Used 2001 Ford Explorer Sport SUV Consumer Reviews
Been a good one so far
I recently bought my Explorer and so far it has been a very enjoyable experience. The vehicle is very dependable and fun to drive. I like the look of the vehicle and the interior design. My only complaint is the fuel economy. I average around 18.5 to 19 mpg. I would have liked to seen a little better gas mileage. Overall I would recommend this vehicle to anyone.
She was special, she found me.
I bought this truck in June of 2003, with 30000 mi. Since that time I have logged 155000 miles in it and was still going strong. I drove her on and off road. One of my favorites. I have changed the brakes twice, tires three times, one transmission and rebuilt the entire front end, including wheel bearings. Oil changed twice a year. Many great memories. Actually automatic 3speed w overdrive. By the way, bad wheel bearings can cause failure of the ABS anti-lock breaking system.

Owned used for 1 & 1/2 years - fun
I've owned for 18 months. It's been great to drive. Great for short camping trips. I've also driven it long distances with easy. It is a solid vehicle I don't ever have to worry about. Perfect vehicle for single or married w/o kids. CD Player is awesome. Backseat is hard for people to get into. DO NOT TOW WITH THIS VEHICLE! I towed a Mini Cooper on a full size trailer and burnt my brakes out. Quick and a great daily driver.
GOOD LOOKING TRUCK
Have not had the truck but a month, but like the looks of it. At times I wish I had of brought the 4 door due to the inconvenance of the back seat passanger. Additionally I hate the gas milage with a passion. All in all not a bad truck, and I say truck because thats what it rides like, a truck.
Fabulously Reliable
I bought my 2WD EX Sport 5 years ago with 70K miles. It now has 127,000. It has been a fabulously reliable vehicle-- but I do a lot of preventative maintenance on my vehicles. There are a few rattles and it rides a bit rough on bumpy roads. Only seats 4. The fabric seats look brand new. Excellent quality. Much lighter than a 4 door 4WD Explorer and is quite peppy. The silver painted finish on the console chips easily. I Average 18 MPG. 22 on the FWY. Idles a bit rough, but runs smoothly. Actually does pretty well in the snow for a 2 WD vehicle.
