Left me Stranded again
My ranger has 36500 miles on it and the air-flow sensor broke on it leaving me stranded before work. The warranty ran out at 36000 so I had to pay for everything. (towing, engine work). At 35000 miles the transmission had to be rebuilt. Luckily the dealership took care of that. I just don't trust it anymore. I'm trading it in.
Yeah it's dated and surpassed, but...
Updated: At 130K Pass side wheel bearing needed a re-pack. Alternator swapped and did alot of other preventative maintenance, so it's good for anther few years (still on the original clutch). Everything else is running strong. I STILL get notes left on my truck from people who want to buy it. My first was a 2000 2.5L manual, ran it 210K before gifting to one of my sons. He did a rebuild and found the block did not need a re-bore ! Now on to my 2006. 2.3L are very efficient and advanced, power band starts higher than the 2.5. Rides a little taller too. Very smooth, better transmission than the 2000. These older Rangers are great family pickups: light hauler, perfect for suburban use and will get the job done on the farm too. Very reliable, flick that key only once and it fires right up. What more can you ask of a pickup?

Very reliable trucks
I love these little trucks, I have been using them for my smal pest control company for years. They easily go well past 250,000 miles with oil and transmission fluid changes, our oldest a 2006 ranger super cab with the 3.0L V6 has 550,000 miles and is still running strong!

Never again
Bought my truck used 1 year ago with 12,000 miles on it. Just got back from my 5th visit to the dealer to have it repaired. Once for 4X4 transfer switch breaking, 3 times for transmission leak, and once for blown shock (the truck hauls air and has never pulled a trailer) and a clogged fuel filter. All with less than 24,000 miles. Oh, I have to go back next week to have the shock installed. The dealer had to order it. What's sad is that I really like the style and size of the truck. It's perfect for my needs, but I'm not going to have it spend as much time in my garage as it does as the dealers.
Nice......
Great truck...gas mileage could be better for the 4cyl auto trans. Upgrade the tires to 235/70-15 to give it a little more height. Second ranger I've owned an think their great trucks Still own the truck since the last review. Still believe it's the best truck I've ever owned....NEW UPDATE...Now at 180,973 miles with very little mantiance truck just keeps going and going. So sad they stopped making them other wise I'd buy a new one.
