2nd SubBurban
Bought our 1st in Texas in 1992, put 168000 miles on it, shined it up and it looked new. Never occured to us to replace it with anything else. We no longer need to haul 12 girlscouts or 500 boxes of cookes ot a time, but my wife just loves her Surburban. Who cares if the mileage is less than 20MPG? Get rearended someday, get out and look at the poor guy that hit you and you will never drive a lesser car(truck)
It saved my life
6 months after we bought our Suburban, we had an accident that totalled our 26' trailer (it flipped on its side) and did significant ($10,000) damage to the truck. All four wheel remained on the ground and the sherriff's dept told us they had had three SUV's flip earlier in the week. After the truck was repaired, there was only one mechanical problem with the truck, which was fixed in less than an hour.

I love suburbans
This is my sixth Suburban, and even tho the family is grown, there is always "stuff" (and grandkids)to haul! The auto 4WD is great in our rotten winters and it is extremely stable even in 2WD! Build quality and reliability are great, although the interior is rather plain in comparison to older models!
My used SUB
This is a comfortable, smooth riding SUV! Already own GM truck for years with same engine and Trans. Both smooth and powerful. Visibility restricted when backing up. Go over a few curbs due to it's length. Don't want to drive anything else because of feeling of good size and safety.
Best SUV for your money
My Suburban has great power when I need it. It is as comfortable as a car, and has lots of room inside. It has been extremely dependable. I have not had any problems with it. I plan on keeping it for a long time. I would not drive any other SUV. It's solid and you feel very safe in it.
Excellent Car
When we purchased the vehicle in 2001, we were told that it was used as a program car. If it was displayed in public, then it must be good. This vehicle is well built and tough. A monster 8.1 V8 engine leaves nothing to be desired. The ride and suspension is excellent, and road noise is little to nothing. I would definitely purchase another Suburban. The depreciation is excellent, and the model is one of the most wanted SUV models in existence. It also is fun to drive and comfort is excellent!!
Goes in snow
In 135K commercial use only repair was a window motor. Did get it stuck once also (operator-error). Rides like a dream with tons of room but still gets 17mpg. Just bought another one for the fleet. Its a lot of car for 14K in the used market.
Great SUV
When I bought this ( we call it the bus) I expected 12 mpg but I am getting 18 which is a surprise. I will never buy anything I have enjoyed more!
Hate to see you go...
I love my Suburban. It seems to work for erverything except fuel economy. I have enjoyed my car for five years. I expected to keep it longer. At this time the reliability is not doing well. At 90k I lost the transmission. I have felt extremely safe in this large vehicle.
Super Sub
I've had eight Subs and they keep getting better. Only reason for trading this one is to get an 04. I just hate the so called "professional" reviewers that always knock the size of the vehicle. I say, if they want to live where all you can drive is a match box, that your choice, just don't trash the most perfect vehicle in the world for the real world drivers.
great family whale
I love my car it is the 2nd one which was a bit of a lemon but the 2500 and new nodel is the best We love it.
perfect vehicle
The Suburban is perfect for a family of five or more. Plenty of room for all the kids, dog, sporting equipment and carpool. Handles better than most cars while offering the safety of a truck. Auto 4 option is perfect for rain slick roads.
Super
This is one of the easiest SUVs to drive, even in reverse and when parking. It feels like a good expensive sedan. Not bouncy nor tight like other "large" SUVs. Except for the gas expense and the outside mirrors that do not fold by themselves, I think this is a super car.
01 Suburban Review
I have not owned it very long, but already love the vehicle. I have two grown teenaged daughters, my wife, myself and an invalid mother-in-law that is with us a great deal. The Suburban gives us all the room we need to transport everyone. We just got back from a beach vacation in the truck, and I am here to say I am furthur impressed with the load capability and comfort. Also, it gets approximately 18 mpg on the highway. I have friends that have had them for several years. and I wish I had not hesitated to finally purchase one. I will looking to purchase a new one by next year
I still love my suburban
This is my 3rd suburban. The 6 ltr engine is great. No problem hauling my 30' travel trailer. The styling is nice, although there is way too much plastic for a $40-50K vehicle. Several pieces have broken, while my '93 Suburban has yet to have any broken interior components. It is also interesting that I started to see rust spots on the finish after owning it only 6 months. Road noise is a little high, but this is a 3/4 ton truck. It has a tight turning radius, but hard to move if the wheels are cranked. The ride is decent. I still love suburbans, but hope GM will take another look at interior quality.
