Love it so far
I really thought I needed an SUV, but this car won me over. I have owned an older Fusion in the past that was ok. It's roomy yet gets great gas mileage. I average 32mpg highway and coming from larger vehicles that is awesome to me.
Great Car
When writing a review you cannot select the 1.5 or 1.6 engines. Ive got the 1.6 ecoboost that comes with a manual transmission. I really like it, I rented the 2.0L ecoboost a couple of times and really like that engine too, I really wanted the manual transmission and its great. Very nice ride stays on the road and handles well. I got the sport appearance package and the MyFord Touch with SYNC. I had that before and I really like it. I have seen a couple of glitches with it but the PROs outweigh the cons. You can control almost anything with your voice, and once you learn all of the commands and features it works really well. The steering wheel buttons were designed with me in mind. they are perfect. I recently rented a 2015 escape and they messed them up, i hated those compared to my fusion. the volume up down, track forward back, sync command and cruise control are all right where they should be. I am 6'4" tall too and I fit better in the fusion than in the escape. the fusion has plenty of room. The odometer features where you can change how you see the info is awesome too. really cool options of viewing the tachtometer and live fuel economy as you drive. Plenty of leg room in the back. all 4 windows are one press and they fully open or close. keyless open all windows when its really hot you just hold the unlock feature after 5 seconds all the windows open. they just thought of all of these little things and I really appreciate them. Some reviews complain about the SYNC but i really like it, i dont use the touch part of it too often and the only glitches ive had was the temperature setting, neither the touchscreen nor the button below work sometimes. one time it seemed the button got stuck and bumped me down to min temp. Once i stopped and killed the engine and started it up again the glitch went away.

Never fail to impress
I have driven Fusion's before and they never fail to impress me. I would choose this vehicle over several in the model comparision. Althought I find the new seat design an issue. I just could not get comfortable in the car for the first several miles. Luckily this was not a road trip vehicle for me.
Almost the perfect car
Bought from a Chrysler dealer in 2016 with 64k miles on the odometer. Recently clicked past the 100k mark (end of 2021). The only thing that has become dodgy is the rear camera, which I don't see the point of anyway -- sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Still looks and feels like a new car. Replaced tires and battery at some point. The new tires have better traction and a smoother ride. Replaced the tranny fluid and spark plugs recently. The car handles well, although it's tuned to understeer near its limits like most appliance cars, despite the lightness of the front end made possible by the little 2l engine. The handling nannies don't interfere with wild driving; they only kick in when something ridiculous is being asked of the car. Steering feedback is light, but present -- it's easy to feel impending traction loss. It's super comfortable, no matter how long you may be stuck behind the wheel. Acceleration is brisk. Gas mileage is mediocre at around 22 mpg with maybe 30% highway driving, but hey, 240 hp, so what did I expect? A match to the EPA claims? Not gonna happen on this car. I do wish I could replace the shift table in the tranny firmware, though, to make the shifts occur at lower rpm -- this would probably increase the mpg, because boost or no boost, high rpm is the enemy of good fuel economy. At moderate acceleration, it shifts kind of hard from 2nd to 3rd, a well known issue, and Ford claims there is no firmware update to fix it, so if you're worried about damage, you can release the gas pedal for a half second when the shift is about to happen. I guess whoever wrote the firmware forgot to cut fuel and add delay during that particular shift, and there's no one maintaining the code. Anyway, I love the car and expect it to stay healthy for another 100k miles. Update: Early 2025, 127k miles. Added a tow hitch at some point. Plenty of power and braking for towing. One coil-pack failed a couple of years ago, so I changed all four, which is an easy and inexpensive DIY operation. (Diagnosis requires an OBD II code reader, which is cheap and easy to use, and the OBD connector is easy to access.) No change in the car's health or drivability. No squeaks or rattles. No rust. No decrease in power or fuel economy. Not burning oil. Also has had none of the supposedly common engine problems. Seems destined to be a nice car until at least 200k miles, namely another ten years.

Great Car - Best Handling & Comfortable Vehicle
This is the best handling vehicle I've ever had - comfortable, quiet, reliable, and gets good mileage. SE model with the 1.5l Ecoboost (the checkoff note below did not give this engine choice). I've just taken it in for the Ford recommended services since purchase. Only expenses I've had in over 135k miles have been tires (4th set), batteries (just got #3), 1 set of rear brake pads (front pads are still good - yeah, I'm surprised, too) and the recommended services over the years, all at the dealer. So impressed with it, I bought a new 2020, same model & equipment, while I could still get one.

