Quiet, smooth, powerful even with the v6 and head turner with gloss black 20s and reactor blue pearl coat. Sport mode will have you in the fast lane passing others in seconds. More options on the touchscreen than you can image. Totally impressed as I'm not historically a dodge guy. Bought this for all the above ... not as big as full size suv but darn close. Right, she'll suck some fuel if you get into the 295 horses. Amazing get up for only 295 hp. Pleasure to drive all the way around.

Dodge Durango technology falls short

Bought a new Durango R/T in late March 2021. Had it back to the dealership 3 times in two weeks for service right after I took delivery of it. The new Uconnect 5c 10.1 inch infotainment system is full of glitches and flaws. The first issue was lights inside the vehicle would not power down which ran the battery dead. Took it back to the dealership and they had to do a full reset on the infotainment head unit to get the system/interior lights to power down properly. Took it back the next week two different times for more issues related to the Uconnect system. No traffic and weather available from the new TomTom navigation system, no way to set up driver profiles, multiple issues in the system saving settings for the radio, apple car play, and bluetooth. Dodge and FCA have no sense of urgency to get the system fixed. They say it requires a software update to fix the multitude of issues, but they cannot/will not say when the software update will be available. They first said it would be available in the first quarter of 2021, then said it would be available in the second quarter of 2021, and now they are saying sometime this year. I cannot believe that FCA would put this infotainment system on the market with their vehicles without first testing and fixing all the flaws. Very disappointing. Should have bought a Japanese or Korean vehicle with more reliability and attention to quality detail.

My 2021Durango R/T

***Update: 24,300 miles, 32 mos of ownership and Durango still trouble free. Also averaging 20 mpg hwy at speed of 70 to 75 mph. ++Update: 17,000 miles, 20 months of ownership and Durango is still problem free. The Sirius was finally reloved.** Wanted an SUV with ample towing capacity. The Durango R/T is in a class by itself. I purchased a new 2021 model in Jan 2022. In addition to being able to tow my Polaris Ranger UTV, this vehicle is just fun to drive. I love the fact that Dodge kept actual buttons to control climate and media/radio instead of everything being thru the Uconnect System. I'm hoping that non-towing gas mileage improves a couple of mpg better than the combined 15 mpg I'm currently getting. I've only driven 7,000 miles during 8 months of ownership. So far the only thing that has not worked is Sirius Vehicle Condition Report that is to be each month. A case is open for the this problem that Sirius can't resolve. They had me go to the dealer a couple of times but problem still not resolved. This is not a deal killer for me as long as the Durango cranks and runs without any problems.

Power tailgate metal split!!

EXTREMELY upset customer, 02/02/2022
2021 Dodge Durango GT 4dr SUV (3.6L 6cyl 8A)
20 of 25 people found this review helpful

Bought a brand new 2021. Just shy of a year, we noticed what we thought was a scratch on the interior of the power tailgate; however, it was discovered the metal had actually split! The vehicle has not been in any accidents and or sustained any major impacts to the tailgate. We took the vehicle to the dealership we purchased it from and was informed due to no body shop at that location, we had to take it to a different dealership that had a body shop. When we took it, the service department took pictures and advised they had to send the pictures to Chrysler who would determine if it needed to be replaced or could be fixed on-site. A few weeks later my husband received a phone call stating Dodge would not fix the SPLIT METAL because it appeared to be caused from an "external source"!! They could not provide an example of what "external source" could cause the metal to split!! There are no scratches, damage, or dents around the split. It looks like it just split and Dodge is refusing to repair and or replace the tailgate!!! If it was caused from an "external source" we would have noticed it when this "external source" "hit" the tailgate. COME ON DODGE!! How can you make that determination from pictures! We will be speaking with corporate and then a lawyer. DO NOT PURCHASE A DODGE!!!!

2021 GT blacktop - smooth ride and looks sharp but the interior and exterior is done cheaply. Wish I would of paid more attention before buying. Have had issues with the uconnect since the day I took it off the lot. Will not be buying another Dodge in the future.

