2016 Charger RT - Nice Ride

EWC, 08/03/2016
2016 Dodge Charger R/T 4dr Sedan (5.7L 8cyl 8A)
23 of 23 people found this review helpful

Folks: I have a 77 mile round-trip commute in heavy traffic each day. It's not fun. My 2016 Charger has been just great for the first ~10K miles. If I take it easy, I also get 32 MPG on the open highway. The vehicle is well built, quick, secure and solid. I also feel safe in it. Importantly, it also has the necessary grunt and agility to get you out of a jamb (e.g., when an aggressive 18 wheeler or a jacked up F-250 is bearing down on you on Houston's I-45) when needed. It's also a handsome beast and looks good parked among the Mercedes and BMWs that the bulk of my colleagues drive (it also makes a bit of a statement that you are not following the herd). I have a few classic cars (e.g., C-2 Corvette and vintage GM muscle cars) so owning a "daily driver" with a little bit of style is important. The 2016 Charger has it all. The only problem is that 2 of my High School boys always want to drive it (even over the old Vette, a nice King Ranch F-150 and my wife's BMW convertible). Go figure. Nice job Dodge. Keep building neat cars and I'll keep buiying a new one every couple of years.

ScatPack provides loads of fun

This car does many things great, with always a few areas of improvement. 1) Great engine, fantastic sound, well mated to the 8spd transmission so always has plenty of power. And the sound of this thing is just awesome....coworkers have told me they wait in the parking lot just to hear it start up. It sounds powerful, and can back it up. I drove up Towne pass in Death Valley (9%) in top gear (8th) at 80mph at only a 1/4 pedal. 2) Very good mileage considering what it is. I can get 27-28mpg at 75mph as long as its not too hilly and can stay in 4cyl mode. In suburbia, more like 18mpg. 3) Fun electronics. The instrument cluster has a hi-res screen in which you can display many things (even a horsepower gauge!) and it all works well. The navigation works fairly good, although Google Maps is still better. Backup camera is very clean on the 8.4 inch screen. 4) Seats are very comfortable. 5) Brakes are nice and linear, with a good pedal feel. And there are always some room to improve. Note that none of these areas are that bad, but they could be better: 1) I wish for a bit more visibility out of the car. The high beltline and shorter windows makes the car look great, but I'd like to see more. 2) The tranny downshifts when you come to a stop, and at times its a tad rough. Not bad, but could be improved. (Note....this has now been fixed with a software update). 3) The styling of the ScatPack includes a hood bulge which hurts front visibility of knowing exactly where the nose of the car is for parking. Add in the fact that the car had a low nose, and is big, makes it easy to hit curbs. I wish they had either a front camera or extended the parking sensors to the front. 4) The Beats audio system upgrade is very bleah. Its not 'bad', but certainly not worth the money. 5) The car is big. That is what it is, but I wish it was 10 inches shorter. 6) Interior materials are good, not great. But with a scatpack, you paid for the motor and had to make up the cost somewhere. Overall, a very very fun car. Its hard not to keep driving around with the windows down listening to the motor rev.... Update: Almost a year into it now (10k miles), and everything I wrote is still true. Avg 21mpg overall with 4.6 0-60 and 12.8 @ 111mph in 1/4mi. Update2: Two years in and the review still stands. A great highway cruiser, and fun even in a not too crowded suburbia. In a city, not as fun because of its size. Update3: Everything still stands. In three years it has been to the dealer once (clunking in the rear end....required new fluid), so it's holding up well. A/C is strong once you get the fan speed up. And the car's front nose is still too low....

