Don't listen to the "experts"--this is a great truck!

Since I don't need a full-size truck, I moved from a '99 GMC Sierra to the Colorado. I bought this one used with 45,000 miles and I must say that I love this truck. I think I have a rare model, since it has the leather option with the LT2 trim level, which usually comes with the LT3 trim. The best thing that I ended up with in this truck is the optional 5.3L V8. In a mid-size truck like this one, the power to weight ratio is unbelievable. 300hp and 320 ft/lbs of torque is on tap and I can tow up to 6000 lbs with it. The experts are idiots--they slammed this truck in their reviews, but on average, the owners have given very high reviews.

It's the fastest truck I've owned. The 4x4 is awesome. Great handling. Do not be fooled by a small truck!

V-8 power and great styling

Bought new Aug. 09 with V8 and 4WD. I've had more compliments on this vehicle than on any I've ever owned. V8 power is great and mileage isn't bad.Very comfortable to drive, my ONLY complaint in over a year of ownership is interior wind noise at highway speeds. I've had no problems at all so far.

Still a great truck after 4 years-minor body rust

I've owned my 2010 Colorado since May '14 and it's been a great truck. The best features are the handling and the 5.3L V8, but my overall rating is excellent. I've had some minor issues with the wiring and electronics, but I think that's pretty common with the 1st generation Colorado. I did have to replace the front brake pads/rotors last fall after at 85,000 mi but still on the same battery. I've replaced the tires, had to have the HVAC switch on the air conditioning replaced and fixed 2 broken wires in the ext cab doors (design defect). I did have to replace the 4wd front driveshaft cv joint last winter. My only complaint is the common electrical issues that most of these 1st gen Colorado's have had. The engine is very powerful...especially in a mid-size truck like this one. I can tow 6000 lbs...more than enough to tow my snowmobiles, ATV's, etc. Handles like a car, works like a truck, and she can plow through some pretty heavy snow with the 4-wheel drive (I've never been stuck yet). I have had some body rust issues now after 4 northern NY winters. I had it rustproofed again this spring and I have a rocker panel that's starting to get some surface rust but that's common around here. I probably will have it replaced next spring since I still plan on driving the truck for at least another 3 years. All in all, it's STILL a great truck and I would still recommend it to anyone.

First Impressions - 2010 Colorado

I just purchased a new Colorado after owning an S-10 for the last seven years and 160K miles. I did a great deal of research prior to my purchase, focusing mainly on the Tacoma, Frontier and Colorado. Both the Nissan and Toyota received higher reviews from the auto experts, but the consumer reviews were mostly positive for the Colorado. I have only driven this new vehicle for a couple of weeks and my initial impression is that I like it...very much. I drove all three and the Colorado seemed to have what I was looking for. I loved my S-10 and if I enjoy the Colorado half as much, it will have been a great purchase.

TEST REVIEWS ARE NOT VERY KIND TO THIS PICKUP?? I HAD A 2004 EXT 4CYL. LIKED IT ALOT. AND UPGRADED TO A I-5 4WD EXT. I HAVE OWNED FOR 15 MONTHS, NO PROBLEMS,GOOD FUEL ECONOMY,COMFORTABLE,GREAT LOOKS WITH THE LT2 PACKAGE! I DROVE A FORD RANGER,TACOMA,FRONTIER,AND DAKOTA...... THEY ALL HAVE THIER ATTRIBUTES, AND DIS-LIKES. THE COLORADO SEEMED TO BE THE RIGHT CHOICE THE 2ND TIME AROUND.....I HAVE NO REGRETS....READ THE PEOPLES REVIEWS WHO OWN THESE TRUCKS .....NOT CONSUMER REPORT'S,ECT.... FOR SOME REASON THEY THINK THIER SUPPOSE TO DRIVE LIKE A CAR, AND HANDLE LIKE A SPORTS CAR??? IT'S A TRUCK, AND A GREAT ONE AT THAT. ASK COLORAD OWNERS,NOT EXPERTS WHO TEST THEM AND GIVE THIER OPINION?

Drives better than a Taco.

Recently bought a 2010 and have been through a first Vermont snow storm. Comfy little truck that does well in the snow. Don't understand the negative comparison with the more trendy Tacoma. Tried out Tacomas and found them kind of jarring and uncomfortable to drive. They are also really bad on fuel economy. This Colorado, despite its age, drives like a car mostly, except it does well on washboardy dirt roads. Interior is nice and dash is easy. Great little truck for someone looking for a daily dependent, get from point a to b comfortably under any conditions. Can't speak to reliability yet, but has a solid reputation.

I owned an extended cab 2010 Chevrolet Colorado that I purchased with only 63,000 miles on it. I had to trade before the truck even reached 109,000 miles due to the electrical system. The radio would randomly come on and drain the battery. The Chevrolet dealership in Chanute, Kansas could not fix the problem. After three weeks of this I finally had to trade. I’ve never had a vehicle with this sort of problem. Why are you making vehicles your dealerships cannot fix?

The 5 cylinder engine is both peppy and runs smoothly. This WT model is bare bones with hand crank windows, manual adjust mirrors and seats; great for a truck. Only one shortfall, it lacks a box hitch which should be standard on a work truck. Options offered for model didn’t list WT EXTENDED CAB 4WD 3.7L I5 which it is. All in all it is a little beast that will run a long long time.

Love the looks, interior is very comfortable, mileage isn't bad for a v8 with 4WD. Especially like the V8 power. Have had no problems at all in this first year of ownership.