2014 Fusion Titanium - perfect until 82,500 miles
My engine light came on. Code is PP0456 - evap leak. Dealer found that gromet/seal on tank is failing. This part is not serviceable, so the entire fuel tank needed to be replaced. After dealer discount, the cost was $2242.24. I have owned many Ford vehicles since 1978 and never experienced such an expense. In my opinion, this is a design issue since the rubber seal is not serviceable. This experience is causing me to lose faith in the Ford brand.

2.5L I-4 91,000 Miles, still loving my ride
Wife did not like seats in the '14 Focus SE, so we bought the basic Fusion S. Very quiet, smooth ride, good gas mileage. Getting 32.1 MPG overall. Did get 40.2 MPG in the first year a couple times, not since. Highway MPG is 34-35 summer, 31-33 winter. Like the roominess and comfort very much, a huge step up from my 2006 Focus ZX4-SES, 2.0L automatic. And, the fuel economy is about 3-5 MPG better! Have had a few hard shifts, and the battery had to be replaced early on (under warranty). SYNC system a bit quirky, have had to disconnect battery to reset it at least three times. Previously was a GM man, till Obama Motors took them out of the running. Ford sure has made a great car here (same car as Europe's "Mondeo"). Over 6 years so far, 91k miles, still very happy. Running on Mobil 1 full synthetic since first oil change. Never need to add oil between changes, and oil stays full level. Rear brakes shot (fully worn pads, corroded rotors) at 43,000 miles. Pretty disappointing! Rear brakes should have lasted at least 70K with my type of driving. Front brakes are still original and wearing normally. I do my own work, so I the brake work was cheap (Rock Auto). No issues since then.

Would not buy again
The transmission never shifted into Drive properly. There was a delay in shifting then the transmission would slam into Drive. Mechanics said it needed a PCM software update. The PCM and the TCM software was updated and it didnt change anything. This started occurring within one month of vehicle purchase (New). This is a known problem and will eventually lead to a Valve Body Replacement or full transmission rebuild which would be very expensive. There was constant problems with the software. The GPS was often off by several hundred feet. It would show you driving down the road except the GPS line of travel would be off to the left of the actual line of travel. The car often refused to start even with a full battery, constantly acting like it was in remote start mode where the engine is running but the power is off. Except the engine and power would both be off but the car "brain" would think differently. Because many of the systems require power to b in sleep mode, many times the battery would be dead after just a couple of hours sitting. Diagnosing a parasitic drain showed the drain was normal, but the battery that came stock with the car was not enough to stay charged with the parasitic draw that is in fact normal. Battery replacement was mandatory for a new car and should not have been. But it did fix the problem. There are many videos online with people with the same problem with the Fusion and Focus. Sitting still the glass in the sunroof cracked. The temperature was in the 70's and the car was not moving with no trees, other cars or anything else around. It simply cracked. The glass in these roofs is made to shatter. Others have complained about the same problem. This occured within about two months of purchasing the vehicle. As I was told, "It isn't Fords problem". Well it is now since we went back to Kia. After buying three new trucks and three new cars in five years we thought we would give Ford a try since we did like the Fusion Titanium when we test drove. However, that experience with Ford, attitudes in service whenever we brought it in for service and the complete 180 from our experience with Kia had us completely ignore Ford when we were looking for a new car. Bottom line. Thirty seven years of car buying and ovr 20 new cars and 10 new trucks that was our first Ford and it will be our last Ford.

Engine Problems
We purchased brand new. I had this car for two years when a piston ring snapped and and engine had to be replaced. It took +/- six weeks and to get the car back and after driving for two weeks all of the sudden the car overheated and shut off. Luckily this happened near my home and I was literally a day away from leaving on a long road trip. I had the car towed to nearest Ford dealer. After sitting in their shop for almost a month they informed me that the dealership who did the prior work did not re-install turbo correctly and that this was not covered under Ford's warranty. They tried to have me pay them $1,500 for their "research" work. Long story short I had the other dealership fight it out with them and my car towed back to original repair dealer. Apparently when they put the engine back together they failed to properly torque the turbo bolts and this caused the refrigerant to leak ruining the turbo. It took almost two months to get my car back, totaling 3 1/2 months in the shop. I got Ford to give me an extended warranty because of all of this. Also after all of the repair work was done I started hearing "sloshing" noise coming from behind the dashboard. Took it back in and something to do with air in the coolant system, apparently this happens with this car? Decided to trade the car in before the warranty ran out. Great looking car, I loved the tech package but unfortunately a bad Ford experience for us.

