Lots Of Bang For The Buck

This is my 3rd Stang, having previously owned an 86GT Hatch and an 86LX Cnvt. Bought the 99 with 11,000 miles in 2001. Currently has 145,000. This is a great car. Have had almost no mechanical problems. Great style and performance. Great exhaust sounds. Mach 460 radio/CD is great too. Convertible top works well. Tends to eat brakes. Headlight covers do fog over. Don't hit a bump in the middle of a turn or you'll find yourself in the next lane.

My PNY RYD is a blast to drive

I bought my 1999 pony GT convertible in oct 2018. It had 28K on it then, it has 34K now. It truly is the car for a nice day and you just want to drive topless. I had it to Car Week in Ocean city last May and it got all kinds of compliments from the car crowd there. Loved tooling up and down the boulevard with all the other show cars. Its fairly fast, stylish, dependable, fun and more comfortable for us old people to get in than my friends Corvette. The only thing wrong with it is I had to replace the fuel pump last year. It should last me till I can't drive any longer. I see myself putting in a Kenne Bell SC some time in the future.

I bought my Mustang GT back in May of 01 and had the car till Feb of 08. This car was very well taken care of and I drove the car pretty crazy. The only reason I kept it running so well is because my uncle is a mechanic so most of the problem were fixed by him. I pumped regular gas in it but always used 10-30 oil. When it got to 75,000 miles I started using 10-30 high mileage mobil oil fully synthetic. That was the best oil I used. My car never leaked any oil because I always replaced any gaskets or seals that needed replacing. Changed all the normal wear & tear stuff. Always kept the car original except for the flowmasters. When I ran a smog check it had better results than a brand new Mustang

I like the way the car looks-inside and out. I like the way feels inside, and the way that it handles. The power driver's seat has so many adjustments that if my wife drives the car, it takes quite a while to get the seat readjusted properly. It has a nice suspension, where you don't feel every seam in the pavement-on local roads, or on the highway.PlentyOfPower. I bought the car with 39,000 miles on it. The power top works great. It would be nice if the cover for the top fit better. If you snap it in place, it pops back out. I scrapped the cheap material seat covers for new leather ones. Big improvement.

I bought this car in January 2001 and for the most part its been a great car. Been through several accidents, and still in one piece, never an injury! ;) Had to have the brakes replaced and the engine serviced once, but that's really it. Runs well, accelerates really nicely, a fun car to drive (especially in electric green!) I just wanted to reply to someone saying that it ran well in rain and snow- it DOESN'T run in rain or snow! very very touchy. spins out a LOT. I'm trading it in this year for something with AWD. For what I used it for though, it was a great car.

I purchased this car in 2001 without any expectations. I just liked the way it looked and the appreciated the low level of electronic tech. After driving it for several years and seeing how reliable and almost maintainance free it is, I then started thinking of improving the suspensions performance level, since the engine for most purposes is quite powerful.Over time I swapped out all the stock suspension parts, since they already had 200000+ miles on them, and replaced them with Steeda brand parts, the highest level they had to offer. It handles and corners amazingly, giving an entire new life to an older car, and can out corner and out perform some quite expensive newer vehicles, it only just looks older. The car now has 394000 miles on it (automatic) and still runs like new. I dont beat it. These cars are truly made to last and I have seen nothing bad about them. Over time I have changed the air intake, intake manifold, plenum ,underdrive pullies , 3.73 rear end ratio, etc and it screams. Review update 10-19-20. 404,505 miles on odometer. Still runs like new.Replaced leather upholstery last year. Worth the investment. Review update4-20-22. 415,000 miles still runs great, no changes.

Good Car

I bought this Mustang in Feb. of 2004 with only 52,000 miles on it. It already had the 60,000 miles work done on it. Since then I've driven it to about 88,000 miles. It performs great - good acceleration and decent cornering (though I rarely push either). The top very rarely leaks, only when I've driven in BIG storms. It's only happened twice. This is a big improvement over my last convertible, a 92 Mustang. The only problems I've had are that the cruise control button fell off one day last year (it's still usable) and the front brakes have needed A LOT of work ($1300). They always cover the front rims with brake dust as well. Overall I'm very happy with the car.

I bought this car for 17000 from a blonde girl who owned for only 9 months, and only 11000 miles. The reason im saying this is because she bought a MB CLK coupe with 45000 miles for 30000! Go figure! I love this silver convertible mustang since the very first day. The car looks great. I added 20" black wheels and lowered 2". People on the street always stare. I have owned this car since Dec 2000. The only thing that I have change on this car is the oil and brakes once. Oh I also upgraded the headlights to all clear, and smoke the tailights. The car has 105k miles, and I will keep it for many more years. The car has been super reliable.

