Ford Should Have Been Proud!!!

I love my 94 T-Bird (v8 interceptor).I've had a 92 v6 T-Bird (indestructable!) and currently my wife's 97 v6 Bird. The 94 has the special tranny and torque converter...shifts into 2nd at between 55-60 M.P.H, and chirps the tires. It is strong, quiet(until you mash it :) ), and rock solid. My other birds have been very gutsy and very dependable. The 92 had 150,000 miles without EVER being in the shop! Ford should be ashamed of themselves for axing this car...I guess they want the reputation of Fix Or Repair Daily because all they sell now are junky little Focuses and great big soccer mom land yachts!

It handles excellent, great transmission, can't even feel it changing gears. Bought it with 37k miles and now has 75k but when the trouble started it has yet to stop. The radiator, battery, alternator, hoses (normal) wear, this got me thru another year, but now power steering major leak, driver door handle bad, etc...I think i got my cash out of it, but thought it should have much more life in it. I'm going with a Toyota or Honda till the end of time. No more Fords for me.

I got my bird with only 7,000 miles on it in '96. V-8. Perform routine maintenance and have had no major problems. If you don't perform routine maintenance then any car, foreign or domestic will have problems. If you take care of this car it will go the miles. I have over 100,000 miles on mine. I cannot find another car that comes close to my bird in comfort or styling (and I haved looked, cause I love that new car smell). I won't be letting it go anytime soon. I am actually saving to get it painted and getting new rims.

Purchased used in 4/97 with 28325 miles; mileage now: 171700. I'm very pleased with how the car has held up. The car is driven a lot. It's very comfortable, and enjoyable to drive. This T-bird routinely gets 23mpg+. Compared to the smaller engines (< 2.5L) that get 26-30mpg, this 'Bird (V- 8/4.6L) sips gas; it's a better value than the smaller-engine vehicles. I've towed a 6x12 U-Haul trailer through the Rockies: the engine never ran hot & fuel economy didn't drop much (19-20mpg w/ full car and trailer). Cons: the doors are heavy & go out of alignment periodically. The Premium Sound CD system is installed, but it lacks the 'punch' an aftermarket CD player would have.