Rented an SE 2.0 (not Titanium)
The 2014 Fusion was a fabulous surprise (I'm a 2010 Fusion SE owner). The ragged 3.0 V6 and balky six speed automatic on my old car made me wonder how good the Fusion new drivetrain could be, but words can hardly begin...granted I did get the top of the line engine choice, but the automatic was absolutely superb as well. The next great surprise was the ride. My old Fusion rides like a buckboard in comparison...all the other midsize car manufacturers should stop what they're doing and just copy the Fusion's setup. Handling seemed sharp even with the well-damped ride...it really is outstanding.
Owner's Manual
I purchased the S model Fusion. My complaint has nothing to do with the car itself. It's the owners manual. Over half the manual is dedicated to SYNK. In order to even use SYNK you have to purchase a plan separately which I do not need. Therefore, for me, the manual is of little use. I had to go to a separate web page to learn how to use what does come with my particular car. Ford should have included more detail on what functions are standard (without having to buy other stuff for it to work) for the display and how they work with buttons on the steering wheel. On one Edmonds page it says I have tire pressure notification. Well, I don't see that in the manual so I don't know.
Excited for our New Ford Fusion 2014
We are very excited about our purchase of the 2014 Ford Fusion. I had thought that our next vehicle would be a compact SUV, but seeing the Fusion out on the road and then at the dealership I knew that this was going to be our next car. Wonderful price for what you are getting!
DO NOT BUY THIS CAR
Seriously, don't buy this car. While it may seem like an affordable/dependable American Made car, it is in fact neither. I bought my Fusion with some 30,000 miles for around $13K as my previous car broke down unexpectedly in a different city from which I lived which caused me to rush the purchase of this vehicle. In the 9 months that I have owned this vehicle I have had two single vehicle accidents involving the low front end of the vehicle. The car is so low to the ground any speed bump, odd curb, or slightly uneven road will cause scrapping and (as stated before) two times had the front in smashed in by a slightly uneven road. One of these accidents was major ($1,500 repair paid for on the same day as my first car payment) and another minor tearing of the under lining by pulling up a little to close to the end of a parking spot. I promise this will happen to you. Then we get to the SYNC system used for hands free driving, forget it, it might seem like it works durning the test drive but never again. I can no longer play music through the blue tooth "no bluetooth device found" even though it will connect through my phone when receiving calls. Also don't bother trying to charge your phone as the USB will not work after 3 months and during those three months don't bother charging your phone and using bluetooth. It will constantly try and switch back and forth between the two methods of pairing. Great job to whatever high school intro to coding class that put that together. All in all there is a very good reason why Ford is no longer making cars and is switching to trucks only. Their cars are awful, cheap, and now probably much more expensive to repair. I bought American, and now I understand why Detroit is a crater, their cars suck. Although it pains me to say this buy Japanese. Toyota is an amazing company. Please take it from me and do not buy a Ford vehicle

super reliable and zippy
I've got the 2014 econoboost / turbo and it's been super reliable. I've only changed oil and tires (once) with 143k. No issues at all. Zippy with the turbo, sporty looking and fun to drive. If you like a super plush ride, this is not your car. If you like a 'sportier' ride, this is it. Also i found out that my engine has a timing belt so had to change that. Most Fusions do not have a timing belt, but the 1.6L with turbo does. Great car though.

2014 Ford Fusion
I have a 2014 Ford Fusion and purchased brand new. About two years of owning the car I started noticing some difficulties with the radio. The volume will shoot up to MAX volume out of no where and the only way I could get it to turn down was if I shut the radio off completely, give it a few minutes then turn it back on. The Bluetooth and usb connection does not always work. The navigation and back up camera stopped working completely. I have made updates but nothing has worked to get it going again. The dealership told me I would have to pay to get it repaired. For a few months now I’ve noticed the car will have trouble picking up acceleration from stop to go. The car will feel like it is jerking. This also happens when I brake or come to a stop. The dealership says the car is fine but I know it’s not. I will be taking it for a second opinion. I had 2 recalls for the door latches which cause the doors to open while driving or not. The bolts in the steering wheel also had to be repaired because the steering wheel could fall off!!! How lovely! That is just unexceptable!!! The last complaint I have is the tires. I also have to replace all 4 tires at once which is pricey. I noticed the tires do not last as long with this car.

