1999 Dodge Ram Sport
I bought this truck with 110,000 miles, and whoever owned it before me neglected it like no other. After about $1500 in parts and labor, I can honestly say I wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm 24 and have had 17 trucks since I've been 17. Yeah, the gas mileage stinks, but what do expect when a truck is modeled after a big rig? These trucks weren't made to be espically comfortable either, they were built to get the job done. I cant remember any other half ton truck that came with a solid front axle in 99.

Brakes need improvement (model w/o anti-lock). Good pickup, reliable, dependable...good value.

My experience
I bought my truck new and used it in my construction business. I never (!) had a problem in 76,000 miles of Alaskan driving. No squeaks, leaks, mechanical problems, or anything else. But I sadly sold it when I retired and moved overseas....cheap living now. I have owned 5 Dodge trucks and have been more than satisfied. But the gas mileage stinks.
Mopar or No Car!
Bought my '99 Ram 1500 a little over 7 years ago. First time ever buying "my own" rig, knew what I wanted - searched a couple of impatient months to find it. Got my Mopar with 116k on the odometer, 5.9L upgrade, lift, flat satin black single cab BEAST! Hands down best purchase I've ever made, period! In the last 7 years, I blew apart my rear u-joint at 70+ mph down the highway - it actually flew past my driver window, rear drive line landed on my rear axle after a bit of bouncing around. Threw it right back in same day with a new u-joint, never even had to balance the drive line. Also replaced the auto trans (it's expected at some point with a Mopar, common knowledge) with a custom pink remanufactured trans that will now outlast the engine I'm sure, lol.) Only two problems in 7 years, and I'm not nice to my truck - besides routine maintenance that is. The best part..? The looks on the guys' faces as I pass them by and they see the neon pink biohazard stickers on each side of my back window and realize they just got passed by a girl! M.o.p.a.r = Move Over People Are Racing!!! Yes it's my Dodge, NO you can't drive it!!

No Lag and No Rag
I just bought a 1999 Dodge V8 Magnum 1500 4x4 Lariam Single Cab with 126,500 miles on it and it turns up without any hesitation.Has a minor oil leak on the Rear Main Seal but also has the Power/Torque to burn the new 32 1/2 inch Mud Tires off of it.The front dash is cracked a little and there are some exterior issues (such as scratches, dings, and some sag in front bumper) but I'm not trying to impress anyone with the looks of my truck, just the toughness.

You get what you pay for
This truck has left me stranded more than any other vehicle i have ever owned. The transmission went out at 94,000 miles. I have also had a lot of electrical problems which left me on the side of the road, but once i got these problems worked out it actually isn't that bad of a vehicle. It has plenty of power for towing.(I use it to tow my 86 mustang). The dash is HORRIBLE. This thing cracked in so many different places and has HUGE holes in them.
First American Truck!
Though I've only had it for a few day's -Love it !! Great to have V8 power again!! Haven't had a V8 since I sold my old '69 Firebird. I didn't realize how much I missed it. So nice not to have people passing you going up in to the mountains, like your standing still.
Great Truck
Purchased new, no problems, except brakes needed replacement at 40,000 miles, now need it again at 75000. The fuel ecomony is not great but average for a full size truck, plenty of power to tow a 6000 boat.
Not bad
I bought this truck used in 2004 with about 49k on it. It's been a decent truck, but has no creature comforts at all, if that's important to you. It has decent power, but the suspension is pretty stiff, and I had to replace a head gasket. All in all, I'm not sure I would buy another Dodge.
The big Dodge
I have bought this truck for my dad, ever since I took it home my father babied it waxed it even after his 2 heart attacks ..my father loved his Dodge, that’s why we still have the truck.

Great pickup
I was the second owner of my 1999 1500, 2WD. It was "Plain Jane", had the V6, 5 speed, no frills (crank windows, etc.), 78k miles. Nine years later, I sold the truck with 288k on her. Replaced clutch at 185k; clutch looked good, throughout bearing was shredded. Replaced shocks just after clutch. Between 200k and 250k, replaced tie rod ends, water pump, oxygen sensor and idle control valve. AC was re-charged 2x, no system parts replaced. Rotors turned and new pads twice. Rear brakes were only cleaned and adjusted. Never touched the starter, alternator, or exhaust system. Completed fluid changes and routine maintenance over the years. An after-market stereo was in place when I purchased the pickup. Added a hitch, only occasional light towing duty (landscape trailer with yard waste). I added a dash mat protector early, no trouble with dash cracking that others have experienced. Very pleased with the '99 Dodge Ram 1500.
