbase and All Wheel Drive (AWD), but it's tolerable. The dashboard is non-symmetrical and sort of slopes down and falls off to the right, and that really takes some getting used to if you're expecting symmetrical balance and level dashboards . Like many imports, the damn designers leave no place to hang a front license plate, so the dealer will set you up with this plastic flap tongue thing that hangs from your grille, and looks fairly ugly and out of place. It's also pretty hard to do a quick sound system volume change using volume control on the steering wheel without triggering it to go full mute - it's a switch design issue. Lastly, the car is about an inch and a half too low. I know letting air under the car is a bad thing and affects mileage, but in the real world there are parking garage ramps and driveways with 30 and 40 degree slopes out there and it's hard to navigate these without grinding the chin skirt off. On the upside, there are no options with whatever model you pick, and everything is included. It is a fabulous car. This car is a category killer, and you'll be beating the best that Mercedes and Audi offer in the $120K range, but only paying $76K. Fantastic value.

Great Car but Questionable Corporate backing
First off, this car is technically a marvelous vehicle and a pleasure to drive. I bought it in August 2019 and one of the main selling features was the Concierge/Valet support when the car is serviced. Unfortunately for me, the dealership I bought from discontinued carrying the Genesis brand in Jan 2020 and the nearest dealership is now 85 miles away. The Valet service also went away. According to Genesis headquarters, the Valet service is provided by the dealership (not Genesis) and is limited to a radius of about 50 miles from the dealership. This despite all the claims on Genesis websites that the Valet service is a benefit of purchasing a Genesis. No satisfaction received after numerous calls to their headquarters. Might as well have bought a Ford or Chevy - No Luxury car owner special treatment from these people.

genesis ignores its warranty and service agreement
i bought a G90 new and paid full msrp price. Genesis states it provides required vehicle maintenance for 3 years and provides a loaner. I have found out that genesis does not provide loaners and I have been trying to get the routine service and a serious warranty issue handled since june 16, 2020. It is now 8/2/21 and again today they failed to pick up the car for service. No loaner is to be provided.

The South Korean Mercedes S class sedan
After almost 5 years of ownership, I have just over 30 thousand miles on the odometer, but my view of the car is that it is still a terrific bargain. The car I purchased at the end of February 2020 was/is a brand new 2019 Genesis Ultimate G-90 V-8 all wheel drive sedan. I have previously owned two new Lexus LS Sedans (before buying a new LX 570 in 2015 and another new one in 2021 after trading in the 2015). The G-90 is every bit as good as the Lexus LS sedans. And I didn’t like what Lexus did to the NEW LS sedan, by taking away the V-8 and making the styling so swoopy and ugly. The G-90 Ultimate V-8 AWD is a handsome and competent machine with an excellent ride, outstanding road feel and its fit and finish are impressive. And it is a bargain compared to what Mercedes and Lexus want for a comparable machine, that I think is even BETTER than the Lexus. With a 124 inch wheel base, the ride is limousine smooth with a competent suspension. On our Southern Virginia back roads, my wife complains that I drive it like my Corvette, because it takes the curves and hills and high crowned roads at high speed with aplomb. The eight speed transmission is silky smooth and the 5 liter 420 horsepower fuel injected V-8 makes passing on 2 lane back country roads a snap. The cars being passed must wonder what that blurry Bentley-like car was because it went by so fast, they had no clue as to its make. The interior is incredibly comfortable and I can load up the trunk with many hundreds of pounds of cargo and the engine, tranny and suspension barely notice. This all wheel drive V-8 powered silky smooth machine is a bargain at $50,000 less than a Benz S-class................just like the original Lexus LS sedans in the early and mid 2000’s before Lexus ruined them and upped the price. Snag a {used} low mileage V-8 one because the turbo V-6 engine they are putting in the new Genesis cars is an embarrassment compared to the V-8. The all wheel drive works wonderfully in slippery conditions at low and high speed........these cars are a joy and a steal. Everywhere I go and park, I return to find someone gawking at the car and inevitably asking me what it is and how much I like it. This car is a keeper. Along with the Lexus LX 570, the V-8 G-90 AWD Ultimate is a road car with manners that handles road imperfections with aplomb and carves through sharp hilly curves as if it was a train on railroad tracks. BUY IT. Comfort, excellent handling, smooth and powerful acceleration and amazingly good gas mileage. And the Service has been great at my local dealer. If I didn’t already have a G-90 AWD V-8, I would go looking for a 2022 (the year they stopped making the V-8) today. EVERYTHING I said in the original review still pertains. We have taken this car on many long road trips and it performs almost as well as my Corvette ragtop, yet the ride is so silky smooth and comfortable that my wife with a just replaced knee can ride home from the hospital in it comfortably in the back seat as if she was in a stretched limo. The right rear seat has a 22 position adjustment with heat and cooling. 2022 was the last year for the naturally aspirated 420 horsepower 5 liter V-8, so if you can snag a newer low mileage G-90 Ultimate AWD, hurry up before they are gone. The 2023 and later models are V-6 ONLY and the price tag has gone up by almost $30,000. HURRY UP before the 2022’s with the V-8 are gone ! You will not regret it. UPDATE in November of 2024: still a great touring sedan with impeccable road manners and an athletic suspension with an agile and responsive drivetrain. If you can find a used G-90 Ultimate all wheel drive with the 5.0 420horsepower V-8, BUY IT. That wimpy V-6 with turbos is no match for this car.

