The PERFECT first car
This has been a wonderful first car! It was actually purchased in '03, and I've just now had my first glitches. Which were still covered under the warranty and promtly fixed!
Great bang for the buck
I definitely didn't imagine two weeks ago that I'd walk away with a car for less than $15k (after rebates and discounts) as great as the Focus has been thus far. It's comfortable, has many of the options that I wouldn't have expected in a "economy" car, and most importantly doesn't feel cheap. I bought this as a commute/winter car because my Camaro wasn't cutting it, and thus far the Camaro has sat parked while I have enjoyed driving this car.

Two good Foci
Great car for the money so far. Fully loaded car like this is a bargain. Also, my 2001 Focus has been a very good car so far (70,000 miles).
Fun and peppy!
Fun car to drive. Hugs the road nicely. Makes great tight turns. Quiet engine. Almost soundproof when windows are up. A great value for the money!
Great Car
I love this car as soon as I saw it I fell in love with I get great gas mileage I love the way the car handels on rough road.
ZX4 Focus 2005 Automatic
No complaints, except placing a K & N Air Filter is an odyssey. Very difficult due to location.
My First Car
This is my first car ans so far it is cool and fun to drive.
Fun & great to drive
The only thing I don't like is it stays in high idle between shifts. Like the speed controler doesn't work to idle the motor down. Other than this the car is GREAT..
Focus 2005
I purchased my Ford Focus after getting into a horrible car accident, in another Ford Focus. I would have been seriously injured if I was not in a Focus. My 2005 Ford Focus ZX4 has helped me continue to feel safe. My only problem with the vehicle was my transmission. About 11,000 miles later, my transmission blew. With my warranty I was able to get a brand new one. I am pleased with my Focus.
Great everyday car
Although the styling of the Mazda 3 seems more desireable, the slew of standard features for the price puts the Focus over the top. The new redesigned body and interior is much better than previous years. The seats are more comfortable and the exterior is much more sporty. For a four door car with room, fuel economy, power, and all year round driveablilty this is the best dollar for dollar value I can find.
Love my Focus
Traded in an F-150. I was afraid I wouldn't enjoy a small car. But I was wrong. It's very zippy and I love passing gas stations on the road! Handles great on curves, visibility is good and the trunk is very roomy. According to my teenage son the legroom is good also. I like the 6 CD changer but will probably upgrade the system. You'll have to get use to the funny sound the blinker makes. Overall I highly recommend this car.
good car
I purchased this vehicle for the intention of my commuter car but i find myself driving it more often than my other vehicle because its roomy, fun to drive and comfortable.Stereo sounds really well, features are easy to use.trunk is large enough and it just looks good!
Wonderful car
I had totaled my 2000 Elantra, and wanted something different. This car has it all. 3 door hatch is very cool looking. It drives like a dream. 5 speed is easy to use every day. great, supportive seats, quiet. and dont even get my started on the 500 watt Sony sound system. Personally, i think its the best stock stereo i have heard. blazing copper metallic paint (orange) and 3 door hatch looks like nothing on the road.
So not dissappointed
I traded out of a full size SUV, and was doubtful that I would be content with a compact as a replacement. I love this little car!! There's plenty of uummmph under the hood, the ST's seats hug like nobodys business and the list of standard features is the best for the money. So far I havent had any problems with the car, but I would encourage others to opt for the upgraded stereo system.
Junk
Less than a year after buying this car, the transmission died. It turns out there is a design flaw with the transmission. Way to go Ford. Regardless, the car is a piece of junk. The interior is cheap and cramped and rattles like the doors are lined with ball bearings.
We'll See!
Purchased my '05 Focus last month and so far I've been pretty happy with it. However, there were three defects that have been corrected. They forgot to install one of the bolts that holds the rear wheel well guard in place. Paint defect on the hood and the passenger mirror molding came loose. Local dealer fixed them all. Must have been built on a Fiday or Monday! Overall this little car is very good. The idependant rear suspension is nice as is the handling and responsiveness. The driver seat feels like it wraps around you. Traded in my '03 Corolla for it. The Corolla is jerky on the road and hurts your rear after a long trip. I hope the Focus can stay par with reliability.
One Fun Focus!
Summing it up in a nutshell. Dont consider the purchase of any other vehicle until you have at least driven a Focus one time. It is one of the most fun and most reliable vehicles at an affordable price on the road today! Happy Driving!
my focus
reliable, fair gas mileage, rear carpet is poorly installed. Very goo handling.
Focus is a Winner
I think anyone that would take the time to drive the Focus would fall in love with it. The handling is wonderful and gas mileage is exceptional. The car is cute and sassy. Comfort is built in with the quality.
happy
i love this car and everything about it except there is no where to put your loose change in it.
Next car after Ford ZX2
Our 2000 year old ZX2 was still good, but I thought now was a good time to get a new car. I think this 2005 is a much better vehicle with a lot more space. There is so much more space and this trunk gives good space. Also, we have a moonroof(sunroof) and it works quite well. We really are enjoying this car!
