Purchased this car brand new in March 2014. With the first month engine light came on and there was a problem with the diesel system since then I have had to take this in 10 more times all with issues with the diesel exhaust system. Car no longer under warranty the last time it cost me over $1700 For repairs. Waiting at dealership now for same problem. Dealership is making pay for a engine diagnostic test another $120 down the drain. Call Chevrolet Customer Service again waiting for a call but not expecting much just like last time I called.

I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze LT. I bought it in 2017 and have had nothing but problems with this car. Between the air flow performance, the engine itself, the coils, the sensors, the stabilitrak, everything! This car is a money pit and I would not recommend it to anyone. You fix one problem just to have another in two weeks. If you don’t mind throwing money into a car to fix it, go for it. They’re nice cars to look at; it drives smooth when there isn’t any problems. MPG is great, so is the speakers in the car.

Do not buy a diesel Cruze!

Do not buy a diesel Cruze! We purchased our 2014 diesel Cruze a few months ago. It was a new car left over from last year and we got a great deal on it. It was an ok car and then we began having problems. The check engine light has come on 3 times now due to issues with the diesel particulate filter. The most recent issue began a few days ago and we brought our Cruze into the dealer. They ran all the tests and pulled the code. We have been told that they need to keep the car for weeks and a new part has to be custom made by Chevy because the emissions sensors are faulty. No one knows when the part will be ready. This is an absolute joke. GM Global Support is useless and the person who is "assigned" to our case won't speak to us. We've paid for a car that we cannot use. No one can give us any answers. Seriously do yourself a favor and stay far away from the diesel version of the Chevy Cruze. We have heard from both the dealerships we've brought the car into that there are many known issues with the Cruze diesels and a recall is probably in the very near future.

I have owned my 14 cruze td for 16 months now. I have had numerous nox sensors and 02 sensors replaced. I have had the diesel particulate filter replaced also. on average the car has been in my dealer shop about every 3 months since having owned it. I often wonder how many other owners have had the same sensors replaced as often as myself. I like the car but with they would just fix the issues permanently. As of 9/22/16 I have contacted general motors and my dealership about buy back assistance or replacement neither have offered an acceptable offer. I strongly urge others to stay clear of this lemon. its general motors diesel fiasco again just like the 80'S

Great cabin comfort for driver especially seat. Difficult but not terrible for disabled elders to get in and out of from back. Liked Cruze enough to lease same car, differnt colors 3 times. Sluggish on hills and when merging onto a hilly highway despite turbo engine. Overall, enjoyed driving it,.

What can you expect from a company vehicle? If you see a car simply as an appliance,it's not bad. But if you are looking for a sedan with comfort and performance, shop somewhere else. The Cruze is pretty lousy. The car is underpowered for a sedan weighing over 3,000 pounds. If you are going 70 MPH on the highway and step on the accelerator, hoping to pass up another car, this thing is a dog. You are better off getting a Corolla for a little better price and better MPG. Only 29 MPG is not very rave fuel economy for a car with only 138 HP. Worst yet are the seats. it's like sitting on a cement park bench. Everyone at my company who drives this car complains about the discomfort.

I purchased this 2014 Cruze in Sept. for one reason and one reason only - 38 mpg. I'm not even getting 30. The 6 speed auto transmission is clunky and herky jerky. Every control is slow to respond. No trunk release anywhere on the car, only on the key, and it won't work if it is in the ignition. All in all this car is a HUGE disappointment and I would not recommend it to anyone. Jan. 2016 Have had my Cruz for 3 years now. Have never, ever gotten more than 33 MPG. Heating System and the A/C are under powered. Freeze in the winter, bake in the summer. The Information System is a joke, almost nonexistent. Car is difficult to get out of as well. I would do a better job of comparison shopping before I purchased another Cruz. July 2017: Still getting sub-par MPG. Have never, ever gotten more the 33 MPG. Still difficult getting in and out of. The Climate Control is still under performing. I have Jeff Perry GMC do all of my Service work. After JP Chevrolet screwed me on the deal, I never, ever go there and never ever will. I also warn all my Friends to be very careful when dealing with JP Chevrolet as it is "BUYER BEWARE".