Update 8/2021 My second Genesis and perhaps last.
1. Issues with windshield wipers that turn on during the dry, hot summer. 2. Heated and cooled seats stained when used. Dealers keep passing off to the dealership I purchased it from, which is 250 miles away. 3. Scheduling service through Genesis connect doesn't work. The dealer never receives the information about the appointment, so you're waiting for hours to get seen. 4. They lie about the valet service that you get as a genesis owner. The truth is it's the dealer's choice if they offer the service as well as a loner. 5. Service department didn't put my lower bumper screws and underbody soundproofing on correctly, and now I can't even drive over a speed bump anymore without dragging the underbody. I returned to the dealer and informed them of what is going on. They said they replaced it, and when I drove off the lot, I pulled over and saw they did nothing to fix the issue they caused. 6. Calling and trying to voice a complaint through genesis connect is worthless because they are a third party and say they have no way to deliver my concerns to Genesis. 7. Updated March 2021 I noticed that the rear of my genesis G 90 was sagging, and there was no wait in the truck. I went to Genesis of Downtown Birmingham, Alabama, known as Jim Burke Hyundai/Genesis, and spoke with Rusty Pickle. After troubleshooting, they decided to keep my vehicle for about a month to determine what is causing the car to sit so low. They brought in a technician from the plant, and they decided they may need to replace my suspension if they could not get it fixed. After a month, I received a call from Rusty stating my car was ready. However, when I arrived, I pointed out that the vehicle was not fixed. Rusty assured me that it was good when they brought it out, so the next step was to replace the suspension. I had to go to Texas for a quick trip and told him I would bring it back so they can order the parts and correct the issue. Rusty inside the vehicle was still safe to drive back to Texas and was trying to get me to have it done in Texas. I explained that I would only be there for two days, plus they (Jim Burke Genesis/Genesis of Downtown Birmingham knew what was going on with the vehicle since they had it for a month. Rusty said when I return, give them a call so they can schedule the repair. Once I returned, I did precisely that; unfortunately, Rusty did not answer his phone. I left messages with various people at the dealership and have yet to receive a call. I discovered from a salesperson that the dealership doesn’t want to do warranty repairs because they don’t make any money off of it, so they would instead pass it off to someone else. This is what I believe Jim Burke and Genesis of downtown Birmingham Alabama has done to me. 8. Update as of 8/3/2021, after getting a service for my 30,000-mile maintenance at Genesis of Hoover, I drove off the lot, and when I reach speeds at about 65 to 70 mph, a horrible rattling noise was coming from the driver side. I pulled over on the highway because I thought they left the hood open. However, the hood was closed, and I couldn’t locate where the noise was coming from—as I continue to drive, the noise got louder. I would have gone back to the dealer, but they closed on me. I turned up my radio to try and cancel out the noise, but it didn’t work. The sound is coming from the driver's side. I went to the Genesis forum, and many other customers are having the same issues, and no one has gotten a real fix for the problem. I stopped at Genesis of Auburn to have the issue addressed, and a salesman told me that he heard of one car that had the problem. They brought in tech from the Genesis plant but admitted. It took them serval attempts to correct the problem. Genesis knows they have issues with the vehicle but acts like there are no issues. I can respect, and Company gives customers the option to get feedback regarding issues with their car and what they like about it.