3rd Best Decision I Have Made

Kelly M., 01/30/2017
2016 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat 4dr Sedan (6.2L 8cyl S/C 8A)
28 of 29 people found this review helpful

I am 39 years old. I asked my wife to marry me. We had out daughter. Now I own a Hellcat. So many things to say. The outside to most people looks like a suburban grocery-getter, until you slam the pedal and scare the living crap out of anyone in the 2 block radius (including my wife in the passenger seat.) This car puts a huge smile on my face everytime I accelerate. Feeling down, stressed out? Drive a Hellcat and you will be giggling like a school girl. Seriously. The inside is clean, the information system works great, and it doesn't look like a stupid European car with an iPad taped to the top of the dash. Plan on buying new tires after about 1000miles. This car will make a smoke cloud so big the fire dept. will probably get called. In conclusion, put your phone down, stop looking at other cars, SUVs, mom/dad-mobiles and go buy a Hellcat. It will change your life.

I have a love-hate relationship with my Scat Pack

2016 Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack 4dr Sedan (6.4L 8cyl 8A)

I've owned my Scat Pack for approximately 6-months and have 3200 miles on it so far. Here's my pro/con assesment. Pros: Driving this car is incredible (I always look forward to driving it and the power is exceptional), I really like both the interior and exterior styling, ride comfort is very good (if you like a firm ride), highway gas milage is surprisingly good, tech features like blind spot detection and adaptive cruse control work very well, great overall family car. Cons: Build quality is poor (body panels are a bit off - the hood fit is particularly poor, white body paint doesn't match bumper color, a few interior rattles even with just 3000 miles), dealer service is the worse I've experienced anywhere (Major World Dodge in NYC), side mirrors are too small and have blind spots no matter how they are adjusted (definitely get the tech package with blind spot detection), hard to see the front of the car over the scoop (Dodge does not offer front parking sensors). Despite the shortcomings of this car, I would not trade it for anything else in its price range because the driving experience is very very good and I like the styling. I just wish Dodge had better quality control both for its cars and dealership network...

I have been been interested in purchasing a Charger since 2015. Started reviewing them then and decided to wait for the 2016. I have a 2010 Ford Fusion (manual) that I really loved, too. Have had ZERO issues with my Fusion, but fell in love with the Charger. My husband found the exact match I was interested in, Jazz Pearl Blue, and we drover 2.5 hours in my Fusion to Barron Wisconsin. Love at first sight .. and once I got in to drive .. I knew it was a keeper. I also decided to KEEP my Ford Fusion, paid off and could not see giving away a quality car with no issues. However, since setting my butt in my Charger, I haven't been in the Fusion. I have not been driving with a Navigation system, I have this now. Everything is easy to use, love the basic and simple look and feel. Steering wheel feels awesome. Lumbar on my back. I push a button to start. Cruise was easy to figure out. Still getting used to automatic (versus my manual in the Fusion) and loving the quick acceleration. Very happy I purchased this car! 4/21/18 still happy!

Scat Pack = NASCAR For The Street For 40k

All I can say is WOW! I researched this car forever! Finally got one I had my eye on as they closed out 2016 inventory. Driving this thing can be insane but also subdued for daily driving but always ready to ROAR into action. Mine is black and due to it's appearance most people think I'm a cop and move out of the way, it's awesome, no speeding tickets yet with 6000 miles on it after 3 months (I can't help but drive this thing, it's Charger after all, not a Bentley). Cruising in this 4,400 lb monster at 90 mph is very easy to do on a smooth freeway, feels the same as most cars at 55mph. It begs to go fast! Pros: mad acceleration and absolutely amazing soundtrack to go with it (neighbors who like quiet may not be your biggest fan after you purchase this car), people will stare at you in this car (maybe they think it's a Hellcat), good tech inside, base Alpine sound system is decent, 20 inch wheels are sick, drive feel is simply great. Cons: gas mileage is bad (go figure with 392 Hemi and 485 horses - I get average 19 mpg), premium fuel required, super premium synthetic oil recommended (prob $125-150 at most shops every 6,000 miles with tire rotation needed also), visibility is not great (just look twice). This car is simply amazing, after reading this post go and get you one!!!!!

