My Chevy Cruze one year anniversary

Brennan, 01/09/2018
2015 Chevrolet Cruze LS 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 6A)

I purchased this car back in August of 2016 with 19,900 miles on it. I have now owned it for about a year and a half and I am at about 38,300 miles. In a way, it kind of "just happened" but I've had my eyes on a cruze and have done a lot of research about a year prior to purchasing it. I believe it was meant to be, and oh boy am I glad it was. I'll start with the exterior. I think it looks great from just about all angles, and it has just enough of a "sporty" look to it so it could bat some eyes every now and then. I really enjoy the daytime running LED's as well (a feature which is standard on 2015 models and up). Now lets talk interior. The inside looks just as nice as the car does on the outside. At night, you can really notice and appreciate the stylish light blue lighting that spreads across the infotainment and gauge cluster. I only own the LT model so I don't have any of the fancy bells and whistles, but I will say- compared to other base model cars for around the same price as my Cruze, I'd say Chevy definitely takes the cake. Many, if not all buttons are plastic which was to be expected and none of them have broken on me to date. The seats are decently comfortable, although I do notice my lower back starting to feel uncomfortable after extended trips. Rear seats don't have too much going for them other than a car charging port and a fold down cup holder/armrest located in the middle of the back seat. A very nice touch. Rear visibility is only somewhat of an issue when backing up out of parking lots due to the rear windshield being positioned higher up than some other cars, however other than this I haven't had any complaints about it. Cargo space is great with the exception of the center console. Its about half the size of a standard size one, and this is probably due to space restraints because it's a "compact sedan". There are "pocket spaces" in the driver and passenger seats, as well as both rear seats as well. The front seat pocket spaces are larger than the rear ones. The glove box space is pretty standard, it can fit a good amount of miscellaneous things here and there. Trunk space is definitely a 10/10, very large for the cars size. I love it. I've only had one repair on the car and that was the driver side window regulator. It must have went out of alignment with the window itself. I used it on a very cold day and the window was frozen shut. I'm probably somewhat at blame for this because I kept trying and trying until it seemed to bust. It was still under warranty at the time, but I think the cost on the invoice was about $100-$130 for it. Maybe less. Other than that, I've had no repairs needed on the car since and the regular maintenance costs are low. Nothing that's broken the wallet (so far). Overall, i'd definitely recommend this car to any first time buyers or younger buyers. I am a college student who travels to and from home quite often and it is a very smooth ride, especially on the highway. You'll also love the great gas mileage. I get about 35 on the highway which is great.

Don’t let size fool you !

When I first bought my 2015 cruze I was a little set off by the size and the back seat room coming from an SUV. I would never look back. I bought my cruze winter of 2015 and with coming from an suv I was worried about front wheel drive but it handled just fine. One thing I love about the cruze is the quality of it, this car has such great quality between the solid slam of the door to the firm knobs on the radio. The wide variety of features you get for the money is in beatable. I have a 2LT and I have everything I need, heated seats, leather, touch screen, remote starter, Xm and so much more. The ride quality is super good. Everyday I drive this car is like it’s the first. It handles well around windy curves or just cruising in town. My only complaint with this car is that it can tend to hit bumps a little harder than I’d like but not too bad, the acceleration can lag a little, sometimes I notice some road noise but not bad and last the heat can take a little bit to fully heat up but the heated seats make up for it. Over all this is a great car for so many reasons and I don’t regret buying it at all. I’m definitely a Chevy guy for life now !

Water pump replaced two times in less than a year- (Recall), transmission problems around 24K miles going to the dealer for the second time. Electrical problems- you lose power in your entire internal instruments while driving – Recall. Nice looking car, very comfortable when driving, but is not a reliable at all.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! (if turbo version)

After owning this car for 3 years, I'm so thankful I purchase the extended warranty, I have claimed this warranty at least 12 times, This last time I have drove my car 6 days in the last month since its been at the chevy dealership for repairs, so far a few things I've had to replace 3 turbos, water pump, all things connecting to water pump, battery, positive battery cable, gas pedal, starter, two electrical boxes on top of the battery, and blown head gasket, overflow jug, and its just keeps on going, This car is NOT dependable. If they fixed the issues that these cars have it would be a great car!(which now they wont since this car is no longer made) I love the car if it didn't have all these issues and i could drive it on a daily without fear of it not starting or starting and dying. Oh and the resale value is awful, trade in value is even worse, keep shopping I promise there are better options.