Only had it for a week but I love the ride and the abundance of luxury all the way around! Everyone at work has been complimenting it! Not too hard to learn the many features. Can't confidently speak on reliability yet.
Return Engagement
In May of 2017 I purchased a 2017 Genesis G90 5.0 AWD off the showroom floor. Truly loved that car! When I started seeing the 2020 refresh I knew I had to have one. But wanting one and getting one were two different things. First they were sold in Korea and Canada long before I could even order one in the United States. Finally in late January 2020 I was able to order one, Uyuni White with the Beige and Havana Interior. The the COVID 19 pandemic hit and South Korea shut down the Genesis factory. I had actually given up hope of ever getting one but low and behold I finally got my car on May 20th. Even with the COVID scare I went to the dealership and relinquished my 2017 for a brand new 2020 G90. The only thing that got me out of the 2017 G90 5.0 AWD Ultimate was a 2020 G90 5.0 AWD Ultimate. It might be my imagination but the 2020 seems to actually ride better than the 2017. Of course a brand new car will probably always ride better three year old car, everything else being equal. Having said that I loved the 2017 and I love the 2020 for all the same reasons - ultimate luxury, power and coddling interior with lots of features. Really this is a fantastic bargain for the price. Yes $79,000 for a car can hardly be called a bargain unless you compare it to the German top end cars that cost North of $100,000 (usually WAY North!). The 2017 was a fantastic car with no major problems (except for a mass airflow sensor) for 3 years and 32,000 miles and I expect this one will be as trouble free. If it isn't they have a great warranty and free loaner cars along with concierge pick-up and drop-off. I have had a lot of nice cars in my 72 years but the 2017 and now the 2020 rank right up there at the top and I include a couple of German's in my past. These are great cars, at a great price that is not well advertised and most people have no idea what a "Genesis" is. I can't count the number of times I was asked what a Genesis was and who makes it. Even the I got a lot of blank stares with the 2017 and so far I've had two similar experiences with the 2020. Of course with a lot of people staying home the option for questions is much limited. But if the Genesis Division of Hyundai would build stand-alone dealerships and do a little advertising they might actually sell more. In the three years I had the 2017 I only saw two other G90's on the road on in parking lots. So far the only 2020 I've seen is in my garage.

The best automobile on the road for the money
I have owned six Lexus's and a Kia k900 and the Genesis is by far superior for the money and tops the others in all respects. I have had it about five years and only one problem... brakes locking.l. 3/15/22: I have had my G90 for three years and have had zero problems. It is one of the best cars I've owned which is about twenty five. I've owned six Lexus vehicles and I find this Genesis to be overall better than a Lexus. A comparable Lexus vehicle would cost about $25,000 more. If you have wondered about buying a Genesis I would recommend that you go ahead and do so. I hope you will not be disappointed.

Fabulous to drive
When I read negative reviews of the then forthcoming Lexus 500 LS I decided that instead of getting another LS (which would have been my fourth) I would consider replacing my 460 LS with the G90. It was the beginning of Covid and for my test drive I could only find a 2019 version. Nevertheless, it blew me away. I wasn't expecting the heads up display which is what first caught my attention, and then the self driving aspects of the car were intuitive and easy the change. And the ride was smooth and fast, better than my 2017 LS. So I purchased the 2020 AWD version. I have now driven the car for a year. I still marvel at how much I enjoy it. On my drives from Texas to Colorado, about 11 hours, it is great to be able to just put a hand on the wheel and have the car largely drive itself. The Lexicon sound system is better than the Mark Levinson systems in the Lexus. The car is faster and smoother than the Lexus. Yes, the dealership experience is not as good but the car is soooo enjoyable. And so reasonably priced. This is the best car I have ever owned. Love it. updated 4/20. The car still drives great. But the electronic add-ins leave something to be desired. My dealer tells me I can no longer get weather forecasts because I do not subscribe to Sirius. Genesis says that is not the case at all. Also, except when you are in a large city, the weather, gasoline price, and other data are unavailable. Genesis should work out their problems getting this information to the driver. Other brands can do it. 4/23 Still a great car. Has been reliable. Only complaint is still the lack of information in rural area