I love this car. I bought the SXT with the blacktop package in granite pearlcoat color and love it. It's roomy for my kids and they love the car too. I was really surprised how good this car is on gas considering its a V6 with plenty of power. The rebates were good. I'm very happy with my purchase.

2016 Dodge Charger R/T Road and Track 4dr Sedan (5.7L 8cyl 8A)

I traded in a 2012 R/T Plus for this 2016 R/T with Road and Track package. The Road and Track package literally turns this into a different car. Two different cars, really. You get two drive modes. Normal drive mode which I call "grandpa mode" is great when you're driving your mother in law to the hair salon. Or taking clients out to lunch. Or whatever. For more entertainment value, there's Sport drive mode. Power steering sensitivity, traction control, shift speed, etc., are customizable in both modes via touch screen. So basically, you get two cars for the price of one. Which is great. You can opt for the Scat Pack, SRT8 or Hellcat if you want to spend more. For the extra money, you get higher levels of performance and/or refinement and all three of those also have customizable drive modes, though they tend to always feel more "sport mode" all the time. If you want a car that feels like a "grown up" car when you want it to, but also can be fun... I don't think you can beat a Charger with the Road and Track package. I will also say that in the last 4 years, though the interior of the car aesthetically hasn't drastically changed, it definitely has improved in a number of small ways. Anyway... yeah. I'd recommend it. Update two years later: Still recommend it.

Love my Charger! 80000 miles and averaging 30mpg combined since I usually avoid traffic. Dodge did this one right, all though I prefer the 2014 exterior better the 2016 model is very aggressive and sporty looking. I have had nothing but good with this car so far.

2016 Dodge Charger SRT 392 4dr Sedan (6.4L 8cyl 8A)
7 of 7 people found this review helpful

I LOVE my SRT 392 . It's my daily ride and I've owned it around seven months. Too date, ownership has been trouble free. The 392 Hemi is very strong and along with the eight speed transmission does a good job getting this roughly 4500 pound car moving. If I behave, I can easily get 17 MPG around town which is better than my 2007 SXT 3.5 LTR AWD Charger got. Mileage or the increased cost of car insurance were never even considered in my decision to order this car. I've always loved performance cars and had a 69 340 GTS Dart when I was 16 and to this day still own a 69 340 Dart Swinger. My car is heavily optioned and is painted in Crystal Granite with black interior. The interior is beautiful and so much richer looking than my 2007 which had way too much plastic. My 2007 Charger had horrible blind spots and I could never see the back of the car when I was backing up. These are no longer issues for me in my 2016. The car looks fantastic with it's styling and the way it sits. The active exhaust is loud during start up but quiets down when the RPM drops. There of course some give and takes. No more pulling up to a parking lot cement block unless you want to tear up your front fascia. Curbs can also be real mean to those 20" hyper forged wheels. I even had to find another car wash for the winter months because this car does not have enough ground clearance for some automatic cars washes. I gave up an AWD vehicle for a RWD vehicle and we're just getting into winter along with snow where I live. This is a daily driver which is one reason I didn't want a Hellcat but seeing I'm retired I can stay home if the snow is too deep or borrow my wife's Grand Cherokee. After four years of ownership I continue to remain very happy with this vehicle. It really looks sharp in the color Crystal Granite and can still pass for a new car due to the care I give it. There has been no factory recalls and I had to bring it in for warranty service on one occasion when the A/C quit working. The one big change for me is that I've changed my mind and it's time for a Hellcat. I'm very happy with the 392 Hemi but as expected I want more. I was going to purchase a 2019 and ran the numbers with the dealer but held off because I couldn't let this car go at that time but now I'm ready. In the early part of 2020 after winter I'll return to the dealer and run the numbers again. I'm pretty sure I'll stay with the Charger because I love the looks and size. The Hellcat will continue to be my daily driver all year long. I'll save my winter tires and wheels that I purchased for my 392 Charger for those Chicago winters and use them on the new car. Going forward my plan right now is to keep the Hellcat for around two years which will put me at seventy years old. Maybe I'll have grown up by then!

