Transmission problems

I bought the car because I thought it would make a nice go to work car and be reliable. Ive had nothing but trouble with it. The transmission has had a jerking problem since it was new that the dealer wouldn't fix because they said their computer said there was nothing wrong with it. The radio went bad. They didn't want to fix that until I got beligerent with them. It has a coolant leak that they cant find, so that is still leaking. Unhappy customer!

Reliability

Power steering hose came off and replaced, water pump went out at only 60,000. Left front wheel bearing going out. Rust behind the trunk metal trim line. Front brakes and rotors replaced at 54,000. Possibly a head gasket needs to be replaced in another 10,000 miles. To be short you get what you pay for. I'm sure an 08 or 09 model is reliable though. Don't purchase a 2006 3.5L. If you have extra cash and like to perform your own work on your vehicle you would love this model.

The Perfect Car!

2006 Chevrolet Impala SS 4dr Sedan (5.3L 8cyl 4A)

This car is absolutely perfect. I bought it early Janurary as a second car. I thought I would like my Honda Accord better, but this Chevy has proven me wrong. I drive a lot, so I like to own two cars to spread out the mileage. However, I cannot stop driving my Impala. The Honda sits in the driveway, this one is just that much better. The engine is fast, the brakes are unbelievable. My brother has an LS version, that is the one with the V6, and he says it is still a nice engine. I like the SS look of this car, I would recommend it to anyone.

Very Disappointed in the Fuel Mileage

I have owned 3 Suburbans and still have two of them. The choice to go to a car for fuel mileage brought me to the Impala. It was still a good sized car that was suppose to get 27 mpg and had pretty good safety rating. The mileage has been a huge disappointment. I tell everyone that asks that Chevy states they have all these cars that get 30 mpg but don't believe it. Our local dealer first blamed by tire pressure (it was 1 lb low). Then all they can say is the test were done in a wind tunnel and not in real conditions. I have wrote Chevy and no response. That's customer service. Not sure I will every by Chevy again.

I just bought a used fleet 2006 Impala from Carmax with 7666 miles. I'm thrilled with the car and Carmax. I looked and drove many cars this year mostly via Avis Rental Car while traveling. Malibu and Impala stood out of all other models driven. Almost bought Malibu however found Impala LT with XM radio for less than lowest used malibu price.