CRUZE this A+ Review

About 3 months shy of 2 yrs owning this cruze. Extremely surprised and happy with performance. Worry free transportation. 26,000 miles now. Eagerly making an effort to get this one paid off so my daughter can have it by Christmas so I can get a new 2017 Cruze. Nothing but positive words about Ancira Chevrolet. We have enjoyed having the confidence to go on an extended 6,000 mile road trip and countless 800 mile round trips to Alpine (college) and back to San Antonio. UPDATE: Sept 2017: 35,000 miles, regular services, never had a problem with anything. Extremely happy, with full intentions of grabbing one of the 17s, what with all the great reviews. For gas saving and a sporty look, you won't beat the Cruze.

The car is relatively comfortable, long trips seem to come to realize the stiffness of the front seats, back is kinda small and im 5'7". Brakes tend to be touchy in the morning and will stop overly quick when not carefull. The big one from me is the security system seems to engage even after unlocked to key turned. This will not alow the vehicle to start and simply makes the car sound like the battery has died. (Battery check and passed) I purchased this second cruze after just under two year with the prior one, no issues with my 2013(should of kept it. I wanted to be assured and was confident that during they time my fiance was traveling to and from college that no issues would happen thus new car no problems right. Well wrong, now after reading several threads online it appears im not the only one with this no start problem, and with a wedding coming up in the next year funds are tight so stopping by the dealer and paying $100 to take a look at what might be causeing the issue and then fixing what may or may not be the problem when bumper to bumper is up will only further the issue of a tight budget. So far we've somewhat learned to work around the constant resetting of the dash and slow crank if it does, or even putting the vehicle in nutral to resolve a start. If your going to by this car anti theft is probably a no go, just install your own alarm. Way less headaches. Continuation: after just over a year and a half a few more issues popped up. The window tabs that actually keep the glass in place broke and so a call to the local Chevy parts department was made. Needless to say amazon and YouTube were the end result with sixty dollars spent and a quick twenty minute install. I can’t imagine the repair department charging me less. Shortly there after my now wife was driving back from college and the Cruze began to over heat and vehicle instrument panel told her to turn off the car. I of course was out of town on training. This instantly infuriated me as the whole reason behind the second purchase was to have a reliable vehicle even when I wasn’t there. A friend I’m blessed to have rushed to my wife’s aid and found that the coolant level was very low. After a quick trip to the parts store and fluids topped off it was back on the road. Once I was back I looked into the issue. I found that there was a small crack in a coolant return hard line just before the thermostat. Again a call to the dealer part store lost to amazon and YouTube. Again a twenty minute swap and all was well right? Wrong A week to the day upon driving in to our residents same over heat and request to shit down. Again fluids were low, only this time I found that the overflow reservoir was cracked as well. Both went unseen due to the vehicle needing to be on for a puddle to form under the vehicle as pressures in the lines built up. So when parked over night there was never any cause for concern. A quick amazon order later and new fluids added botta bing botta boom done. Cruze drove well after that until the big move. We begin driving north some six to eight hundred miles away looking for a new place to live seeing as I accepted a new employment opportunity. One our way back one afternoon an absolute down poor soaked everything in sight. While I was drive during one of the heavy portions I noticed the traction control lights would come on during the drive and it felt as though I was loosing steering control and the car would drift right. After several stints with that issue it was decided to let go of our gas saver and move on. In June of 2018 we said good bye to the Cruze and good bye to Chevy as it was the last time I’d purchase from that brand.

I traded my chevy spark for the cruze and was pleasantly surprised. it is the most solid, smooth, and quiet cars I have ever driven. The outside looks like a leveled down bmw but with more character, the inside feels way more upscale than any chevy I ever owned. I feel more confident as a driver because of the driving dynamics, handling, excellent acceleration and breaking. I'm so glad I discovered the cruze.

