Used 2001 Chevrolet S-10 Extended Cab Consumer Reviews
Could Be Better
Fast, enjoyable vehicle. Well maintained vehicle when I purchased with 95,000 miles. No rust. Great work truck!
Great work truck for the $
Bought used 2001 Chevy S10, LS trim, extended cab, V6, automatic transmission with 117k miles on it in March 2020. Runs great. Retired in 2021. With this severe drought in California, I have been laying bricks/paving stones where grass once grew to conserve water. This little truck has hauled thousands of bricks/paving stones, sand and rock without a problem. I had looked into buying a used Toyota with a 20R engine. Sellers of those Toyota trucks manufactured in the 80s wanted triple what I paid for the 2001 S10. The S10 has performed so well for me that I decided to replace all the gaskets/seals. This 20+ year workhouse was leaking fluids, which is fine if only parked on the street. However, I wanted to be able to park it in my garage. As we rapidly approach 2023, I am planning to drive my S10 from Los Angeles to New York in spring/summer 2023. It is time for me and my wife to travel post Covid 19 and explore the national park system in this S10 .

Great Truck
I bought this truck with 15,000 miles on it and now have just over 155,000. This has been one o my best vehicle purchases. This truck has taken a lot of abuse and handled it well. I do a lot of hauling but have only had to do the front brakes once and have never done the rear. Intake gasket at 120,000 and o2 sensors at 150,000. No other repairs needed. Very well built. Great purchase.
2001 Chevrolet S-10
When I purchased this vehicle used in 2004 it had 38,000 miles. It has always started and has been one of the most reliable vehicles that I have owned. The 4.3 engine has excellent power and I have towed a 16' boat through the hills of Maryland and Pennsylvania with no problems whatsoever. The vehicle gets about 20 to 21 miles per gallon, and other than tires and brakes, the only thing that I replaced was a power steering pump.
S10...I wish they still made them
I have very few problems with this truck. I have the 4.3L which has plenty of power. Like every GM product I've owned, you can't beat the powertrain! I get about 22 to 24 on the highway, can't complain about that. (I'm no light foot). I have the sport pack, fatty tires, sport suspension, custom wheels, it still turns heads! The only complaints I have are: 3rd door handle-I've broken 3,not replacing it again! 3rd door/driver door rattle bad together...really bad! The CD player does whatever it wants to. It might play the disk or spit it out for no reason or just keep trying to read it and then spit it out. I still love the truck and would buy another...keep the Colorado!