This is a company car which I am mandated to drive via my position. If I had a choice I would dump this thing in the deep blue sea. The seating is terribly uncomfortable and lacks any scrupulous ergonomic measures. The car is powered by a weak 4 cylinder, 1.4L engine that sounds like a lawn mower. I dread having to get in and out of this car every morning. The doors are heavy and do not have a rest fulcrum which allows users to get in and out comfortably without the heavy door slamming into your leg. The aesthetics are ok, mainly the interior and dashboard are the only redeeming qualities in this bucket of bolts. It lacks any unique beauty or style. MPG is a solid 30.

The title best describes the Cruze: it’s a fun and comfortable sedan in the shell of a drab econobox. The Cruze overall isn’t a Mercedes not is it a Focus ST, but it’s the best for the price point on the used market. Being part of the “Scion demographic” meaning young and sport-minded: The thing takes corners great until the body lean gets unbearable and it keeps up with most unsporty vehicles until third gear makes its move. Also the aftermarket is kinda lax for the Cruze, especially the 1.8L engine. I beat on my car like no tomorrow, full throttle everywhere and I’m not afraid to take it anywhere. I have yet to experience any major repairs let alone a service bill that has a comma on it. The 1.8L I4 has been pretty reliable over the almost 100,000 hard miles I’ve put on it. Most repairs were non-abuse areas like the infotainment module or the cv boot. The most expensive being the coolant system after a valve leakage at a cost of around $600. The paint durability would be my only complaint. It’s no Toyota on reliability, but it won’t leave you stranded. It hasn’t for me in the last 3-1/2 years. It will leave you toasted in the winter with the heater and ice cold in the summer though!

I've had 3-4 water pumps. Had to replace my motor around 153,000 miles about $6,900. And now ac compressor trying to go out at 153,754 miles and the replacement is $1,256. Oil change was done regularly. But it's great on gas. Just get your transmission fluid change. I really like my car but its getting expensive to fix

For anyone doing 100 miles of commuting a day, I can't think of a better car. Regularly achieved 60 mpg on the highway with the low resistance Goodyear tires. At 65,000 I put a set of Michelins on the car which helped the handling but reduced my mpg by about 10 mpg. This is no Cadillac, but the leather interior and electronics make this a very comfortable car to be in for 2 plus hours a day. The diesel has plenty of torque which makes mergging at highway speeds a non issue. I have only had 3 problems in 4 years and they were all recall items.

1.4T PCV and coolant system pain in the you know.

Bought this 2014 LT 1.4T in the summer in Texas, at 86K miles. Once it finally got cold outside(DEC/JAN) I noticed foul burning oil smells coming from the heater vents, like toxic obnoxious overwhelming nauseating smells. This car is known for several issues and there are ways to get long fixes, but for only 86K miles it shouldn't have had those issues. Fast forward to 95K miles and have figured that as long as I keep the fan OFF while idling at a light or in traffic, the nauseating smells dont permeate the cabin. Heater can be ran during any vehicle speed without smells. Also, engine light came on and end result was the PCV valve on the valve cover. Which failed due to the infamous check valve in the intake manifold had disappeared. I found a great long term repair thanks to the guys at https://www.cruzetalk.com/. Fast forward to 110K miles, water pump failed. 120K miles, output water/coolant fitting failed. I will update so long as I have this car. Do not recommend this car.

I am pretty late to this review since I bought this new back in 2014. But, I regret that purchase to this day. 26,000 FOR THIS TURD! Its insane. It had a Pioneer PREMIUM sound system, and 2 months into ownership the speaker got messed up and rattled like heck all the time (never cranked it that high). Then, at 60,000 miles the turbo blew! Thankfully it was covered by warranty but that should not have happened at that mileage. Now I just got a 2020 Accord Sport which is something I can drive forever! Stay away from these!