In July of 2015 I found I found myself on the hunt for a new car. I needed something cheaper as a new car was not in the budget. I purchased a 2015 Cruze LS from Sunrise Chevrolet in Memphis, TN. This is a smaller car then what I have been used to but I have gotten used to it. I am so shocked that a base model has so much technology. I love the hands free Bluetooth, the XM Radio, OnStar... all of it! During the free OnStar / XM trial I realized that I had not programmed radio channels as I never used the radio. XM is GREAT! The Navigation thru OnStar is simply amazing! I read a review that one person said they were not even getting 30mpg on the highway... I am. In fact, With my cruise set to 70 on the highway I average about 38mpg. That in itself is awesome! I have been so pleased with this car. 8 months into ownership, I am so happy I made this decision. I bought mine new and the GM warranty and 2 yr service at no cost was a pleaseant surprise. GM, you did well! Now, I want the new body style!

I just purchased a new 2015 Chevy Cruze LS Automatic, and I absolutely love it. My mother has a 2014 model, and she loves it as well. The Cruze is a fine choice for anyone looking for reliable and comfortable transportation. It is one of the best compact cars out there.

Don’t get me wrong it’s an okay car other than my turbo going out I called a dealership to buy a new one and they are on back order because of how many people are having the same problem that I am having. They told me honestly it should be a recall on them because of the mass of people calling for them. Other than that it’s a good lil gas saving car.

This is not a reliable car. After 50,000 miles you WILL start having issues, it is only a matter of WHEN it will happen, not IF according to other people I've talked to personally, and what I have seen online. I've had to put $1500 into this car recently (cracked valve cover, cracked cooling tubes, turbo issues), and now only 2 months later I have to take it back to the dealership themself to fix another issue that'll probably cost me another $1500. This car is made out of cheap plastic due to General Motors cutting corners to save on costs. I talked to my local mechanic about it and he says that he has a chevy Cruz of this generation in his shop at least once a week. You have been warned.

Since I’ve bought my 2015 Cruze, I’ve had the cam cover break, my intake valve went missing, had endless issues with leaking antifreeze, an oil leak, I had to replace the battery already, replaced the vapor canister, if you have endless supply of money, then I recommend this vehicle

By far the BEST car I have ever owned

This is a good car. In the 5 years I've owned it, aside from routine maintenance (oil changes and tire rotation) it has been absolutely reliable. I use Top Tier gas brands like Shell and BP and 5W-30 Dexos rated motor oil only like ACDelco and Mobil. I know at least 4 people who have a Cruze and they like the car. So I will speak about my own experience. I will not get into technical detail. I will not complain or comment on the buying experience as that is irrelevant to the vehicle quality. This is from my point of view. First off it's extremely good on gas. On the highway, while properly driven I have gotten 40 MPG easy. A recent road trip that was 150 miles total and the car said it used only 3 gallons of gas. Impressive. Local street driving uses more fuel. Fuel quality does matter. This car LOVES Shell and BP midgrade. Don't believe what you read. Gas quality does matter and I avoid generic brands. Of course 87 octane works fine but a step up using 89 octane makes a difference. Overall build quality is excellent. GM has made great improvements in quality and refinement. Car is quiet and ride is smooth. Slight turbo lag from time to time when using regular and none using mid grade. Much better than an Aveo I had which was horrible but not as refined as my Malibu. The interior is tight but rarely carries more than 2 or 3 passengers so that's not an issue. Controls are well laid out and backlit. Which leads me to the entertainment system. The sound quality is good. The radio is clear as a bell and the Sirius XM is a great service. All the bases are covered here. Radio, CD, USB, Bluetooth. One feature I like is that when it detects my daughter's iphone it starts playing her music. Splitting hairs I know but I like it. I subscribe to the On Star Data and basic services. They work as advertised and gives me piece of mind. So time will tell. A car is really good if I'm still raving about it when it is 5 years old. Hondas are overpriced and the Civic is UGLY. Nissans are ugly. Toyota is slipping and plain and overpriced. I avoid Mazdas as they are rustbuckets. Kia and Hyundai are disposables. VW is a girls car and unreliable. Chrysler...well when are they going to fade away? Ford and GM are the big contenders now. They learned their lessons and it shows. Buy American!

