I’m 28 years old and I’ve owned three Chevys throughout the years. This one is beyond the least reliable. Under 50,000 started having issues. Now 75,000 and I’ve dumped over $4,000 in repairs into my 2015 Chevrolet Trax LTZ AWD. And not regular maintenance either. It’s been 4 years... exhaust leaks, constant replacing of belts/gaskets, leaks “everywhere” according to any shop I visit for an oil change, valve cover replaced, and so so so much more. I have paranoia when it’s time to look through service records again. Air conditioning issues. Problems with acceleration. Electrical issues. Check engine light comes on and off every other month. Bluetooth doesn’t connect automatically. The back license plate light has literally fallen out and dangled from the wires (despite our efforts to put it back in) while we waited for the dealership to order another so it could be fixed. The auto-adjust for interior dash lights and the infotainment screen doesn’t work well when the sun is rising or setting. The stabilizer light keeps staying on after ignition. My transmission is leaking...somewhere... The best part about this vehicle is it’s ability to glide right through 2 feet of snow up here in Minnesota. But seriously, I’m afraid EVERY time I need to go in for an oil change because all I hear from various service shops is how I need to replace or fix an ongoing list of parts. They are often baffled after looking at my mileage again, and suggest I should probably have extensive work done or advise I get rid of the vehicle “quickly...”
I wanted to Like It, but...
I really wanted to like this car. I thought it could be the "Cavalier" of today, but it doesn't come close. Upon first glance of the car, it's nice. You know it's a compact economical crossover. You get inside and the interior looks nice! The seat fabric is great, the plastic for the dash and interior bits is nicely styled and put together, and it has little interesting quirks inside. But as you look closer, things start to get aggravating. There is no rear visibility in this thing. Just think of the whole back end as 1 giant blind spot. This does have a rear camera, but I don't like those because when you're backing up, your eyes have to focus differently from side mirror, to camera, to side mirror, and it's easy to feel like you just can't se everything. Likewise, while driving forward, the rear pillar causes such a huge blind spot that you cannot look behind you to make sure the driver side is clear for a lane change. You can only use the mirror. Also, in regards to the interior, the rear cargo area isn't as big as it seems. I can currently store more stuff in the trunk area of my '05 Corolla than the cargo area for the Trax. It's a bit disappointing but understandable. Moving on to the exterior, the tall stance of the car makes you feel happy. You have a little SUV, until you pull up to a parking stone. The front end of this car is so low, you will scrape it and pull off the front air deflector if you pull all the way up to a parking stone. The gas mileage on this car shows as 24mpg city, and they weren't kidding. This car does not deviate. You get 24mg. On mixed driving, you still get 24 according to the dash. I have a feeling that the computer is really good at managing this engine. The shifting on this car is horrible. The car is slow to accelerate and the first couple gear changes are quite choppy. I feel this transmission to be a bit jerky and choppy overall. Mechanical Failures: Apparently, this engine is known for EVAP failures. I've already had to replace the vent solenoid for the unit I'm currently writing about. I've also noticed seepage coming from the water pump area so I suspect that will need to be replaced soon. Under the hood, away from the water pump, you can already see rust on the body panels. Planned obsolescence, I'm sure, but this car is only 4 years old with 60,000 miles on it. When all is said and done, I would not recommend this car to anybody. If they had no choice left, I would tell them to take public transportation.

Good little SUV
Good gas mileage. Good little car for two adults. However, if a car seat is needed not a lot extra room in the backseat. Very pleased with this purchase.

Teen Ride or single Adult
This is a pretty great car if your single or young adult. But once I met my boyfriend who has two kiddos it was a tight fit. Then to add we had our own son recently. It is impossible to fit three kids in the back with two booster and one full car seat. I’ve had a few issues with the car electricly, issue where the radio wouldnt turn off which would kill my car battery then my car microphone wouldn’t work for Bluetooth or on star. Then recently I took my car in for an oil change and possible transmission leak (which they said wasn’t leaking... but there was still fluid dripping onto my garage floor... so not sure there) then 3mo later, my compass and Bluetooth microphone have stopped working again and the security light was on for a day, but is off now. It’s time for an other oil change, so hopefully they can figure out this electrical issue again... BUT other than those electrical issues in the last three years, the car is great. I bought it will 4 miles it now has 52000. I drove it across the country the first month and since driven it up the West coast and back and eastward and back. She’s great for big cities since it fits in compact spaces and the gas mileage is awesome.

2015 Trax LTZ AWD
What a great little rig! So easy to get in and out of. Perfect for zipping around town, in and out of traffic, and parking in tight spots. Has plenty of pep to get it up and going. Fuel economy is good. The Bluetooth system is not the best. For example: if you remote start the car then get in and go a few minutes later, the Bluetooth will not automatically link up with your device. You must initiate the connection through your phone. I've had many vehicles with Bluetooth and this is the first one that has required a forced connection when using remote start. This only happens when you use the remote start feature and not when you get in, start, and go. There is only 1 USB port and it's in the little upper glove box. Not really a big deal until you want to have your device somewhere other than shut in the little glove box. There is no route for the cord to exit the little glove box with the door shut without feeling like you are pinching the cord. This seems to have been fixed with the 2017 model refresh. Fit and finish is as expected or better for a vehicle of this price point. It is definitely worth a look if you are in the market for a small SUV
