Good but not great

The Trax was one CUV I wanted to love, after test driving I passed. In 2013 I test drove an Encore and loved it but the price was too much. Fast forward to 2015, I couldn't wait to get behind the wheel of the Trax. First, the LT model is just shy of $25k which is a lot considering its lack of features at this trim. Get passed that then there's the interior which is made of hard designed plastic, which again feels like a much more inexpensive car than a mid $20k CUV. Controls ultimately felt cheap and toylike. Driving it, isn't a bad experience, toss able and somewhat fun. Still needs a larger engine with more power though. Transmission shifts pretty well but the car struggles when accelerating. Seats are probably ripped straight out of the Spark( no offense to the Spark) which are not very comfortable and there is only one narrow armrest for the front passengers. This CUV is probably the smallest of the group. The back seats are cumbersome and require folding the bottom cushion first, then removing the headrests, and then you may fold the seat back. Tech? Decent even good at times, Mylink is a great system. Overall, I'm sure anyone would be happy with it but ultimately it falls short of its competition. My advice? Drive them all then make your decision.

Lots of maintenance

2015 Chevrolet Trax LTZ 4dr SUV (1.4L 4cyl Turbo 6A)

I have the 2015 LTZ. It had one owner before me and I've had it for 2.5 years. In that 2.5 years I've had more maintenance issues than I expected. Last year I had the engine overheat and needed to replace the water pump and thermostat. 8 months later the car started jerking during acceleration and idle which required the spark plug coils to be replaced. Two weeks after that, the A/C stopped working and the check engine light came on two different times due to a faulty thermostat sensor. All three of these fixes were very pricey and it seems too much and not worth the hassle. I really liked the car but I'm afraid of what other maintenance issues I may encounter.

Short people beware

Just recently purchased the vehicle, so can't say a whole lot about it at this point. But the one thing I have noticed is the liftgate is not made for short people. I am only 5'1" and to close the lift I have to jump up to reach it. I am an elderly person and that is hard for me to do. Have almost fallen a couple of times. GM need's to modify that with a pull down strap that is easily accessible. Checked with the dealership to see what could possibly be done to correct the problem and they did have a suggestion as to how to fix it, but it requires drilling a hole in the lift and my husband isn't comfortable that not knowing what he may drill into. And of course the service department "might" do it for a charge. The only other thing I have noticed to date is the rear seat head rest block's part of the view when looking through the rear view mirror. Not good if you are traveling the interstate or 4 lane highway. Other than that, I really like the vehicle. Well worth the cost.

I love this little SUV...I think it's cute...and easy to get into...roomy and I love the small but ample size...parks like a dream..there are very few things I don't like about this car...it's perfect for me...and...it's my first new car ever...I'm 73...it's not for the race drivers...or probably for those with children...but for a couple and especially any city driving and parking...she's a sweet heart...!! One year later...and she had never ceased to make me happy...warms up the car for me from the the house on those cold days...gets me in and out of all those busy parking lots like a dream...takes me where every I need to go...local is my preference...couldn't be happier with her...!! Now I've had her going into our third year...love her as much as I did when I got her....and say the same...word for word.

Cutest Small SUV on the Road!

After a devastating car accident in February 2017, I was looking for something safe with good sight lines that would not cause a concussion when getting in and out of the car. Went to explore several options when I came upon my 2015 Chevy Trax Lt. Easy to get in and out of without banging your head, plenty of head room, excellent sight lines out the side and back windows. The car did not have that dark, closed in feeling that I experienced when test driving other similar vehicles costing more than the Trax. Been driving it for a few weeks now and I LOVE IT! I feel safe, it gets me to where I have to go and I am loving the Entertainment equipment this car comes with. If you are looking for a smaller SUV, consider test driving the Trax. It does not disappoint.