Reliable Eco Car

Mr. S, 10/07/2016
2015 Chevrolet Cruze LTZ 4dr Sedan (1.4L 4cyl Turbo 6A)
6 of 9 people found this review helpful

I purchased this LTZ Cruze new with just a handful of miles. I've owned it for 9 months now and currently have 36k miles on the car. First off seating comfort. If it's just for two people it's great. For a family it's not. The back seats are VERY cramped for anyone. However most of the time it's just me and my wife so it suits us just fine. Front seats are fine. I'm 6'6" and fit comfortably. Road trips I have driven it from Nashville, TN to New Orleans, LA and averaged about 38mpg. I seem to only get between 36 - 38mpg when I am on back roads doing 60mph or less. Interstate travel at 70 - 75mph however I tend to get about 30 - 32mpg. I prefer the back roads which suits me fine. And this car loves curvy roads. Handling is quite nice. Very little body roll. And the steering is very tight/sharp. I have also done many trips into the mountains with this car. From Cleveland, TN up to Bryson City, NC to Cherokee/Maggie Valley NC. As well as on up into the mountains around Harlam, KY and Pennington Gap, VA. Again this car loves curves and so far handles mountain climbs without any struggle. My only complaint is the breaks. They do stop, don't get me wrong. However they feel like they could use an upgrade. Sometimes breaking, especially on mountain roads, I can feel vibrations in the brakes. I've been in much heavier cars and other sports cars (mustangs, Trans Ams) and those all had higher stopping power than the Cruze. Since this is probably going to be a car that I'll be keeping for a long time, I may invest in a brake upgrade once the factory ones have served their purpose. My other complaint is typical of most American made cars. Value. The LTZ purchased new, with all the bells and whistles, heated leather seats etc etc costed right at $38k. Resell now, especially with 36k miles on the car would be lucky to get 18k to 20k for it. You get upside down the very minute you drive this one off the lot. Which as stated above, a car that I'll be keeping for quite some time. So know this before investing in a Cruze. You'll need to love it....because you'll be stuck with it. And lastly, another complaint however it seems they fixed it with the 2016 and 2017 models compared to my 2015 one. Performance. I only really notice the performance drag when I am in the mountains. If I am running the A/C while going up mountain/twisty roads, the automatic transmission shifts horribly. Sometimes it feels like it's downshifting into 5th or even 6th gear while I'm still climbing and doing 45. Just for a few minutes to pass and then it'll decide to shift into a lower gear. Easy enough to work around it, switch it to manual mode and do the shifting yourself which is what I do. Minor issue but still worth noting. But all in all, I am happy with the car. It serves it's purpose.

I've had my 2015 Chevy Cruze for just under a year now. I've got around 7k miles on it and really enjoy it. The car drives really well, good handling and "tight" driving feel. The seats are comfortable and the cabin is versatile when it comes to folding down seats to accommodate cargo. The car is good on gas, but I think Chevy can step up their game and push it to do better. I very much like the design of the car and the solid ride it has. I've taken a couple of road trips with it and it proved to be quite comfortable. I was looking for an efficient car that easy to drive/park as I live in the city. I've had zero problems so far and would recommend this car to others. The Cruze has been great.

Be prepared to have it in for servicing a lot. I’ve pretty much paid for a new motor. Mass flow flow sensor, pvc valve, intake manifold gasket just name a few parts. Could be just a ripe off service department which is my guess. Over all a very good car great handling. Has rust protection coating on it. Excellent gas mileage.

I leased this car and I'm going to buy it at the end. It's just a really nice car. It's classy looking. It has perks. It's very comfortable to drive. I've had little or no maintenance on the car. The car is basically silent. I can't hear the engine. It's just a really nice car and I'm going to get it for a decent price!

Absolutely horrible. In 2 years, replaced head gasket, water reservoir, All tire sensors have gone out, battery, locks stopped working, car slips going into reverse, and I still have a check engine light after picking up from the dealership 6 days ago. :( I hate this car! !

I just bought my third Chevy Cruz and first 1LT. My 2012 and 2014 were LS models. While I enjoyed them overall, I missed having cruise control and the engine was sluggish when passing on two lane rural highways. In contrast, the 1LT is very peppy. I immediately felt the difference on my test drive. I'm also very pleased with the amenities: heated mirrors, Pioneer Stereo, WiFi, Blue Tooth, sun roof, etc. These cars are very well appointed. Most importantly, I had absolutely no mechanical issues with the previous two, and am very optimistic about my new 2016. The only criticism is the poor trade-in value. In any event, I highly recommend this wonderful car.