Awesome performance. Enough room for my family of four. Gas mileage is actually pretty dang good if you keep your foot off the floor: I have averaged almost 19MPG in the first 550+ miles of owning the car, all stop-and-go driving through town. The entertainment features are really superb, along with the general functionality of the UConnect system. I am amazed at what can be had in cars today. The interior, to me, still seems somewhat cheap in certain areas (inside door skins, for instance) for a car costing north of $40K. Do I wish I would have opted for the Scat Pack instead of just the Road & Track package? Yes and no. Sure, more power and performance could have been cool, but the performance from the 5.7L HEMI is pretty awesome for my "family car." I don't know that I would opt again for the Alcantara Seats...if I had it to do again, I would opt for the full leather.

AWD family sedan disguised as a sports car

This car is everything I wanted in a daily year round driver. I live in a true 4 season climate along the Lake Michigan shore line. We get tons of lake affect snow during the cold winter months and a good amount of rain in the spring and fall. This car is heavy with lots of steel protecting me and my family. Great traction in all weather conditions with a smooth luxurious ride The AWD system works well and is fully automatic. It engages when you need it and disengages when you don't. Very little road noise and a top notch infotainment system and Beats Audio System. My only gripe is that I don't have HID headlights. (available in the AWD plus package only) I might look into an after market option.

This is a great car, very comfortable and quick with the AWD 300HP V-6, so far averaging about 24-MPG overall. Love the retro style cues, visibility is good and seats are firm, sports car feel. Driving in bad weather is no problem, even in last 6 years of snow it always get me where I'm going. No regrets on my choice. Dealer support has been great after the sale, couldn't ask for more. We have taken a several vacations in it and it's a very comfortable road car; still averages about 30-mpg on the highway. With gas prices climbing, it was a good choice. Now the car has 92,000+-mi on it, still running great, replaced battery (2021) and thermostat (2022), 2nd set of tires at 89,500 Pirelli this time, also four wheel brakes and rotors at 92,000. The navigation system cannot locate the car in its correct location, I tried to talk to people at the navigation company and all they wanted to do is sell me an update - it didn't fix the problem. Guess I'll have to find my own way, other than that car has been fine.

This was a program car I bought in May of 2017. It only had about 15K miles, and still had 29 months warranty remaining. At first I was at first a little skeptical about the 31 mpg hwy claim. Not any more! On long trips, I have seen 35 mpg several times, and even saw the tip computer hit 36 mpg for a short period. At least a couple of times with that 35 mpg, I calculated my mileage on fill-up, rather than just trusting the computer, so the computer is reasonably accurate. Though it doesn't have the power of a Hemi, the V-6 is quite adequate for me. I was surprised how well that engine could move a 4000 lb car. My only complaint, is that the car is larger than I prefer, and that's not the car's fault. This car has been trouble free for me. The only things I've replaced are tires, oil, filters, and batteries in the key fobs. I have found that the trip computer is not always accurate for mpg. Sometimes high, sometimes low. Not really a problem for me, as I choose to calculate mine. While traveling across New Mexico on I-40, at 78 mph, I saw as much as 38 mpg, but any car will get better at higher altitude.

Looking for a new car that has it all, then look no farther than a Dodge Charger. My SXT Rallye AWD is amazing. The 300HP "Pentastar" V6 does everything I had expected it would. Even with AWD, the car accelerates very well, runs smoothly and quietly, and delivers great economy. It easily gets 27mpg on the highway, and handles extremely well. The seats are firm yet comfortable, and the car heats up quickly in our cold Minnesota weather. In terms of road-holding ability, the car gets an A plus. It goes through the snow like a champ, and feels very secure all the time. I have had many compliments on the appearance of the car, and I particularly like the RT touches that comes with the Rallye package. I also own a Dodge Challenger Scat Pack Shaker, so I'm fully aware of what a muscle car feels like. The Charger is not really a muscle car, but if you think about it, 300HP not too long ago was considered a real hot rod. So I recommend the Charger SXT Rallye, as a great all around family sedan that also provides the look and the fun of Muscle car.

