2010 Ford Fusion SEL 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 6A)


My Fusion is an SEL with the 3.0 V6, bought mid-2010. Since then I've already put upwards of 25,000 miles on it, mixed city/highway.

In short, I've put it through hell. It still drives like new. Unlike "Big Three" cars of just a few years ago, there's not a squeek or rattle to be heard.

I've had none of the transmission issues some people are complaining about. One must realize that unhappy customers are more likely to speak up than satisfied ones...I highly doubt the number of complaints here are indicative of the actual frequency of the issues (this goes for all cars). I seem to recall though that a change was made to the 2010 transmissions in early 2010 to resolve some issues.

Best Features

-Super comfortable interior (leather) -Very solid Sony sound system -V6 generates plenty of power and is uber-smooth on the highway -Very solid fuel economy: I average 25mpg mixed, but on road trips on the highway I can average 30mpg -Handles very well...good road feel for a mid-size at this pricepoint (not "floaty" like the Camry) -Sync voice system is a nice touch

Worst Features

-Not a fan of the rear-end design of this car. This is purely cosmetic. -Sure would be nice if the 300hp V6 they put in the new Mustangs was in there, but then who'd buy the V6 Mustang? -Sync system is a bit clunky and non-intuitive. For example, if have a USB MP3 player connected, and I say "Play track..." before selecting the USB source, it doesn't understand...even if the USB source is the only one with any available tracks at the time. As a computer programmer myself, I find this to be a bit lazy on Microsoft's part, especially this long into Sync's development

I agree. I think it's hit and miss on this car. Some have a good one others bad. I've had the same transmission issues as wolffchad. I can't take the thought of being stranded again (even though you have roadside) it's inconvenient and should not be happening. I have paid soooo much money on rentals each time my car is in for the transmission. My emblems even started tarnishing this winter. They had to replace that and several other items. After it recently just got out the shop, I sold mine and took a loss. I needed peace of mind. Best wishes with your Fusion as well. I wouldn't wish my experience on anyone

I would agree with your review if Ford was able to identify the problems with their transmissions and fix them. Instead those of us who have these issues are going through hell just to get Ford to even acknowledge that the transmission has a problem. I have had mine in 3 times now. The last was a rebuild and it's starting to slip again between 2-3. I will have to take in again only to be told again and again there is nothing wrong or wait for another failure.