Is the Chevy Cruze the new Tom Cruise?

Brandon, 11/12/2015
2015 Chevrolet Cruze L 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 6M)
9 of 16 people found this review helpful

Award winning, yes; the sound of a F-16 fighter pilot, sort of; the best car of 2015, no. The 2015 Chevy Cruze deserves an overall score of 8/10 stars due to the following evaluations: comfort-ability, performance, and design. Comfort-ability was seen throughout the interior of the sedan. Leather seats accompany the RS style of the sedan with adequate temperature control. Driver and passenger seat warmers are a nice feature—especially on cold winter mornings. The Chevy Cruze lacks in comfort for its seating design; the electronic seats are adjustable, but only to a certain extent. The seat leaves the driver’s head unsupported and situated at a very low level. With its robotic-like led fog lights to the superbly shaped front, the Chevy Cruze isn’t bad looking. However, its not a head turner by any means. The designers fell short with the back of the car, with no distinguishing feature that sets it apart from other sedans on the market. The front end doesn’t look aggressive, or challenging in anyway. The car reminds me of a derpy looking little brother compared to Chevy’s more sought after vehicles. All in all, for the average consumer the Chevy Cruze gets the job done. Performance surprised me, looking at the car you wouldn’t expect 0-60mph to be under 10 seconds. This car isn’t the next weekend drag racer you’d take up to Bandimere, but from point A to point B the torque developed is enough to keep you from feeling like your stuck in the stone age. The gearbox on the automatic transmission is what kills the fun in driving. Chevy needs to revamp its gear-point changes to deliver a smoother and faster response to the gear-shifts. If your looking for a nice, inexpensive means to get a new sedan for the average driver; the Chevy Cruze is a good choice. After two weeks of driving this car, I can say that I had an overall good experience.

Chevys best kept secret

The only thing you should know about this car is that it's amazing! The price of the my 2015 was unbelievably cheap?! You know why? because it's a 6 speed manual transmission. Everyone wants an automatic which what car reviewers complain about. They say it's to laggy or non responsive. Not mine! The manual transmission is the best way to drive this vehicle. Offering low end torque for the inner city stop and go. Again just perfect for what I need to be. The 1.4L turbo charged engine is superb for suburban dwelling. It provides a very torquey feeling when applying more gas. My favorite thing about this car is the gas mileage! Try 26 city and 38 highway. A hybrid or electric car absolutely cannot beat the price of this four door gas saver. The interior is played up and has a very classy feel. The dash contains loads of info like average mpg, mph, distance till empty, and total miles. All in a tap of a button. The buttons for CD, music and radio can seem intimidating and cluttered at first. When you just read the controls you find out there's a button for everything instead of cycling through settings or menus. Easy enough. I have the LT trim and I still feel like a sub par luxury car. My only gripe about this car is the Bluetooth setting. You cannot synch your phone to the car to play music. Only phone calls. To play any kind of music you can use the CD player or an auxiliary cord! Cmon Chevy. Get with the times. No one uses cords anymore. This is the only feature that makes the car feel outdated. Also there is a plug in for electronics that enables you to charge your device(s) conveniently located behind the shift knob next to the emergency brake. Lastly there is one USB connection along with..... An auxiliary port in the center console. One thing to note is the driver leg room and entry. I'm 70" tall and when I try to get in, I've smacked my shin on the edge panel below the steering wheel. OUCH. The leg room leaves much to be desired. On longer straights or highway, I like to put it cruise control and lift my foot/leg off the pedal causing my knee to rest against the temperature knob setting. A little bit uncomfortable but not much to deter me from this car. Some of the highlights of this car is trunk room. By gosh it's huge. Best in class for a SEDAN. A hatchback will be better obviously. Aside from the 5 star safety ratings and ten airbags, this car is pretty safe. A telescoping steering wheel is standard which I enjoy. I know it's a bit scattered but this car is just overall really good. If your looking for a sedan that gets great gas mileage for under 20k then this car is for you. It has many trims to choose from to suit your needs. Chevy has done an excellent job and keeping up with its Japanese competitors. This just might be the next best thing for Chevy cars.