First off, I'm a 25 year living in Michigan. We get snow and rain most of the year so I chose the AWD. Although this model is only a V6, it is quite powerful. The AWD Charger is actually a RWD vehicle that goes into AWD when the vehicle slips or when the temp falls below a certain degree. At the slightest push of the pedal, the vehicle gets up and goes! This makes it very fun to take off on green lights. I've personally tested the vehicle to reach speeds of 125 before struggling to continue. I did this on a closed course and do not recommend doing this on any open roads as the vehicle does shake at these speeds. The vehicle interior is very basic for a sporty car but to be honest it fills all your needs. Plenty of room, many compartments, great location for USB/Aux, audio and temp controls readily accessible. I had no complains driving this vehicle other than the all season tires that came from the factory.

It's a Luxury Muscle Car. I get lots of looks and compliments. Comfortable, lots of room, quiet and fast. I don't regret buying this car, but not cheap, I drove a Mustang for 20 years, was time to get more room. I still love Mustangs though. My AWD Charger eases the Pain.

Step 1- patience. Bought it off the showroom floor for a song and dance after the initial feeding frenzy died down. Step 2-patience. Broke it in right, just like dad did all those years ago. Step 3- Patience. Know your limits, when and where to really let it loose (sorta) safely. Step 4- patience. Upgrade the rear tire size. Follow these steps and you have a 5 seater with 4 doors and a nice size trunk daily driver amusement ride. To those brand X people who can only come up with the negative argument that these just go straight, you don't know how to drive, are jealous of what the Mopar team can do, plain ignorant or merely grasping at straws to bash Chrysler (nothing new since the '60's). Just ask my wife, daughter and son in law if it handles! Priceless. Driven sanely, gas mileage @ 65-70mph easily reaches mid to upper 20's consistently by the way. The finishing touch is that factory warranty covers any usage of these vehicles. This is a permanent addition to the family............... everyone loves it.

The Incredible Charger

3 of 3 people found this review helpful

I have had my 2016 Charger SXT AWD Rallye for two years. I have driven under 10,000 miles in that time, and have had absolutely no problems. I have owned many cars, and overall this is one of the best in its class. MPG in the city isn't great, but on the highway I average between 28-32 MPG. The ride is solid, but not jarring, power of the Rallye six cylinder is simply put...quick! The Charger is rattle-free, and solid. The sound system is the upscale Beats, and the NAV system is tops. The controls are easy to understand, and very user friendly. Finally, at least in my case, my 5-star dealership has been the best. After-market interest has been perfect. The service department and reps are the best I have encountered over the years. I have rarely kept a car over 2 years (I get bored), but in this case, I plan to keep it. I also encourage buyers to consider the extra MOPAR extended warranty and road hazard protection. By the way, the Rallye feature also boosts the horsepower an extra 20.

This is my 3rd SRT powered Charger and by far the best. I've been a Mopar guy my entire life and I've owned some of the best from a '70 6 pack Bee, '70 R/T SE Challenger, '72 Satellite Sebring Plus (400 P code) and others to my 3 previously mentioned SRT's. The SRT cars way outperform the older rides by a mile. The older muscle looks cool and attracts attention and comments but that's not the reason I drive. I drive to make myself happy, not others and that's why the newer muscle gets my vote.

Can Dodge make an interior other than cheap black plastic? Loved the exterior, very mean looking and sporty. 5,7 Hemi gave lots of power. An 8 speed auto it a little to much, kept hunting for gears, a 6 speed would do better. Love the tech and touch screen but no volume or radio controls on the steering wheel? Odd. The front seats were terrible. They were uncomfortably hard, lumbar support stuck out to far even all the way deflated, and the head rest was way to far back. Never could get comfortable in it. If Dodge would step up their interiors they would have a great car.