Never thought it would be this good
Not only does it have a comfort level that blew my mind, but its body and design is awesome. Milage is not bad when you compare it to SUV's out there. Pound for pound this is the best priced, quality, luxury SUV out in the market. Come on, it seats 9 and you are king of the road!
Wife was happy with my new truck.
First test drive my Wife did the driving and now I have a hard time getting her to be the passenger. Easy to drive. Took family on a 3600 mile trip five months after we bought the vechile with five children and we had room to spare.
sweeeeet
from an excursion to this.... no comparison. chevy # 1
Can't Beat It
There are draw backs to a truck this size. But none take away from the overall satisfaction of driving it. I wouldn't trade it for any vehicle in it's class.
At 281k miles
Transmission, gear box, power steering pump, left rear window regulator and climate control will most likely need to be replaced by 280k miles. Other than that, great ruck.

I like my Suburban
great vehicle on a trip and around town; very reliable; reasonably good gas mileage (16mpg); great hauling capacity.
TOO MANY PROBLEMS FOR SUCH AN EXPENSIVE
Piece of Junk - Very dissatisfied owner. I had following problems. Delivered with bad alignment 3rd row seat is all plastic not leather as advertised Horn burnt out at 36,000 Steering squeeks, is notchy and stiff Transmission slipped at 49,000 miles Fuel pump needed replacement at 20,000 Throttle body needed replacement at 16,000 Needed new battery at 32,000
2001 suburban
Good overall quality, like new body style. Performance is good with 5.3L engine with good gas milage for a vehicle of its size (high teens highway).
Excellent truck
This vehicle is outstanding. inside and out. It is awsome in a minnesota winter.
Making Progress
This is my second Suburban, which is a Z71. With 28,000 on this one we have experienced fewer problems then we did on our 1995 LT. Milage has improved but nothing like the others have reported. It is pretty much 15 city or highway - uphill or down. Problems to date have been with the front suspension that makes odd noises occasionally accompanied with excessive tire ware on the inside of the tires. The other minor issue has been with the rear AC control that now only works at one speed - high. Other then that, it is much more livable car to drive day to day then the previous generation, and at the price I got it at a much better value then most of the compitition.
Great
GM's suburband and yukn xl models are the best. Very powerfull and plenty of room. Very luxuious for a truck. Love it
2001Suburban LT
Great vehicle, but it should be for the price!
2001 Suburban
This is my 3rd Suburban and I have loved all three, keeping all until well over 100000 miles. There is significant improvement in this model's drive train over my 1990 model. However, the interior is not worthy of the price of the vehicle. I did not opt for leather seats. The fabric is worn in rather strange places due to tightness of fit and several plastic molding on the inside have either come off, or have broken when something was dropped on the piece. The latch for the rear fold down broke after only 3 years and the gray is coming off the dash. I love the convenience and the haulability of people, dogs and other stuff. Have Suburban, will travel!
My 2001 Suburban
My 2001 Suburban has a powerful 5.3 L V8 and on the highway I get 19.5 MPG. I chose a two wheel drive model for better fuel economy, lower cost, less chance of mechanical failure, and because I don't need four wheel drive. I plan on keeping it for 250K miles. If I thought I'd resell it after a couple of years I probably would have chosen a four wheel drive model since resale would be easier. I love this truck. It is roomy inside and comfortable for my family. I have four children who all enjoy riding in it, and I don't have to worry about them out-growing it. It has a front bench seat (that I insisted on) and a third row seat with fairly easy access, and
Perfect SUV
This is a perfect SUV for any family. It holds a lot of stuff, and a lot of people too. I once packed the car to the limit with 9 passengers, a dog, three coolers, and a few picnic baskets, and we were all very comfortable. This car beats any other fullsize SUV, especially Ford and Toyota. I have two friends, one of whom owns the Ford, the other owns the Toyota. Once they both got into my Chevy, they were amazed. They were also very upset that they hadn't gotten the Suburban. They said it had a better build quality, more power (than the Toyota), better handling and more comfort!
2001 Chevy 2500 LT 4x4
Great SUV for a family with kids. Feels like you own the road when driving. Roomy inside is fantastic, although gas mileage is poor. I have the K2500 LT 4x4, and could have really gone with a K1500... ego made that purchase decision. Bench seats are nice with little kids. I did have a minor problem with my transmission while it was still under warranty, but the dealership handled it. Downside? Parking. Hard to squeeze into parking spots, but I knew that going into the purchase. Would definitely own another one.