What a DEAL
I have owned and driven a variety of luxury vehicles from Lincoln, Cadillac, and Audi, but this one is the best deal ever! This is perhaps not the best execution of a luxury auto, as I really loved my Audi's, which had better execution of handling/ride/fuel economy and technology, but the cost at which to achieve that better vehicle does not justify the price. Genesis has done a great job creating a seriously comfortable car with lots of goodies to wow you. Tack on that Genesis is having a tough time moving these cars as many people are choosing SUV's, plus a lack of brand prestige that comes with a name like Lexus, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Inifinity, Acura, Lincoln, Jaguar or Cadillac among mainstream luxury. But, those difficulties and an updated upcoming 2020 model, allowed me to make an awesome deal at the end of the year because of incentives and get one for over $10K below list. What was already a great deal, became an awesome deal. At this price, I can sacrifice not having a perfect luxury and I don't need to impress anyone with a spiffy badge on the car. This is for me! 1 year update. This car is amazing, love the comfort. It may not have the badge recognition, but it is an extremely comfortable car. It does not have the performance of the German automobiles and the fuel economy is not up to par with the competition. I am getting an average of 23-24 mpg highway on ethanol blends, and 25-26 mpg on no ethanol premium. I can sacrifice some fuel economy for what I paid. The one big knock is the the sound system...occasionally on a long trip the sound will shut off. The radio shows it is on, but there is not a sound coming from the system. After this has happened a couple of times, I know the solution is to stop the car, turn it off, walk away to get the key fob out of range of the car and come back, start it up and go again. Very odd. I looked on the Genesis owners blog and have seen many with similar experiences and no apparent solutions from Genesis as this is a non-replicable problem. Now, after 3 years and 24,000 miles, I am still quite pleased with the G90. The only other issue is an occasional problem with the trunk release button on the dash not activating the trunk decklid. When the button is pushed, it will unlatch the trunk, but not fully open the trunk. For those who are not familiar, the trunk decklid is motorized and opens and closes with a touch of a button or key fob. Other than that, this car has been a dream. On long road trips, I can drive for 10 hours or longer and not really feel uncomfortable or tired, unlike driving other vehicles in my possession. We have taken this car on 1000+ mile trips at least 4 times and love the comfort. The one issue is that the car does sit a bit low, especially when fully loaded and it can bottom out when going over some obstacles like speed bumps in parking lots. Some of the speed bumps encountered are a bit high and if one goes over a higher one at bit too quickly, the soft suspension and low ride height, will have the car impact the speed bump. After 3 years of ownership, I can say I really enjoy this car. The new models certainly have a bit more eye appeal and more refined as far as features, but for value, this was still an awesome purchase. The new models are now list for $20K more than when I bought 3 years ago, but much of that can be attributed to inflation and increased brand recognition since Genesis has successfully launched Motor Trend winners like the G70, GV70, and this year the G90. Genesis' parent Hyundai is now working with the dealerships to require a separate facility for Genesis and Hyundai sales and service. There will be fewer Genesis dealers as many have decided not to incur the expense of building a new facility for Genesis. In my opinion, the lack of the separate facilities for the Genesis brand has hurt sales, as upscale buyers have not wanted feel like they were in a "budget" facility, that lacked upscale amenities available at other luxury dealerships. That should be changed over the next couple of years.

Start acting like a luxury car brand
The car itself is well built and very nice. The problem is the dealers. Genesis National needs to demand higher standards from their dealers. Too many Genesis dealers act like slick Eddies used car lot and pool hall emporium. When you pay that kind of money one expects first class service after the sale. Warning! A Genesis Certified used car means nothing. A carfax means nothing if the damage was not reported. If dealers can’t meet standards to compete with BMW, MB, Audi, then pull their franchise. If Genesis can’t provide timely and proper service then they will always be an also ran car company. If you take the cheese off the pizza, nobody will buy your product no matter how cheap the price is. Genesis, clean up your act and get your act together.

Genesis is all class
I have the 2020 Genesis G90 that I have fallen in love with. I am a car guy and have owned North of 25 cars so far... This includes a Mercedes 600 sedan, multiple other Mercedes from the 500 to the 350. I have had 3 Lexus ~ 2 LX 470 and 1 ~ 450. Then a slew of other fun muscle and luxury cars. I am going to put the Genesis at the top if not #1 in itself. I went with the V6 twin turbo for I am a family man and did not want my kids having all my controls in the backseat! :) The quickness is still there when needed and 20 mpg is nice at almost 500 miles per tank full. The quietness inside is impeccable and the sound system is delightful. The 2020 I think is a great year for it is packed with Nappa leather everywhere and real wood throughout. This ride is luxurious as they come in the luxury category. I have had compliments from young men on my sporty rims too. I also went with the AWD living here in Colorado. I feel blessed and plan on running with this car to 100,000 miles to see the quality last. Truly, I give 5 stars throughout this vehicle.

