Purchased new in 94, have put over 110,000 miles and still running well. Only major problems: (a) 3 evaporator coil failings in first 5 years - however, dodge/dealer handled these well (at no charge) and have not had the problem in last 4 years; and (b) major PCM (main computer) problem that dealer repaired without charge despite being beyond warranty. Engine and tranny have been great - key is to service tranny on schedule at mopar dealer. Even after 9 years, still get compliments on how good the car looks.

We bought this car a year ago and fell in love with it. It's roomy and fun to drive. Had a few minor repairs but what do you expect with 128,000 miles? Overall not the best car I've ever had but I would not be afraid to buy another one

Transmission cooling problem around 60000 miles, most of the a/c has been replaced (half in extended warranty), a/c still doesn't work. lots of brake replacements, lots of headlight replacements. Think Dodge supplement their income with selling necc. parts. Funny rattle in steering took a while to find. Currently at 125,000. Suprised I had to replace rear engine mount and outer tie-rod ends. But car is still going strong. I've had it since 1998 (& 50000 miles), with really no major problems since then, plenty of minor. Definately had to be a home-mechanic with this car. Selling garage had to put new shocks on at 50000 miles.

A truely awfule car. Bought the car at 72,000 miles. In 30,000 miles I had to have the following replaced or rebuilt: Engine, transmition-twice, starter- three times, cam berrings, inner tie rods-twice, AC-three times. Paint is peeling and the gas mileage is terrible. Instead of having a car free of worry, I drove around with a sick fear of what was going to happen next. I will never, never, never buy a Dodge again. Kelly Blue Book value of my '94 Dodge Intrepid? $223. Horrible

Love my 94 Intrepid

I bought my 94 Intrepid new, have had it 11 yrs. I've kept it properly maintained, with tune ups, etc. When mileage became higher, I routinely had the oil changed with a new oil filter every 3,000 miles. I have purchased new tires 3 times, had some transmission and air conditioning work done about 3 different times. Considering the car currently has 121,000 miles, maintainence does not seem unreasonable over an 11 year period. I still drive around town, and on the freeway in southern California. I've had 6ft plus rear seat passengers amazed at the room and comfort. I plan to sell soon, and was surprised at the unhappiness I read from other owners.

My mother originally bought the car in 01/98 for $7300 from a guy in Chicago. Top of the line stuff was added its whole life. I got the car in 06/99 as a gift. The car had 120,000 miles on it. Now as of 04/06, 288,350 miles on original engine and tranny. Body is rough due to the people I trusted. Rust is minium considering it was from Indiana. Overall, wonderful car

My Intrepid has 319,000km or 198,000 miles on the original drive train. Does not use oil between changes and still averages 10 litres /100km or almost 30mpg. Easy to work on and the dealer has been very helpful with the few problems encountered. Original owner.

Bought this car in 1996 with 36,000. Purchased extended warranty. Had transmission issue in '98, covered 100% by warranty! Have had no other issues! Never had a day when the car didn't start (gets cold here in winter) When I purchased needed reliable car..single mom 3 kids. My youngest were 5. They are now 16 and learning to drive. Guess what they're driving? The intrepid! 175000 miles, a year in storage, and still going strong!

I bought this car from a old guy. It looked Nice. The owner saTransmission, engine, everything under hood, and gas mileage id its good works fine. My dad said don't buy it. 2 months later my transmission broke. 10 days later my engine stopped working and my reverse never stopped. Every 10 days it was with my mechanic. Now the check engine light is always on. It runs like a piece of junk. I tried clunking it but wasn't excepted. Don't buy it

I too have had air conditioning troubles but consider that to be a minor problem. I have now more then 180000 miles on the car and it still runs extremely well. The body is holding together very well considering the car has seen a lot of gravel road. Excepting routine maintainance (oil changes, tires, windshields, timing belts and brakes) the car has cost well under .01 cents per mile to keep it running.

