Car is a looker, that is the only upside. Reading other consumer reviews it seems I may have the only crappy dodge stratus. Ok, here we go. Transmission jerks for some mysterious reason, ALOT of electrical issues (interior lights, blinking head lights, faint turning signals, horn loves to go out, fluctuating gas hand, radio and clock resets when I turn the car off then back on), bumper sits too low therefore it oftens hits while going over dips and speed bumps even when speed is low. 3.0 engine sounds good but doesn't accelerate all that well, and parts are expensive. I plan to sell car or salvage parts and get a NON AMERICAN CAR. Sorry USA.

Comfortable, slick and good looking. Lots of features standard and the stereo sounds great. The only problem is some clutch chatter when cold on chilly days and sporatic rattles. Controls are well laid out and logical. The only thing I would change is the cruise control needs lighting for night use. Would look better if it came with wider tires and not so much gap between the fender wells and the tires.

On my way to buying another Mustang GT I stopped at the local Dodge dealer to test drive the Stratus SE 3.0. matched everything about the Mustang except the price which was considerably lower. This car is really fun to drive and at 50 I need all the fun I could get.

I bought my 2001 Stratus after my boss bought her 2002. I happened upon it at a Ford Dealer and got a great deal. I don't see a lot of these on the road which I find strange. Why buy the Mitsu Eclipse which is smaller and, in my opinion, not as nice lookin' for more $$??? Anyway, the way the car drives is phenomenal and so are the looks you get driving it. The Infinity sound system is the best I have heard. I have always been into coupes and this one is by far the best I have driven.

Problems with loose electrical connections. Odd braking noises in hot weather and stop & go traffic. Occassional rattles in the dash as well. Wheel caps keep falling off as well. Otherwise I nice little overpriced car. Do NOT buy one at New Car prices.

I have owned my RT for 6 months, never any problems. I purchased a large aluminum spoiler, to hold the car down at fast speeds, and a Tenzo exhaust, sounds great. Turns a lot of heads, speakers are incredible. Back seat actually fits an average sized adult! still a bit tight though. If you want a car that will turn heads, pass with no problem, and do highway driving, its great. Long trips get cramped and tired easy. Gas is terrible in the city. Very good in snow, never a problem and I am in new england! Tons of standard features, and great value for the money. BUT the resale value is the worst in the industry, so be careful if you want to sell it in the future you may loose a lot of cash.

After driving 22,000 miles with it, I can say that I am still very satisfied with the Stratus 2-dr SE. I have had no problems other than a few new rattles with the plastic interior. It still runs great after all this time and have not regretted the purchase. The price paid was 13,995 and was definitely worth it, especially with the great warranty.

This is a powerful car. It changes word "merge" from a request to a command! I have gotten 35 MPG on road trips which is just amazing. It gets a solid 24 in everyday city driving. You really have to read the owner's manual completely because there are so many selections on the options. Especially learn how to set the compass to the area you drive in--even the dealer(s) don't seem to know this.

What attracted me to the Stratus Coupe was first the styling, then I really couldnt believe the price. A fully loaded 200hp coupe for 20grand, not bad. Much better styled than the Monte Carlo. Build quality could be better, sometimes can hear rattles in back and in the dash. 3.0 V6 is a gem, very smooth, however max torque isnt achieved until higher in the revs, so if you drive like me, you are frequently in the 4-5rpm range. Overall a very good buy.

...and I still love this car. Only flaws so far-I'm still having to replace or turn rotors every 7,000 miles or so, and they squeak inbetween the whole time. Definitely a bummer given that the car is such a head- turner. Also, my EGR valve went shortly after the 3 year factory warranty was up, and extended warranty doesn't cover any vehicle emissions equipment. Cosmetically, the paint has held up great (but then I really baby it) except the door handles look faded and the chrome-like finish is peeling off some of the letters. I also started hearing a "sproing" like noise around 20,000 miles when I first start the car and put it in drive and dealer can't find source of problem.

This car is a great car. It has a sleek style and it is fun to drive. I feel safe driving in it and very comfortable. Even though it isn't exactly a family sedan it offers extra safety features for car seats and individual cup holders and reading lamps. The power mirrors and cd and cassette feature is very nice!

Do not buy this car. My AC went out after 3 years and it was no minor problem -- it was a $2,700 problem. Also had to completely replace my brakes and one part unique to the coupe was hard to find. The shop had to special order it and I was without a car for a week.

This car is by far the best sports car I've driven. With 200hp and 205lb torque, you can't go wrong. Taking off each time is like cake walk. Put the car in 3rd gear, and at 1500rpm, it takes off easy! Again the torque is amazing. The tires are very sticky. Suspension is perfect. I recommend the 5 speed manual trans. The inside is like a cockpit of a plane. It's also very low to the ground, but that's the whole point. This car's power band is 100% perfect as well, as there is no lag whatsoever. Overall, it's worth it if you like to go fast. It's not as small as a Honda Civic, but it kicks the crap out of it! I recommend that you buy this car!

Excellent car. The 200 horsepower and 205 ft-lbs of torque make it particularly fun to drive. Nice thing about the engine and transmission is that you don't have to wait for the power to kick in like other vehicles.