It is hard to rate this car due to low mileage, but I feel good about this car because it replaced a 2008 fusion that replaced a 2006 focus all with the 4 cylinder engine,I am yet to have any failures. They have really made this a nice car,my wife loves it.

Avoid
I had to replace the engine at 58,000 miles due to antifreeze leaking in it and Ford refused to cover it. Three weeks after that the transmission stopped working. Avoid this car and ensure your loved ones due the same. The people who created this car should be ashamed of their careers and lives. Ford cars are all trash.
transmission or motor
The transmission and motor are both unreliable and poor after a certain amount of time and the air bag light with out a reason

Fusion Titanium AWD - I'm Impressed
Looking for a mid-size AWD sedan and my wants included AWD, styling, quiet, state of the art electronics, Adaptive Cruise Control/Collision Avoidance, trunk that can fit multiple sets of golf clubs, and fun to drive. I value everyday drivability on the roads I actually drive on over track performance. I drove the BMW 3, Audi A4, Cadillac ATS, Volvo S60, Infiniti Q50. Almost giving up, tried the Fusion. Man, was I ever surprised and impressed. This car is fantastic in every aspect I care about. I was prepared to buy a much more expensive car. This car is SO smooth, so quiet, so comfortable, sporty enough, a joy to drive. I really like SYNC, too. Well done, Ford, you won me over, easily.
So far so good
I have owned the car since May and use it to commute back and forth to school. Only has 30K and is three years old but still feels solid. Acceleration is slow with 2.5 but I got it for reliability and gas mileage and it has delivered on both ends. Highly recommend this vehicle to anyway.

poor transmission
i bought this car used with 74,000 on it. and at 84,000 i had a transmission flush done due to being told it could fix the jerking. so 190.00 dollars later the issues went away for about a month. and the issues came back. now at 96,600 the issues are still here and now win your on the highway for about a hour the car feels like u got hit win it shifts gears. and there a slight delay between gears... my mechanic shop says i need a new transmission. i cant afford 3000 for a new one. and the value sucks i payed almost 20,000 for it a little over a year ago and now its worth 10,000 not worth it.

Liked far more than I expected.
Bought my 2014 Titanium Fusion in 2017 and I have to say I have been exceptionally happy with it. Although the gas mileage is okay at best, everything else is great. Feels very roomy for a mid size. The best part is other than routine maintenance I haven’t had any issues with it.
Gotta love it
I purchased my 2014 fusion in 2016 with 30k on it. I've had it for 2 years now and its awesome. Its my work/travel vehicle and I now have 110k on it never had an issue with any part of the car interior/exterior. Only light that ever came up on the dash were the gas light and low tire pressure. Not to mention this vehicle has been in two wrecks in which both times I believed the car should've been totaled so I guess its great on safety. But overall it's a great buy, its reliable as long as you keep up the maintenance and like I said I'm at 110k I'm pretty sure this thing will go 200k easy engine runs like its brand new. No mechanical problem no stereo problems if anyone were to buy it Itd be like taking it straight from the assembly line as new

Sweet ride
This car is as comfortable as any other car I've ever been in. The instrumentation isn't as confusing as I've read in review. Handling and acceleration is absolutely awesome and so far, we're getting 26.9 combined MPG in drive mode. Quiet cabin and HUGE trunk make this a winner alone. Super happy with purchase so far.

Really impressive automobile
We sold our 2008 Honda Accord and went to the Fusion just because we felt like a change, and Fusion had been getting good reviews. We test drove it and were hugely impressed, especially how quiet it was, and how much pep it has. After 5,000 miles, we have identified only tiny negative issues: the ignition key slot is hard to see in the dark; it's hard to see where the front end "ends" when parking (till you get used to it), and with a full tank, we hear a little "creaking" noise that I think may go away as the car gets further broken in. Probably related to suspension or weight from a full tank.
Titanium
What you should know before buying this car is that it has lot of "get up and go" more of a family car than a "first car'. I love the back up camera and the customized seat settings, especially the customizable lumbar support.