Great for Price
I'm pretty critical of vehicles myself, but overall i was very pleased with the vehicle. Unfortunately it is not for the die-hard performance fan. Granted it definitely has the potential. No major problems with the car but it does rev too high between shifts, clutch is not as responsive as the engine needs, the engine does not lose rpm's fast enough for serious performance use and takes most of the fun out of it, corners well, accelerates rather well, but cannot use the torque of the engine to drift in corners because the engine does not wind down. But for under $20,000 we shouldn't expect it to handle like a Porsche
Easy Transition
I previously owned a Ford Escort and was reluctant on going to the Focus. The transition has been wonderful! I love the way the car handles, it's very quiet, I love the speedvolume and the size of the car. It's spacious and comfortable!
Focus Fun
As much fun to drive as my miata, less noise, more comfortable. Reminds me of my 80 BMW 320 in it's handling and performance. Fold down seats accomidated a full size futon frame and mattress. Great car for the price especially after rebates.
Very Satisfied Customer
Have wanted this car for a few years now and am glad that I waited for the new style. The Focus is roomy, handles wonderfully, and makes me feel safe as a driver, and as a driver of small children. I love all the safety features and find this to be the most family friendly car I have found. The safety seat, and air bag features are all conducive to driving with small children in a safe & legal manner. I love my car and know I made the right choice for my family.
REALLY NEAT CAR!
PRETTY GOOD VALUE, CONSIDERING PRICE PAID! GAS MILEAGE WAS IMPORTANT ITEM CONSIDERED. SIZE OF CAR IS SUPRISING,INT ROOM IS LARGE FOR CAR RATED A SUBCOMPACT! EASY TO REACH CONTROLS A PLUS. RIDE IS VERY GOOD, VERY QUIET INSIDE. WIFE WILL USE THIS FOCUS...HER CAR! BOUGHT FOR AROUND TOWN DRIVING.MY WIFE HADE A 1998 FORD CONTOUR V6 AUTO,AND WE HAD REAL GOOD SERVICE OUT OF IT, SO IM LOOKING FOR MORE OF THE SAME WITH THIS FOCUS! BASED ON PAST FORDS WE HAVE OWNED, I THINK WE'LL BE JUST FINE !BUT...WHOEVER READS THIS...IF YOU DONT MAINTAIN THE VEHICLE PROPERLY,YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT! IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A DECENT RIDE, CHECK THIS ONE OUT...BEFORE YOU LOOK AT A FOREIGN MODEL!
Great Little Wagon for Price!!
Love this vehicle! Handles well with awesome gas mileage! Holds all of my sons sporting equipment as one of the reasons why I have purchased this vehicle. Love the sunroof and the multi disc player. I bought extra, the net for groceries and the cargo cover for the back so you can hide your valuables. Handles great! Fits me like a glove. No where to put your purse but in the back seat. Unfortunately had one accident in it and we were all safe! Awesome!
The Amazing Focus...La Blue
My expierence with my 2005 Ford Focus has been very new, fun and exciting. It has no play in the steering wheel and turns on a dime. It rides like a big car because it has 16" tires and seems sound proof from the road noises.I still can't believe it is a small car as it constantly rides and handles almost like the Mercury Marquis that I traded in.I have only had it a couple of months but the enjoyment of not visiting the gas station frequently has been great. The 4 cylinder engine seems like an 6 or 8 cylinder as it has incredible spunk and pick up when you need to pass or you are on the thruway. It is my first new car. and It was fairly priced and it truly is an amazing focus.
2005 Focus
So far so good. The ride is really rough but I guess that is to be expected from a compact car. Overall, excellent car for the money.
Many comparisons later...
I researched on the internet and then set out to drive the top 4 (Corolla, Civic, Mazda3, and Focus). After some unpleasant experiences with my 2000 Focus I really didn't expect to buy another Ford. I could not believe the improvements in the 2005! It was much more comfortable and fun to drive than any of the others. The power is great, mileage over 30mpg, looks good, and the price with all the "standard" options beat the others- hands down! Love to drive (and my friends love to ride) in my sporty new Focus!
It's a Fun Car w/ tons of extra Gear!
I have enjoyed my new Focus. At first when my friends ask me, " Man what did you get." I replyed sheepishly FOCUS. But once they drove it or even caught a glimpse of all the gear it came with like the power sun roof and 6 mp3 in dash player, Everyone has agreed this was a smart purchase.
Excellent, best car I ever had or drove
My Focus drives like a dream come true. I don't have to worry about whether my kids are safe in it, because of all the safety features that have been implemented. It was very easy to get the car seat in, and I love the fact that it is soo efficient on the gasoline that it won't land me in the poor house either. I would not let anyone talk me into selling it. This is the best car buy I ever made. It is also the best car I drove.
My Awesome Focus
I am so happy I bought this car. It handles so well and feels like you're riding on air. Whie I was skeptical about having leather seats, I was plesantly surprised to find they are so soft and comfortable. I wish someone would pay me to just drive my Focus all day, then I'd be even happier! Everyone should get this amazing automobile!!!
