I have now had this ZTS 5 spd sedan since President's Day 2004 and it has 167,000 trouble free miles. The only part replaced was a passenger side engine mount and later on the pcv hose. Both repairs done by me. To top it off the car is till on it's original brake pads up front which are at 40% now. Go figure. Spotlessly clean and one of the most quick and nimble small cars I have ever driven. It loves curves while averaging 30 mpg as it is 90% freeway driven. Now at 183,000 and just fine.

One Look and Fell in Love

The vehicle handles wonderfully well. It took to the Pacific Coast Highway with agility I would not have expected for a car at it's price level. It also impressed me when driving through Flaming Gorge on the way to Las Vegas. I did not experience any loss of power while running the AC. In city traffic it is very responsive. The standard transmission could feel a little more solid -- there is a tiny bit of detectable "give." I haven't had any problems with it except that my first oil change had to be postponed due to the new oil filter not having saturated the market yet. A chrome Harley filter could have worked.. but... :-) The filter is amazingly accessible.

I bought this car brand new. I loved it every day since. It now has 141,000 miles. The only issues that I've had were minor, until recently. Heated seat (drivers) stopped working. Which Ford fixed. Link ends on struts keep coming loose. Makes a clunking noise. The transmission died at 130,000 miles (Covered by aftermarket warranty). I thought the Alternator died a few weeks ago. After spending 3 hours changing it. I come to find out it wasn't dead. Low voltage was caused by a blown inline fuse in the negative battery cable. All in all I am very happy with that car. So happy I just bought a 2012 focus. Let's hope it handles better in the snow then a 2004.

I have a Ford Focus ZTS 2004 2.3 cyl Sedan with moonroof in teal. pros gets pretty good miles on highway not a gas pit. Drives smooth and rather comfortable. Has an oversized trunk with let down seats can carry a lot. Electric windows and moonroof. Cons stock radio has cd and radio but there is no Bluetooth or any way to connect and listen to what you want which was a big down for me and anyone who likes to sing in the car lol but I live with it. last year my car just wouldn’t start after my step dad put a new battery in new starter and new ignition switch we found out I had to reprogram my car and get new keys which was expensive not fun!! But ever since then I’ve had no other issues with regular maintenance the car does hold up great. It’s one of the better looking Ford Focus as well.

Decent Car for the Money

Originally, I had wanted an SE, since I didn't really need all of the extra junk that the ZTS has. However, since it was the end of the model year I ended up getting a good deal on the ZTS. The 2.3L engine is quite peppy for a 4 cyl, and the car handles like a sports car that costs thousands more. The interior is quite comfy and can easily hold four people without much effort. The trunk is surprisingly large, probably due to the height of the back of the car. The styling of the car is okay I guess, but I am not much into that sort of thing. My only complaints are that the fuel mileage is very disappointing for a supposed economy car, and it seems like the exterior scratches easily.