2014 ford fusion SE 2.0 Fuel Tank Problem
I have a loud fuel slushing sound in my fuel tank when tank is 3/4 to full. Ford technical staff told my selling dealer this is a normal characteristic for this vehicle. The dealer filled one of his other se 2.0 fusions on his lot with a full tank of gas, and sure enough it did the same thing as my car. I have had 5 previous NEW Ford cars before this Fusion and they did not make this loud slushing sound. I remember the fuel fire problems that the Ford Pinto had in the 70's and I don't feel safe in this car. Please, anyone have any thoughts on what I can do to resolve this. Jan 2017 update: Still own the SE model with the 2.0 engine. Love the car except for slushing fuel when tank is full.

RUN away from the fusion
I bout my Fusion from a BMW dealership in schererville,In with only 55,000k for 1.5 L engine on the dash. It wasn't until 2019 when i finish paying off my car that the problem start happening. 1. The Rear backup camera system stopped working. ford knew it was a problem with the software but will not fix it. 2. The lug nuts that holds your tires together are plastic material with a that will damage with ease if once if you have to change your tires. Buy all new lug nuts on Amazon will save you alot of money and headache in the long run. 3. Antifreeze is leaking into my engine now and ford offers to do nothing at all about it. Even tho 230,000 consumers complained about the fusion . Escape and other models doing it. They refuse to issue a recall on it. They want to bill the consumer $8000.00 to fix there defective vehicles. I will necklace buy another ford in life.

Just purchased a Ford Fusion SE 2014
I love this car.I just purchased it so I don't have a lot of miles on it yet.The ride is very comfortable and noise free. The 4 cylinder 2.5 L is plenty for driving through the city or highway. This car is what I like to say " A champagne car on a beer budget".
Taurus or Fusion
I currently own a 2011 Taurus and I was looking for another one. Then I started seeing these Fusions on the road, I really love the way the front end looks. The rear could use some work though. I only drive about 8 miles per day so it wasn't a huge sacrifice on comfort not getting a Taurus. So I bought a used 2014 w/1.5l eccoboost and it's very responsive, that was my main concern. It still is very comfortable for the size and has a nice quiet cabin. Test drive one and see.

My return to Ford after 20 years.
My last ford (89 F250) was junk. I traded it in to get a more reliable truck, telling myself I was done with Ford. Then I saw the 2014 Fusion and fell in love. Mine is a SE 2.5l in Deep Impact Blue. After researching I decided to give it a try. The test drive sold me, and I got a very good deal. So far I have 43k miles in 4 years with no mechanical issues at all. One set of tires and several oil changes is the extent of my required service. It's not all perfect though: In the SE package the drivers seat is manual, and the seat is too low for my 5'2" wife to see over the dash. She needs to sit on a pillow. This may or may not be a problem for you. Only one recall albeit a serious one: steering wheel nut may come loose. In summation, this is the best car I've ever owned (so far). I can highly recommend it.

135k and no issues and fun to drive
Bought my 2014 Ford Fusion new and now at the end of 2020 and 135k miles, no problems. A few notes though, the 1.5l ecoboost needs timing belts, which costs a bit. Try to get another engine size as this is the only one that has belts, the rest have timing chains which don't require replacement. The ride for me is a little 'sporty/ meaning that you feel bumps and the steering is kind of twitchy. I recently rented a Jetta and that was more 'dead' type of steering, which I actually prefer. Less Drama. I cal the car a 'roller' since once up to 75-85 or so on the highway it wants to go this or faster. Let off of the gas and it stays pretty close to the same speed. Nice highway performance and the engine is really spunky and fun to drive. i still think it's one of the best looking cars on the road and is a great value and highly reliable with no issues at all.

OK But Not Great
Got a 2014 Ford Fusion SE. Previously I had a 2010 Honda Accord. I miss the Honda Accord. The Fusion handles fine, the acceleration is a tad on the slow side. My biggest issue, is the same issue most of the reviews have said which is the bluetooth. At this point I've just given up and used the aux cord. The fuel efficiency is the same as my 2010 Honda.

We use the Fusion to commute between two states and put about 1000 miles on it bi-weekly. When our 2014 got to about 75,000 miles we traded it in for a new2017 AWD Fusion eco-boost. Several nice updates but it's the same, exceptionally well handling vehicle vehicle we've come to rely on.