If you want the features and performance of a $30,000 car for $20,000 this is the way to go. I travel approx. 30,000 miles a year (all city) and have a total of 107,000 miles on the car with no problems at all to date. The only bicker I have with the car is a lot of rattling comming from the cabin. But I quess that is expected from a 100,000 mile car. The gas mileage could be a little better. Have the 4-speed Auto and still shifts and performs like I just drove it off the lot.

I fell in love with the styling of this car the first time I laid eyes on it. At the time we were out shopping for a car for my son and they were new. Seven month later I got one during an end of month sale. Being disappointed with the durabilitity of our four cylinder cars, I insisted on a 6 cylinder and was rewarded with Dodges 200 HP base 6 that ALWAYS averages between 23 and 27 miles per gallon. You can't beat power to burn and fuel economy! I am tall (6' 1"+) and did need to get the power driver seat to increase the headroom clearance and it does the trick.

THE A/C is weak the CD player skips and all this before 36,000 miles can you belive this. Very poor quality and I thoght I was getting a deal on a fully loaded R/T Coupe (just headache)

I've enjoyed this car so far. Good performance, good gas mileage. Very comfortable on long trips; it drives smoothly and has no trouble at all with interstate on-ramps or passing. Haven't had to have any work done on it. Only downside is the 205/55R16 tires, which could be expensive depending on where you go. (I had the OEM Goodyears put on and it was over $400. Other than that, great car.

I purchased this car about 2 years ago with 65K miles on it. Now it has 84K miles on it and nothing but problems. I started having weird engine noises and I took the vehicle in right away. After having regular oil changes and receipts for proof...my problem was that I needed a new engine at a cost of $6K which my extended warranty declined. The problem was due to engine sludge which is a common and known problem with Dodge and Chrysler vehicles with the 2.7L engine. I found this out after the fact by doing a lot of research on the internet. Chrysler does not care. Beware and do your homework. I will be dumping this junk very very soon. Not to mention taking a huge loss in dollars.

Love Dodge styling overall and have owned several Dodges over the years. Had a 6cyl 2001 Stratus ES for almost a year but experienced constant overheating problem, steering problems, and ball joint replacements. This was a "certified" used car from a Dodge dealership. Had a 98 ES also with almost no problems in aver 75K miles but this one was a bust. Also had two Caravans which experienced ATX problems and various brake and lesser interior fit and finish issues... going to Toyota and Honda... mmmm...but must resist Dodge nice styling and innovative features (Charger/Magnum/300...etc)

Yes that's correct, I think I love my car a little too much. I don't know what I like best about my Stratus R/T but a few of my favorite things are the handling, the ability to accelerate in traffic, the feeling of being "attatched" to the road via the low profile tires and stiff suspension, the leather seats and the stock "Infinity" 4 disc changer. Love the looks of the car and the way I've seen people stop and take a gander at it. What can I say, I'm in love.

Going from an SUV to the Dodge has been a delight. What an absolutely fun car to drive. Talk about a head turner-- from the wheels, to the sun roof to the stereo system. A value priced car for the options. I have not had to go back to the dealership for any service other than routine oil change and tire rotatation. I may have to keep this car for a while--simply because I enjoy it. I have the five speed and love the sport suspension.

I've had my 2-Dr. Stratus SE for almost 2 years and I haven't had one problem. I drive all over the state for my job (in MN). It handles great in snow. The 200 hp V6 is a beauty weaving in-n- out of freeway traffic (I swear it has more gusto than the V8's I owned in high school). Handles corners like a dream. Stylish interior & exterior and a roomy trunk are a huge plus. Fairly easy to get a kid in-n-out of the backseat. Also, probably the best stock stereo I've ever heard. Overall, a solid, dependable and extremely fun car to drive & own. I couldn't be happier.

This car has been awesome. Bought it 8 years ago with 99,000 miles. It now has 186,00 miles on. Unfortunately, it is now hit the end of the road. Motor and tranny are still strong, but as a northern car previously, it is rusting out. Sad to see it go. Love this car. It has been so reliable. Very little maintenance. Replaced the rear brake calibers and emergency brake cable after we got it. That was the most work we put into it. Will probably replace it with another Stratus.

I have had three of these cars in both manual and automatic. These R/T coupes are made in the USA by Mitsubishi and are pretty much the same as the eclipse. I haven't a bad thing to say about them. They are fast, get really good mileage and handle well-especially with some simple modifications; urethane bushings and end links and a reinforcement bar from shock tower to shock tower. The engine is a bit difficult to tear down, but I managed to do the head gaskets on one that I had. If you are thinking about getting one, do it. Lots of fun.

Well, thought i would do my in-laws a favor and buy my mother-in-laws 2001 Stratus when she was no longer able to drive. It had less than 50K miles on it but had been sitting for a bit. I drove it for two weeks and the transmission went out. Replaced the transmission because, heck, it was cheaper than buying a new car. First mistake. There were others after that. Many others. I think my FAVORITE feature of the car was that it would auto-lock at inconvenient times, including once when i was getting gas and the keys were in the ignition. I just donated it to charity with 155,377 miles on it . . . and the heater stuck on "high" . . . good riddance!!
