I puchased a brand new 2006 Ford Fusion because of reliability and currently have about 74,000 miles on it and the transmssion is going bad- it slips and knocks. Talked to numerous mechanics and been given runaround! Will drive car until it dies but now I know why people are buying Toyota's and Honda's! BOBALU2

1 month after I purchased my used Ford Fusion I had to replace the entire engine due to there being NO OIL in my engine...?? They couldn't find out where it's going or what is wrong with it. My warranty that I purchased covered the replacement with another used engine...I kept up with repairs and oil changes. 1.5yrs later it is devoid of oil AGAIN, and I am told I need another new engine...?? I'm done with the car, and have began seeking legal counsel since the Ford Dealership won't do anything for me. Suggestions about this situation is welcome!

I have driven pickups all my life and I was not sure how I would like driving the Fusion on a daily basis, but it has been very good and is very comfortable for long trips and office trips. The V6 is the best option for engines and leather seats comfort the ride. This vehicle is a winner.

My wifes new Fusion is the best riding Ford with the least road noise I've ever ridden in. I've always been a Ford man but thought the Fords always had too much road noise but the new Fusion does not. Got the V6 with more than enough power. Gas mileage runs about 26 in the city and was 28.5 when new on the highway; should be around 30 or better now on the highway. Very tight made and a pleasure to drive.

I bought my 2006 Fusion at the year end model change over in Sept., 2006. Having someone in the family that worked for Ford I got a great deal on it. I wouldn't have lost 1 penny on it IF I had sold it in the first year. I'm so glad I didn't. After 12 yrs I am considering buying a new car...but after reading so many of the reviews and how many miles others got from their's I am hesitant. My car has less than the average 12 yr old car but still over 100K so my son (the mechanic) is urging me to consider trading up. Honestly this car hasn't cost me anything other than routine oil changes, tires and 1 tune up. The only thing I can say bad about it is the paint has chipped down to bare metal in several spots over the wheel wells. (oh yes, I did have one other expense - I did take the car to our local body shop and have them paint the rocker panels and they also coated them with something to help it resist the salt of Ohio roads in winter). A wise man once said, " the cheapest car to drive is the one you already have (if it's paid off)" He said, "even if you have to put a new engine or transmission in it - if it is sound in other respects , that's still cheaper than paying tens of thousands for a new one". So I am considering taking the car to the body shop and having them touch up all those bare metal spots. Also considering investing in an after market warranty just in case something major does go.
