Disappointed Owner

I purchased my 04 Impala brand new and the first year of owning the vehicle I thought it was the best car I ever owned. Year 2 I had to replace the speedometer and the radio, year 3 tie rod, rear hub assembly. Year 4 I had to replace the water pump, rebuild the transmission, and now I am having issues with the coolant system! All in all a major disappointed with GM products, especially a vehicle with a $26,000 sticker price! This is my second Impala, as I had one in 2003 that was wrecked, and I thought this car would last 10 years with no troubles! Boy was I surprised!!!! Chevrolet you need to get it together or I'll have to consider buying a Toyota or Nissan!

This is a quality car. Its good looking, affords reasonable mileage, rides and handles well. The price was very good, with my GM card refund and the $3000 cash back I got a fully loaded car at a very reasonable price. I've had several Chevys over the years and have found them to be reliable sedans.

We bought this car with everything but the sunroof. It handles great, drives smooth, and is all around the best car I've owned. Time will tell going forward on how it lasts. Love the design it's the best of both worlds, luxury and sport. Paid 25,100 with everything but the sunroof. Super deal.Don't let the dealers give you the invoice price. Mine went 800 below invoice. Don't know.

I bought a base impala with a fake rag top which really sets the car off. I always get 33 mph on long trips and 23 in the city. I have a terrible back problem and this car does not hurt me on long trips. Plenty of room inside and the trunk. I was not even a bit hesitant in the purchase. The light driftwood metalic type paint job shines like day one. Love, love, love this car.

The Chevrolet Impala, Hmm hmm hmm. Where do I start. The exterior design is boring to say the least. The interior design even more boring. The heater/AC vents have all broken on my car (Thanks GM for really putting some effort into designing this car) I bought this car used in 2007. Right after I bought it the AC broke and the water pump went out. About $500 in repairs. What else is wrong with this car that shouldn't be: The cigarette lighter went out, the rear defroster went out, the back right window stopped rolling up, I had to replace the front wheel bearing assembly. Ohh and now it makes a loud annoying squeaking sound coming straight from the serpentine belt.

Most of the variations of the impalas I've driven have been very good and dependable. The one I have just bought recently seems to be very dependable. It has been well maintained other than rock chips all over the hood, (former owners lived on a dirt and gravel road). It has a lot of miles, mostly long distance highway travel. The paint seems to be original and other than being enamel instead of lacquer, it has a quality paint job. The interior is very pleasing to the eye, except for the carpet. The exterior and steering wheel that should be a dark Gray or black color. I'd buy all I could find of them if I could afford to (most would be used for passenger transportation in a shuttle business).

I bought with 34K miles and now have 156K. I have replaced wheel bearings at 90K and brakes a few times. Issues I am having now is traction control light on, ABS, Check engine. The security light comes on when I try to start it and it won't let me start for 10-15 minutes. It has never left me stranded and gets 30 mpg. Driver seat has no lumbar support. Heating element in driver seat went out at 55K.

I've had my '02 Impala for 9 years and it's been the greatest thing I've ever owned. I've spent very little over the years on repairs. Yes there have been a few expensive ones, but only a few, and even then I wonder if I was just getting ripped off. The value of this car has been amazing. I live in Colorado and it has also been absolutely excellent in the snow. For its age/price it also has a nice interior. There are other used cars in this value range that look jankier than the Impala does inside. It's older but it still feels like you're in a nice car. Also, the speakers were SLAMMIN when I first got this. They are not working anymore and I miss them dearly. But they are SO much better than anything you could find in a new, decently affordable car. When I'm done with my current Impala I'm buying another just like it, hands down. Would never ever buy a new car over a used older Impala due to the low cost of ownership and long life. I'm so grateful they're still around!

Have had very few break downs, only problem have been the brakes but it is not that much of a problem. Also it gets pretty good gas mileage for a 4dr Sudan. Though I found the default radio deck controls kind of confusing at first, as I am use to simpler buttons, but there not that hard to understand.

I got this car used with 40k. The ride is smooth and you don't feel the bumps unless they are huge. The engine is underpowered for the car at only 180 hp. The seats are comfortable but the middle seat connects to the driver seat which is stupid. The interior is very boring and cheap with cheap plastics and no features, it came with a tape player, so I had to get a CD player. The exterior is nice, esp. the tailights, the paint has a nice shine. The trunk is huge, so you have lots of room for things. Reliable, starts up 1st try. Routine maintenance, wear an tear. The brakes are bad, put hard on to stop, and need replacing often. Other than that turn signals, rack/pinoin lubricating, muffller

Speedometer went out at 66,000 miles ($379.93). Light went out on climate control, have to replace whole unit ($336.60). Sometimes windshield wipers don`t work at all. Or won't shut off. Service Traction System light comes on occasionally, then does upon restarting. It seems to me that there is some kind of electrical issue with these cars, as many people experience the same problems.