I got this car brand new in January 2014 and I still have it now but am getting rid of it. It only has 24,000 miles on it and it's January of 2018. I loved this car in the beginning it was zippy and fun to drive. First my car warned me about having a cracked axle. Took it to dealer and they fixed the recall. The batter was very weak and car had no power so I checked the battery and it was way too small for car. One day on a rainy day my window wouldn't roll up, but they fixed it. Then my car was burning gas at about 4 times the normal rate. I mean really fast then while driving my car completely stopped cars were coming at me and I was scared not knowing what was going on. It was weird it had gas, it didn't start, the battery was fine, seemed like nothing, had it towed home, then to Chevy the next day and they said "contaminated gas" well according to my fuel burning and I park in the garage it was not contaminated it was a faulty fuel pump. They replaced it but was going to charge me over 1000.00 since I was 2 weeks past my 3 year warranty. Made some calls and luckily they did it for free. One day I noticed I had a huge bubble on the side wall of my tire so I took the car in to get a new tire and he told me the 2 front tires look super old and had been sitting in the sun for a very long time. He showed me the whole side wall was cracked all the way around the outside of the tire and said he was surprised they lasted this long. So I replaced them the back two were good. Then I got a letter saying the steering might lock up while driving and I will lose control, thank God it didn't happen. All in all I loved this car but all these breakdowns make me feel very unsafe in it. It's too much hassle a new car should come new and working. I won't buy this again

we have had problems with this vehicle since day one. I bought this car brand new and it has been in the shop 24 times. Between engine lights, sunroof leaks, sensors going bad, and the interior falling apart this car is beyond the worst. Contacted Chevy multiple times, even had to sue them with no resolution. the car is yet AGAIN in the shop for EGT sensor, sunroof leak, and bluetooth not working.

Major Health and Safety Concerned Vechicle

I own a 2014 Chevy Diesel Cruz, I am also the mother of a 16 month old and currently 3 months pregnant with our second child. This car was purchased as our commuter vehicle for my work and taking our child to daycare. As of December 30, 2015 there was a failed seal and gasket with the exhaust system which allowed exhaust into the cabin. There were no light indicators or faults with OnStar to show the balance of exhaust in and out of the engine was unbalanced. The car has been in the shop from June 20, 2015 until the current date of January 19, 2016 on 6 different occasions (every month from June 2015 to January 2016) for multiple sensors and full exhaust system replacement for over 90 days in the shop. GM/Chevy and the JN Chevrolet dealership have been unhelpful, disrespectful and made light of all of our concerns with the condition of the vehicle. Recently, Chevy has only offered us $500 dollars toward the purchase of another GM vehicle. This is unacceptable since I was sick possibly due to inhaling the fumes for over a month without any warnings.

The main headache has been the diesel emissions fluid system. I've had two major repairs on this system. Specialized parts and the car being down for three to four days. It also takes expensive oil and trans fluid. The trans is also story by itself. GM considers it a sealed unit for life and stocks no parts for it. I only found one dealer in a city with five that would change the fliud. These are money pits, better unloaded on some unsuspecting person. I would also avoid any new diesel GM has to offer

I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze that I have owned little under 2 year's. This car has to be the worst Chevy vehicle to date. The car will cut off without warning. My engine and transmission is going out. It constantly runs hot for no reason. It has under 60,000 Mile's. The manufacturer will not do a recall. They really should it's completely unsafe.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a car. I bought it and within a year and a half (20,800 miles) I had to replace: the blower motor the coolant system the positive power cable the negative power cable the ABS power cable the radio power cable and the ABS sensor harness on both sides. That is horrible for it being that new and the largest concern is I had all these problems and the light never came on. THAT IS SCARY! I almost could break because of the ABS issue.

I got a 2014 Cruze brand new. I always maintained the car and it was typically used for me commuting back and forth from college (back country roads, no city miles). First, the material of the oil cap is ridiculous and broke off into the oil reservoir when trying to service so don’t even attempt changing your own oil. At 100,000 miles the entire engine started failing. Left me stranded 3 times, after the 2nd time I got the engine rebuilt almost entirely and here I am, almost 4 months later with a blown head gasket. Even my family mechanic who we’ve used for over 20 years has told me to get rid of this car because they don’t even want to see it anymore. Once they saw someone else with my car pull in they really wanted to turn them away. I wouldn’t wish this car on my worst enemy and the worst part is that I still owe at least 3k. I don’t even feel comfortable selling this car to anyone so I’m truly at a loss.