This car is a budget vehicle plain and simple, its not a roomy Suburban or hot rod Z28 Camaro. I bought the car to save my truck from wear and tear, from everyday driving back and forth to work, which is 17,000 a year. Now for the review. The good. Awesome bang for the buck. sporty interior and exterior. Has decent tech, blue tooth, OnStar, sound system, air bags, great visibility around the typical blind spots, plenty of head room, big trunk. 33 to 36 mpg The bad. The engine is a little underpowered, the car with get up and go. Transmission is fine but I find myself skipping 5th gear and straight to 6th gear often, too high of a gear for the underpowered engine to accelerate in a meaningful away (the car could of been a five speed without the 5th gear and with the same ratio). If your a trade in type of person beware this car will have very little trade in value being a compact car and having a manual transmission, dealers would not want this vehicle in their buy here pay here used car lots. Improvement from the cobalt in everyway besides the engine.

My second Cruize. I expect my new 2016 Cruize to be as reliable as my previous 2011. My new 2LT Sports came with just about every features and options there is for I think the best overall price compared to other cars I looked into. Interior and exterior quality is great. The rear view camera display is too bright and hard to see however. Only have 600 miles on it yet but so far no complains.

i rented a Cruze 2015 back in 2015, immediately connected with the car and I decided that at the first opportunity I would buy one. after I bought it, drove it for about a year, put 12000 miles on it. Unfortunately somebody hit my car and was deemed a total loss. but in the short time that I drove the car, it gave no trouble whatsoever. I've had my share of cars over the years, but definitely the cruze 2015 is the best car I've ever owned. For my taste the only thing that prevented me from qualifying it as perfect, it's the fact that could have used a bit more power,(I had the 1.8 l4 engine). Overall for what I used the car (commuter and running weekend errands) it was the best car ever.

After 3 years with the Chevy Cruze, we traded it away but not because we didn't enjoy it. It was the best thing in basic transportation available at the time. We stepped up to more space - something the Cruze doesn't have in abundance. The turbocharged engine delivered far more than anyone would expect looking at even on the highway. The only problems we had were with supplementary parts of the emissions control system. Interior is what you would expect for the class if not a little better. It was a shame that GM shut down production of the Cruze. It may not have made economic sense for them but it was a solid performer in a very competitive segment.

I bought the 2015 cruze new off the lot. Was very reliable until about 140k miles. Then the problems started. First was the valve cover (no biggie). Then the turbo ($2200) at about 150k miles. Then the catalytic converter ($1900) at around 160k miles. The cooling system failed and achieved a warped cylinder ($4000) around 170k miles. Threw a rod at about 175k miles. Probably due to the original catalytic converter issue. Not worth repairing at this point. Steer clear of these cars at high milage if considering purchasing used.

Purchased mine with 58,000 miles and warranty. The car was listed for 12k and I purchased it for 10k. It has every option except Nav - LTZ RS Package. Great handling car but is built to be a economy car with fuel mileage. Check service history and complete all required service and it should last as long as you own it. Service is the key to these cars! I would buy another if it was a low mileage example with a warranty.

We bought this 2015 CVhevy Cruze in May, 2019 that had come off a 4 year Lease. It had about 64000 Km on it. So far it has been a good car bt hd to replace the coolant fan last June. Th gas mileage is not really what you would expect from a smal;er vehicle, get about 25 mpg in ther witer with mostly short trips and about 35 in the summer with longer trips. I got almost that with my 2004 Chev Impala. Unfortunate the Impala needed some costly repairs and choose to move up to a newer car. Hopefully the Cruze will continue to give reiable transportation.

Great on gas. In combined I usually average about 7.1l/100km and in city I average about 8.2l/100km. The infotainment system leaves a bit to be desired as I have had several Bluetooth, screen and back up camera issues, though all have been resolved by simply turning off the car and restarting it. The front seats are supportive, but the rear is very cramped. I appreciate the large trunk and spare tire. I've never had any major issues, and it has been fairly reliable, except for failing window actuators (both the driver and front passenger's broke within a month of each other leaving the window stuck in the door until it was repaired). Steering is light, but extremely responsive, and fairly reminiscent of my older BMW. The brakes are very light compared to most other cars I've driven, but you get used to it. It's a great 1st car or beater. The cabin is filled with cheap plastics with the exception of a nice woven cloth dash. Keep your expectations on par with the price and you will be pleasantly surprised.
