10,000 Mile Review

89lx5o, 06/17/2010
2010 Ford Fusion SEL 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 6A)
0 of 0 people found this review helpful

I have now owned my Fusion a year and a few months and I passed the 10,000 mile mark. Not one reliability issue to talk about. Still solid no rattles or issues. Over 10,000 miles and my meticulous records I have averaged 23.6 mpg and that is mixed driving (MOSTLY city). Quirk 1, I can't find a comfortable place to rest my left arm. The chair is back so far if I go to place my arm on the door arm rest I bump the B pillar. (I'm 6 ft 1"). Quirk 2, sometimes you have to reselect Ipod as the Sync chooses the phone bluetooth over the usb. Overall very comfortable and quiet ride, handles good and has solid feel. Again Ford out did the competition! I would absolutely buy again, A+ Ford!

Impressive Vehicle

The quiet ride of this 4 cyl SEL is impressive. Acceleration is more than adequate and the fuel economy is better than published EPA estimates. The 6- speed automatic transmission is seamless and provides extremely smooth performance. I like the reverse sensing signal/warning and find it a big plus when parallel parking and backing out of tight spaces. The Sony 12-speaker sound system is awesome. I have the Sport Suspension on my Fusion and find it to be a little too stiff for my liking. It definitely magnifies every bump in the road. I opted for the dealer installed remote starter and think it is a fantastic addition. The 1000 ft range is unbelievable.

Fantastic car! Nothing like you've known about the Fords before. So the TV ads are correct. Built on a Mazda chassis, this beast has a woomph and adds some fun to the driving experience. The looks are great inside out and the seats are very supporting, almost like sporty ones. The dash buttons layout is very intuitive. Loved it so much! The instrument panel is the best in its class -- really easy to read and day and night. Numbers are big, the ambient blueish light is on 24/7 and makes the instrument reading a breeze. Driving is fun, the road feel is great. The car takes turns easily with no under or oversteering, the bumps are damped pretty well for the car of this price, steering easy.

Chose Fusion Sport over Lincoln MKZ

Oiginally considered a Lincoln MKZ, the same basic car but with fancier options, but it seemed too much like an old man car. Fusion Sport has almost all the same options with a sportier look. Got it with AWD and handling is great. I think I will tear up the factory tires for the next year and then splurge on some nicer ones. Engine has good pickup... doesn't really snarl like a true sports car but acceleration is effortless. In tuxedo black, the car turns some heads and the exterior on the 2010 is a big improvement over the previous Fusions. So far, I'm really enjoying it.

This car is very nice, great looks inside and out and a very nice ride. I drove the Honda Accord, whats up with the road noise could not stand it, drove the Mazda6 to big cheap inside, drove Nissan Altama a let down felt cheap. The Fusion sport is very solid and great to drive it continues to grow on me.

Seat belt comfort sub par

My wife and I bought this car in may 2010. The car drives nicely. We bought the sel model fwd with charcoal black leather interior and sport blue metallic paint. We purchased the car with the blis system and the upgraded Sony stereo. The blind spot monitoring system is nice. A little sensitive but nice. The 3.0 v6 has good pickup and is quiet. I have two issues with this car. First, the fuel economy in city driving is abysmal. I only get 13 mpg in the city. The car only has 1100 miles on it though. The other issue I have is that the seat belt pinches my side when I buckle it. This makes for an uncomfortable ride. It is hard find a comfortable seating position.

Great car - quiet at all speeds as long as Windows and sunroof closed. Not a good car for Windows down driving at highway speeds. Great gas mileage (had an explorer before). I get 30 mpg on highway at 70 mph w/ Cruise and low 20's in town. Strong engine but exhaust too muted - looking for aftermarket. Wish it was a manual stick. Interior is very nice - love SYNC and Sony sound system. Seats could be more comfortable but decent. Lots of people like the looks of the car.

