Just bought the 2013 at Edmunds FMV. Very nice machine. Trip MPG is 47-48 if you stay at or bellow 65 MPH. If you drive with a bit of finesse and use the little cruise guide on the display on the left in city and cruise control on the highway you'll get very close or better to the advertised MPG. It does take a little practice to get comfy with the infotainment but practice makes perfect and only a bit more complex than my GM Saturn vue. If you do lead foot it you'll be surprised. Brilliant automotive engineering by Ford!

If I lived in a warm climate I would give this car rave reviews. In a cold climate, not so much. It has been reliable but the mileage and electric range in the winter are so much worse than in the summer, about half as good. Also, one of the big selling points to me was that I could set a departure time using my cell phone, and it would have the cabin at a comfy temperature using wall current by the time I left. Maybe that works on 220 volts, but on 110 it starts warming or cooling about 45 minutes before departure and never does get the cabin comfortable, and it does drain the battery somewhat. Also, the turning radius is absurdly bad. In hybrid mode I get about 36 mpg. After driving a Prius, that stinks. I will say, however, that I loved driving in electric mode while it lasted. It is quiet, quick, and non-polluting. Bottom line, I didn't buy out my lease when it expired. I bought a Prius. I just couldn't convince myself that the plug-in thing was worth the hassle and cost when the aggregate mileage (electric plus hybrid) wasn't much better than what I could get with a Prius with no plug in. Also, the Prius can haul more, costs less, and has much better resale value. Many reviews said the C-Max was unreliable, although that wasn't my experience. I had not problems at all in that regard.

So Far So Good

It's been almost a month with 1600 miles. I'm doing 42 mpg and live in a hilly area. I've notice that when I drive "with" the car instead driving like my old cars (heavy footed) MPG increased. When the battery activates, I go gentle on the peddle to avoid using gas. I'm enjoying the car very much. I'm hoping the technology will last. I only gave a "3" for reliability. Too soon to say. The only complaint so far is the isync. They can't understand my voice yet. It keeps wanting me to go to Newark whenever I say a town with an N. I don't care for the navigator but it'll take time to get use to. MPG will improve if u go easy on the peddle. :)

Why Such A Poor Rating from CR?

I hate the design of the wheels. Ford could better on the wheel choice and replace the bar grill with something more sporty. But...... Ford needs to change the bolt pattern to match the Mustang. I think the car is great; I love the seats, and the sitting position. I want these seat in my 2012 Focus. My C-mac is used in business - sometimes 100 miles per day, bought in Sept 12, it has 24K miles on it. Daily mileage is 43-45. Road trip - milesage under 60 is 44 mpg; over 65 38 mpg. The location of the air filter sucks - it took 41 minutes to change it and I had to remove that large piece of plastic. If you don't know cars, you have to take it to the dealer.