2022 Genesis G90 5.0 Junk - Terrible customer expe
I just wanted to share my Genesis experience. I loved this vehicle for 11 months. Then the trouble started. After owning several Mercedes and a couple of BMWs I wanted to buy a full size luxury sedan. Besides price what really attracted me was the concierge service they offered. I live 50 minutes from the nearest dealership and confirmed with everyone at the dealership I was covered for this ( 3 years or 36k miles). My first two PMs I had to call 3 times and had to talk to 3 different people all who told me I was not covered. After finally getting an appointment they did not show up. The missed the second appointment and finally showed for the third. Believe it or not this also happened on the second PM appointment. It took 3 more appointments. Each time it took 3 45 minute phone calls to reschedule another. I probably had 10 hours on the phone arranging PMs. A month after my second PM the vehicle shut down while I was pulling of the interstate. It had been shaking after decelerating from higher speeds for several weeks. It had to be towed back to the dealer. It took them a week to even look at my car. The service manager told me "they were busy". First they blamed my gas and charged me 600$ to remove the gas. Then two weeks to get parts. Then two more weeks to get more parts. Fuel injectors and sensors were replaced. The car has never run the same since. For the last 6 months it still shakes when decelerating and service can not find the cause or reproduce the issue. Apply car play shuts down after 20 minutes, dashboard settings and units change with out touching it, the screen goes blank. I can not get anything done about it. In June a crack formed in the center of the windshield. Safelight looked at it and said it was defective. There was no sign of impact. The windshield could not be found. My customer service rep found an OEM one for me and arrange the dealer to replace. She said it would be paid for by Genesis. After it was changed and I assume the old windshield destroyed they gave me the bill for 2900$. 3 months later the windshield cracked again. In 40 years of driving I have never had a cracked windshield. There probably a few other things I am forgetting. Customer service for a vehicle that costs 100k is awful and opening a case on their customer support line is useless. They have no way of communicating except through the Genesis portal. I have asked to talk to a supervisor at least a dozen times, NOTHING!

Great car with a horrible ride
The ride at speeds above 35 mph was bumpy. The steeling wheel was shaking as well as the front seats. Took the car back to the dealer and returned it. Unfortunately for him he let out 5 lbs of air from the tires and it rode considerably better. The car manual called for about 35-36 lbs. of air and he lowered it to 32 lb. and then tried to convince me that 32 was proper and not to pay attention to the manufacturers instructions!!!

Great luxury car at a reasonable price
Just leaded the G90 Ultimate AWD. Drove the Equus before, and I feel the difference, more refined (if this could even be possible), more comfortable seats and more updated electronics. Drive is superior to anything I have driven before, and the price is great. Could not say enough nice things about it. If you are in the market for a luxury large sedan and you are looking at those $100K + cars, you have to test drive the Genesis G90, you will be surprised all the way around!

Best car I have ever owned! 38K miles with no issues of any kind what so ever! Sure it is Hyundai service department but they have been great to me, and I have no complaints! I have to drive on the mountain windy roads where I live and this is a perfect car for everyone and also love it on the highway! Great gas mileage, amazing comfort, great power, great ride, and ohh sooo quiet! Had it now for three years and love everything about it and every time I get in it!

Simply, one of the best!
I like all the goodies and comfort this V-8 vehicle has to offer. The 21 gallon fuel tank gets about 500 miles of highway driving.

Auto steering/lane control not safe
The auto steering and safety lane controls need to be looked at. I leased the car for its safety features and they aren’t working properly.

Great car!!! All the bells and whistles!!!
I love this car. It’s roomy and elegant. With the turbo engine the pickup is great. I love the heads up display. This car has features that I haven’t mastered yet!!!

Genesis G90 Ultimate
Beyond expectations. Driven 40k miles since ownership without any issues.Quality that beat Lexus hand down. Superior Technology - I can't see spending $40k more on an S550. It is hard to accept that the Mercedes quality difference (if there is any) can be worth that much.

A CAR FOR GROWNUPS
This is a car for adults. After the past three decades driving practical cars that could haul vast amounts of children and home repair supplies, I finally bought my first adult car. When faced with the decision between the G80 and the G90, the salesman told me that the G80 is for the driver, and the G90 is for the passengers. Since I am providing transportation for my wife, her mother, my mother and assorted local octogenarians, I opted for the G90 with the big V8 engine. I am glad I did. Everyone that gets into the car remarks about the elegance of the interior, and the superior quality of the ride - as well as the quietness of the interior.

Handling
It's a great value and comfortable. I just installed Bridgestones and the car handles sportier than with the Michelins.
