My 2006 Impala

I just bought a used fleet 2006 Impala from Carmax with 7666 miles. I'm thrilled with the car and Carmax. I looked and drove many cars this year mostly via Avis Rental Car while traveling. Malibu and Impala stood out of all other models driven. Almost bought Malibu however found Impala LT with XM radio for less than lowest used malibu price.

Great Deal

Purchased the car just before Thanksgiving to replace the old one that was past its time (the rust finally got to it). Have no complaints or problems with the car. Been getting an average of 25 mpg in the city and on the longer drives right around 29, although I'll admit I'm a a bit of a leadfoot. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

I bought my Impala LT2 brand new. It now has just over 46K miles. It is a very comfortable car with tons of luggage space in the trunk. The rear seats are roomy. The 3.9L engine has plenty of power. The only irritating thing is the intermittent clicking noise that comes from the left side just below the driver's footboard. Other than the clicking noise, it is a very reliable car.

This is my first new car purchase in 15 years. I think it is one of the best if not the best for the money in it's class. The V6 gives you plenty of power and all around looks are impressive. Plenty of room for 4 or 5 people and very comfortable interior. I love the remote start feature although I have had a problem with it when there is ice on the car. Overall a 10 !

If I should be happy getting 13 years and 130,000 out of this car, then so be it. But it was a bumpy journey. Was one of the first of this redesign. Best part of the car was the Bose sound system. Worst part, the transmission. Dealer would not recognize there was a design issue there. Had difficulty getting going into first gear. Finally after a complete failure, discovered the code for an internal pressure switch was causing the problems. If the dealer would have recognized this at 70,000 the car would still be running. Engine leaked oil all over my garage floor constantly, but was too expensive to repair, so just kept adding oil. Power was great, traction control and anti lock brakes were great. Paint was great. Versatility was great. Looking at the 2019 Impalas, but the dealers wouldn't even look at a good deal. So it's time to go foreign.
