Best automobile I ever had......................
Know that if you buy this vehicle you will have a reliable vehicle for life. I purchased my Suburban in 2001 with 22K miles on it and have driven this vehicle for 13 years as far as Nova Scotia Canada as well as many, many other states but this vehicle has taken me many miles and I have not had any problems with it. The tires are a little pricey but what can you expect for such a mega vehicle. The seats are comfortable, seating is awesome and which is why I purchased. I was infatuated with having a vehicle that seated 9 although at the time I only had 1 child. The vehicle has so much space. We would travel and be able to leave all the seats in and take our child bike as well as luggage. When we all wanted to take bikes we would take out the 3rd row and the bikes would sit up in there without taking any wheels off as well as luggage and cooler. I can't say anything bad about the Suburban. I cried when I sold mine. So 13years later and 289,000 miles!!!!! I sold my vehicle because I did notice around 270,000 miles the engine requires work. Watch out for the coils, its like 8 of them and they cost a whopping chunk of change. I could not get the check engine light to go off once I hit 270K miles no matter what I did to repair the vehicle. I still have no complaints because for the whole life of the truck I never fixed anything on the truck except replacing the fuel pump $600 so this baby has been good to me. Also please note as the truck gets older the gas mileage gets better. I drove from Raleigh NC to Orlando FL round trip for $228. Awesome!!!Once I had the engine problems I spent about $1200 on the car and still couldn't get the truck to drive as it once did and I lost my job and was unable to continue to work on the truck so I sold it for $3000 which I am more than satisfied with. I cried and kissed my baby on the day of sale. I wish I could have kept it forever and I would have changed out the motor and kept it moving....Please keep in mind, I am a woman driver and drove my baby like she was built but at the same time I took great care of her so I know that had something to do with how good of shape she was still in and how she was able to be reliable for me. I am in the market for buying another one..... It's 09/10/2016 and I still have not found one. I found a BMW 325ci convertible, sweet yes but nothing like my suburban. I am still in the market for buying another Suburban (it's 3/12/17), they are so costly and the miles are too high. I know I will NEVER find another one like mine, I gave birth to mine and watched it grow and leave the nest....:(

Nothing but praise!
Purchased vehicle new for hauling the family and a utility trailer. After 217,000 miles of use that has expanded to include long road trips loaded to the max, towing an enclosed snowmobile trailer in Maine, many off road excursions in Maine and Colorado, and now towing a 23' travel trailer in the Rockies this truck has performed flawlessly. Besides general maintenance I have replaced a water pump, fuel pump, alternator, and rotors, once. The engine has never been opened except to replace an intake gasket. It is just now starting to burn some oil when pressed hard. Every single function on this vehicle still works. The transmission and brake issues have been resolved. This vehicle is awesome

Impressed by Chevrolet. It's about time!
I was woried at first about owning an SUV and its reliability from Chvey. All I can say is wo. !I love this SUV! No problems what so ever that set me back. Very reliable. Great size, comfort, and can haul no problem.
Surprise! Great gas mileage
Everyone I talk to groans when they think of a Suburban and the gas it must use. Well, I want to set the record straight that I get 17-20 mpg, and most of the time 18mpg. I'm an at- home Mom, and my driving is a combo of freeway and side streets. It's been super reliable, and my dealer threw in free oil changes for life, which I love.
Best SUV and a low cost to operate
My Suburban was purchased used in 2001. The car had 18,000 miles when purchased. I use this car for work since the day I purchsed it. My average gas millage is a poor 16mpg but concidering the low maintenance cost to operate I feel Like I get 40mpg. The car has 428,000 miles and rides like a new car. Here is a list of my repairs. 160K first tune up done by myself. 210k & 400k a fuel pump gave out (850.00 ea. installed). At 250K the Air conditioner was replaced. At 340,000 I replace engine with a used 60K mile engine installed for 1,200.00. At 360K trans died (800.00 used and installed) Replaced back shocks and at 400,000 replaced rear rodors and pads, front rotor is original.
Pro Suburban
Our Suburban has been a outstanding travel vehicle for us. We drive 22,000 miles per year. Fule economy averages 15.5 city and 17.4 to 18 highway. Not bad considering we are driving in mountains and generaly loaded.