Great overall car. You get a great looking car, tire smoking power, all the options plus more, and a convertible for a great price. Wish they changed the interior a bit more (from the previous 94-98 Stangs) to give it that "new" feeling but all the controls are easy to use and access so it's not too big of a deal. The new exterior took a bit of getting used to when they first came out but I love it now. You definetly get a lot of looks and nice comments. Also handles good and fuel economy is what you would expect from a V8 sports car.

Great car if you can afford the insurance and don't have children. Not a lot of room to haul anything, so don't plan any trips with more than two lightly packing adults.

When buying a used car, or any car, some people get good ones some get bad. I know several people who are happy with their mustang (v6) and don't have any problems. I however had problems. The exhaust manifolds went bad twice, but were covered under warranty. After the warranty expired, at about 45,000 miles the transmission started slipping when you tried to accelerate hard, and the valves started to make noise. The dealership told me that the valve problem is common with the V6. It cost around $500 to fix. The top did make some noise around 48,000 miles but it was an easy fix.

1999 Mustang GT Conv.

Over the years, I have owned the following Mustangs: 1966 289-2 bbl conv., 1969 351W-4bbl Mach I, and 1973 351C-2bbl conv. Of all the Mustangs, the 1999 GT conv. is the best. A splenid combination of historical Mustang styling and modern technology, this automobile is truly a delight to own and drive. Additionally, dealer service and warranty work is absolutely flawless. Everyone should own one of these.

I got my GT as a graduation present and I love it. It is by far the best car that can be purchased for the money. The steering and braking are superb, looks unique and stylish, and is very user friendly as a daily driver. I put a lot of miles on m GT because I commute a lot and so far it has been very reliable.

Overall this is a great car, but I would recomend having another car for the winter. The car has an extremely responsive throttle, making the car very quick. There are many affordable aftermarket upgrades for this car. My catalytic converters became stopped up. And I've heard other other mustangs having the same problem. Othe than that I havent had anyproblems with the car. If you buy a sports car that has a v8 engine you shouldnt expect to get great gas mileage. I got about 14 miles in the city and 18 on the highway(220), but I was accelerating a lot so if you dry the car easier you could probally get about 250 miles on a full tank.

Best Car for A College Student

This car was my party vehicle throughout my college years. I have 145,000 miles on it and all I had to do was change the oil. My convertible top hydraulics began to leak at 100,000 and that is all I had to fix. Of course since I take the top down and put it back up a million times when I went out it had to break eventually! :) I plan on driving this bad boy until 200,000 miles and keeping it as my fun vehicle.

It's a blast to drive and a real head turner espically with the top down. Big down side to me, no available "Roll Bar" offered and it's a royal pain in the ___to put the tops "Boot Cover" on. The V6 could use some more HP but the gas mileage is good and the insurance rates are lower than witha V8. Just gets better with age. Recaro seats in front with be a nice touch and offer bette

I bought this car while in College at 20,000 miles. Served me great with no mechanical or driving problems except one small pressure cable that helps to lift the roof up broke ( figures if I take the top up and down like every day!)That was the only thing to fix. My Car has 120,000 miles on it right now and runs like the same day I bought it!!!! I would recommend this car to anyone who loves to experience a convertible and has a joy for driving.

I've owned my 1999 convertible Mustang for 5 years with only 1 problem. I had a problem shortly after I bought it with one of the convertible top hydraulics going out. The car was used, with 17,000 miles on it, before I got it and apparently someone tried taking the top down with it still latched into the windshield and this caused the failure. Other than that I have had no mechanical problems with this car and it is used as a daily driver. The Mustang is a little bumpy because of the sports suspension and height from the ground but that's what you come to expect in a performance RWD car. Don't expect to be riding like a Caddy in this bad boy, but you'll ride in style!

Excellent value for the money. Great straight-line performance but handling is fairly poor. Car sits too high and handling suffers from lack of independent suspension during hard driving. Surprisingly good reliability; owned one for over 3.5- years and hexperienced only one problem (convertible top motor died, but replaced under warranty).

I recently bought my 99 Mustang GT Convertible&have yet to be dissappointed. It's beautiful,&the interior is roomy enough for 2 up front, however,I quickly abandoned the possibility of fitting 2 comfortably in the back.It can be done, but only by scooting the front seats up considerably, which could be bearable for short trips, but not on long ones.Trunk space also leaves a bit to be desired. The stereo system's great for factory, the exterior's hot,&outside noise is pretty minimal considering it is a convertible.I'm impressed! My beauty is definitly a head-turner,&I look forward to thousands more miles with him!