I've owned my Charger Hellcat about 15 months and love it. The power, sound, comfort, looks and value combination cannot be matched. I love every second behind the wheel Negatives are yes the mileage is not good and it's not light on its feet but pretty much everything else is top notch. No reservations about my decision to buy the Hellcat.

Love driving the Charger R/T. The interior is great, it is fast and for a big car it handles well. No surprise for a V8, but the gas mileage is bad—it is a challenge to keep it around 18 in combined driving. But it takes regular. I have had no problems other than the sunroof not working when I bought it. It was fixed under warranty and has been flawless ever since.

I’ll start off by saying that my Charger has been a great car for the year I’ve owned it. The only issues I’ve run into is that I needed a new battery and my seat warmer had do be replaced on the back passenger side. All covered by warranty, I was out nothing. The car is pretty quick for a V6, it’ll get up there pretty quick, haha. The car is great on trips. I averaged 32.8 MPG on a 5 hour trip (between 70-78mph) and I was really surprised! The car barely drank half a tank! In city I average anywhere from 18-21MPG. I love the whole infotainment set up. It’s very user friendly and really easy to use. A lot better and more responsive than the Chevrolet MyLink I had in my previous vehicle. The Beats by Dre audio system is amazinggggg, very crisp audio and a good decent amount of bass with the built in sub in the trunk. Honestly it’s my favorite feature about the car. The leather seats are comfortable and the cooled seats are a great touch, especially in the hot weather. In the winter upon remote start the heated wheel and seats turn on by themselves, that’s also pretty nice. Overall I love the car and I plan to keep it until the 2020 redesign is released. If you’re looking for a good car with a lot of options and good highway MPG this is the car for you. :)

Never been a Sedan guy. Always figured if you want a sedan why not just buy an SUV? The Charger has definitely changed my mind. You could put two bodies in the trunk. I am a bigger guy and I can literally sit in the back seat and outstretch my legs. It really has pep and outstanding mpg. Would definitely recommend for a family of four or less. If you have more get an SUV.

Mine is SXT Black Top trim. I bought it brand new in 2016. I love the interior and exterior. It look very muscular and aggressive. I love its engine sound when I press the gas pedal. It is like a jet. I also love the remote start stop feature. However, the backup camera is very bad. It usually blinking like an old TV. I took it to the dealers to fix it and they changed the camera 3 times. In addition, the black panel in the front passenger's door blend itself and I can even see the white parts in it and it let dust come to the interior and that black plastic panel turn white due to dust. I took it to the dealer and they told me a lot of them have the same problem and they have back order so I have to wait long time to get it fix. I then said goodbye to Dodge Charger...

2016 Dodge Charger SXT..V6 Well Maintained

Purchased my car New from the State of Georgia. Only had around 116 miles and came fully loaded with Beats audio system, front collision mitigation system and large LCD monitor for all car functions. Overall has been a great car without any problems until 3 weeks ago when a light ticking sound started from the engine. Checked my oil level and it was good but still changed oil since problem was present. After oil service sound went away for a day and continued the following to result in losing power that week. Took it to a local dealer with 70K miles on it and they said the a coil misfired from the cylinder and needed replacement. Paid for repairs only to have it go disabled a week. I'm angry now 😠 considering I'm still paying on this car which is still considered fairly new to me. Took it to Dodge dealer to be told it will needs all rocker arms, 2 cams and few other components around $2000! Nonsense...I feel like letting them come get this car.. And keep in mind I never neglected the maintenance on it..always on time with the preventive maintenance as this is a investment. Only has been driven on 5 out of town trips maybe totaling 4K miles others are around town. Has anyone else had any defects similar to my vehicle? I still have my 2005 Chevy Avalanche that I've never had to go inside the engine to repair and Mitsubishi Galant I had since 2002 and sold before I purchased this Charger that I never had any engine problems until after 13 years of owning it that I also purchased new.