Unbelievable
My wife had no desire to go from mini-van to large truck and I was concerned about American quaility. One year later she can't imagine not having it and I've been very pleased with the quality. Absolutely no problems with truck runs perfectly.
Indestructible
We are now at 290,000 on Old Bessie and she is still going strong. We change the oil every 4000 miles and it's still going strong. The only repairs we have had are the power steering pump, the belt tensioner, and an intake plenum. I think we may have put it one starter but I'm not sure. Basically this car is start and drive. It's old, it's dented and it leaks oil a bit (leaks, not burns) but I would still drive this thing through hell. Awesome comfortable car.
World Class
Best vehicle I've ever purchased. We've taken 3 vacation trips 2 to Florida, 1 to our nation's capitol just after 9/11. The interior creature comforts in our's made every trip enjoyable. We felt confident on the mechanial reliablity, and have had no problems. With over 88,000 miles traveled, to countless soccer, baseball, and footbal practices, and games. My wife thought it was too big at first. Now she has claimed as her own. The kids, and dog love it too. Some of her friends prefer it to their vehicle because of the heated seats, and cargo space (etc.) when they go shopping. We have others who are amazed at the ride, and condition for a vehicle. Someday I hope to claim it as mine own again.
Great vehicle
Don't buy this planning to tow enclosed car haulers - go for the 2500 series.
Nice SUV
Bought the Z71 from Texas Direct Auto on eBay sight unseen in 2004 to replace a conversion van. I must say that I have been pleasantly surprised by this truck. Approaching 110,000 miles and the only problem has been a cracked connector on the gas tank (had to replace entire tank). Powerful, quick, and very comfortable on long trips. Towed a 21' boat with no problem (hard to tell the boat was even there). Gas mileage is not too bad for a full sized SUV. Only complaints are the amount of leg room for the front passenger (my Expedition has alot more)and small plastic parts in the interiors keep falling off. All in all, I would definitely buy this SUV again
2001 suburban
great highway vehicle for family trips
Happy man
This is a great truck. I read reviews about "bad fuel economy". Remember this is a big truck and for its engine and vehicle size, it's good on gas. I had an Explorer which was a lot worse. Over all this is a great vehicle. It's very comfortable, and handles great. I'm a Suburban man for life.
2001 Suburban
Bought our Suburban new summer of 01. Overall, it has been a average vehicle. Its power and handling are subpar by todays standards but are certainly adequate. Braking is not very secure feeling. The controls are laid out well and are easy to use. However, the design doesn't look all that great, kind of cheap. The front seats are extremely comfortable. 2nd &3rd row seats complete opposite. Quality has been bad but not terrible. Lots of problems and has caused some real headaches. Luckily, all of the tons of problems it has had have been relatively inexpensive to resolve. However,my friend got a lemon with his 02 tahoe. Nothing but problems, thousands spent on repairs, left them stranded often
Will have another!
After eight year I think we got our money's worth! Great people mover, car hauler, swim taxi. My wife loves this suv and we will buy another one. Very few repairs, just maintain it. Did I say great car.
Great year for Suburbans
We purchased this 2001 Suburban used in 2002 with 20,000 miles on it. And now in 2018 at 17 years old it has 369,000+ miles on it! Our family grew up in this Suburban running us all over town and the state for school, volleyball, football, basketball, college, vacation and work. The LT package with leather seats were a lifesaver because of all the stuff spilled over the years. The leather on the front two seats has cracked in some places and torn a little, but the power seats and seat warmers, etc. still work. REGULAR MAINTENANCE are the magic words. The first four years we put approx 32,000 miles a year on it for work. The last 12 years have averaged 18,000+. The first four years we changed the oil every month; every 3000 miles. When our annual mileage decreased, we changed the oil every 5,000 miles. We always went to Jiffy Lube for only oil changes and always used high mileage oil. We never switched around or tried a specific synthetic just because it was on sale. We're convinced that regular maintenance has been the best decision and has enabled us to continue driving this truck for so long. The engine is awesome and still has great response and pick up. We've put two rebuilt transmissions in it -- but that's okay for the amount of miles we driven. We've replaced the alternator twice, replaced the brakes three times, and replaced the shocks once. Everything has been worked on some over the years, but still has the original engine! It's always burned a little extra oil, and several interior things don't work like they used to. The anti-lock brakes went out about 11 years ago; we didn't replace it -- it's not mandatory to pass inspection and at the time it was an $1800 fix. Over the years it's been in five accidents; rear-ended twice, backed into once, and two others. All fixed except the one dent where someone backed into it. It's definitely seen better days, and is more a work truck now. There are very few vehicles that four to seven adults can pile into and ride comfortably. Over the years, we've always been the go to vehicle for lot's of our friends and family. It's kept our family safe, secure and extremely comfortable -- WE LOVE THIS SUBURBAN!!!