Dodge has a knack for making cool fun to drive cars that excel in comfort and power. The Intrepid is all of these. Dodge also has reliability issues. The Intrepid follows those lines. I've experienced air conditioner, as well as transmission problems. I drive a lot and have never broke down in a bad spot, she always wears down before she breaks. I wouldn't recomend this car after the 100,000 mile mark as this is when my real problems began and 14,000 miles later they continue to mount. I say make a choice of comfort V. quality on the Intrepid.

I bought this vehicle from my uncle. I've only owned it for a month now but it has been a great car to drive in. The A/C is a problem but I try not to concentrate on that. I like the pick of the V6 engine because i have been use to 4 cyclinders. It is a fun car to drive in but I don't like the headlights. They are dahl and yellow and thats the only thing i don't like about the whole car but other than that i am happy i bought it,

I bought this in 2000 with just over 100K on it. Only external flaws were light hail damage and faded paint where a cell phone antenna used to be. Eventually, the faded spot spread from the elements, but no lower body rust at all. Living in Minnesota with the ice and salt on roads in winter, it's held up well. I've put mostly short trips on it, and it always starts and runs, except once. Battery was old and died. Only had that replaced, one water pump and one starter in 9 years. Tires of course. For having been over 100K when I bought it, 9 years of driving and only put that much into it is great! Idle is rough sometimes now, so may need to have it looked at, but can't complain.

I bought my 1994 base in 1998 with 87,000 km on it. The car now has 485,000 km. The a/c still works and so does pretty much everything else. There is a short in the rear defogger. I had a tranny problem in 2002 and had it rebuilt for $2,500. Still works great. Only thing I don't like is the lack of head room and I'm only 6 feet and not the best mileage. Looking for a small 4 cyl but intend to keep the Intrepid. Oh, never had to change the exhaust system and I never get stuck in the snow and I only use all-season tires. Rear springs done about 2 years ago.

Bought this in July, 08 with 80K miles because it was seemed to be a good value. The climate control unit had some glitches I soon discovered and soon stopped working. Had a couple mechanics do some diagnosis and we've not come up with answers except it's not the control head, min. $200 for a good diagnosis and at least another $150 to fix. I was doing a lot of mountain driving at the time, so when my water pump failed it quickly overheated and developed a head gasket leak, est. repair cost is $500 - $1500. Starter is failing now too, so it's time for my clean, good looking 95K mile Intrepid to be turned in because the cost to repair it all is higher than the value of the car.

I have owned this car for about 4 years and have loved it. I placed a spoiler on the rear end which helps to offset the awkward appearence that the front end is much lower than the rear. I currently drive the car on highway construction and it has held up better than expected. It amazingly can drive through some rough land. However, it is starting to develop a rattling in the rear end, though I suspect this would not happen with normal use. A very tough car.

I love my intrepid, which I have had since new. It is problematic, though, since it is not reliable, or well built. It is on its 4th stereo, third tranny, third set of front suspension, has expensive front headlights that break in their mounts every year, a/c quit, totally, and needs $1300 repair, leather seats worn through, abs and traction control sensor shot, gas gauge erratic, ignition switch replaced, starter motor rebuilt, aluminum wheels corrode, body rattles, windshield wipers don't wipe the glass, seals around doors don't seal anything. This car looks great, but costs a fortune to own. Give me a Toyota Corolla any day!

I purchased new from the dealer lot. The air conditioner has never worked from the first day. I've had it back to different dealers every summer since and no one can find out what's wrong with it. Had transmission problems after the first year and at 45,000 was told that I needed a new one. Starter died the third year. Fixed with after- market parts. Every time I brought the car in for service, something else came back broke. Brought it in for a broken headlight, hood release came back broke. Brought it in for brakes, passenger window wouldn't go down. Brought it in for air conditioner (again and again), low-fuel light won't go off.

Off to a bad start with transmission replacments. We love the car. 30mpg on hwy. 207,000 currently. We now have this car dealer serviced. It's paid for;has good trans. now, new steering rack.Headlight design dreadful-replaced with newly designed ($$$). Maintain this car like you should any car and you WILL get 250000+ miles out of it.NOTE: Mopar parts are best for this car. Go the cheap route and you'll regret it - but there is nothing wrong with that. Dealer knows the car intimately (gave us some free svc at 200K.