This is my first car in a long time. I have had trucks for the last 8 years and I was not too excited about getting a sedan. Drivng this car made me forget all about wanting another truck. The fit and finish on this car is first class. Everything is tight and pleasing to the eye. The V6 with the 6sp auto has great performance and has a suprising amount of pep at highway speeds when you need to pass someone. I am very impressed with this product from Ford. Is as good or better than any other mid-sized sedan I have been in. A real good example of how good Ford can do.

What a great and amazing car! I pretty much drive for a living (I drive close to 80K miles every year). When I bought this car it was down to the Acura TL and this Fusion Sport and the bang for the buck was in the end unbeatable. I was really worried if the car would have the fun to drive factor in the twisties and retain the comfort over long hauls. I've made both of those trips dozens of times so far (Longest trip was 2500 miles in 9 days) and this car is brilliant. No regrets about not buying the acura I have nearly 45k trouble free miles! Will buy another one for sure.

I have the gray Ford SE Automatic. Good riding car. Fairly quite interior. Drove a Honda, Altima, Hyundai. The Ford won out. City driving about 18 MPG and I mean city driving. Stop signs on almost every corner, red lights, heavy traffic etc. The few times I had it on the highway I got anywhere from 33 mpg to 35 mpg. Only minor complaint is the controls are to low on the dash and the elevated rear shelf in the back makes it a little harder to back into a parking space. I will add a rear spoiler to solve that problem. Overall a very good car.

had this fusion hybrid a month now and a great decision. With the fed tax credit and dealer discount the hybrid extra cost is well worth it. I am getting better mileage than advertised- about 43 city and 42 hwy. The battery is warranteed for 100,000 miles. This car is super smooth and quiet on the road. Great handling. I have had new cadillacs and corvettes and super sports and I am liking this car more for far less money. So many things are standard on this car that i got the base model with more equipment than what came on my super sport. This fusion is everything ford bragged it to be and more. Very happy with it

Bought the Fusion Sport to replace an '09 Jetta with a manual transmission due to traffic in the DC area. Price with rebates is very attractive. Fit and finish seem good but it is too soon to really tell. V-6 provides smooth acceleration and 6 speed automatic is a joy to drive. Car is sportier than the Camry; costs less than a similar Accord and handles better. A solid choice for a person who needs a family sedan but wants something that is sporty but doesn't require premium unleaded.

I have owned several Lincolns, two Jaguars and numerous Ford products over the years and the 2010 Sport is probably the best put together most fun to drive vehicle I've owned in years. Not to mention the best in fuel economy. Build quality is a 10! I compare a new vehicle to something I have owned in the past and this beats out my 2006 JaguarS-Type for the ride, fun to drive and gas Mileage. Huge rear leg room and ample trunk. I can't say enough about the 2010 Fusion Sport.

Wanted something sporty but needed a family car. Wanted awd. This car met all the needs. Get compliments from Young guys at the tire shop (rotate the tires. Since they're low-pro's) up to retirees. Most folks don't know what brand it is and are shocked when I say Ford. Great lines and the sport is packaged well. Super quiet on the road. And gas mileage has been more like 20 (pure city/suburbs) and 27 pure highway. With 25ish mixed. Couldn't get the car stuck in the winter. Tires just let me down on braking/steering. But if you're careful you won't get stuck and won't crash. Overall I'm very glad I bought this over 2010 a4 or used 328xi. 90k for 1st tune up versus 35k for Audi.

I just purchased my 6th Ford vehicle and even though I haven't had it for long it is my favorite. In recent years I have mostly been in the suv/truck mode but was ready for a change. My husband didn't want me to get a 4cly engine but when he drove the vehicle he instantly changed his mind. Plenty of get up and go. The car is beautiful and filled with enough bells and whistles to keep me clued to the owners manual to get educated. Good going Ford!