Runs like a Champ
Purchased as a towable behind the RV with 60,000 miles on the clock. Now I have 129,000 and use it as a daily driver. Cant beat the ride, utility, reliability and safety. Have two kids at home and it stores everything.Got rid of my daily driver (Had $30K invested ad didn't need the truck anymoe) and love that I don't have a truck payment. Everyone says it will go 25o,000 miles, other than routine maintenance...I think they are right. Mileage is fine, if you are not abusive with the gas pedal, it get's 12 to 15 MPG, with no monthly payment, it's ok. Go for one, any year because they keep getting better. MB
Trouble in paradise.
Purchased a 2001 2500-LT Suburban "GM Certified Used Vehicle" in August, 04 with ~58K miles. In the first 9 months of ownership, we've had multiple major repairs, including: exhaust (which we came to find is a dealer only part. No aftermarket muffler for the 2500 series. Major dollars) Side mirror fell off. Window regulator failed. Rear cooling lines ruptured. Complete brake job with rotors. Fuel pump failed. Broken radio antenna. Brake booster replaced. Tail lights failed Transmission lines replaced. Front U roints replaced. Regreased the rear passenger door straps twice. Leaking fuel line. Fortunately, we purchased the used car warranty, as it's paid for itself twice over.
Chevy Rocks!
We frequently pull a 26' travel trailer as well as use this truck for every day use running the family around, and this truck performs beautifully. Winter weather does not affect the stability of the vehicle either. The "Auto 4WD" option is the best feature to have during those trips when the road conditions fluctuate between slippery/ice/snow to just wet. We went from a Tahoe to the Suburban and will never pick anything but Chevy when it comes to future purchases.
So far so good
I bought this vehicle used and so far the family loves it. It had almost 100k when I bought it and have no problems as of yet. We've only had the SUV for about 8 months but have had no problems. It hates cheap gas, runs badly, but with Chevron gas no problems. The gas mileage isn't so bad considering its a huge vehicle. We tend to drive on road trips 5 hours plus per trip and it's great having all that room. We fit everything in there. 2 car seats, baggage for 5 people (2 adults & 3 kids, stroller, infent bed, golf bag, toys and a couple loose things. Do your homework, test drive, haggle and carfax. Good luck.
Great big family on the move vehicle
We bought our 2001 suburban in 2003 with fairly low miles, after our 4th son was born and we realized that we were not 'van people'. We have almost 300,000 miles on it!! We have had to get the transmission rebuilt twice, and the fuel pump replace. It leaks oil, and coolant. We live in Florida, so we just use water....nothing freezes here . :) I get regular maintenance on it, and keep the tires good. It does eat some gas, but truly it isn't as bad as it could be. We can go from Tampa-Daytona and back on a tank, with spare to run all over Daytona. And Tampa-Atlanta is just over a tank each way. It takes awhile to heat up now (on cold mornings) but it's also old.
Unsatisfied-2nd Suburban
Multiple costly repairs between 37,000 and 42,000 miles on items I never expected to be problems -fuel sending unit ($800.00), a seatbelt ($200.00), 4WD switch ($200.00), window motor ($200.00). Yes I contacted GM, was patronized and then told they would not cover any of the repairs-the truck was out of warranty by mileage, but only 2.5 years old. It is my 2nd Suburban in 5 years. I guess the first one wasn't "just a lemon".
