Just a bad Ford experience, never again!
The car had a number of problems, every manufacturer will have them but its how the company handles them, Ford failed miserably. The most serious was the transmission, it did not shift properly, it slipped, and it made whining noises. I got nothing but a run around from the dealership and from Ford. I see where many others are having the same problems. The car had a build date of 6/10 which was suppose to be after the factory fix but obviously they have not figured it out yet. This went on for 6 months and finally I had enough and sold the car for a major lose. I laugh when I see the Ford commercials now about quality and commitment.
Transmission problems!
Buyers beware! This model year of Ford Fusion has had many, many transmission problems, and I can not recommend this vehicle. I'm a lifelong Ford owner, and would normally stand up for them, but this machine has been extremely disappointing. The dealership has done the repairs as recommended by Ford, but it's never going to be enough until they re-design the transmission. The transmission started slipping before 20K miles, and would slip bad enough to drop a gear when accelerating at highway speed. It completely disengaged once while at normal highway speeds, and had to coast to the shoulder and "re-boot" the car (it's all electronic controls) to get it back to shop. Do not buy!
Bad BAD customer service!!!
Bought a new 2010 Fusion with a 6 sp auto trans. Nothing but problems with this trans. Had enough and sold the junk. Stay away from this model and Ford.
Great vehicle.
I have 217,000 miles on my Fusion. It has been extremely low cost to maintain and has been fantastic and reliable throughout my ownership of the vehicle. It's been spark plugs, oil changes, and transmission fluid changes primarily. I replaced the TPS sensor at 50,000 miles and it hasn't given me trouble since. I replaced the canister purge valve at 180,000 miles for $17. Can't ask for more comfortable daily driver. Fantastic car. Would recommend to anyone looking for inexpensive comfort and reliabilty. Nice Ride... But The Repairs Will Kill You
I purchased my 2010 Ford Fusion SEL in 2011 and had the car until 2017. I loved driving this car, it handles well, smooth and quiet ride. The car was equipped with heated leather seats, sun/moon roof, microsoft sync, etc. It was a great car to drive. I usually purchase a one yr old car and then plan on driving it for 9 years. Once the car gets to be around 10-11 yrs old I purchase another slighted used 1 yr old car. I planned on having this car until 2020, unfortunately the repairs in the last 3 years (2015 and 2017) have been terrible. Realize I'm a 56 single women who drives mostly around town and I rarely have anyone else in the car. Therefore the car is not abused. First thing was the driver's side tail light, it needed to be replaced 3 times in 3 months in 2015. After the 3 time they replaced the entire housing at the tune of $475. Then in 2016 the horn quit working -- to fix this including labor (they needed to take out the air bag to get to it) cost $550... and then in 2016 the driver's side door handle from the inside didn't work - I had to roll down the window, open the door from the outside to get out of the car :-( ... so I went back and to repair/replace a broken part another $575. Then in 2017 the power steering assist light went on and after taking it to the dealer they told me it would cost $1600 to fix -- holy tamoly. After researching and realizing the car (excellent condition) blue book valued at $5500 I decided it was time to trade it in. So I only got 6 years out of it. The reliability and repairs for this car was unfortunately terrible. If you are thinking about purchasing a used Ford Fusion you might want to do more research.