This is one terrific car. It is easy and fun to drive, handles well, does well on gas, is very comfortable, and best of all IT DOES NOT HAVE ONSTAR. That alone is what steered me away from GM. Do yourself a favor and request the brochure from Ford online and you'll get an extra $750 off. With rebates, incentives, etc. I got this pretty well loaded car for about $5,000 below sticker price. Great buy on great car. If GM finally gets around to introducing more new cars than new CEOs AND offer what people really want without useless nonsense like OnStar they might start to get it right.

This car has plenty of power and features in the class. The design is very American with the garish chrome grill and the plastic on the dash looks like walrus hide but is sturdy. Sync is simply amazing. The seats are well bolstered and supportive. This is a very good reliable American sedan that is fun to drive and nifty.

Just bought my 2010 Ford Fusion with the Moon and Tune package. Drove it 400 miles in one night. Gas mileage is very high, 35-40 on the highway, 20-25 in town (who needs a hybrid?). The leather interior is soft and comfortable, the 4 cyl engine has surprisingly great performance and the ride is smooth and quiet. I have never had a car this nice before, and Ford has now spoiled me. You have to drive this car to really believe it, but have your checkbook handy, it will only take one drive to get hooked.

After trying most of the competitors including two long-term rentals (>4000 miles each) for road tests, I bought a 2010 Fusion SEL AWD. I'm very pleased with this update. Ford actually appears to be listening to customer reactions. What a novel concept. The new interior is much improved and the finish finally reaches a suitable level. The front seating is much improved, and the Sony sound system is excellent. Visits from several neighbours suggest that the Fusion has caught others' eyes too.

I researched a lot and test drove about 6 other cars including Accord, Malibu, Mazda6, Altima. The car has great pickup with the V6. Seating is comfortable. Ride is very sporty without feeling every bump. The Sony audio system is great and the Sync voice-activation system is great once I figured it out. Storage space is sufficient. Fold down the rear set and you can haul an item over 7 feet long. Gas mileage is not necessarily as advertised. I'm only getting around 14-15 MPG. But using the Flex fuel which is around 55 cents less than regular gas is a big plus. Rear leg room could be added as an improvement. But, overall I love this car.

I'm not very bias when it comes to Ford vs Chevy vs any other car company for that matter. I know what I want, and shop for that. Living in VT and traveling as much as I do, I needed a AWD vehicle. I had a 2001 A4 2.8Q, which was a great car. Once it was time to put it out to pasture, my buddy suggested the Fusion (he had an F150, which I thought was another great vehicle), so I test drove it and was instantly impressed. So much to love. I'm glad I bought it, and don't miss my Audi one bit.

Like another reviewer on here I had a 2008 Fusion before my 2010. I actually leased the first one. I had a 2008 SE with the sport package/sync, etc. I LOVED IT. It was a fun, sporty car. I was very impressed. The 2010 is not as exciting, albeit I don't have the sport package anymore. The car looks good, but Ford puts strange packages together. i.e. I wanted the monochrome pkg and sync, but it was no where to be found - it was one or the other. I opted for the moon n tune package. The car is good and economical, but the transmission lags terribly, no pickup at all, and hubcaps on a $26k car? C'mon Ford.

Owning many other cars (GM, Toyota, Honda) over the past 30 years, this is my first Ford and I'm impressed. Traded in a '07 Pontiac G6 hard top convertible as it was coming out of warranty. The Fusion Sport looks good, handles great and has very good acceleration. It's a great sporty, family car. I've had for a month and put on 1100 miles, including 400 miles over Thanksgiving. Very comfortable for 4 adults and good trunk size. Getting 18/25 MPG. Considered Mazda6 with some extra features, but the look and feel of the Fusion Sport won me over. After one final back-to-back test drive between the two, the decision was easy. Purchased with Moon/Tune pkg. and rear assist sensors.

Wanted to get into the nicest vehicle for under $525/ mnth purchase price. I drive a ton for work, 24K/ year. The Fusion is easy on the eye, very well appointed, and the engine and transmission are great. Lots of room inside. Huge trunk. I got the all black leather interior. Two tone interior was goofy looking. I am averaging 21 MPG and I have been jumping on it for fun. This car compares well to the Acura TSX, Camry and Honda Accord. I drove the V6 Accord and it was really dull. The Fusion is a blast to drive.