GREAT CAR FUN TO DRIVE
Very cool unique car, nice design and layout and great standard features. Wish they would make the SVT but no luck. Not a fast car but it makes up for it in reliability and features.
Nice Car For the Money
Just picked mine up after test driving a few cars. It's nice for the money as all of the desirable options are built into it. Nice engine and good handling - but it's still a small economical car that has been tweaked to be something that it may not be. I do like the looks and throaty sound of the engine. Interior is very nice looking. Stereo with steering wheel controls are nice. AC cools quickly. Still has some of the cheap "Fordisms", but with all the options, a better deal than a Jetta...So I got it.
Fantastic
Just bought this car about 3 weeks ago. I spent waaaaaaay too much time researching cars. I was between an '04 Civic, a used Ranger, and an '05 Focus. This car is my first car and it's perfect. It drives wonderful, gets great mileage, and looks nice and I love Ford. The bang for your buck on this car is fantastic. I ended up getting this for just a tad more than a powerless Hyundai Accent I test drove. (If you are REALLY on a budget and don't mind not having anything under the hood, I guess I could suggest that). Overall, I love the car and so far, it's done everything I've wanted it to do and with regular maintenance, I expect the same.
great small car
The biggest downer is its interior. A little bland. The build quality, inside and out, is good. The car drives great. The steering is tight and precise, and the engine has far more power than my old Civic. The ride is a little rough and the car a bit noisy when it's really windy, but overall for a car its price, I'm extremely satisfied. I test drove the Corolla, Civic, Jetta and Sentra before choosing the Focus.
First time ford
I love this little car. I drive alot for work and I needed something that was easiy on gas but could hold its own in fast moving traffic. I had never owned a ford before.(actually I'm the first one in my entire family to buy one) So I was a little nervous when I bought this car. But I would recommend this car to anyone.
Careful if you buy a manual 2005 ZX3
I bought this car, took it on vacation and on the way home, the brand new clutch burned out on a Saturday. On Monday I was told the part was on a national backorder. It would be weeks before it would be ready. I was 800 miles from home. My dealership was awesome. They got Ford to pull the part off the assembly line. The reimbursed me up to a $1000, but not for my missed time at work which cost me another $500. I love the car, but I will not buy another manual after this.
the
from my first shift in this car I have disliked the clutch (alot). This car is not ment for any serious preformance driving but is fun to drive around town. The gas mileage has not been what was listed on the sticker or what I had hoped for.I do receive lots of compliments on the new styling (compared to the old focus) and the front/center mounted antena is very "euro".Should have bought a Honda but i have never seen a civc rally car!
NO BELLS AND WHISTLES
PLAIN BUT VERY FUNCTIONAL.FUN TO DRIVE,TIGHT TURNING RADIUS,QUIET AND ROOMY INTERIOR.REASONABLY COMFORTABLE INTERIOR.IT HANDLES WELL ON CURVES AND HAS A PRETTY SMOOTH RIDE.SOUND SYSTEM IS NICE AND IT HAS A SPACIOUS TRUNK FOR ITS SIZE
Awesome car
This is a good dependable car that has the sport compact feel and excellent European handling. Great gas mileage, almost 35 miles to the gallon is what I get.
My '05 Focus Rocks!!!!!
I own a 2005 Ford Focus door hatchback zx3 and I love it, I traded in my 2000 focus and made the greatest decision ever.
Fun to drive!
I enjoy driving my focus ZX5 SE so much! It handles very well, it holds the road and turns evenly. I also like the exterior, it's sporty & classy at the same time.
MUCH IMPROVED
Previously owned a 2000 Focus LX, until I moved up to SUV's, still own 04 wrangler and 04 Pilot EX. I use this Focus as a commuter car, and it is not only cheaper than my 2000 Focus. It cost me only $12,000. It is much improved, especially in power ,auto transmission, handling and braking. And it still retains its exclusive Euro traits, excellent car!
excellent car for a low price
As far as I'm concerned...I think that Ford has a excellent car in the Focus. It has a lot of pep, and gets good gas mileage. I've done two tests so far and have reached 32 mpg on average. Thats about 70% stop and go 30% highway. You can pay 3-6K more for a Honda or Toyota ... but what you are really paying for is the history that it's reliable. I'd take the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty then my chances afterwards...and pocket the $6,000.
Hard to Shift Focus
I have a 5 speed which is almost impossible to shift since the engine RPMs don't come down following acceleration in each gear. I bring it up to 3000 in first and it just stays there. Ford and my dealer both say "that's life". I hate this car, wish I had never bought it. It has a 6CD stereo which will not load the CDs. Bob
great car
Great car. Extremely fun, very solid, excellent value
So much fun
The first car I owned was the 2002 Focus. it was a great car but I traded it in for my '05. An even better car. It has a smooth quiet ride. Wonderful pick up and no matter where I am driving I always seem to get looked at and comments about my car's charcter and style. I wouldnt trade it in for the world.
fun to drive
A fun to drive econobox. A sporty suspension, an engine with some spunk and all the amenities that make it as enjoyable to drive as my Miata.
