First and last GM Car

There is no other way to say it except to say GM lied about the mpg. The only time i ever achieved 32 mpg was driving 45 mph, by myself with no AC. And i drive like a grandma. The transmission is not at all smooth, and at times when shifting vibrated the entire car. Just listen to one idling in the parking lot with the AC on. It sounds terrible. I took a huge loss and dumped this car after 14,000 miles. I am amazed that GM was able to get away with advertising 22/32 mpg. I am not a big conspiracy theorist, but on this one, i don't have any other explanation. I have owned more than 15 cars. This is the first one i have ever owned where i couldn't get anywhere near the advertised mpg

Almost a year I have had my 2011 equinox and still nothings changed I really regret this vehicle this is the worst GM vehicle Ive ever had. Til this day the fuel ecomony sucks whats so go about this, my 2006 chevy uplander was a v6 and had better fuel economy. I got the equinox for the fuel consumption had I known all of this I would never of got this vehicle. Driving this vehicle is another story now it hesitates almost as if the vehicle was thinking what to do, also lack of power I did my recall nothings really changed. GM must do something about this it is their vehicle but they wont stand behind it Ive driving GM all my life and have been very proud but this might be my last.

DO NOT BUY FOR GAS MILAGE

I have had my Equinox for over 6 months now and have yet to see a 32mpg. It has been more like 24 . I had a large SUV and went down in size for gas milage. Wish I had my big SUV back. Iam probably only getting maybe 5 miles to the gal more, that is on the highway, and I have given up alot of room and a comfortable ride. No rear air in 100 degree weather in Texas is not good either. On the plus side, it is good looking, and easier to park.

Don’t buy it!

I bought myself this car for when I had kids. A month after I bought it i found out I was pregnant. Loved this car for the first few month. No problems but then the windshield wiper transmission went out. Not that big of a deal to me at the time. Then I had a speed sensor go out. All within a year of buying the car. Then just after Christmas of 2017 and a few days after I found out I was pregnant again the engine blew. I had my 5 month old in the car and it was during a cold snap of temps below 10 degrees. Towed it to the dealership and after $800 in diagnostic work told me i needed a whole new engine that would cost $8000. A pressure release valve got too much moisture in it and froze and caused piston 1 to blow. This valve is located in the engine but Chevy would not cover it under the warranty. Thankfully my dad is a mechanic so I was able to buy an engine for around $2500 and he put it in. But now I have a temperature sensor that keeps going out! This car has been nothing but problems and I can’t wait to get rid of it.

Nightmare engine issues

You may want to read some of the experiences of 2011 buyers who are having problems with the 4-cyl engine making noises at startup and stalling. Check out the Edmunds town hall messages. GM has not been so good about getting a solid fix for the 2011′s as best as I can tell from the posts. Maybe they have gotten in front of the issues with the 2012 but I have not been able to find any press releases or statements saying they have. If I had read the Edmunds board before buying my Equinox 3 months ago I would be avoiding the nightmare I am in now.