Love the Car hate the MPG
I absolutely love my Suburban. it is very roomy and comfortable. The only complaint is the MPG. We get 10- 14 mpg. The cost of gas ends up being so much a month it is almost like having a %500 monthly car bill. I will probably sell it and find a different vehicle just due to MPG.
I love my Suburban
After having paid my dues since my last two vehicles were green minivans, I decided to take the plunge and go for another SUV. I'd had a Ford Explorer before I had that third child! I've already told my husband that I am ruined. Until I get the kids raised, I'm a Suburban driver for life! It is reliable, and the "little touches", such as carpeting all the way up into the control panel, yummy leather, a control panel both for the stereo and the climate for the rear passengers, go above and beyond expectations. The cargo space has no peer. It's huge, carpeted, of course, and there are little "secret compartments" here and there. I could go on and on, but I'm out of space!
very nice
THE PERFORMANCE HAS IMPROVED DRAMATICALLY WITH AN AFTERMARKET EXHAUST,THE RIDE IS GREAT,DRIVING IN THE WINTER ON BAD ROADS IS EXCEPTIONAL!!!THE AUTO-TRAC 4WD IS AWESOME.
Excellent Truck
I think the suburban/tahoe/yukon trucks are the best SUV on the planet. They handle great, never rattle, are quiet, awesome vehicles. Keep up the good work
01 LT Suburban
My mom has had 9 of these. Different years, but wow, they are amazing. Our 01 lasted us for a long time, bought used in 2009. We had packed it with luggage and kids. My mom beat it to the ground. We would still have it had it not started leaking coolant, so we sold her off in 15 at 231k miles. Sold one day after being put up. These trucks will last you a lifetime.

Best vehicle ever owned
Bought the Suburban fully loaded brand new. Have over 144,000 miles on it the no major repairs or wrecks smoother than an Acura MDX. The traction control system works over the top good it has a locking differential. The best invention since heated since also in the suburban. The seats still have eneough cushion rebound to seat comfortably. The interior color is tan and well colored and and the exterior color is white, tough and fade proof
Excellent Value
We have had our burb for nearly 2 years and find it to be the best vehicle we have ever owned. It tows our 21ft boat through the mountains of Colorado with ease, and makes our 3 kids very comfortable for those long treks to Lake Powell. Regular maintenance has made this vehicle hassel free and extremely comfortable.
Great vehicle
We purchased our Suburban used and we have nothing but wonderful things to say about this SUV other than the gas mileage. It is so solid and we feel very safe driving it. We have the 8.1 liter, no problems hauling. It is one tough vehicle.
We luv our bus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had to get a bigger vehicle (I was pregnant)so we traded in our Jag Vand Plas for a used 2001 "Bus" with 117,000mls. We can't tell you how much we luv our "Bus" We added 3 TV'S for the kids, Navigation for me. It is great for Soccer and other sport activities for the family,we travel a lot and it has great as mileage (16-18) We hardly drive our other vehicles except for work. When the engine falls out we'll get another used "Bus"
Suburban
I am the orignal ownwer of this vehicle. I have ensured this vehicle has met every scheduled mx as well as regular oil changes, At 85K a hose clamp gave way, 98K replaced window regulator and 101K AC compressor, new one has life time warranty. We travel exetensively and love traveling in the Suburban.
Big Truck Feel - Luxury Ride and Control
I bought this Suburban used from a private party and I've had a few normal maintenance issues, but overall this thing is a beast that never dies. I tow a camper back and forth for a total of 120 miles every weekend in the summer and I have no problems and get over 10 mpg (6000 lbs camper). The ride feels like a car and it handles like a car. I love my Suburban!
Love the Burb
We've owned this Sub since moving up from a Tahoe. Ours has been flawless for hauling kids, gear and even towing a 20' trailer full of off road vehicles. The K&N intake and a superchips programmer are a must upgrade and it doesn't need a loud exhaust because we love to hear the soundtracks of the DVDs. Our kids and their friends love it. I think we'll keep this one even after we get my wife a new one.
The Burb Keeps Going!