Started having quite a few problems with it after about 100k miles - A/C would only work at certain times (never could figure it out), as well as quite a few other things. Poor paint job - it was actually tan, but would show up sort of purple at night. Kind of neat, but it started flaking off. Had cooling problems with it as well.

My '94 Dodge Intrepid is fun to drive and comfortable. I've owned it for two years and the only problems I've had was that the drums stick or a spring in the drum brakes breaks but I like the disc. It hugs the road very well. It has 164,000 miles and it still runs good plus its 3.3L is easier to work on than the 3.5L the my father has in his 1993 Eagle Vision the he has had cooling problems with. If you want a good car that will be there and that is good in snow, get an Intrepid.

Love(d) driving this car but it is putting me in debt with the expensive repairs. Air conditioning went at around 75k, transmission went at 78k and cost me $2,000 to repair, paints chipping, logo's falling off, water pump went, suspension is shot, alternator went, road noise is terrible, and the heating/air makes an irritating buzzing noise everytime I start the car. I am finally going to put it to rest since my transmission has again died. It's a beautiful car and rides nice(when it rides), but unreliable at best.

Bought car new for my wife's 25th aniversary. Loaded, really a nice car, right up to when the transmission came unglued at just under 55K. Dodge wouldn't touch it as the warrenty had expired. Dealer said it would cost about $3K to fix and take 4-6 weeks. Too many plastic parts (to save weight?) Basically, I traded it in on a new Ford for what I still owed on it.

Bought this car off a mechanic's lot with 96,000 mi. for $1,900. After owning it for two weeks, the "anti-theft system" (which in this case causes the steering wheel to lock up unless the [proper] key is inserted into the ignition) went ahead and locked up the steering wheel even though I was indeed trying to start the car with it's own key. Had to take the car back to the mechanic, who removed the "anti-theft system" for about $300. My faith being shaken, I began to prepare for the worst, but (so far) the car has given me no problems since. I find acceleration with the 3.3 to be sluggish, although the car does handle well for its size.

I bought this car from an individual. I paid just $500. I found the acceleration with the 3.3 to be more than ample. The drivetrain is good for the engine, and shifted smooth. Even though the car has never left me stranded, I have poured quite the sum of money into it. When I bought it, it needed brakes. That's maintanence. After driving it for a month, the inner and outer tie rod ends on the driver's side are going bad. Map, and O2 sensors went bad. The rear transmission mount is broke. The downshift linkage in the transmission is sticking. Dodge did a horrible job on fit and finish. Same old Same old.

(in the snow and rain ..even) ..and..oh yeah .. Mash the MOFO'ing GO pedal ..and the beast goes..(crushing any cute little honda\toyota\mazda\tofu eating v4 car you'd care to name).... All the fun stops/runs out/becomes a little spooky.. around 112/118 mph on the stock set up ..depending on the condition of the car. Staying on top of the recalls is/was mandatory..all work done on mine was under warranty ..currently 100,000 miles..with all recall work done...runs great

The paint has been coming off of my Dodge Intrepid since it was 3 years old. This car has been garage kept most of it life. I have had transmission problems, steering problems, overheating problems, and A/C problems. The hood has never stayed up by itself and the hub caps came off until they were replaced with Intrepid wheels. The A/C vents and the cup holders were a really bad design. All of this happen before it got to 100000 miles. The one good thing I can say is that at 14700 miles it is still going down the road.

Don't even consider it, dodge has long history of unreliable cars and trucks, this one's no exception, I bought mine used with 30k miles before 60k miles problems with, ac, trans, engine, paint, headliner ect...headlight mounts broke, too much plastic used on everything, had some friends at dodge dealer, they hated this car, from sales to the mechanics, I got rid of this car after 1 year of ownership a long tome ago, stay away from this one and any other dodge/chrysler/plymouth unless it's from the 1960's