Had a 2021 R/T with the Tow and Go package build, ordered it fully loaded in June 2020, took delivery December 2020. Beautiful car, sounded amazing, rode like a dream. Six months later, the car began to shake. Went to the dealer, said it was tires out of balance. Didn't fix the issue. Went back twice more, finally diagnosed that the rotors had warped. Dodge refused to help, cost to repair was $3800. Could not trust the vehicle any longer, so sold it. Not only was the vehicle a massive disappointment, the treatment by Dodge was appalling. This was my second Durango, my first, a 2013, I put over 120,000 miles on it with no problems. Which is why I bought the second. Apparently the quality control is not what it used to be. Avoid this car.

It’sa Beautiful SUV no doubt but like select dodge vehicles are it’s slightly under powered and plagued with mechanical and electrical issues. Unfortunately now I’m considering paying an extra $2000 for an extended warranty because I know that after my bumper-to-bumper warranty is up I’m gonna have to pay out-of-pocket for the repairs that I know are coming. I bought my Durango in 2021 and within the last two years it’s been in the shop at least every 3 to 4 months with another issue with that Dodge either can’t fix or can’t figure out. Would I buy another one yes, but id definitely always sell it before the bumper-to-bumper warranty is up.

Test drive impressions

We are looking to replace a 2015 cx-9 sometime this year. Being turbo and CVT shy, we have limited options. ☹️ I took a test drive in the 2021 Durango today. My previous experience with a 2013 dakota 5.7 was not impressive. But today's drive train is a totally different beast. The Dakota had significant lag and really didn't feel like a V8 at all in 2013, though it sucked gas like a V10. Driving this 2021 R/T was a distinct pleasure. The V8 was ultra responsive and the shifts seemed to be where they should under casual acceleration as well as spirited. You do have to really bury the accelerator if you want to experience that V8 growl, but it is definitely sleeping under there! I wasn't able to test it on any curves, just some S turns thru a deserted church parking lot.But it seemed to be responsive, though you do feel it's size and weight a bit. The acceleration of the V6 CX-9 has always been responsive but lacking. With the V8 DURANGO, I finally felt satisfaction! I disliked test driving after dark but the Durango controls were surprisingly ergonomic and intuitive. I wasn't sure if that's because they were somewhat similar to the Dakota, or if they are just well designed. I did find the side mirror adjustment to be a puzzle. You must hold down 2 buttons simultaneously to make adjustments. That just seems overly complicated. One of the first things you notice is the massive 10" stereo display. But also take note, it is nicely integrated with the dashboard instead of looking like some kid glued their iPad to the top of the dash which would just be EMBARASSING for any engineer to do. For some reason, that was impressive, isn't that sad? I am not a fan of seating and climate controls being integrated with the stereo. Alhough, they are in the Durango, they also had the foresight to design a full set of individual buttons, including for the heated steering wheel... My new favorite thing!! The steering wheel heated up fast and was very welcome on this chilly January evening. However, the heated driver seat on Hi, seemed barely warm. The leather seating was very comfortable, although I'm not a fan of sweaty leather. I would probably opt for a trim level that does not include ventilated seats. I want the V8 but I'm not made of money! So, I can see some cloth seat covers in the near future. One of the most shocking discoveries...Compared to the 2015 CX-9 is a mere 87 cu ft of cargo space! The cx-9 somehow manages 100 cu ft of cargo space despite having almost the exact same exterior dimensions! Could the side curtain air bags be sapping 6 inches of interior space? Could the driver seats be that much further back that they absorb that much cargo space? The hood seems smaller than in the CX-9, so I don't think they lost interior space there. It's a mind bender 🤔. After further research I determined that the 2011 Durango got severely shrunken when re-introduced after a couple years hiatus. So It is now even smaller than the '15 CX-9. That's aoghty shame. Since I often travel with a 65" TV, this could be a deal breaker. I'll just have to see how it fits. Speaking of the hood. I absolutely LOVE the mean LOOKS of all of those hood scoops, but that just leads to dissapointment. In actual day to day, I think you're better of without them. The 2 venting scoops are just a cut-out in the hood with a cheesy plastic grill insert. That means, when you're following a truck on a rainy or snowy surface all of that gunk flying around is being deposited directly ONTO your engine! I can foresee that requiring a weekly engine cleaning in the winter months. The center scoop, although it has a barrier, does not seem connected to anything! I thought I'd open the hood and see some type of duct system leading to the air intake... Nope. Just another visual cue with NO FUNCTIONALITY. So, the disappointment is mounting 😧 I think that's one place where Dodge really failed. There should have been a cloth barrier or channel on the vents to prevent at least some debris from entering the engine compartment. As well, the hood scoop should be functional. I was expecting the rear seats to fold flat as I always do, but have yet to find any vehicle where that actually works as advertised. This tester had the rear captain chairs without a console. Just a couple of cup holders molded into the floor between the seats. So your 3rd row passenger can stumble over your soda. Hmmm. Another engineering puzzle. I suppose, I'm just a 2nd row bench kind of person. It's nice for the kids to stretch out there sometimes. But having spent most of my time as a driver, maybe I'm missing something. This seems like a very nice overall package. Since Dodge doesn't have anything to rival the Yukon or Expedition this is it! (Alhough an Expedition with a V6 is just stupid. I would never buy that for more money). We'll most likely be making our purchase as soon as the novelty wears off and they start offering a discount. Hopefully, that will happen before they outlaw the combustion engine later this year 😜 2022 update : Surprisingly, we just couldn't pull the trigger on this vehicle. Needing more interior space was really the big issue, but we also want the V8 (yes, yes, even in 2022, we want the V8). So it looks like our options are going to be limited to a Police spec Expedition or a Yukon Ext. If I can find a recent police spec at an auction with 100 miles on it for maybe $10k or less, it might be a fun project turning it back into a street vehicle. 🤔