We have used our Suburban for just about everything. We travel all over the city hauling the kids and their sports equipment every weekend and also use the vehicle to pull our seadoos. Have used the Suburban in the snow, sand, and mud with no problems driving the vehicle on/off road. Plenty of power for highway driving which is fun to drive!
2001 Chevrolet Suburban
Great truck for hauling the family and my 30ft travel trailer. Love the standard and optional equipment and the build quality.
2001 Suburban LS
I have one major complaint with this vehicle. Wind noise around the front passenger door and the windshield. I have had it into 2 different dealers 3 different times. Some adjustments have been made but the problem persists. I had been told that the problem was anything from the bug deflector to the antenna to this is "normal wind noise". If it is 'normal' then why when I drove a GMC pickup as a loaner for one of my service visits the pickup was noticably quiter? After all, it has the same hood, fenders, doors, etc. as the Suburban. If the wind noise problem could be fixed I would be fairly happy with the vehicle.
01 suburban
We love it we have a 99 tahoe also and like it but this drives abit smoother and the styling is more modern. We feel very safe and have not problems. We will by another when decide it is time to trade it in!!
not up to old quality
problems with engine oil use, stalling engine, air conditioner, pulley, tensioner, cheaper build than older model chevy trucks. i bought new a 95 tahoe...no problems, no oil use, no complaints with the tahoe at all (still have tahoe with 162k miles). 42k should buy a great truck! it did not.
Great SUV
I bought this vehicle new and it has been great. It has 85,000 miles and only major repair has been a leaking water pump. It is great for long trips with plenty of room for the family, baggage and equipment.
EXPERIENCE OF OWNERSHIP
ELECTRIC WINDOWS HAVE BROKEN ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS DESPITE MINIMAL USE. REMOVING REAR SEAT REMAINS DIFFICULT. BRAKING REMAINS MARGINAL.
Don't buy a Chevy Suburban
The top of the line LT model is a piece of junk. Within first year the AC fan motor broke, front seat rails were cracked, front shock absorber bad, driver heated seat doesn't heat, engine pings and knocks real bad even if using high test, other people have same problem, fuel gauge doesn't read correctly, electrical problem with clock/radio (a friend who also owns a 2001 LT has same problem) Chevy makes these trucks in Mexico. The quality just isn't there. Friend has had to replace electric window motor on the same door three times in the past 2 years with AC Delco Mexican parts; they repeatedly broke. Chevy/GM customer service is a joke.
I love suburbans
This is my sixth Suburban, and even tho the family is grown, there is always "stuff" (and grandkids)to haul! The auto 4WD is great in our rotten winters and it is extremely stable even in 2WD! Build quality and reliability are great, although the interior is rather plain in comparison to older models!
Riding High and In Style
I know the mpg is low but that comes with a vehicle this big. I bought this because I have 3 kids and a wife. Everybody has enough room to spread out.
2001 Suburban
This is the best vehicle we have ever owned. We get 19 mpg which is very good for a vehicle this size.No problems with this vehicle with 18k on the odometer.Very reliable, will never own less!
My used SUB
This is a comfortable, smooth riding SUV! Already own GM truck for years with same engine and Trans. Both smooth and powerful. Visibility restricted when backing up. Go over a few curbs due to it's length. Don't want to drive anything else because of feeling of good size and safety.
Best American full size SUV
This is by far the best full size SUV in America. The Chevrolet Suburban.
Best SUV for your money
My Suburban has great power when I need it. It is as comfortable as a car, and has lots of room inside. It has been extremely dependable. I have not had any problems with it. I plan on keeping it for a long time. I would not drive any other SUV. It's solid and you feel very safe in it.
Very Happy
There has been significant improvemt to this vehicle since my 94' Burb that I put 150K miles on. The increase in power and fuel mileage is a great suprise. The ride and handling are also much better and make the truck quite easy to drive.
Excellent Car
When we purchased the vehicle in 2001, we were told that it was used as a program car. If it was displayed in public, then it must be good. This vehicle is well built and tough. A monster 8.1 V8 engine leaves nothing to be desired. The ride and suspension is excellent, and road noise is little to nothing. I would definitely purchase another Suburban. The depreciation is excellent, and the model is one of the most wanted SUV models in existence. It also is fun to drive and comfort is excellent!!
