I have this truck with the inline 6 diesel engine in it. All i have to say is this truck can tow what other trucks cant!. the maximum trailer weight rating for this truck is 17,500lbs, i currently tow a 50 foot Featherlite 5th wheel trailer with my truck and it weighs 21,500lbs full. i put on over 100000 miles on my truck a year driving from ontario to texas to race what i got in the trailer. this truck had almost a million miles on it and it has the original engine/ tranny! and it pulls the trailer (I find) effortlessly on the highwy with my 6 speed manual. BUY A CUMMINS DIESEL

I think that I paid too much for the truck, but it has been a good performer and after I put taller rear ends in (3.54)< I began getting 20 miles per gallon. This is better than my wife gets with her Jeep GC Limited.

I will never spend that much money and time on another dodge car, truck or anything that says dodge, etc.I have replaced injectors 6 times and the factory kept sending bad ones to the shop I spent 2500.00 on a new transmission and the turbo has gone out again all of the little gadgets(seat handles, etc)have fallin off or broke and now I cant trade it cause I will be 6,000 dollars upside down.

I highly recommend this truck. I bought mine brand new from the factory. It is a dually and it gets 19 miles to the gal. of diesel. The only thing that is bad is it has no weight in the rear end unless you are towing, which it is a great tower. It tows a 32' fifth wheel trailer with no problem.

I have always been a Ford guy,but when I went to buy a new Ford they would not deal,so I seen this Dodge in this dealership and checked it out.I bought it right on the spot, this is by far the best truck I have ever had,and I have owned 15 trucks.. Simply the best truck on the road, the 5.9 Cummins makes the whole package great..

In stock form it was a slug. Add injectors and a turbo and you have a fun to drive truck. MPG 16 to 20 empty. 12 to 15 towing. Auto trannys need to be upgraded with power upgrades.

I pull multi-horse trailer when the truck rolls. I could not be more pleased with the power and fuel economy. It has never failed to start and run well. The secret is doing the maint. ON TIME. Keep the fuel filter changed ON TIME abd you will be happy.

Since I purchased it in 1995 no repairs has been done. Gas mileage has not been excellent, but I have the V10 model.

We live in Nebraska and pull a fifth wheel trailer. Did not want a 4WD because of height of truck. Could not get 2 wheel drive locally! Had to go all the way to Florida to find one!! Love this truck. It is fully loaded with leather seats, diesel, and really neat overhead console. Shows compass, outside temp, mpg, miles to go before refill needed. A man and his truck is a beautifull thing!!!

This truck has worked very well for me. I am a contractor so I use my truck every day. My mileage is about 11.00 with the V10 gas engine but its worth it when I am towing. I will definately buy another Dodge

Outstanding Truck

This has been by far the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. At 125K miles there have been zero mechanical failures. The Cummins diesel is a joy to drive, smooth and powerful with excellent fuel economy - 20+ mpg on highway, 15 mpg carrying a very large truck camper. It pulls large trailers like a breeze. The truck is mechanically still like new. The split bench seats with the fold- down console are extremely comfortable, it is far more pleasurable to drive on a long trip than our similar 2001 Ford F-250 with captain's chairs. The only problem I have had so far is cosmetic, the paint is beginning to pimple and crack from Dodge's poor primer system.

I have put over 170,000 miles on this truck since buying it in Sept '05. It's a true working man freind. I make my living hauling boats( loaded on a 53ft trailer) and this ol truck does an awesome job. Pulling power is good (I've just now decided to turn it up) and the fuel mileage is excellent. I went for a 4 wheel drive model because of towing (I run the 48 states plus all of Canada), it has excellant road manners in bad weather.

I have a Reg cab 2wd 3500 dually diesel with an Auto. I Have 178k miles on her and I just rebuilt the Tranny and had a mild upgrade done to it. I added 4" exhaust and a cold air filter other than that its stock. The truck fires right up in a split second. I had to replace the steering box...at 170k...no biggie...for the most part it been a great truck. the dash cracks as everyone knows... Yes I would get another one!

Not your 12 valve diesel

The 24 valve diesel is underpowered and prone to very costly repairs due to the fuel pump problems. I have had to replace 5 lift pumps and two injector pumps. At both times Dodge stated that this was fixed. Only after I did some aftermarket add ons did the dead pump syndrone stop. The truck needs several improvements to be reliable. Lift pump repacement, bigger fuel lines, etc. And why is it so loud with so little power?

I'd like to point out this article is flawed from the jump. There was no 5.9L turbodiesel V8. I have the 5.9L turbodiesel, 12 Valve Cummins. It's a straight 6. That being said, it's well beyond 300,000 miles and has yet to be rebuilt. It's down for a clutch right now but even just sitting there it's a sight to behold. Damn I love my truck!

I stepped up from a '96 1500. I was needed the additional hauling capacity as I have 32' trailer I use to haul 5 horses. I've hauled it from Greensboro, NC to Chicago, IL and back on a three day trip with no hassles. The Cummins TurboDeisel handled the mountains of WV without dropping from the posted speeds. The cab is well designed with all controls w/in easy reach.

I bought this truck to tow a fully loaded 34-foot fifth wheel camper in the Appalachia Mountians and she is a willing partner. The Low Range and 4wd make it possible to get the camper in almost anywhere. The 12 valve Cummings Turbo Diesel sounds like a big rig and when matched with the 5 speed manual transmission, you can putt down the highway at low rpms. 3rd gear will climb any highway mountain at 45 mph at full tow. A good contractors cap keeps the ride less bouncy when not runnig with loads. Diesel Fuel costs can swing more than gas. But if you need to tow heavy things, this is a hard truck to beat.

I use this truck for my farming and I tell you the Ram 3500 never let me down. I have a 5 speed manual transmision with 4 wheel drive. I elected to have the V10 engine and it's a monster. Very please with my truck selection and being a old time Dodge man for over 58 years, The Dodge 3500 V10 4x4 is a workhorse always ready to delivery the job task.

I bought a Ram 3500 4x4 diesel and put a utility bed, Mile Marker winch and a complete Banks system on it new. Now 24 years and 256,000 miles later I still love it and planed to keep it. I pull heavy and drive hard. It has gone through 6 automatics and 1 injector pump and only gets about 15 mpg but it will pull 30,000 and run with the best. However in 10/24 I hit a rock wall and totaled it. Even then we came out with only minor injuries thanks to its strength.
