THIS CARS A LEMON STAY AWAY
I purchased my vehicle new in January 2017 and it was already back at the dealer in April 2017 for a transmission shudder. The same part in the trans has been "fixed" 3 times by 2 different Ford dealerships and is scheduled for its 4th repair for the same problem next week. Within a few weeks of each repair the shudder returns. The best part? Ford won't authorize any dealerships to replace the part until it gets bad enough that you're feeling the shudder every single time you touch your gas peddle. I personally know 3 other individuals with a focus between the years 2012-2016 who have had the same experience I've had. Absolutely unacceptable. I contacted Ford about my options since its clear this vehicle is a lemon and the regional costumer service rep could hardly give me the time of day. She was almost impossible to reach and when I finally did get in contact with her she ignored my biggest question- what will I do when my warranty runs out and I have to pay for these repairs every few months out of pocket?! Shame on Ford for taking no responsibility for their mistake and letting their costumers suffer. Extremely poor vehicle and extremely more costumer service from Ford.

My 2nd Focus in 10 years - WOW!
I had a 2007 Focus SE Hatchback and just purchased a 2016 Focus SE Hatchback two weeks ago. I really liked the first one, but this one is an entirely different animal. Ford kept the best of the previous models and managed to add a whole collection of improvements. I opted for the Stick Shift with the SE Luxury Package- -Rear Disc Brakes, Leather, Fog Lamps, LED Running Lights, 17" alloys and upgraded stereo system. Handling for the Focus has always been a hallmark of the model, but Ford managed to improve it. After driving it nearly 1200 miles, all I can say is WOW! What a difference 9 years made in the level of refinement. Quieter, more powerful, awesome handling and shifting, and lots of nifty features like Traction Control, Hill Assist and a Back up Camera. It's like Ford actually got in my head when I was driving the last car and got the wish list of items I had for that vehicle and added them for my next purchase. I will say that Stick Shift Models are somewhat hard to find - My dealership rep took 3 weeks to get one in with the specs that I provided him with. Cons: Tight back seat, Tall gearing in Final drive.

Piece. of. Crap
DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!!! I have issues with the transmission shuttering when I accelerate from a stop-the dealerships say it is within the specifications for the car so they will not do anything at all for it. I just found out today that my car is leaking or burning coolant which is "unusual" for a three year old car. And I have a notice sitting stuck to my refrigerator that doesn't have a fix for it yet (the car can run out of gas). This car has been the biggest waste of time and money. I am getting ready to trade mine in, eat the difference, and get a used car that wont crap out on me before I have it paid off. I will never own another ford vehicle again.

Not worth the headache
I purchased a 2016 Ford Focus on 7/30/2020. And have been having issues with it since. It hasn't been 30 days. It jumps when going from first gear to second gear. Come to find out Ford had a repair recall on the shutter. And now i'm having issues with the clutch. And i'm seeing that Ford has been having a lot of complaints about clutch issues. Ford really need to recall all Ford Focus off the market. To many people are having issues with this make and model. Something has to be done.
You get what you pay for
Cons: Bought a 2016 Focus S Sedan less than 3 weeks ago. Within the first 400 miles of driving it the passenger side rear wheel cap fell off. This wasn't covered by the warranty. Luckily the parts are so cheaply made that it only costs $36 to replace, although this should not be occurring with a brand new vehicle. Vibrations are also noted in the front seat roof storage panel, possibly from a loose part. Being an S model, the panel is merely for show and has no direct access without taking the entire panel off. An unnecessary feature in my opinion. Acceleration is minimal at best and the rear seats offer little leg room if you are a taller driver. On the manual transmission model the pedals have a cramped feel; the clutch could be offset to the left by 3-4 inches. Pros: Basic model (S trim) still offers Ford Sync and a rear backup system with monitor. Instrument panel is well laid out. Spacious seating in the front if you don't mind compromising for rear seat leg room. Smooth shifting with a manual 5-speed transmission. Fuel efficient for both city and highway driving.