We just love our Fusion, ride performance, looks, everything. The first trip we took it on we averaged 29.9 MPG. Our SEL is a V6, but it isn't AWD. The fit and finish is very good, I have found no defects what so ever. Performance is more than adequate. The MPG is better than I expected. The cross traffic warning system is great when backing out of a parking place between two SUVs. We also love the blind spot warning system.

As mentioned by many others, the automatic transmission on this car is horrible! Why can't these manufacturers leave well enough alone? The 6 speed doesn't provide any better gas mileage and makes the overall driving experience wretched. It hasn't left me stranded yet, but I expect that it will before too long. I like pretty much everything else about the car, although there are some "basics" (outside temp., auto headlights, etc.) that are missing. Will not buy again unless trans problems are fixed.

Excellent midsize sedan. The "lesser" trims still pack tons of features, such as our new SE. The engine is more than capable, its not a sports car by any means, but the Mazda derived 6 speed manual lets you have a bit of fun. Sync works well, if a little confusing at first.

V-6, FWD. Drove to Durango, Co from Denver across the Rockies & averaged 30 mpg. Old car was 2004 Honda Accord EX, V6. Ford is quieter, has as much acceleration, a smoother ride, better gas mileage, and a bigger trunk. It basically cost the same as the Honda did 5 years ago. I got the Moon & Tune package and there is great sound from the speakers. Good traction in snow (I have snow tires on). I went to dealer and asked if he would meet edmunds price and he did--no haggling. I have about 2,800 miles on the car and so far I have no complaints. A very nice car for under $25,000.

The car handles amazing, decent to good gas mileage depending on how your drive, full tank of gas gives you 400 600 kilometeres. The speakers are awesome along with the ambient lighting package, satellite radio has Howard Stern and the Playboy channel. Has good power for the v6, leather internior along with the dash board gadgets look great. I have nothing bad to say about this car! Ford has definitely kicked it up a notch! This is an amazing ride! And I would recommend it to everybody!

Coming off a 2006 Nissan Altima S with 5 speed I can say the Fusion is a much nicer car (more fun to drive, better features, looks beautiful). The shifter is extremely smooth and due to the adjustability of the driver seat you can get in perfect position. I have the sunroof package and paid just over $19,000 due to the $1500 rebate. I think I got a super deal and I am glad to help Ford out since they didn't take the government handouts like Chrysler and GM.

While on a trip, the tach would rev back and forth while loosing power when "trying" to shift into high gear. When it finally did shift, it shifted hard. Did this 7 times before we got it home. Took it right to garage and it sat there exactly 7 days before they even pulled it inside. Now they have it torn apart trying to find the problem.. Really shocked at the problems. My husband has had 3 as company cars and never had an ounce of trouble with them.

Moved from a MKZ to a Fusion Sport because we feel we got a better car with more features for less money. That said, we never had any problems with the MKZ. We were about 5 miles from the dealership on the day we took delivery when we noticed a "burning rubber" smell in the cabin. Thought it would go away, but it did not. Took it back to the dealer at about 200 miles and they smelled it but couldn't find anything. They said to drive it and the smell would go away. 1200 miles later it still smells, it's back at the dealer's and they think it's our imagination. Not what I expect from the "Car of the Year".

Have enjoyed two long trips in the car to New Orleans and the Catskills. Trunk is huge. Rear does not bottom with two men in back and full trunk of luggage and tools. Short trip town mileage is 20-21 mpg and highway is 26-27. The V6 moves the car easily and highway passing is great. Love the progressive pressure brakes. Car is exceptionally quiet. I love the fit and finish. Sound system is great with the 12 speaker Sony. My Sterling Gray Metallic is the most beautiful metallic I've ever seen.

