Used 2001 Ford Explorer Sport SUV Consumer Reviews
2001 Explorer Sport
This thing rattles and squeaks like it's 30 years old. I previously owned a 98 Explorer Sport, which influenced my decision to purchase this vehicle. The 2001 has a more powerful engine and handles a little bit better, but every other part of this vehicle has made a turn for the worse.
bad handling
Doesn't seem to do well on snow and ice. Steering also seems tight.

Very happy!
This Explorer Sport is perfect. I drove a Geo Metro for 6 1/2 years before upgrading to a SUV. The price was right and fits my lifestyle to a tee. It has enough space for moving anything. It's just me and my wife, so the back seat isn't a concern. Our friends tell us its comfortable back there. The dealership had exactly what my wife and I wanted, including a bush guard already installed. Whomever leased this truck before us, a big thank you to you for keeping it is such great shape.
Sport
i love the way this truck drives. a/c is super cold. runs smooth. i would love to buy another explorer
Best Little SUV Ever
I've owned my 2001 Explorer sport since 2003 when I was in college. Since then I've clocked more than 100000 miles in it. Aside from a trip to the dealer for a bad air flow sensor she's been good to me. Never let me down, always started, still runs like a champ. I love the interior layout, while small I always seem to find room for what I'm hauling when I lay the seats flat. Sadly I will soon have to part with her as I'm about to have a baby and will need to upgrade to another Explorer (this time the sport trac) to have 4 doors to fit the baby.