Infuriating Garbage

DANIEL DALY, 02/21/2016

Where to start? So I bought this car (2016 Charger SXT 3.6 V6 Rallye fully loaded) based on expert reviews. Do not trust them. This car is the prime example of what is wrong with the American auto industry. Great ideas that are poorly executed. The styling is kinda boring. The interior is a plastic sea of bland styling and afterthought peices. Poor quality plastic at that. It's as if they couldn't think of anything to fill in the blandness so they just tried to rely on the gizmos to impress you. Speaking of gizmos, let's start with the instrument cluster. It is a great looking instrument cluster. Very impressive actually. Reminds me of offerings from the German brands. It is also easy to navigate. There is hardly any reason for your hands to leave the steering wheel. It is clear they want your attention on driving. It probably also helps to keep your eyes out of the cockpit so you don't notice how bad the interior really is. The seats are very comfortable and have many adjustments. You cannot change the color of the interior lighting like you can on the Ford system. The infotainment system is okay. Much better than the Ford Sync system. It is responsive and easy to navigate. I have also had to reset it nearly every time I drive it. The Uconnect system is honestly not worth the hassle. Trying to get my Samsung S5 and this system to cooperate is a pain. The app is straight up garbage. Wifi in the car is a joke. They also charge $40 per month for this "feature". It just stops working after using it for any amount of time. The voice commands especially for the navigation is abysmal. It was bad in the Ford but so much worse in the Dodge. Don't even bother to use the voice feature with the navigation. The navigation itself is okay. Seems to work as advertised. It is a superior system to Fords in this regard. The voice system is half baked at best. Seriously the worst system in the cars I have owned. Even Hyundai has a better system. It's a complete waste. Now, let's chat about the nuts and bolts. Power is supremely lacking for a supposed 300 hp V6. I live in Colorado and have 650 miles on the car and can tell you it is absolutely terrible on the power. My buddies 2008 Toyota Camery has better power. As a matter of fact the Audi A4 has a better feel to the power with an 80 hp deficit. I should have bought the Audi. Lessons learned. The AWD is infuriating. You wouldn't think it would be as most cars with AWD just kinda leave it on. This car is rediculous. The AWD stays off and leaves the car in RWD normally. If the temperature is 40° or lower the AWD comes on. If you run the wipers for an amount of time the AWD activates (that's true). If you activate sports mode the AWD activates so now you can burn more gas with no real benefits at all. You don't get more power. You don't get better handling it just revs longer before shifting. Seriously, that's it. If you turn off the traction control the AWD activates. If you use the paddle shifters the AWD activates. In manual mode the AWD activates. It is so stupid to leave the driver no control over the system. For instance, if I want to downshift going down a hill the car will throw on the AWD and then I can burn more gas for no reason. Or if it's cold and dry out I am killing my MPG with the AWD for literally no reason at all because it is 39° outside. This car allows no fun at all because of the half baked idea with the traction control and "sport" mode. What is wrong with the ding dongs at Dodge? This system makes no sense. Don't even try to drive it agressively, it will kill your fun quick. It handles like a grandpa boat. That's all I can say about that. Oh and when I tried to take this terrible car back I had discovered it depriciated $10,000.00!!!! All within 250 miles of driving it. I expected $5000 or even $8000 and frankly would have paid it just to be rid of this awful car. But $10,000? Seriously!?! Best I can do is warn others to stay away. Please learn from my stupidity. Do not even consider this car. It is the worst possible decision to purchase this car and I regret it immensely. For this much money you can do way better.

Nice mix of performance, particularity, comfort, technology and value. 1/2019: Windshield glass appears to be delaminating as bubbles have begun to show up on both the left and right edges. 8/2019 Inner door trim panel plastic began warping (separating) at the top edge along the drivers window at 3 years, 37,000 miles. This has been reported as a common issue among owners.
