If you by used dealers charge way more than its worth. Motor troubles at 70000 even if you maintain. Buy it out right do not finance otherwise make sure you have at leat 5000 stocked away for car emergencies. Make sure you get a good warranty dont go with C.A.R.S PLUS PROTECTION they dont cover much. This car will give you financial blues . Brake sysytem too sensors are no if good. If you have children steer clear!!!!!

Not Comfortable-Don't buy it!

This was the least comfortable car I have ever owned. The seats were hard and the seams cut into the lower back and tail bone. The interior cabin was noisy and we could hear all the road noise and feel every road bump. We traded it in after about 7 months and LOST over 12,000 in resale value! I would not recommend this car to my worst enemy!

The car is new, so too soon to tell if it will stand up to the test of time. I like the look of the car. Seats not great, could be more comfortable. Love the on star feature. When I needed help with getting a spare the Chevy dealership, and the Chevy corporate headquarters was very unresponsive. I would hate to have to deal with them over a really serious issue, they just don't seem to care once your out the door and they have your money.

I love this car - looks, ride, quiet, comfort and I have had absolutely no problems. I currently have 14,000 miles on it and I have had it a year. My major disappointment comes when it comes to milage my overall average mpg on this car since new is 22 mpg overall (yes I have tracked every tank). I never speed and drive very casual and this is the first car EVER that I could not achieve the advertised mpg on. I got rid of a car that would do 27 mpg all day long on the highway and 23-24 city. This car gets under 20 in town and 27-28 hwy. I ask EVERYONE I see and they all say the same thing - anyone on here that says it will do any better does not know how to track milage. 4cyl

TRACTION SYSTEM failed and poor gas millage

poor gas millage on a 4 cylinder 19-23mpg mostly hwy miles. traction and break control systems failed causing accident. this is an unsafe car. car under warranty 34000 miles. GM response less than helpful. GM black box was tested for and showed no accident infomation but driver side airbags failure in reality drivers door crushed in. Car under warranty was taken by me and GM to several dealerships, SUNSHINE CHEVROLET tech told me by the codes the two parts that would have causes the issues. GM made by back and now SUNSHINE CHEVROLET won't service the new chevrolet.

Purchased a few months ago. Already put on 4,000 miles. It's a very comfortable car Me being 6'6" I fit quite well. Although anyone who sits behind me had better be quite short! Monique as she is rightfully named is a snappy accelerator, corners fantastically, and I love the clad wheels. Trunk is huge. I had taken a trip to Frankfot KY. and I averaged 37.7mpg!! with a full trunk At times the remote start is finicky, but no complaints. She was a lease car before I bought her. The driver seat is kind of like crumpled near the door, which is causing a tear. Which is very disappointing. Considering my 02 Impala had over 230,000 on it and no rips or tears.

low speed shake

I like the car but, ever since it was new it has a shake at low speed when I accelerate from a stop. It only happens when a person is in the passenger front seat. I took it into the dealer for the second time for this issue and they recommended that they rotate and balance the tires at a cost to $60.00 to me. He told me that would take care of the problem, but it has'nt. If anyone has any solutions for this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Problems to watch for

We have had our Malibu for a year now. The car runs well and gets very good gas mileage out on the open road. Some real problems as we see it. The temp guage that reads the outdoor temp., it is designed not to work. It will work when you get in and go to town but then it will read that same temp until you have gone over 35mph for 5 miles or 15 minuets or something like that or if your car sits for more than 3 hours. If you stay in town the whole day it will stay on the original temp of the morning even if it goes up 40 degrees. Why I ask but GM said it was designed that way. Then there is the issue of not being able to chain the car up. Also the rear head rests obstruck your view.

Wonky transmission, poor paint quality, and overall drabness drove me to switch to an Asian-made vehicle for the first time in my life.

Another Classic Chevy !

Love at first sight, purchased my 2011 in 2013 with 36k on the odometer. Water pump failed in 2015. It is now 2023 and currently 119,300 miles on the odometer. This Malibu LTZ has a 3.6L vvt V6. This chevy has all the options and sunroof. I have always wanted what this car has become. A dream come true, a classic Chevrolet ! I love my Malibu. The model option on this page does not give a button for a 3.6L V6. That just confirms to me that this is a special car. Now where did i put those racing stripes?

I bought my 2011 Chevrolet new, and it now has almost 210,000 miles on it. It is truly the most reliable car I have ever owned. Other than regular maintenance; oil changes, new tires, replacement batteries as needed, etc., there have been no other issues with my Malibu. No engine problems, and everything still works well. I’m expecting and hoping to drive it for years to come.

Dangerous

Christmas of 2020 i bought a 2011 Ltz, with only 27,400 miles on it. The car is in mint condition inside and out, but the crazy thing i can't figure about this car is the handling. The body roll is so terrible i can if I try roll that sucker on its side going about 10 miles per hour. I have so far changed all struts and springs, and today, replace a tie rod and sway bar link to driver side. The knuckles were so bad I just can not understand how a car that has never been driven in 10 years can have this problem. The changes I have made so far has not diminished the body roll. I can easily rock the steering wheel right and left just a hairline and make this car feel like I'm on the ocean in the midst of tsunami. I will be taking her in for an alignment because of replacing tie rod, etc. I am convinced there is a bigger issue here with body roll. I will be taking it in for a full underbody inspection. Anyone who's experienced similar please, feel free to comment.

This has been worst car I have ever owned. So bad in fact I will never buy gm ever again. Transmission, ac,fuel pump,Transmission, electrical, timing belt rotor,Drivers side lock not working, the list does in fact keep going. If your headlight goes out,my gosh its a flipping nightmare, you have to take the bumper off to replace it.General motors will have you constantly working on your car.Stay away from all, including them overpriced trucks that breakdown in the master cylinder. I owned a honda civic ,and a ford focus before this car,and if i took all the money spent on just maintenance, it still wouldn't hold a candle to the money wasted on this car.

Avoid at all cost Chevrolet Malibu

I bought this car Dec 2019. 1st thing I change the oil. Drove fine for 3 month. Then the nightmare started - Random Misfires. Change the spark plug, coil, crank shafts sensor, front and back camshaft sensors, intake and exhaust - spent over $1,500. The random misfires code still on. Took to a different mechanic - replaced timing chain - finally fixed the issue $2,700. Drove for a month afterwards; the car start leaking oil; went to a mechanic estimated cost $1,800; at that point; less than 7 month since I bought it; I was RIP & never ever buy Chevrolet. I drove the car to a dealer & trade in for Honda Insight. Stay away from Malibu. Chevrolet put neither the time nor the effort in manufacturing those cars. The worst car I ever owned.

This car is a pain in the A - - -. I have already voiced my dis like of the seats. And mentioned the annoying "low pressure" warning about the tires. After receiving and E mail advising the tire pressures are low, I check with my tire gauge and sure enough one tire has 15 lbs, another has 20 lbs., another has 12 lbs and the last has 25 lbs. WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY. !!!!!!! I have never had this problem with any car I have owned. Question: Are the tires crap? Are the wheels at fault, what is going on ? And the fuel mileage is still only 23 to 24 mpg, NOT 30 !!!!! My Nissan gets 32 mpg around town. What a piece of junk. GM should be ashamed. I have contacted GM customer service and they just
