Oil Burner

After 3 years, burns oil repeatedly. Dealership says it is allowed to burn 3/4 Qt. every 1000 miles. If you do not check your oil every 1000 miles you will you will damage your engine period. You cannot see oil in the exhaust and you will have no oil leaks underneath that you can see. No engine light will come when it is low. Worst engineered car I have seen in my 45yrs of driving new cars.

Car Blows Up After Slow Speed Front End Collision

I had extended factory warranty repair work done on a stabilitrac sensor issue. I was told it was a high pressure fuel pump issue. Less than two weeks after the warranty repair work was done through Carmax, I was in a low speed fender bender in bumper to bumper traffic in Houston. I pulled the vehicle off the road to exchange information and when I walked less than 30 feet from the car the engine caught fire. Flames 4 feet high coming off the hood. In less than a minute after that, the engine exploded and engulfed the front half of the car in flames. The entire car was destroyed in less than the time it took for the fire department to get there. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone. I got it because I thought it was safe. Coincidence that GM implemented front end collision warning sensors on their new models? I don't think so. I would not put my mother in this car. Another few moments in that car and I would have been burned alive.

Oil consumption/ electronic problems. . Again

Bought equinox because it was an suv we thought would work well for us(122 on the miles then, now has 141 ) It did fine for a while but one day traveling from Indianapolis to Florida, I noticed there is a ticking on the top of the engine. I am Mechanically inclined, mind you. First thing I did was check the oil level. It was 2 quarts low! This concern me, so I kept checking and later realize the engine was eating oil. I guess this is a common problem with the 2.4 engine. I went from the factory recommended 5w30 to 10-40 and tha helped, but didn’t stop oil consumption. Then there was a series of political electrical problems. And trust me I know what where parts are. Battery, starter, fan inside the cab, and now a code comes up about the stability control, which has led to the vehicle not running at all. All this within three months. It’s funny I had similar problems to the 2010 Chevy Malibu I had before the equinox. Will be the last GM product I buy for quite some time. Toyota? Nissan? Anything but a GM product.

2013 Chevy Equinox

I bought an original Equinox a 2005 when the first came out (which I loved) so when I was in need of another car I knew I would go to another Equinox. This car has been one problem after another. 1) During a family trip the wiper motor stopped working during a horrific rain storm ( luckily went to an awesome dealer wished I lived in that state). 2) the transmission went on my way to get groceries the original dealer wasn't real accommodating so had to go another which was ok - wasn't great experience and 3) now while driving its stalls - really how safe is this car. I'm so scared to get it in now - I can't express my disappointment in Chevy & GM

I bought my used 2013 equinox in may 2015. Had it almost 1 year. I love it. There are a few things I would like to see changed in future models. Like rear seat climate control. That would be great for the Arizona summers. Also rear seat audio headphone port and dvd. Also a usb port right up near the stereo. Another thing, the seats don't go down low enough. I'm 5.7, and I would like the seat to go down lower. But even with the above mentioned suggestions, I really love this car. I love the electonics. The size of the seats. The room in the car is great. I love being a bit higher off the ground. The cargo space is great. Smooth ride. Nice interior. But like I said the biggest negative for me is that the 2013 doesn't have rear seat climate control. So my rear passages nearly have heat stoke when driving with me during the Arizona summer. It takes about 20 minutes until the air conditioning makes its way to the back seat. And usually by then, we are already at our destination. I researched and I don't believe the newer models have rear climate control, but I could be wrong. If they dont, they need to add it. If Chevys engineer/designers lived 1 summer in Az, they would definatly add it.
