Used 2013 BMW X3 xDrive28i 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 8A) Consumer Reviews
Engine Clatter
Bought for my daughter to take to grad school. In shop in Denver several times for engine clatter. Always told noise was normal and dealer never put on customer list for repair. I even called Denver dealer myself and complained. Told normal every time. Over 3 1/2 years noise increased. Now car won't start and noise now sounds like an old diesel truck engine! I understand having trouble with a car but do NOT understand dealers protecting the BMW name by not completing what would be a very expensive repair while under warranty. Do NOT buy BMW products. Get over the looks and demand service.

When your mechanic says run!
Have a local certified mechanic who looked at the car after is stalled in the parking lot of the grocery store. Took it in the next week and he informed me that the engine was on its way to seizing, he said I need to get out of this car ASAP, problems began w engine around 85k miles, which in looking back at reviews seems like I was one of the lucky ones to even make it that far. The maintenance and issues are just too expensive and annoying considering I was sold this car and told about its German engineering and high quality. Beyond disappointed and turned me away from the luxury car industry.

So Much for German Engineering and Reliability
83,338—new turbocharger 99,533—rear differential 99,729---new transmission (when they figured out it wasn’t differential) 118,770—oil pump blew—new engine (dealer/BMW split cost but still paid $6300 out of pocket)

The X3 is Awesome!
I love my X3. After test driving the RX350, Mercedes GLK, FX35 and the Audi Q5 I kept going back to the X3 couldn't remember the features of the others only that of the X3. The back seat is roomy enough for my teenage son. I like the quietness of the ride. I haven't found anything that I don't like about this vehicle yet. Great birthday gift to myself
Transmission problem at 77K. Never expected.
I bought this used BMW X3 from dealer, 2nd day driving , car started giving check engine light on and transmission problem message. Never expected this problem from luxury car manufacturer at low mileage car. I have driven Toyota’s and NIssans all the way to the 200K + mileage. None of them gave me major problem such as this car. Very disappointed.