Handling superb -- compares favorably to the 2003 Nissan Maxima. 280 ft-lbs torque really gets your attention. Little body roll for a car this big. Very tight suspension and seventeen inch wheels make it very sporty. Reliability should be good (at least, compared to domestic or European automobiles,) as the 3.8L engine has been around since the late '80s. Complaint: Chevy doesn't know how to design an plush interior. Buick leather is much nicer, the interior just has too much plastic, and bucket seats need a little more lateral support. The XM Satellite Radio, however, was a nice touch.

My mom bought this car new in 2004 for a really good price. It's a sturdy, good running, reliable car. However, the quality over the years has been terrible. The gas gauge went, the speedometer went, and the temperature gauge went. These I never got fixed because it would cost 450 dollars each to fix. Also, a security sensor went bad, and the car wouldn't start. That I had to pay for. It cost 450 dollars to fix. Also the dim switch went bad on the headlights. Had to get that fixed. Another 450 dollars!! This all happened by 80,000 miles. The gauges went bad at about 40,000 miles. This car was the worst in quality I have ever owned! Other than those things, the car is fine. It runs good.

I saw one in the parking lot, on the TV and ordered one for myself after looking at the review. I was very impressed with the overall pleasent design change and they got away from the "Hot Rod" engines. I get 22.5 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway, better if I took my foot off of the gas and no A/C. I love this car. I would buy another, but think I should keep the one I bought. I bought a 2000 Impala LS with a sunroof and lots of extras.

I bought my 2004 Chevrolet Impala in 2008. I was reluctant to buy it because of the intake gasket problems on the 3.4 litre V6 engines GM made. So far I haven't had any problems with it. What I love about this car is its simplicity, and comfort. It has responsive acceleration, and the controls are simple and easy to use. The steering is tight, and the car overall is solid. I bought it with 57000 miles on it. I now have 98000 miles on it. I have been impressed so far.

My Impala has been on two road trips in excess of 1000 miles each. The car handled extremely in mountainous terrain as well as on flat plains. Fuel economy was far geater than I expected and it is a pleasure to drive even after being in the car for over eight hours at a time. The roominess of the Impala was far better than expected. Overall I would give the Impala LS a rating of 9 of 10 points. I cannot say what the reliability of the vehicle is going to be but, I am confident that it is going to be great.

Bought the car with 36,000 miles. Rides Nice. Handles good. At 66,000 miles now and so far we had to replace intake gaskets (oil leaking into antifreeze) $650, water pump$200, steering $138 ( clunked when turning) and now p. C. M module in transmission $779 (shifting hard when cold or going up hill) and a wheel bearing! By reading comments from other people, all have had the same issue. Some not. Wow the impala use to be bulletproof

The only difference between the 03 and 04 LS appears to be the price, about $2K more after rebates and discounts. For the $2K GM could of at least added head airbags. Otherwise, they should just keep making the 03's.

After driving a 97 Lumina over 110,000 miles with absolutely no trouble and excellent gas mileage I decided to try the Impala. So far this car has also been trouble free. Gas mileage is much better than the EPA rating. I've owned a Honda Accord which was a good car but I did have a few minor problems with. As long as I keep getting trouble free Chevys I'll keep buying them.

I have owned many different vehicles over the years, but my 2004 Impala that I own now has been wonderful. It had 51K miles on when I bought it, but it has been completely dependable. Living in Minnesota with the sometimes extreme weather conditions, it has always started on the first try and gotten me thru to where ever I was going no matter what the road conditions. I have driven it to Florida 4 times and the gas mileage averaged out at 39mpg on the open road! I have had to replace the water pump, tires, a gasket, and the dash computer chip; but I love this car. I hope to have many more years with my Impala! I know I can depend on it.

04 impala LS/3.8L/90k miles. CClunking in steering wheel, ABS/traction control lights coming on at random, ABS pump coming on at random, cruise control malfunction, loud whining when I turn. I replaced all rotors and brakes, replaced struts, new tires replaced front wheel hubs, alternator, "greased intermediate steering shaft" and aligned wheels. Car still has a slight shake when I drive, still getting the ABS/TC light, ABS pump still engages AND still a light occaisional clunk in the steering column. even went back myself with a multi meter to check each hub individually to see if a sensor failed and check for bad wiring. Checked out OK. I found the problem. All substandard components.