Bought this car brand new in 2014. Since then it has had about 5 different recalls. And not cheap ones either. Every recall I’ve had on this car is the same recall as all the others with recalls. When I called several dealerships they told me my vin didn’t match to the ones issued recalls and there was nothing they could do. So I’ve ended up paying for all these repairs out of pocket. Dealerships wouldn’t push to help and I even called GM and exchanged messages over a period of 4 days and they wouldn’t even help me with their own garbage product. After fixing a Turbo that went out, oil pan gasket leak, all the components that leak anti freeze.....there’s 3 different ones recalled by the way, and fixing the right front axle shaft, and the other day a service Stabilitrak light came on which I still have to figure out and you guess it not for recall on my car. I don’t care if somebody gave you this car for free stay away from it, you’ll end up paying more to fix the thing then it’s actually worth. I’ve always heard them calls $hitty chevys and that is what I promise you’re buying. My car to this day only has 120,000 miles and I’ve had all those issues.

I'll admit compared to other compacts it's got character but that's about it , the engine is giving out; oil leaks timing chain issues and more . The interior like i said is amazing but all in all its not worth it i dont know why chevy would make this.

My wife and I just purchased a 2014 Chevy Cruze Ltz. I have been a life long Chevy consumer and was looking for a compact to midsize car that was kind of sporty but dependable. After research, the Cruze was the car we were shooting for. We went to our local Chevy dealer and requested to test drive the Cruze I saw on their website. It is a 2014 LTZ, with black exterior and interior with all the bells and whistles. The 18" wheels look good on this car. The interior is comfortable but the back seats are a little cramped. The front dash and surrounding area is easily accessible.

I purchased this car 3 month ago, since then i have got back pain and also i have a terrible pain in my right leg and is worst every time a ride this junk. Seats are so hard and front seats external padding is too high, i use a cushion but i continue in the same way, i tried to trade in to a different car but in the process i can lose more than $4000.00. Also when i turn on the air conditioning comes a chemical odor from the air vents, i have to open all windows until it disappear. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS CAR. I decided to buy this car because i have always been a GM fan, all my cars in the past were from this company except a Fusion that was terrible too. Finally i traded in this junk. It looks really nice and rides decent but the seat comfort is horrible.

Hard to know where to start. Alarm system goes off when I try to get into car. I am normal size (5'10", 170 lbs.) but I have to contort myself to get into drivers seat. Seat belt has too much tension. Right knee rests against hard surface--gets sore on long ride. Very little leg room for driver. Very poor visibility. Head rests and rear pillars block view when I back out of parking space. Stereo sounds tinny. Style is bleh. Key body is too large and bulky. Passengers find it difficult to get in and out. Feels like a sardine in a can.

Stay away from Diesel, it has a lot of issues, I am at 35000 miles, all sort of problems with check engine, also the exhaust fluid system has big issues, it will reduce your speed and stop the car completely if not fixed ....high expenses maintenance not worth buying a Diesel,

Bought 2014 diesel Cruze in Sept, currently have 5774 miles on vehicle.. Mileage stated 46 mpg..luckily to get 28 mpg..on frwy, mechanic stated that I need to set the trip every time I got fuel to show higher mpg vehicle misrepresented. Check engine lights: have had it in the shop more than my Ford SUV, also get higher MPG in Ford. starts on its own no remote start? No short trips allow so no more running to the store in my new car..carbon build up on sensors the stated that I averaged 28 mph.. And I was doing the frwy.. Coolant steam and smell in the cabin..let us not forget Recalls..Parts that need replaced but not available.. Including air bags and shaft that splits in half

Recently used it as a trade in for a VW GTI. I had the car for five years. Car barely gave me any headaches aside from the water pump failing at 50,000 miles; and the the thermostat housing failing at about 61,000 miles the following year. Car has an awesome amount of trunk space. I’ve moved 6 times in that car between Missouri and Illinois without much of a hassle. It was great on long trips and got really good fuel economy. However the cars acceleration is ok and the transmission shifts when it feels like it. Pretty soft ride as well it can be pretty bouncy at times. Rear seat space is pretty lacking if you’re setting behind someone tall (such as myself I’m 6’ 1”) but it’s not to bad. I’d say if you’re a college student or a young adult this is a good car for you maybe even a small family this is a good buy. Simply because parts are inexpensive it’s easy to do basic maintenance yourself on it. All in all it’s a solid car and I’d suggest it if comfort is your main focus. If you’re looking for sportiness or luxury look elsewhere.