Third Durango. 2018 (RT/AWD)-Totaled three months after purchase when someone pulled out in front of me.. Trying to hit that sweet spot again, I purchased 2019, Not enough amenities. Traded for 2021 RT and it has been at dealership since 1/26, no sign of being returned anytime soon. Second dealership,4th return for Uconnect Box service and have had star case manager since October. Engineers finally approved replacement. Two ordered, both have failed. Case manager tells me one thing, dealership tells me something different. BTW, my model trim is not listed in the drop-down for vehicle details. Mine is 2021 RT 4dr 3.6 6cyl.

Hence I pulled over many times check under the hood under the vechicle nothing seems to be wrong couldn't differentiate if it was smoke or dust coming from the back up when I pulled over .

This is our first one and I love it!! It's comfortable, it has all the pep and power it needs. It's a quiet, smooth ride. As soon as both my kids drove it, they decided a Durango would be their next vehicle. We bought a courtesy car that was gently used. It is very roomy, gets better gas mileage than was predicted. No complaints so far.

Now the election is crapping out I could be playing bluetooth and the radio comes on in the background and my volume is starting to mess up it turns up and down by its self. Oh and I took it In I did it all myself because the dodge durango is apparently perfect why would I want to destroy a 40k vehicle.

I'm pretty satisfied with my '21 Durango. Nothing has gone wrong with it other than the UConnect box has had some difficulty, now being looked at. But the glaring problem I have is this. The exhaust tips are not located in the center of the exhaust cut-outs in the rear "bumper." They are almost touching the inside edge of the cut-out's in the bumper. It makes the vehicle, from the rear, appear cross-eyed. The dealers tell me this is normal, because other Durangos on the lot are the same way. I found other Durangos on the lot that have the exhaust tips centered in their respective bumper cut-outs, shown them to the dealer, and they say there isn't any way to fix mine. I'm sure some CAD designer in the factory did not intentionally design this mis-match. And the fact that the dealers don't want to fix this shows me that this will be the last vehicle I buy from Dodge. I'll take it to a muffler shop. I'll bet some kid working for his dad will be able to fix this problem.

It is a great car! the only reason for the loss of one star is that I was told it has features that it docent have. So I was just slightly disappointed by that. Nothing worth not purchasing the car. I have only had it for two days, but it drives great, is very comfortable, and has great leg space. I like the look of the front end and the interior.

This is my 2nd Durango. I actually still have my 2016 Durango Limited and it has performed awesome! So when my college daughter needed a reliable safe car, I handed over my '16 & went and bought myself a 21 GT plus. Never regretted it. She looks great and drives great! Both my daughter's love driving my Durangos. They say they drive so smoothly, comfortable and they feel safe in them. I like the reliability and confidence I have in the engine and transmission. I hope to pass this one on to my son and get myself another one in several years.