Over the past 30 years I have purchased new cars made by gm (6), Toyota (1), Chrysler (2), Honda (1) and Volkswagen (2) 12 in all. I never even considered a Ford. Well this time I drove a new 2010 fusion sel with the new 4 cyl and 6 speed auto. What a car! Fit, finish, interior + quality and excellent ride and handling nery good power in the 4 cyl. I was impressed. This is by far the best new car I have ever purchased! I have waited to write this for a while because I wanted to get a true Gage on fuel economy. I get 26-27 mpg city and 35 mpg hwy anyone that has a Toyota Camry or any other mid-size should look at this car, drive the car and buy it! Thank you Ford building this great car...

Just traded in the old 2003 Blazer under the "Cash For Clunker's" program and got a 2010 Fusion SE. The car is fantastic! It's beautiful inside and out. It is very nice to drive and is very comfortable. I get 36mpg on the highway going about 73 miles/hr. My favorite feature is the fold down rear seats allowing me to get my bicycle in the car without a car rack. There is nothing I would change about this car other than the hubcaps. I wish it had "real" wheels.

Bargain Audi A4

I recently decided to trade in my Mustang GT for something more practical and better able to handle Midwestern winters. I looked at the Subarus but they seemed chintzy and kinda ugly (have you seen the new Legacy?), and Hondas (no AWD except for their SUVs). The Fusion's AWD is a rarity in this class and along with the big V-6 and iPod integration I couldn't find anything better out there. I have been extremely pleased with the Fusion so far and it has handled Chicago snow without any problem. I hope it continues to impress!

For years I leased Honda Accords. I loved the cars but outside noise was a problem. After suffering through buying several used cars I landed with my Red 2010 Fusion Sport. This by far is the best car I have ever owned. And I've had 15 cars and trucks since my first one and I'm 42 now. The comfort and sportability of this car is awesome. I nick named my car the "Red Rocket". It has bells and whistles that you wouldn't expect on a Ford or for a mid-sized car. It is extremely comfortable on long drives and gets halfway decent gas mileage on the highway. I would recommend this car to anyone, but get the Sport, you won't regret it.

What a well built vehicle. The handling is superb and it is about time a car manufacturer designed a sporty looking sedan. I love the color (sport blue) and the interior is modern and roomy. The Sun and Tunes package is awesome. The Sync feature works flawlessly. I was looking at an Audi A4 (great car too but a very expesive Jetta) and I am glad I went in this direction. Go BLUE OVAL!!!!

I have owned Camrys since 1990. I had to unexpectedly replace my 2003 Camry. My son convinced me to test drive a Fusion. I was apprehensive about leaving Toyota especially for a Ford! I have bought nothing but Toyota's since 1978 and I was concerned about the reliability and quality of an American car. What a pleasant surprise!!! I love my Fusion and I get lots of compliments on it. It's sporty, attractive, and practical. Ford did an excellent job with the 2010 Fusion!

Decided on the Fusion over Sonata, Jetta TDI, and Mazda 6, and am I glad I did. I'm impressed with the quality of the fit and finish and the looks --- this is not like the Fords of years past. 6-speed manual is fun to drive w/ a crisp shift. Ford really built a winner with this vehicle. As the owner of several foreign-made vehicles in the past, I am glad to see an American manufacturer build something to compete with (and even beat out) Japan and Germany.

To be honest, this car wasn't my first choice. I was set to buy an Altima until the Nissan dealer pulled a bait and switch on me. I found this car by mistake...Thank you Nissan! I've had my Fusion for a couple of weeks now, and can't believe I didn't find it sooner. The exterior is hip, yet not too hip for my age. Interior is comfortable for my 6' 200lb frame, and can comfortably seat 4 adults or an adult and 4 teens! Sound system is above average, and the dash gets lots of notice. The sync system is outstanding and easy to use. Mileage so far is roughly 30mpg in mixed conditions. Car handled very well in recent snow storm. V6 engine is very spunky. Quiet ride.