I have had my 2014 Cruze LT with RS package since Dec 2014. It is the best car I have ever had. Fuel mileage is really good. Handling is above average. Turbo is seamless. The interior leather makes the car feel luxurious. Still to date only 53390 km on it and it really good shape. maintenance wise very good as well. will be doing the rear brakes in the spring.

This car has been great for me. I have had it since 2014 and drove it around like it was my '96 Volvo 850. Big mistake! The water pump and turbo failed. Most likely the turbo failed because of the water pump (which is a common problem on this vehicle). Other notable problems to this vehicle are the PCV Valve and the negative battery cable. I had all 4 of those problems in my car. Luckily they were all covered under warranty, unfortunately I had to deal with other problems most likely because of things like failed water pump (overheated engine). But the car is running strong 100,800 miles. Sadly, I don't like to accelerate above 3500-4000 rpm. Sorry everyone around me. The last time I accelerated any faster I heard the turbo go out. Anyways, it's a nice car if you have a short commute, live in a patient city, or run small errands. It's comfortable on the highway, but I would not like to drive this thing around in areas where quick acceleration is a must. Nope. That's probably why they aptly named it the "Cruze" (cruise). Well hopefully it can get me another 100,000 miles on this original engine. Then I can upgrade the review to 4 stars. It's 3 stars where it stands. 3.5 stars really becase Replacement parts are cheap if you are a DIY guy or gal because it's 2020.

We bought a new 2014 Chevy Cruze with the 1.4L Turbo engine in late 2013. It now has 67,000 miles on it, and when it is working well, it is a great car. However, it has had a lot go wrong, and every time something goes wrong, it is a huge bill, because it is seemingly designed to be very difficult to work on. This car has always had oil changes when due. It has not been a neglected car, but has been in the shop more than any car I've ever had. In just the Summer months of 2023, the ignition coil pack failed (again; original failed awhile back), the thermostat failed, the coolant outlet failed, the main engine wiring harness shorted and had to be replaced at great expense, the turbo failed, the oil pan gasket failed (and it is a ridiculous cost to fix this; not like your typical oil pan gasket on older cars), and now the timing chain needs to be replaced. This is in addition to some major repairs in other recent years. We are done with Chevy. Never again. It's too bad. This really is a nice car to drive, but it seems it is just a ticking time bomb, and every time something goes wrong, it's another thousand or two thousand dollars. Reliability is just terrible. If you're thinking of buying one of these (unless it's mine), run...find something else. Ultimately we had it fixed and sold it before there was another bill we'd be responsible for and bought a different brand. I'm sorry to say it, but I will never buy a Chevrolet again.

Before I even write anything, I will let you check this out for yourself. https://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/chevy-cruze.html?#sort=recent&filter=none I am going to make this short and sweet. I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze Ltz. I bought this car in November-2014 with only a few thousand miles on it. I have had problem after problem with this vehicle; ESPECIALLY after the short, worthless warranty expired. It’s coming up on having this car for 5 years now, and today I just had to get my motor for the windshield wipers replaced.. which was about $400. Let me just say again that this car is ONLY 5 YEARS OLD. That’s just one problem recently... The next problem, I haven’t taken it to get looked at just yet. When i go up hills or when I’m merging onto a highway, my car takes about a minute to gain speed. Not only does it take a while, but it also jumps before it starts to go any faster. Sounds like a transmission problem to me but when I had my mechanic run diagnostic tests, nothing came up. If you read about Chevy Cruze complaints, many people have had this problem but Chevy does not seem to care for it. I called as many people as I could and now I’m trying to take this further and hopefully with all of these complaints that Chevy has they will do something about it. I wish I would have done more research before I bought this car because It has done absolutely nothing but put me in a hole. Please do yourself a favor, and do not get a Chevrolet Cruze or even just a Chevy period.

2014 Chevy Cruze was my first car and I was so excited to get it. Bought it with 115,000 on it and spent over 3,000 in just two years of owning it. Was always in and out of the shop for engine light problems. Then it was supposedly fixed no light was on, so I was driving it when it damn near exploded. It started smoking really badly and all the oil spilled out of it could see a oil spill all the way down the street from where I drove. I had to get it towed and get rid of it. These cars these years have SO MANY RECALLS AND SO MANY PROBLEMS. All models from this year and years close to it has problems with the engine. It can and will develop cracks in the engine and after 120,000 miles it is not covered to get fixed for free. Cost of new engine is price of new used car. Do not disappoint yourself. This car is a LEMON!!!

i bought the ltz, which i thought everything would come standard on, i was sorry to learn if i wanted a sun roof or spoiler, that would be an extra charge, they did not include any safety items, like if there is a car next to you, the light goes on in the mirror, and they put these puny splash guards on the car and charge you 170 .00,for things that barely even do the job, yes the car has a lot of room, i have been getting 31 mph with just about all highway driving. the radio is not worth the price either, if you drive in highway traffic with the window down, you can barely hear what's on the radio, the blue tooth is another story ,sometimes it works, other times, you can say a name to call and it says not listed in your phone book, only to try again 2 min later and it goes right thru! the heated seats, barely get warm on the highest setting, now, for some reason, the duel horn dose not work all the time, when it does work the right way. people can here me, when it does not work the right, hardly anyone can here me! i am still very disappointed with this car, i have been a Chevy owner for 24 years, next car i get will not be a Chevy!!!

Everyone we talked to before we bought the Cruze, loved their Cruze. Once we started to complain about issues we were having, we realized that everyone else had had weird, quirky things with their Cruze's as well. We bought the car at 17k miles. Almost immediately we had issues with the electronics, the compatibility with our phones, back up camera getting stuck...mainly minor nuisances. Soon after we started having the check engine light come on frequently. I would say in the two years we had it the check engine light would come on every six months. Thank goodness the dealership we dealt with had a great service department! Usually everything was covered under warranty. There were so many issues....they ended up warranting an entire new engine at 37k miles. We had cadalidic converter issues, cylinder head issues, skipping issues, gasket issues....you name it! Like I said, the check engine light would come on about every six months with a new issue. The last straw was when, without warning, I came out after only 15 minutes shut off to a dead battery. We replaced the battery and it has been fine, however, I'm not trusting that it's not a recharging issue. So we are getting ride of this POS while it is still under warranty and the getting is good. NEVER would i recommend this car to anyone!

This car has been one of the best cars Ive owned--I drive 60,000 miles a yr -my 2014 chevy cruze has 198,000 miles. I bought when it had 18k on it. Never has been in the shop other than recalls. The car still has orignal brakes. My friend has one with over 300k these engines are great. Im averaging about 50mpg . Look I read all the bs from the other articles on this diesel— diesel are exepensive to maintain as with any diesel any brand and such as oil changes, timing belt, battery etc etc. Car has plently of power even at 198,000. I would buy another any day any time

I like my Chevy Cruze. I very much dislike the Chevrolet dealership, however. They are total crooks. Not an opinion, but fact. They are crooks. I'll save that story for Yelp. So that eliminates me from purchasing another new Chevy, because I won't be dealing with our Chuck Nash dealer in Kyle, Texas any more. I've had to take my 2014 LT Cruze every couple of months since I bought it used with 17,000 miles on it. Pretty soon after my purchase I took it in for a recall item. They fixed it but found something else. And since then little things had been going out on me, mostly due to electrical issues. And whenever I fix something, the dealership finds something else. So, I'm not sure if I should blame the integrity of the car on the product itself or on the dealership. But I've been happy with the car besides that. I got it loaded and at a great price. I didn't get it from the dealer. For me, the best thing about the car is the interior. Chevy has really nice interiors for the price. Before this car I had a Mazda 3. I liked the performance of the Mazda 3 better, but for looks and comfort, I prefer the Chevy.
